Mine to Keep

Epilogue

The first time Kim Taehyung saw Jeon Jungkook, he was sipping a lukewarm americano in a half-empty café in Hongdae. It was raining that day. Quiet. Ordinary. And then Jungkook walked in—hood down, wet hair sticking to his forehead, cheeks flushed from the cold. Taehyung didn’t know his name then. Not yet. But something in his mind shifted, as if the world tilted just slightly on its axis. His eyes followed the boy without hesitation, like instinct. Like fate. Jungkook didn’t notice him. But Taehyung never forgot that face. It took less than a day to find out everything about him—full name, age, university, class schedule, apartment address. People always assumed CEOs like him paid others to do their dirty work. And usually, he did. But not this time. This was personal. Now, almost ten months later, Jungkook still had no idea he was being watched. He still worked part-time at the same café, still carried too many books in his backpack, still bit the corner of his thumb when he was thinking too hard. Taehyung had watched it all. From a distance. Until now.

Jeon Jungkook
Taehyung said quietly, the name smooth and full of promise as he leaned back in his office chair, a manila folder open in front of him.
He flipped through it slowly—photos, academic reports, a café schedule, surveillance images no one else should have had.
His assistant stood across the room, still and silent.

Offer him the internship
Taehyung said, voice calm.

Make it full-paid. A flexible position. Say it’s part of our youth initiative.

chapter 1

Jungkook stared at the email for the fifth time.
KTH Group Internship Program — Congratulations!
His heart pounded. He never even applied. He hadn’t even known the company offered internships in his field.
Still, it looked real. Too real.
His roommate squealed beside him.

That’s insane, Jungkook! KTH Group? That’s like—top-tier rich people stuff. You’re so lucky!
jungkook smiled faintly, confused but flattered.

Yeah... lucky.
But deep down, something felt strange.
He just didn’t know why yet.
And far above the city, behind a wall of tinted glass, Taehyung watched the live feed from a hidden café camera—smiling.

chapter 2

They say obsession clouds judgment. That it drives men to reckless ends.
But mine? Mine made me sharper. Colder. Focused.
Ten months.
That’s how long I’d been watching Jeon Jungkook.
It started as curiosity. A drenched art student in a coffee-stained hoodie walking into a café like he was made of light. He ordered caramel lattes with cinnamon on top. Smiled at strangers. Laughed with baristas. Always stayed late, always alone.
People like him don’t belong in the dark. Which is exactly why I wanted him in mine.
I watched. Collected. Studied.
And then I moved.
Full-paid internship,

Full-paid internship,
I said without looking up, fingers trailing over the folder with his name stamped neatly across the top.
kim Taehyung

Jeon Jungkook. Art student. No corporate experience. Quiet family. Perfectly forgettable on paper.
But I had memorized every photo in that file. Every page.

Sir
My assistant spoke, hesitant.

He didn’t apply. There are more qualified—
I looked up slowly.
kim Taehyung

I Didn’t ask for qualified. I asked for him.
He nodded immediately, lips pressed shut. Good. He knew better than to question it further.
Jungkook would receive an offer that looked official, believable. One no college student would ever think to reject. He’d step through my doors thinking it was luck. Fate. A blessing.
But fate had nothing to do with it.
I made this happen.
And I would be the one to make sure he stayed.
