Let's get started with the story!
The sky was the color of wet cement, a dull, silvery gray that stretched endlessly, dripping rain like it had something to mourn.
The apartment building stood quietly at the edge of a narrow street, a few chipped bricks clinging to faded red walls. Old vines curled up one side like nature was trying to take it back. The windows looked tired, heavy curtains barely shifting behind the glass.
Apartment 4A. That was hers now.
A beat-up taxi stopped in front. The engine stuttered once, then groaned off into the rain. The door creaked open, and Maya stepped out, hoodie drawn, suitcase in one hand, the other stuffed in her pocket. Her boots hit the wet pavement with a soft thud.
She stared up at the building, her breath rising in the cold.
Maya got inside the building. The inside was surprisingly warm, Cozy. The wallpapers patterns were a bit old-fashioned, the pictures on the wall, Grayish like from the 90s. Maya looked, and suddenly an old voice came from behind her which made her jump and flinch a bit. Maya looks behind her to see who it was.
Mrs. Wrenley
Ah aha– You must be Maya! You're here just in time!
*Smiled Softly and adjusted her glasses on her nose a bit as she moved slowly to the front desk and noticed that she had scared Maya a bit. She got worried*
Oh! I'm sorry that I scared you darling! Are you ok?
It was the landlord... She looks like a sweet old lady.

A-Ah... No no it's ok. I was lost in thoughts that I didn't notice you approached me Mrs?....
*Maya paused as she didn't know the old lady's name.*

*She said with a soft smile appeared on her wrinkly face. The smile was sweet, filled with kindness. Which makes Maya smile with joy for no reason*

You have such beautiful smiles dear.
*Mrs. Wrenley said and was finding something in the drawers. A room key for 4A.*

*Maya, of course blushed at the compliment. She clenched her nail through the hem of her sleeves. Her heart is racing with happiness*
Aww,! thanks Mrs. Wrenley. You're so sweet too.
Mrs. Wrenley
Call me Wren Darling. Here, Apartment room 4A.
*Mrs. Wren said as she handed Maya the room key with a smile.*

Thanks Mrs.– I...I mean Wren.
*Maya smiled and took the key before she went to the elevator. Likewise, she pressed the button to go up. She hummed a little song on the way. She opened her phone to check the time. 6:30PM. Damn.*
It's getting a bit late…
*she murmured to herself as she waited to get to her apartment floor*
Slowly the elevator finally reached Maya's destination...
Maya walked down the hallway. Her footsteps echo down the hall, passing each rooms,4F,4E,4D,4C,4B and then 4A. Her room. She slowly unlocked the 4A room with the key that Mrs. Wren gave her. She got inside.

*Maya was shocked when she saw the room...*
It was perfect and beautiful. At first she thought she was going to get a creepy room since the hallway was dark and creepy but she was wrong. plus!it was cheap! Maybe because people don't come here anymore, seems like it because she didn't see many ppl coming in or out nor heard a sound of footsteps coming from the other rooms or hallway.
Maya closed the door as she got inside. Putting her luggage before she sat on a soft sofa. She smiled and laid there, sighed with relief and tiredness from the multiple rides and walking.
Maya decided to Freshen up and baked something for the neighbors since she's new here and wanted to get along! Nice right?
So Maya got up and went to the bedroom with her luggage and settled her clothes in the closet and put some stuff in the other place where they belonged. After that Maya went into the bathroom and warped in a towel.
After a minute of a long hot bath, Maya came out and went to the bedroom to change. She opened soothing music on her phone to go along with the rain outside. She hummed along with the music as her hips swayed softly as she put some foundation/lotion on her body. The room smells with soft wild flowers. She slipped into something warmer.

There we go! Now let's get to baking some muffins!
*Maya said with excitement and happiness. Likewise, she tied her hair into a messy bun. She went to the kitchen and put on an apron. She started to bake and decorate. After a long hour of baking cupcakes with different colors and shapes, she finishes it! She wiped the sweats a bit and smiled*
There, all done!!
Maya put the cupcakes in a tray/ box it up into small boxes, and a cute bow on top. Maya always wanted to make it look the best and give the neighbors. She looked at the time before she headed out to give some muffins.
7:20 PM...
She got outside from the apartment. She walked down the hall and she saw a tall guy with black hoodie and cap on walked past her and entered his own apartment room. She didn't pay much attention and just knocked on the apartment door,4D beside her. An old woman opens the door. The old woman smiles.
Neighbour from 4B
Oh? hi sweetheart? Need something?
*The old woman asked as her voice was rough yet sweet.*

Hi ma'am. Sorry if I interrupted you at this time, but I wanted to give you this muffin as a gift since i just moved in. Hope we can get along...
*Maya said as she held out a small box towards the granny. Her voice was trembling like it was her first time making a speech at the stage in front of everyone. She took a deep breath as her heart was pounding, her hand sweating as she waited for the granny response*
Neighbour from 4B
*Granny looked at Maya with surprise and a bit of happiness in her eyes? Granny smiled and took the little box and opened it. A small cupcake decorated into a panda shape. Granny looked at Maya and smiled*
Well isn't this just lovely?! Thank you sweet little one and welcome to the neighborhood. If you need anything you can ask granny anything ok?

*Maya smiled happily after hearing the granny words. It makes her filled with joy when she sees the sweet response back from others. It was the best feeling and made her days better. She stepped back a little.*
Thank you ma'am. I'll see you around.
Maya said as she moved to the next door to do the same thing. She knocked on the apartment door, 4C. First it didn't respond for a minute, but she heard footsteps inside. She tried to knock again, but suddenly the door opened and there stood a cute guy with cat furs sticking on his hoodie. He was holding a big white cat in his arms. He looked at Maya and smiled.
Eli
Oh! hi! Sorry for making you wait...I was taking care of something...her.
*He chuckled and smiled as he tried to shake the fur off him. The cat looked at Maya with sass and looked away like an attitude.*
So what's up? Are you new here? I'm Eli Winston btw. So what's up?
*He said and held his hands out to her to shake. He sounded like a sweet guy.*

Ah! yes! I'm Maya Lin...
*Maya shakes his hand gently. She noticed the sizes between her hand and his. His hands were soft and big. She blushed a bit and shook her thoughts.*
I just moved in so thought I made muffins for the neighbors so here!
*She handed Eli a small box of cupcakes*
Eli
*Eli's eyes lit up with excitement and happiness. His heart races faster in his chest and he can feel it!*
Ohhh! is That a gift for me!? Ahhh yes! I love gifts!
*He took it and opened the box and saw a cupcake with a heart cream on top. His cheeks flushed red*
that's sooo cute! I love it! No one never gave me like this before! Welcome to the neighborhood! Asked me if you need anything.

*Maya giggled a bit and smiled and nodded*
Thank you, Eli! Hope we can hang out...next time....
*Maya said and walked away, Waving goodbye to Eli. In her thoughts...Eli seems cute and nice. She was overthinking when she stopped at apartment 4B....*
Maya slowly knocked on the door. The noise echoed through the hall....weird...
Slowly the door to an apartment 4B... The room was dark and the smell of cigarettes hit her face instantly. Her nostrils flared at the smells of whiskey and cigarettes. Maya slowly looked up and saw...a man. He doesn't seem happy nor nice either... He was dressed in white t-shirt and his hairy arms in his gray sweatpants. A cigarette between his lips. His face was covered in his stubble beards. His hair was messy and long. His eyes were sharp and brown.

*Gulp* H-Hello...
Ronan Graves
*He stares at her in annoyance like she did something.*
What do you want? *He asked, his voice was deep and rough..*
Maya Lin
I-i umm...well i just moved in so...t-thought i- I gave the neighborhood with a t-tre–
Ronan Graves
I... Don't...fu€king care...Fu€k off..
*he said as he blew some smoke at her face and slammed the door at her face.*

*Stunned and speechless. It makes her sad about before her face changed into anger and annoyed*
Ah... Rude! Fine! Grumpy old guy...
Maya turned away and continued to give the other rooms cupcakes until it ran out. It makes her calm down a bit but still angry at him.
Time skipped to 8:21PM.
In her apartment bedroom:
Maya was talking to an old friend of her back in her hometown. They share some stuff like how Maya was doing and ofc Maya told everything about having a nice apartment, landlord and a grump guy next door.

📞: I swear Marissa...he said ‘Fuck off’and slammed that shit up my face! *Sighed*
Marissa Henderson
📞: Oh...my gosh...Rude!? What did you do girl? Don't tell me you just let him treat you like that girl. You can't keep people treating you like that. You gotta talk back!ugh!*Rolled her eyes and scoffed*
Maya frowned at Marissa's words.
She knows it was true...She can't just let people take advantage of it and let it walk off! But...she was soft and scared to talk back... didn't have the balls to do it either.

📞: Maya babe. When you were with me I was there to help you with this situation...but now since you're away I can't help with that anymore you know? You gotta deal with it to fight back and stop overthinking... You gotta grow bigger balls!

They both laughed and started to talk about other topics, About Maya finding a job...other stuff...too busy to notice someone... Someone.. standing outside her balcony... watching her. The glass fogged up with his breathing... watching her with his wild eyes,he grinned and slowly moved away...and went back to his own place.

Time: 7:00 AM... the sun was rising, and the birds outside were chirping. Maya laid there in her bedroom in the apartment, sleeping peacefully. The apartment was quiet and dark... the only lights coming from it are the sunlight from the window.
The alarm clock started to range loudly beside her bedside table. Maya groans in her sleep, Annoyed and sleepy. She reached her one hand to close the alarm clock. She pressed the button and went back to bed. A moment later she sat up on the bed and stretched her body. She sat on the bed for like a long minute before she made up her mind, getting out of the bed and going to the bathroom to take a shower, make breakfast and maybe find a job?
𝚃𝚒𝚖𝚎 𝚜𝚔𝚒𝚙𝚙𝚎𝚍: After showering and breakfast, She went outside to go buy some books to read. She got outside from her apartment. As she was going to the elevator, she bumped into someone.

“Ah!!? i-i'm sorry!!”
*looks up and eyes went wide with fear*

“Tsk...”
*looks down at her up and down*

*uncomfortable a bit*
“S-sorry...for bumping into you...”

*scoffs and walks past her*

*Walks into the elevator and presses the button to the first floor*
The elevator dings and the door slowly closes before it takes her to the first floor.
When the Elevator's door opens she was greeted with a familiar face.
Eli
*Saw Maya in the elevator*
“Oh hey Maya!”*smiles and waves*

*Smiles softly and waves back*
“Hey Eli!”

*Got outside from the elevator*
“Whatcha doing?”
Eli
“Oh just taking mittens for a walk! it's like our daily morning routine ”
*chuckles. Holding Mittens (a white cat) closer in his arms*

*looks at mittens*
“Aww she's such a cutie! Can I touch it? Does she bite?”
*Worried for a moment*
Eli
“Oh! No, Mittens don't bite. Sure!you can pet her”
*He held out mittens towards Maya*
Maya Lin
*Carefully get closer and make some space between them so she wouldn't get toooo close. Starts to pet Mitten's head.*
Mittens started to purr softly which makes Maya smile. She continues to pet and pet while...Eli was watching Maya petting Mitten. He blushed a bit when he noticed they were a bit close, and he could see the detail of her face... Her beautiful Brown eyes,the long lashes and those...lips... Eli quickly shook his head before he focused back on his Cat.
Eli
“I...eh...where were you heading earlier?...”
Maya Lin
*looks up,Stops petting Mitten*
“Oh I was just going out to go find something like books to read and you know? Look around or maybe find a job for...you know”
*Chuckles softly*
Eli
“Oh...i-i see...”
*Said with nervousness. He rubs the back of his neck*
Eli seems too nervous and Maya notices it. She finds it...Cute.
Suddenly they both heard a ding from the elevator...
Ronan Graves
“..."
*Steps out from the elevator and glaring at them both*
Maya was standing there,in the middle. She senses Eli glaring at Ronan and he is glaring at it back. Maya went speechless...also the moment was... awkward.

“S-so...Eli...I should get going ok?...see ya later”
*Smiles and looks at them before fleeing from there*
Eli
*Watches Maya leaves as his eyes soften a bit before glaring back at Ronan.*

*Watches where Maya has left before back at Eli and sneers.*
Eli and Ronan didn't say anything before they both went their own ways to do their own business.... Weird.
Maya got back to the apartment building filled with some stuff and items she just bought like A book, foods,new clothes(because she just packed a few before coming here), perfume and...ofc just got a job at a café which is only a few blocks away.
Maya was sipping some boba tea as she got into the elevator with an arm full of items she just bought. She pressed the button to her floor.

*Finishes her boba tea and puts it in a plastic bag, so she can throw it in the trash can back in her apartment.*
The elevator reached her floor and she got out. She stopped at her tracks as she saw Ronan standing in front of Eli's apartment door... looking angry.

*Got worried a bit for Eli*
💭: W-why is he doing in front of Eli's apartment? Was something going on between them or something?...
As Maya walked towards her apartment without making eye contact with him...She opened the door with a clumsy hand. She heard Ronan walking and disappeared into his apartment.
The door opens slowly... looking back at Eli's door and at Ronan's before she goes back inside. She wanted to ask Eli what was happening between him and Ronan but...she can't just poke her nose into someone else's business...that's just stupid...
Maya just decided to go back inside to mind her own business. She didn't want to push or ask Eli what happened...
Eli's pov:
(earlier that day after Maya left to go out)
Eli was in his own apartment, feeding Mittens some cat food, putting in her own bowl thinking about something before his thoughts were interrupted by a sharp knock on the door.
Eli
“...Who is it?”
*looks at the door before her walks towards it and peeks through the spy glass*
When he peeked through the spy glass he saw... Ronan standing there, glaring at him through the peephole like he knows Eli was watching him. Eli shivers at his stare before he pushes those thoughts aside and opens the door just a bit...
Eli
“oh...its you...Do you need anything?”
*Said coldly yet a hint of fear mixing in his voice*
Ronan Graves
“...Yes, I would like to ask you a favour...”
*Glares at Eli as his voice was harsh and deep...*
Eli
“What favour?...”
*Asked with curiosity and fear slowly rising*
Ronan Graves
“To Stay. Away... From. Her”
*He said as his voice grew more dangerously like a warning.*
Eli
*Her... Maya. He knows,Eli knows*
“....”
Eli didn't say anything as he waited for Ronan to respond. Minutes tick by and he was getting impatient.
Eli
“What about no?...”
*Said as he stepped closer to Ronan.*
When Eli said that Ronan can feel the rage rising in his vines. He was about to say something when they heard the elevator door open. Maya came out full of stuff.
Ronan and Eli didn't say anything more before they both just stood there glaring at each other.

“ I'll fu@king get you later”
*he mouthed before he walked back into his apartment*
Eli stood there, glaring at Ronan's back before he slammed his door shut too...Eli was pissed ofc.
