It’s a wonderful day just looking at the blue sky, and feeling the strong but sweet calming wind coming from the South East, while laying down our school’s terrace!, a girl at about fifteen thought happily. I am Ogy, my family and friends call me this since my real name is Ognyea, Chi. I live a simple life as a teen-ager in Slavic Republic. Though we have a nice environment here, I can’t seem to forget how modern our country is now. Though, flying cars and robots roam everywhere, nature still thrives since we kept our forests, seas and wildlife protected, preserved.

Haa….sh*t!, Ogy said since she’ll be late for dance practice. Slovak High is an all-girls school where cultural festivals still give honors for the Fire Dance which was our ancestors’ way of paying their respects to our gods and goddesses in the olden times. This dance symbolizes purification, transformation and renewal. It cleanses, purifies and brings good luck to the dancers and burn away negativity for good fortune.

Here, we, as dancers, wear a balloon-like skirt with metal frames on its hem which can be lit with fire when we dance and turn around for effects. Cool huh! Well, not that very, when we accidentally catch ourselves on fire, hihi! That would certainly become a popular news online and a disaster for us dancers who keep this tradition afloat just for the sake of keeping it! It makes no sense but yeah!..., Ogy thought.

When Ukraine and Russia’s war happened in the 21st century, it lasted for a decade but nothing was really achieved from it but lost lives, homes and destroyed countries. Then, other countries followed the stupid Putin’s footsteps and waged war against their opponents, only to find sadness, hate and death. Russia and Ukraine’s economy hit several loses and life here became poor. However, when a new leader named Serabika snatched the office from Putin with a landslide, she made sure that Russia will return to its glory and economic supremacy but failed to keep our culture intact. My parents are from Crimea, Ukraine but my dad is born in Donetsk, Russia.

They decided to stay in Donetsk because we can freely live there without being contested of our birth origin. And since most of the nations in the world now is run by a Supreme Leader, who lives by principle of truth, courage, kindness, empathy, faith and transparency. She is the ultimate example for us girls that ever since wars subsided and peace triumphed over greed and sexism, we are now living in a world, universe where there is justice, calm, prosperity and happiness. However, my parents wanted a peaceful life, so they moved to Bulgaria, in the town of Balgari since my grandpapi and mami are born here.

Ogy!!! It’s time…., another girl called out to our protagonist. Alright, I’m coming!. So, see you later!, Ogy told the tiny ants running around in line for scraps of bread not far from where Ogy laid down to appreciate the blue sunny skies.

 Donetsk, Bulagaria 10000 years in future

It’s a hard enough dance when is concerned.  Yet, what’s even more difficult is when I need to sway to the tune of the music along with touching and blistering my feet on the ground full of burning embers. Yes, Nestinarstvo is a Bulgarian Fire Dance where dancers walk on smoldering embers bare foot. This ritual started from our ancestors or my mother’s grandmother’s grandmother’s grandmother or more to celebrate the Sun God and bless our villages with prosperity and peace yearly. Though, today, we hardly ever celebrate this event since the

Mechanical Era began.

Still, our village in Balgari obligates girls or boys of the town to participate in this ritual. And this is my first time to join the troupe this year. I am turning fifteen next month and in turn for the blessing of my birth are the feasts of Saints Constantine and Helena. Haa…I am not a pagan. Yet, I don’t believe and venerate saints, only believe that there is a God and the universe provides for our food, home, money and family’s good health. On the other hand, since I need to join Ogon Horos I have no choice. Participating in this year’s Muzic Festivales is the main event for the teen agers life here. Hehe, well, maybe, just mine, okay, okay! But, I really needed this, I am eyeing to bag an A for this huge extracurricular activity to remain at the top of the class in my first year at Balgari, Slovak High.

Hmm…I am able to get the steps right, one, two, three….which is like moving into the beat of the drums and stringing waves of intuition, feel of music. From fiery to strange battle tunes, to fun, merry, savage to melancholic strings, flutes and orchestras, I feel like floating, jumping and moving to my soul’s deeper longings, inner desires right now.

It’s amazing, like I’m enveloped in this calm, beautiful resonating frequency, waves of nature and earth, like I am in trance or something!..., Ogy thought while moving her body to the beat of Fire Queen by Filip Lackovic which is about 10000 years old now, I think. It was released in the year 2025 and now it’s year 10,000, and it’s where mechanical cyborgs are common and planets are like provinces we can travel too or even visit to every once in a while.

Now, it’s not common to dance anymore, since, we already have virtual assistant who you can dance with or even dance for you if you don’t feel like it. Everything is simple, easy and digital. This era is called Mecha and it’s where cyborgs, humans and mixbrids start to mingle and try to get along with each other. Before humans had nature, racial, religious, class and political clashes, discriminations, injustices and issues, now it isn’t the problem we are facing but invasions from other galaxies since Earth has cyborg, military and mobile skims or robots as soldiers, maids, employees, bosses or business men, women or clients.

It is a Free World, One United Universe and that is what we abide to with the Supreme Leader. Supreme Leaders, Ambassadors, Senators and Counsels are like the heads of states in planets in the universe or galaxies.

Balgari is a Balkan nation with diverse terrains in Black Sea Coastline. Here Danube River is most famous with cultural melting pot of Greek, Slavic, Persian and Ottoman influences. Sofia is our country’s capital which is located at the foot of domed Vitosha Mountain dating back from 5th century B.C. Our population is about 12 million since wars here and there wiped out populations in between years 5000 and 8000. These wars consisted of alien and human imposed wars due to mergers and expansion of territories or claims to super power.I am from Balgari, a tiny village in the Municipality of Tsavero, Burgas Province, southeast of Bulgaria. The Standzha (Stanja) Nature Park is still famous among Bulgarians and Balgaris until now. And I won’t exchange my village for the world. Balgari is not the popular brand name Bulgari but I wish it were though! So people would look at Balkans differently. The Fire Dance was famous thus, already been part of UNESCO’s Best Dance and Lasting Heritage of the Balkans.

Tata (mum) Milena, Tati (dad) Boris Petrov and my brother Mylo are already on the table. My parents are Christians and though both Mylo and I are baptized, I am not really a practicing Catholic. But I pray and visit the church most of the time.

 Most of the time, hihi! My full name is Chi Ognyea Petrov that grand mami chose out for me, I don’t know where she got it but Chi I think is Chinese for energy and so on. So my name means Energy of the Fire Queen. Though, I am not a queen, I can say that I was a nerd who in elementary was called Ogy because I look it.

I am a bit weird with my huge eye glasses but when I turned thirteen, my aunt Mira bought  me a pair of contact lenses which I still use till today. So I am no longer the nerd that most of the boys and girls in school have been calling and ignoring as Googly Ogy. Now, I am taller than every other girl in our block, which I think is at about 5’9” and slimmer than the 200 pound girl that I was in grade school. I have wavy brown hair and long white legs. Though I walk on burning coals, we have sort of fake skin to cover our feet to escape the fire and not burn ourselves in the process. It’s the new age after all so we find ways on maintaining our beauty and smooth, silky skins intact. Hehe!

Ogy, Ogy! Dreaming again! Eat your dinner and wash the dishes!, Tata said ordering me. Ah…okay okay! Wait! It’s not my day to do the dishes it’s Mylo’s, Ogy reiterated. Nope, sis, I washed yesterday, remember, when you were talking to Raina on the phone, the popular girl in your class, I think!, Mylo replied running out of the kitchen. Huh! Whaaat! This is madness! I really hate washing dishes!, Ogy thought while trying her best to clean the plates one by one.
