Mom always worked so hard when growing up,she was always at the hospital doing her shifts cause she’s a midwife, she was barely ever at home so it was always me and with time I became a loner I preferred my own company and I considered talking to someone other than my mom a disturbed .
Mom and dad divorced when I was barely three years old because of his unfaithfulness, ever since then mom never got remarried or gave anyone else a chance, she just focused on me and her job.
It was my high school graduation and I was 16 years old then when I was eagerly waiting for my mom to show up to my graduation ceremony and we will take pictures , my dad didn’t even bother to show up he claimed he was too busy and my mom had a shift that day but she promised to take a leave of absence to attend my graduation.
I was just looking at the entrance the whole time waiting for the moment I will sight my mom among the crowd but that never happened all I saw after hours of waiting was my dad face with a sad expression too sad for someone his daughter was graduating, I waved him from where I was standing because little people were remaining at the graduation ceremony, he came to me and said we needed to go home, I asked him why? If he had heard from my mum , he broke the news to me that my mum was involved in a fatal motor accident on her way here and just like that my whole world came crashing down .
After mom’s funeral I went to live with my dad and stepmom, they had thirteen year old twins boys and they made my life hell because they weren’t open to fact that I came to live with them, and my dad was always traveling on business trips so he didn’t know or care how his wife treated me , that’s how I got my cheerful nature because there was no need being sad about how life was treating me I just got used to the fact that I had to be happy no matter what maybe it was my coping mechanisms or a facade I put on to cover my pains .
So when applying for college I made sure I applied far away from home because I knew my stepmom was dying for me to finally leave the house and I did , I was lucky enough to be admitted to the school I applied for and I vowed to only focus on my studies and never marry a man like my dad. First year in college was tough not in terms of money because my mom left money for my college and dad always sent me allowance even though it was little.
I was so focused on my studies and didn’t even have time to make friends, people always referred to my dressing sense as tacky but it wasn’t really my business whatever opinion they had of me and no matter the insults I got from my Coursemate’s I always gave them a cheerful smile and just walk off , so that came about my nickname the campus saint or some just called me the campus virgin .
"Moon's eyes widened as she collided with a tall, broad-shouldered figure in the cafeteria. Her books and lunch scattered across the floor. The boy, Benjamin, towered over her, his piercing blue eyes locking onto hers with a mixture of surprise and amusement.'Whoa, easy there,' he said, his deep voice rumbling as he helped her gather her belongings.
Moon's cheeks flushed as she apologized, her eyes darting to his chiseled features. She felt a flutter in her chest, but quickly suppressed it, attributing it to embarrassment.
Benjamin, however, seemed intrigued by the awkward encounter. He flashed a charming smile, and Moon's heart skipped a beat.
"Moon's hands moved quickly, gathering her books and lunch without meeting Benjamin's gaze. 'Thanks,' she muttered, her voice barely audible. She straightened, her eyes fixed on her belongings, avoiding Benjamin's charming smile.
Benjamin, however, didn't seem ready to let the encounter end. 'You're okay?' he asked, his tone genuinely concerned.Moon nodded, still not looking up. 'Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks.'Benjamin chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. 'Alright, well, watch out for speeding boys like me in the future.'
Moon's gaze flicked up, meeting his for a brief moment before she nodded and hastily departed, leaving Benjamin looking intrigued."
"Benjamin watched Moon disappear into the crowd, a thoughtful expression on his face. He couldn't recall the last time a girl hadn't fawned all over him. Moon's indifference was refreshing, yet intriguing. He wondered what made her tick, what lay beneath her quirky exterior.
As he stood there, lost in thought, Benjamin's friends called out to him, teasing him about his latest conquest. But he waved them off, his mind still on Moon. Who was she? Why didn't she seem to care about him?
Benjamin's curiosity was piqued. He decided to find out more about the mysterious girl who hadn't swooned over him."
"Benjamin approached a group of students lingering near the cafeteria entrance. 'Hey, guys, do any of you know that girl?' he asked, describing Moon's quirky style and book-filled backpack.
One of the students raised an eyebrow. 'You mean Moon? She's kinda...unique. Doesn't really hang out much.'
Benjamin's interest piqued. 'Moon, huh? What's her story?'
The student leaned in. 'Word is, she's a total bookworm. Always studying, never parties. Some people call her the campus virgin.'
Benjamin's eyes narrowed. 'Campus virgin?'
The student shrugged. 'Yeah, she's just not really into the social scene, you know?'
Benjamin's curiosity grew. He wanted to know more about this enigmatic girl who didn't seem to care about his charm."
"Benjamin nodded thoughtfully, his mind racing with ideas. He thanked the students for the information and walked away, determined to find a way to meet Moon again. Perhaps they had a class in common? Or a mutual friend?
As he strolled across campus, Benjamin spotted a flyer for a study group focused on literature. His eyes lit up – Moon had been carrying a thick novel in her backpack. He tore off a tab from the flyer with the study group's meeting time and place.
'Looks like fate's giving me a second chance,' Benjamin thought, a plan forming in his mind.
He decided to attend the study group, hoping to 'accidentally' bump into Moon again and strike up a conversation."
"Moon settled into her favorite corner of the hostel's library, surrounded by stacks of books and notes. She usually found solace in studying, but today her mind kept wandering back to the cafeteria incident. The tall, broad-shouldered guy with piercing blue eyes had left a lasting impression.
As she tried to focus on her notes, Moon's thoughts drifted to Benjamin's charming smile and effortless charm. She couldn't recall the last time she'd noticed a guy like that. Her mom's passing had shifted her priorities, and she'd dedicated herself to her studies.
Moon's pencil scratched across the paper as she attempted to jot down key points, but her handwriting faltered. She couldn't shake off the image of Benjamin's eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled.
'Why am I thinking about him?' Moon wondered, slightly perplexed. She'd never been the type to get distracted by guys, but there was something about Benjamin that lingered in her mind.
As the hours passed, Moon's notes became increasingly illegible, her thoughts consumed by the memory of their brief encounter.Moon took a deep breath, forcing herself to refocus. She pushed aside the distracting thoughts and immersed herself in her notes. As she studied, her pencil moved swiftly across the paper, her handwriting becoming neater and more precise.
She reminded herself of her goals and the sacrifices she'd made to get to this point. Moon's mom had always encouraged her to pursue her dreams, and she wouldn't let anything – or anyone – get in the way.
"Moon closed her books and gathered her belongings, her mind still focused on the study material. She packed up her notes and textbooks, feeling a sense of satisfaction with the progress she'd made.
As she walked back to her room in the hostel, Moon's stomach growled, reminding her that she hadn't eaten since breakfast. She planned to grab a quick dinner and get some rest, knowing she had a busy day ahead.
The next day was the study group organized by her department, and Moon was determined to be prepared. She'd been looking forward to it for weeks, knowing it would be a great opportunity to discuss complex topics with her peers.
As she entered her room, Moon dropped her bags and headed to the small fridge to grab a sandwich she'd prepared earlier. She ate quickly, her mind already racing with the topics she'd cover in the study
The next day, Moon arrived at the study group venue, her notes and textbooks neatly organized. She took a seat near the front, exchanging quiet hellos with her classmates. As the discussion began, Moon actively participated, sharing her insights and engaging with the material.
Just as the group was delving into a complex topic, the door swung open, and Benjamin walked in. Moon's eyes widened in surprise as he scanned the room, his gaze locking onto hers for a brief moment. Benjamin's charming smile flashed, and he took a seat across from Moon, his presence commanding attention.
The group's discussion continued, but Moon found her focus wavering. She couldn't help sneaking glances at Benjamin, who seemed entirely at ease, participating in the discussion with thoughtful comments. Moon's classmates welcomed him warmly, and it was clear he was well-known and respected.
As the study group progressed, Moon struggled to reconcile her initial impression of Benjamin with the person she was seeing now. He was intelligent, insightful, and genuinely interested in the material.
