EX-HUSBAND
TRAILER
Justice Priyank
The court has enough evidence to prove that Agastya Dharmatma is in fact, GUILTY. The court adjourned.
Meera
What are these pages?
Agastya
These are not pages, jaan. These are divorce papers.
Agastya
Since I am going to jail, I think you should be on the other side, living a free and happy life. You can't do that while staying married to me. Hence, let's get divorced.
Agastya
Meera. *looks at her in a stern expression*
Meera
*becomes quiet as she knew when he called her with her name, it meant he didn't want further arguments on the topic.*
Meera
Agastya, you have all the power in the world. You can get out of this sentence in one call. Why do you absolutely have to go through this? *crying outside the divorce office after getting a divorce*
Agastya
Because I promised to be a better man for you jaan. And I am going to keep that promise of mine, for you.
Meera
*watches him getting handcuffed now* Agastya!! *crying*
Agastya
Promise me that you'll love a happy life and get married again after me. *sits in the police jeep taking him to the prison*
Jeet
Boss? *Comes to the jail cell in order to pay a visit to Agastya* I have shocking news for you.
Agastya
What is it? *asks him standing behind the bars*
Jeet
You know the evidence submitted to the court by Satya against you? Those evidences were supplied to him by your wife, Meera.
Agastya
Are you absolutely sure?
Jeet
Yes sir, in this file, I have all the proof that leads to her being involved with Satya. Your wife, our madam betrayed you.
Agastya
Get me out of the prison tonight
Agastya
I'm going to make my ex-wife taste the venom of her betrayal now.
Agastya
Well hello, Mrs. Meera Agastya Dharmatma.
Meera
*eyes grow big* A-Agastya??! You're back?
Agastya
Yes, jaan. *touches her lips with his thumb* I came back for you.
Meera
Really? *genuinely happy*
Agastya
Yeah. *his expressions turn darker and grab her hair in his fist* How could a man like me sit down and do nothing when he gets to know the woman he loved the most in the entire world fucking BETRAYED him?!
Meera
*eyes grow big in horror* Y-you know?
Agastya
I'm not going to ask you why.
Meera
Agastya, I- Believe me. I have really loved you.
Agastya
Prove it. Can you?
Meera
I'd do anything so you'll believe me.
Agastya
You see that building over there, jaan? I want you to jump from its highest floor.
Meera
*Stares at him in horror*
Agastya
*smirks* You said anything.
Meera
*Wipes her tears* Fine.
She went inside the building, reached its top floor and without looking down, dived into the air. She fell exactly where Agastya was standing. On his feet. Broken.
Agastya
*smirks and squats down, removing hair that covered some portion of her face using his gun* Happy Birthday, jaan.
Meera
B-but it isn't my birthday today. *breathes, whatever few seconds of consciousness she was left with*
Agastya
I know. But it will be from now on. Because you're going to reincarnate today.
He clicked his fingers and the ambulance came to her rescue

Divorce
Justice Priyank
After listening to both sides, the court has come to the conclusion that the marriage of Mrs. Meera Dharmatma and Mr. Agastya Dharmatma could not be carried forward anymore.
Justice Priyank
And hence, gives the permission of divorce.
Justice Priyank
The court adjourns.
Once the meeting was over and both Meera and Agastya were made to sign the divorce papers by their respective lawyers separately, Meera ran out of the courtroom without a word.
Maybe she was crying, maybe she wasn't. Agastya couldn't see.
But he wanted to think that she was hurt because of the divorce as he knew, and he had faith that his Meera had grown to love him despite who he is through all these years that they have been together.
And hence, watching her like this was painful for Agastya too, so he ran after her.
Agastya
Meera wait! Talk to me.
Agastya said to her, taking a hold of her hand, making her stop.
Meera
Why? *crying in tears* Why should I talk to you? Was the divorce so important to you?
Agastya
Yes it was jaan, and you know it too.
Agastya
I have been imprisoned for twelve years. Twelve long years, I don't want you to just be out there, crying and waiting for me.
Agastya
I can't do that to you. I want you to be happy. I love you jaan. I would never want you to stop your life and just wait for me to return.
Meera couldn't believe that someday, someone like Agastya would love her so much that he would actually want her to be freed from him if they can't be together. With tears of shock shimmering in her eyes she looked up at her man unbelievably.
Meera
Agastya, wh-why? Why do you love me so much?
Meera
You're the most powerful man in this city. You can make a call and get out of this-this imprisonment. Why can't you just do that and stay with me forever, like you promised?
Agastya
I can't, because I know I promised you one more thing; to try and become a better man for you. That is why jaan, I'm going to abide by the country law and do what is right. I would do what your man should do.
Agastya
So that when I come back from the jail, wherever and whoever you'd be with....
Agastya took his lover, his ex-wife's hand into his and kissed her knuckles.
Agastya
I'll know that there was a time when you loved me. That you will always have respect for me in your heart.
Meera couldn't control her tears anymore. She just cried and threw herself in Agastya's embrace.
Meera
Oh, Agastya... I love you so much, and I'm so sorry.
Agastya smiled painfully, hugging her back, caressing her back slowly.
Policeman
It's time, Agastya Dharmatma. Let's go to your new home; Prison.
Upon hearing the policeman, Meera hugged Agastya even more tightly, as if she didn't want him to ever get out of her embrace.
Agastya too, held her closely and closed his eyes. sucking in a deep long breath to smell his Bella, keep her fragrance in his memory for forever.
Agastya
Just do me a favor, will you, love?
Meera had her eyes closed, and she said it without breaking the hug.
Agastya
Don't ever come to visit me in prison. Get a job and learn to live away from my shadows.
Agastya broke the hug with her and stepped away walking backwards towards where the policeman was standing waiting for him.
Agastya
I love you, but you don't have to anymore. Find another love and get married soon Meera.
Meera couldn't stop her recklessly falling tears. But it was time and Agastya had to go.
He turned his back towards Meera and started walking with the policeman after he put a handcuff around both his hands.
Meera heard Agastya call her this, one last time.
If only she didn't do what she ACTUALLY DID.
Goodbye
That's how I felt after Agastya left.
I shouldn't miss him so much, I'm not allowed to but... I did. I missed him. I missed his stern but loving attitude towards me. I missed how he'd be a strict dad and a passionate lover, both at the same time to me.
I really, really missed Agastya so much.
With heavy and slow steps I approached my empty apartment, OUR empty apartment to pack all my stuff and leave.
Housekeeper Chandra had already kept my bag prepared for me.
I looked at the trolley and then at her.
Chandra
Everything will be alright, madam.
Chandra gave me a sad smile, bowing down to me, in honor.
I felt a huge lump in my throat unable to utter another word.
Chandra
Please don't feel bad Madam.
Meera
I can't help it Charda. I was unable to save him from going to that hell.
Chandra
But that is what the sahab really wants. He asked me to have your luggage prepared before your arrival, and he doesn't want you to stay here for long. He wants you to move away as soon as you can.
Chandra took out a credit card and handed over to me.
Chandra
This has enough money to keep you going for a month. Until you get a job and an apartment, this will keep you going.
I took the credit card from her and thanked her.
Agastya wanted to disappear from my life as if he was never in it in the first place, and he wanted to do this for my own good.
I don't crave his money, this luxury. I never did. He could have brought me a separate apartment before going to the prison and divorcing me, but he didn't do that because that way he'll have my address with himself and wouldn't be able to keep from seeing me once he's out of the jail-time.
So, he wanted me to go somewhere he couldn't find out that easily. Lost in my thoughts, kept staring blankly at the credit card in my hand.
Chandra
Madam, this is really rough that you have to go through this. Should I talk to sahib? Try to convince him?
Being a woman and Agastya's personal maid, she has really treated me well and respectfully otherwise, other women who knew Agastya, only hated me.
Meera
It's okay Chandra. He is doing this for my own good. No matter how hard it is, it is the best thing for me.
I looked at one of mine and Agastya's couple pictures in a large frame hanging proudly in the hall and smiled at it... remembering the moment that we were together.
Soon I heard my cellphone buzzing. It was the cab I called. It had reached the apartment.
Meera
My cab is here. It's time for me to leave.
I held Chandra's hand and squeezed it firmly one last time and took a brief long pause to roam my eyes around the apartment.
Reminiscing every tiny detail of it.
All those past moments I spent here living and laughing together with Agastya.
Chandra didn't say a word, but I saw a drop of tear rolling down her left cheek speak for her instead.
I held my luggage in my hand and stopped for a second to suck in a deep long breath, and then, turned around, walking away, deciding to never look back.
Whatever happened is in the past.
I did some things that I'm not proud of, but I can say one thing for sure, I truly loved Agastya at this moment.
It's good that he doesn't know, and it will be better if he never finds out any of it.
Goodbye Agastya Dharmatma.
I hope I never see you again.
