In a small facility located in Tangerang, a man wearing a white lab coat that’s ripped and covered in blood was running through the crowds, people run past him and bumping into him as the building keeps flickering red followed by screams and gun shots, he went inside and locked himself in before coughing uncontrollably “PA! KELUAR! KITA BISA CARI SOLUSINYA BERSAMA!! JANGAN BEGINI!! TOLONG BAPAK! BUKA PINTUNYA!” another man screams from outside of the room, “PERGI! SELAMATKAN DULU DIRIMU!! BAPAK SUDAH TIDAK BISA DITOLONG! JANGAN MATI KONYOL!” the man from the inside of the room shouts back before not long after he falls to the ground and starts heaving seizures, his eyes start changing black followed by black liquid that’s coming out from the man.

3 days later, New Jersey – USA.

It’s 08:00 pm, James Kennedy walks around his apartment room while packing his things, he went to his 7 year old son’s room and leaned his shoulders against the door frame, “baby, I know you aren’t asleep yet.” He said as he sighs, Aslan who was pretending to be asleep, sat up with a pout. James chuckles softly “come on baby you need to pack your things for tomorrow, don’t wanna miss the plane.” James said, Aslan pout his cheeks more “can you do it for me dad? I’m tired." Aslan said, James looks at Aslan with a straight look, still waiting for Aslan to get up and pack his things. Aslan looks annoyed, gets up and starts packing his things. James patts Aslan’s head “good, don’t make me ask twice okay kid?” he said before helping Aslan pack his things.

The next day at 6 am they both got into the car and drove off heading to the airport. On the highway they see a long traffic in front of them, James notices the traffic doesn’t seem to move at all before he honks his car and opens the window to see what’s going on, he pokes his head out of the window to look. He then gets his head back inside and sighs, “let’s just go back another way.”. Aslan looks at James confused “wouldn’t that take too long?”. James shakes his head before turning his stirring wheel to turn and drive the other way.

While on the road James notices more traffic heading towards the airport road, he suddenly stops the car on the edge of the road. As he sits there, he feels something was off. “dad, why are we stopping?” Aslan asked innocently. “uh- I don’t… know…” James said a little confused at himself before driving again. At the airport he slowly drives the car to look for the parking lot but couldn’t help but notice people running and screaming out of the airport. Aslan who noticed the scene too looks at James with a terrified look, “dad? What’s going on?” James stops and parked the car while looking at the scene in shock and confusion.

James and Aslan decide to walk into the airport with James carrying Aslan in his arms. They look around and see people screaming, some heaving seizures, and some laying on the ground that seems to be dead, but what’s more terrifying are people start to eat each other and there’s a woman walking around with her neck broken and her body pouring out black liquid.

James who realizes what’s happening turns back and starts running with all his strength while still carrying Aslan in his arms. Aslan looks from behind James’s shoulder, people running and eating each other. Aslan holds on to James tighter as he eyes widened while watching the scene unfold. They managed to get into their car, James quickly turned on the engine and quickly hit the reverse. He then hit the gas but accidentally hit someone, as they paused, suddenly a terrifying man jumped in front of the car, the black liquid that was coming out of the man’s face covered the front window. Aslan screams before James quickly hits the gas again and hits another car, plunging the man between the cars. James then quickly hits the reverse again and drives away.

On the road, James wipes the front window with the car wipers. They both stay quite still in shock, James glances beside him and sees Aslan trembling in shock, James also feels overwhelmed with the whole accident. He holds Aslan’s arms gently while still keeping his eyes on the road. “Baby are you okay?” James said trying to sound fine. Aslan looks at James with wide and traumatized eyes before tears start to roll down, “what was that daddy? What’s happening” James who is still traumatized too and has no idea what’s going on, looks at Aslan with a hesitant look “I- I don’t know” With that Aslan starts hugging both his knees and hides his face between them before a soft sob can be heard. James looks at Aslan with guilt but still overwhelmed sighs, “I’m sorry baby” he said with guilt in his voice.

They’re on their way back to the apartment but happen to see civilians loading the store and any possible place to gather some supplies, James starts speeding up back to their apartment. After they parked the car, James quickly rushed to grab Aslan and ran back inside their apartment. Inside James starts looking through the fridge and cabinets to see if they have enough food to survive. He locks the door and windows shut before searching for his weapons and his collection of firearms. Aslan who was following every James’s steps, held his shirt with a frown “dad are we going to be okay?” he said while still sobbing. James hugs Aslan tightly and kisses his forehead “everything will be fine, I won’t let anything happen to you okay baby? Now I want you to help daddy charge all of our electronics including our power banks and generator okay baby? Can you do that for me?” James said followed by Aslan’s head nods.

Aslan grabbed all the electronics and started charging them, meanwhile James went to the storage room and grabbed the generator to charge. While waiting for the electronics to be full James and Aslan both hear a woman scream, James peeked through the balcony and saw the women getting grabbed and bitten by the infected person. Aslan who was also watching, looked up at James with a sad expression “are we going to help her dad?”. James who was still watching shakes his head and went back inside while holding Aslan’s hand. “No, from now on we’re on our own”.

At nighttime James decided to stay up late to scroll down his laptop, trying to figure out what was going on. News pops up informing people to stay indoors, lock the doors, and stay vigilant due to a mysterious virus that’s spreading across the country. James who’s beginning to worry kept looking through his laptop “across the country? Are there any safe shelters?” he said to himself.

Aslan who couldn’t sleep woke up and went to James for comfort, he walked and laid his head on James’s thigh, startling James. “Baby why aren’t you asleep?” James said worried, “I’m scared, I don’want tona be alone.” Aslan Answered as he snuggled closely to James. “Have you messaged your friends?” James said as he strokes Aslan’s hair. Aslan who never thought about that looked up at James with panic “no, should I?!”. James looks at Aslan also panics “No! no… don’t worry about them, they’re probably fine in their home, just go back to sleep baby.” James said, trying to reassure Aslan to not make him more worried. Aslan who’s still worried decided to listen and went back to sleep.

In the morning James woke up before grabbing his phone to check. He was shocked to find 10 messages and 20+ missed calls, he quickly called back the number and a woman picked up the call, “Thank God! James! I thought you were dead!!” the woman said with a sigh of relief. James who recognizes the voice finally spoke up “Maria? How did you find my number?” James said as he rubbed his eyes and yawns. Maria paused “what? Why is that important? You gave your number- you didn’t save my number, did you?”. James who was in the middle of yawning, shakes his head “like you said, how’s that important? anyways I’m glad you’re still alive, mind telling me what’s going on?” Maria paused before answering “after I did some research there’s a virus that’s been spreading around, the virus came from my home town.” James paused “are your parents-“, before James could finish, Maria cuts him off “no, they don’t seem to have survived based on the dead calls and the worse conditions there, though I’m not sure and I hope they did survive.” James who listened sigh “I’m sorry, are you alone there?” Maria paused before sobbing “yeah, I’m alone. I can’t seem to reach Daniel’s phone and Mr. Hank hasn’t come back since yesterday, his phone also died.” James who heard this looks down to where Aslan is still sleeping, “are you in Hank’s apartment? His apartment isn’t far from mine.” Maria who heard this, wiped her tears away “yeah, I’m at Mr. Hank’s apartment.” Hearing this James sigh “before I go there can you please research for any safe shelter or bunkers?” James said as he carefully moved Aslan’s head to stand and walked towards the balcony. Maria who heard this looks confused “shelters? Why? Aren’t we going to stay at your apartment?”. James peeks through the balcony and sees a swarm of the infected people, he glances at the big creature that’s smashing doors and cars “no, because I only have one risked chance of getting out but not in”. Maria looked outside of the window worried “y- you know maybe saving me is a bad idea, maybe you should stay inside.”. James sighs and shakes his head “No, I have some plans outside.”. Maria looks at the phone annoyed “James! This is literally no different like the zombie apocalypse and you’re worried about plans?!”. James looks at the phone also annoyed “not that kind of plans, I mean that I want to find a better shelter there’s a giant creature smashing doors and cars, it wont take long until that creature finds us and smashes out or even your door down”. Maria looks outside still unsure with the plan just nods and sigh. “okay, thank you James, I owe you one”.

At nighttime, James finished packing his and Aslan's things. "Did you charge everything like I asked you to?" James asked as he grabbed his car key. Aslan nods nervously "yeah, they're all charged". James nods before putting his jacket and helping Aslan put his jacket on.

James carefully opened the door and examined his surroundings before taking Aslan's hand. "Can you carry that?" James asked while looking to his surroundings for any potential danger. Aslan shakes his head "I can pull this just fine." Aslan said as he looks back at the generator on the cart. James nods before holding Aslan's hand and starts walking towards the parking lot. The parking lot was strangely quiet and empty "well, this apartment isn't really a luxurious place, so it's not a surprise, I guess" James said to reassure himself.

They made it to their car and put everything in the car leaving the cart outside. James started the engine and slowly but carefully drove off, making sure not to alert any danger. as they got out from the parking lot they saw the giant monster from before smashing a wall, "jeez, how can we get past that without getting spotted" James sighs. after he said that suddenly a massive wall fell and crashed the thing. James and Aslan who saw this paused in shock, "well, I guess we don't have to run it over after all." James said as he shrugs nonchalantly, Aslan looks at him with a shock face, he then hits the gas and drives away.

They arrived at where Maria stayed. James looks at Aslan and pats his head "stay here okay? I won't be long." James said as he got out of the car. "Dad, I'm scared." Aslan said trying to hold back his tears. "I promise you, I'll be back healthy and fine, okay baby?" James said before he kissed the top of Aslan's head. "Okay, be careful." Aslan hides inside the car. James sighs before walking into the building using the emergency stairs.

James walked up the stairs carefully and made it into the 8th floor. there he saw a woman eating a dead body, before not long the woman left and the half eaten body stands up and starts walking. seeing this James shivered and quickly hides behind the wall where no one could see him. "this is crazy, what am I doing!? I should've stayed in my apartment but here I am, doing stupid shits." James mumbled to himself as he took a deep breath. James slowly and silently starts walking towards the apartment door where Maria is.

he knocked carefully on the door but no answer, he tried turning the door handle and strangely, the door wasn't locked. James quickly got inside and closed the door, James pants heavily and tried to calm himself down, he then heard someone calling his name. "James! thank god you made it! there are a lot of those people out there!" Maria said as she sighed in relief. "yeah, I saw." James nods as he calls himself down.

Maria and James kept peeking through the window and door. "shit, how are we gonna go back?" James said. Maria walks out slowly and quietly before sprinting to the stairs, James was shocked for a moment before following behind her. "kid! next time say something! don't do that stupid shit alone!" James whispered a little annoyed. Maria looks guilty at James "sorry sir", James sighs but decides not to bother as they walk down the stairs.

out the apartment, as they see the car not far from them, they suddenly hear a scream for help. they look far right to see a woman limping and waving her arms as she screams for help, without thinking twice James quickly pulled Maria's arm and ran to the car. Aslan who saw this quickly unlocked the door for easier access. James and Maria quickly went inside the car but before James could close the door suddenly one of the zombies faces got in between the door preventing James to close it. Maria looked around in panic and saw a gun behind James, she quickly grabbed the gun and shot the zombie, the zombie got launched back and James quickly closed the door before he turned on the engine and hit the reverse and drove off.

On the road Maria was lost in thought after what happened while Aslan was in the back seat closing his ears from the shock of the gun shot. James looks back at Aslan worriedly "honey are you alright back there?" James asked as he kept glancing back at Aslan from the rearview mirror. Aslan sobs and stayed quiet while looking out the window before he decided to answer "yeah, I'm alright" he said followed by a few sobs.

Maria sighs before looking at James "I've checked everywhere, but no news or information about a safe shelter. can't we just go back to your apartment?". James paused before shaking his head "all of our food supplies are running out, if we stayed there again, it'll be hard for us to go out again to find food.". Maria sighs again "what about just keep driving away from the city, that way we can avoid any-" before Maria could finish her sentence James cuts in "Raccoon City, i'm thinking of going there, there's a friend of mine who lives there, I've contacted him and I'm thinking of us staying there.". Maria who heard this paused, now looking at James with wide eyes and a suspicious look "Raccoon City? out of nowhere? that's like hours or even days away. why there?" James paused before shrugging suspiciously "like I said, we're staying there."
