“Where am I?" the girl lying in the hospital bed said. She looked around but no one in the room except her. She recalled what happens before…

“I only remember that I jump in the bridge” she remembered that she was in a bridge and under is a lake. ‘I suffered enough I just want to finish everything! Why didn’t I die when I jump!’ she thought to herself.

While she was thinking about why she didn’t die the door in the room opened. She looked at the door, she saw her mom and dad. “Phoebe!” her mom called her.

Her tears fall as she saw her parents. She wants to hug them she wants to cry while embracing them. When her mom went near her, her body reacts. Her body rejects her mom and somewhat she felt disgusted.

She falls down the bed as when her body avoids her mom. “PHOEBE! PHOEBE! Are you alright?” Her mom was shocked. Her dad went beside her mom.

Her mom tried to walk towards her and help her get up. Her mom saw her shivering in fright when she tried to go near her. “Phoebe?” her mom was confused and so is her dad. Her dad immediately calls the doctor and nurse.

Minutes have passed the doctor and nurse went inside the room. They saw Phoebe lying on the floor shivering and looked afraid.

“Doctor Lee what happened to my daughter! She… I was trying to hug her then suddenly she avoids me that she fell in the bed. She-she was afraid she was shi-shivering from fright! WHA-WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DAUGHTER!” her mom asked the doctor. Her mom was crying saying it with panic and worry in her voice.

Phoebe looked at her mom, she wants to her mom that she was fine…she was okay there is nothing to worry but she can’t her body won’t move, and she was afraid.

‘I read in some novels when someone got an accident she/he will have amnesia. Why didn’t it happen to me! They got amnesia because they experience bad things and want to forget…but me too I experience bad things almost every day for the past four years. I endure it I don’t want to tell my parents about it, but I get too tired that I jump in the bridge to end it’ Phoebe thought to herself while looking at her parents.

*FLASHBACK*

It was when a guy named Aaron looked for Phoebe in her classroom. Aaron was a famous guy, he has many followers on social media and most of the female students in the school know him.

Even Selena Phoebe’s best friend since, the first year of high school has a crush on Aaron. She always tells Phoebe about how awesome Aaron is. She would say that Aaron is so great at basketball.

But there is one thing that Aaron is not good at and it was studying. He didn’t fail the exams but unlike in novels popular guys are smart and always at the top, Aaron is average.

Phoebe is not infatuated in Aaron even though he is one of the popular guys in the school. She had it you could say, she was good at sports, good at studying, and loving parents and siblings.

“Is Phoebe in the room?” Aaron asked one of the students in the room. The student point at Phoebe who is talking in front of Selena.

“Phoebe someone is looking for you!” The student that Aaron said loud to Phoebe. Phoebe looked at the door she saw Aaron. Phoebe looked at Selena who was also confused.

“Phoebe, Aaron is calling you! You should go let’s talk later” Selena said while smiling at her best friend. Phoebe nods at her and stands in her seat and walks towards Aaron…

“Why are you looking for me?” Phoebe asked Aaron. “Can we talk when no people around?” Aaron asked back at Phoebe. Phoebe was confused and just followed Aaron.

They are at the secluded place in the school. Even Phoebe didn’t know the place. “Phoebe I like you since the first time I met you!” Aaron confessed at Phoebe.

Phoebe was shocked and didn’t know what to utter. She was silent for a minute then she tried to open her mouth, but was stopped by Aaron. “Please don’t answer me yet…I know you don’t like me yet… before answering me please give me a chance” Aaron pleaded.

Phoebe looked at Aaron and nod her head. She didn’t plan to give Aaron a chance but looking at Aaron pleading she can’t refuse. “But I will only give you one month,” she said.

“One month is more than enough,” he said while smiling so brightly. This was the first time Phoebe saw Aaron smile like that. Though that was the first time she looked at Aaron other than Selena asked her too.

After Phoebe and Aaron talked, Phoebe went back to Selena. It was lunch break at that time, so it was free time to chat for the students.

  “Phoebe, what did you and Aaron talked about?” Selena asked her. Phoebe’s heart raced a bit after hearing Selena asking about what she and Aaron talked about. She was afraid that she would hurt Selena.

“I think I know! Looking at your expression and not wanting to talk about it… It only means one thing!” Selena said looking at Phoebe seriously. “I think he confessed to you!” Selena added.

Phoebe was shocked, she didn’t think that Selena would guess right. “I-I tried to refuse him but he pleads that before I answer him I should give him a chance,” Phoebe said looking sad and pitiful in front of Selena.

“Then give him a chance IDIOT… I don’t mind you are my best friend I would not hurt if you became his girlfriend” Selena said while smiling.

Phoebe knows that Selena is lying. She knows that Selena liked Aaron for so long that she was hurt right now because Aaron confessed at Phoebe. Phoebe just became silent after it and don’t know what to say…

It’s been a week since Phoebe is in the hospital. Most of her bruises are almost healed but there was a fracture in her bone that will be healed in three months.

She was looking at the window beside her for almost half a day. She hasn't slept well since she woke up from her sleep after the accident.

Whenever she tries to close her eyes many unforgettable scenes are popping. And that was the reason why she couldn’t sleep at all. All those painful memories resurface whenever she falls asleep, a nightmare that whenever she goes it follows like a shadow.

“How did your day miss Phoebe?” A smiling nurse asked her. She was Lyra Bell Columba, the assigned nurse for Phoebe. She took care of her food and medicines.

“…” Phoebe just stayed silent and didn’t bother to look at Lyra. Lyra was dejected when she saw Phoebe didn’t bother her. ‘I pity her...” she thought towards Phoebe.

“Miss please kindly drink this medicine after eating this meal,” She said looking at her patient. ‘She is such an obedient girl… even though she was scared of people she still obeys and drinks her medicine and eats her food’ Lyra thought.

“Miss Phoebe Tomorrow Dr. Vega would visit you for your weekly check-up” Lyra added and went out of the room.

In the evening, a guy went inside the room “PHOEBE!” the guy on the white coat said with a smile on the face. Phoebe looked at him but her face reaction didn’t change at all.

The guy’s face can be described as enticing. He was simply gorgeous, His nose, his eyes, and lips are all eye-catching.

“How are you Phoebe?” the guy said, he looks kind of playful when he asked Phoebe. Phoebe just stared at him not uttering a word.

“Seems like you have another nightmare I guess,” He said while sitting on the couch inside the room.

‘Why is this guy always here?’ Phoebe thought to herself while she looked away and looked once again in the window.

“Your mom and dad visit you this morning right? I saw them in the hallway this morning talking to miss Lyra” The guy said.

‘This guy doesn’t need to tell me that! Ugh, I just want to be by myself.’ She thought. She hates it when the unknown guy always visits her.

“Now that I think about it. It’s been a week since I always visit you but I didn’t say my name” The guy said while thinking.

“Then I should introduce myself,” The guy said while smiling. ‘I don’t want to know your name, I just want you to leave’ she thought to herself.

She tried and tried to utter and voice out everything in her mind over the past few weeks but her mouth just won’t open.

“I am Alfred Kyle Cruz! I am a resident doctor after one more year I would be a surgeon” He introduced himself like he was in class.

“Ohhh!!! Right did you…” before he could finish what he was saying he was interrupted by the guy who opened the door.

“Kyle! Dr. Lee is looking for you! You are here all this time you are such…” The guy at the door stopped before cursing Kyle when he saw the patient in the room looking at him.

“Jason! Dr. Lee is looking for me? but it was my break!” Kyle said with a dejected face. He looked so pitiful like a dog that was scolded.

“Ahhh! Before that Phoebe, I would like to introduce to you the soon to be a doctor… The resident doctor Jason Aku Albatross! He will be a surgeon too” Kyle excitedly introduced.

“Miss Phoebe I am sorry for this annoying guy who is always here visiting you!” Jason said apologetically. He went inside and grabbed the ear of Kyle and said “Come here!”.

Phoebe just looked at the two guys walking outside the door.

“You BITCH! *****! SEDUCER!” a girl grabs the hair of Phoebe. “Isn’t enough that all the guys liked you! DO YOU NEED TO GRAB ALSO MY BOYFRIEND!” the girl shouts.

“Ah! Ah! It hurts… I did not steal any guy at all!” Phoebe defended herself.

Many students of the campus were watching them, some of them throwing insults at Phoebe and helping the girl grabbing Phoebe’s hair.

“DENYING won’t save BITCH!” the girl said. While grabbing Phoebe’s hair as she walks to the nearby pond of the school, he throws Phoebe in the pond.

“This is only the start! Your life from now on will be a living HELL!” the girl said as she said with a devil smile on her face.

‘Only the start? But I have always been living hell since that day… THE DAY I WAS BETRAYED!’ Phoebe thought to herself.

“I am looking forward,” Phoebe said while smiling sweetly as if she didn’t care at all. ‘I was framed on stealing your boyfriend! Tsk as if your boyfriend was so handsome! Your boyfriend looks like a shit…’ Phoebe wants to yell it to her but she just smiles.

She walked out of the pond. She runs into the Girl’s locker room to change her clothes. But when she was inside she saw her ex-boyfriend and friend talking to each other and insulting her.

“ENOUGH! ENOUGH! NO! I- I am NOT LIKE WHAT YOU SAY!” Phoebe shouts but suddenly when she opened her eyes she saw that she was in the Hospital room.

‘Nightmare’ she thought, she didn’t notice there was a person in the room looking at her while holding the curtain in the window.

After the person saw her awake she Phoebe saw a warm smile on the face of the person. The person went almost near her and said “Another nightmare?”.

Phoebe nods her head, “Then I will stay here for a while to accompany you until you fall asleep once again” The person said with a warm smile like consoling and trying to protect her from harm.

“Phoebe!” A guy immediately went to the little girl who fell on the ground while she was running towards him.

The guy helped the little girl to stand up and asked “are you alright?” you can see the worry on the guy’s face.

The little girl smiled at the guy and nodded her head stating that she was fine. The little girl’s eye was watery because of the wounds in her knee, she was hurt.

“But why do you look like you're about to cry?” The guy said with a worried and teasing tone. The guy is older than the little girl in just a few years.

“Bro-Brother… sniff sniff” The little girl who is trying so hard not to cry, cried so much in the arm of the guy. She tried her best not to cry and act bravely but her so-called brother just teases her.

“I thought you were fine?” he smirked when he said that. He somewhat loved to tease the little girl. “Well I know you are hurt, so don’t act bravely in front of me okay!” he said while he puts his hand in her head and pats her.

“Mhnn…” Phoebe woke up from her slumber, she had a good night's sleep after her nightmare. And it was the first time after so long.

After she tried to sit down she saw a silhouette of a guy looking at the window. The guy looked at her and smiled brightly when he saw Phoebe woke up. “You are awake!” he said.

Kyle went to the couch. He didn’t dare try to walk close to her because of her situation. He was afraid that he would scare her if he tried to go near her.

“When I went inside, I saw you sleeping… so I just wait for you,” Kyle said with a warm smile. He always visits Phoebe every time he has time to see if Phoebe was okay.

Phoebe just looked at the guy leisurely sitting on the couch. She was a bit annoyed to see him every time she woke up. ‘It’s still early in the morning but you are here! Do have work!’ That is what she wanted to say but she still couldn’t.

But she was still improving, because of psychological trauma and mental illness, and about the accident, the doctor said that it is normal that she was afraid to talk to others but it’s only temporary.

“I talked to some nurse and I just knew that you have a problem and couldn’t speak… I thought you were annoyed at me, that is why you are not talking to me whenever I talk to you” Kyle said he was smiling but his eyes looked so sad.

‘Bullseye’ she thought, she was annoyed that she wanted to tell him to leave but too bad she couldn’t talk to him that is why he is still there sitting on the couch.

Kyle who is talking and telling a story about his last vacation in the mountain for almost an hour was interrupted by the knock on the door. “Dr. Cruz! Dr. Cloud is looking for you; he needs you right now…” The nurse said.

Alfred looked at the clock “Right! I forgot, tell Dr. Cloud! I will be right there!” He said while he stood up. He looked at Phoebe, he was enjoying telling the story to Phoebe at the moment but he needs to do a very important job that he needs to leave immediately. He bid farewell to Phoebe and immediately walked out of the room.

When he left Mother of Phoebe, Ophelia went inside. She was carrying a bouquet of lavender rose. Lavender rose was Phoebe’s favorite flower, she loves the color of it. She also likes the meaning of the flower.

“Seems like your friend Dr. Cruz visited you again,” she said with a smile on her face. She was happy that someone would visit her daughter. She and his husband can’t always visit her because of work. While his brother is busy studying from another city.

“OH! Today is the day of your check-up right I almost forgot” her mother said. She was so busy at work that she almost forgot that Dr. Vega would be coming today for Phoebe’s check-up.

Ophelia gets some apples on the counter. “Do you want some apple, I peel some for you” she starts peeling the apple, she knew that Phoebe won’t say a word or make a reaction about it. But whenever she peels some fruit for Phoebe, Phoebe would always eat it.

It was the time Dr. Vega came inside the room where Phoebe was. “Are you doing alright, Miss Phoebe?” Dr. Vega said when he went inside. “Mrs. Callisto you are here!” Dr. Vega greeted Ophelia.

“Dr. Vega” Ophelia greeted Dr. Vega. She was standing on the side talking to her daughter when Dr. Vega and a nurse knocked and went inside the room.

Dr. Vega starts the check-up. He walked towards Phoebe who was afraid of people, that is why when he was near Phoebe, Phoebe just started to tremble.

After looking and examining Phoebe, Dr. Vega leisurely walked to the couch to sit down. He starts asking a question to Phoebe and so on.

It lasts for half an hour, after that Dr. Vega talked to Ophelia about Phoebe and her medication.

“I think your daughter is slowly improving,” Dr. Vega said with a smile. Dr. Vega is not always at the hospital. So there is a scheduled time for check-ups.

“It only needs time and effort, just trust your daughter and support her” Dr. Vega added. Ophelia starts to tear up when she hears that her daughter is improving.

“Thank you! Dr. Vega” she said, she was thankful because her daughter was improving. She promised herself that she will never abandon her daughter and will always be there by her side. She was thankful that her daughter was fighting and trying everything she could.
