College Drama. ( Nobita X Dekisugi )

The city hadn’t changed much. Eight years… and yet the same street corners, the scent of bakery bread, the sound of bicycle bells. All of it came rushing back the moment he stepped off the train. Dekisugi adjusted the strap of his leather bag on his shoulder. His polished shoes clicked softly against the pavement as he walked toward the college gates. His heart beat a little faster, not because it was his first day at college — but because of something, someone, else

It’s been eight years… I wonder if you still remembers me. Nobita.

He’d only been ten when they moved to Europe. His father’s job demanded it. At first, it was exciting — new countries, new languages. But all through it, a boy with messy black hair and a clumsy smile haunted his memories like sunlight through closed windows. Dekisugi sighed softly, brushing a strand of hair back from his forehead. His uniform was neatly pressed, of course — cream blazer, navy slacks. He was always the well-put-together one. He glanced down at his watch. *7:58 AM.*

College begins at 8:10. I have time.
And then—**bam!** A body slammed into him from the side, knocking the books from his hand.
...anyone...
...anyone...
Ah—! Sorry, sorry!
The boy didn’t even stop. He dashed off, backpack bouncing, racing toward the college gate. Dekisugi blinked in surprise, crouching to pick up his scattered books. He caught a glimpse of the boy's silhouette from behind — tall, maybe around 175 cm, hair slightly tousled, uniform a little loose. There was something familiar about that hurried apology, the awkward run… He stared after him.

Dekisugi Hidetoshi
…Was that…?
He never got to finish the thought. **WHACK.** A rubber ball came flying across the college grounds — out of nowhere — and smacked him square on the temple. Everything tilted sideways.

💭Oh no… not again…
Darkness.
A soft beeping. The faint scent of antiseptic. Something warm was draped over his forehead — a cold pack. Dekisugi groaned softly and opened his eyes. White ceiling. Pale curtains. A quiet fan spinning in the corner. And someone was sitting next to him — on a small wooden stool, arms crossed, clearly bored out of his mind. The boy noticed him stirring.
...anyone...
...anyone...
Oh! You’re awake. Finally.
Dekisugi blinked, squinting at the boy’s sharp features and distinct hairstyle. Tall spikes, expensive watch, cocky grin. His shirt collar was unbuttoned casually. He looked like the type to own a sports car by second year.

What… happened?
Suneo
Suneo
You got knocked out. Some idiot kicked a football too hard during morning practice. You took the hit. Clean KO. Like a movie.
Dekisugi winced as he sat up slowly. His head throbbed.
Suneo
Suneo
Name’s Suneo. First-year. Business major. You?

Dekisugi hesitated, rubbing his temple before replying.

…Dekisugi Hidetoshi. First-year as well. Literature.
Suneo’s eyes widened, and he leaned in suddenly, squinting.
Suneo
Suneo
Wait. Dekisugi? As in— *Dekisugi Dekisugi?* From Nobita’s old class?!
Dekisugi tilted his head.
Dekisugi Hidetoshi
Dekisugi Hidetoshi
You know Nobita?
Suneo
Suneo
Know him? We went to the same junior high and high school after you left. Sometimes while being drunk He never shuts up about how smart you were.
A warmth rushed through Dekisugi’s chest. He looked down, trying to hide the involuntary smile tugging at his lips.
Dekisugi Hidetoshi
Dekisugi Hidetoshi
…He still remembers me?
Suneo snorted.
Suneo
Suneo
Oh, absolutely. Nobita would get so dramatic every time we had an drink . ‘Dekisugi would’ve done this better. Dekisugi wouldn’t forget formulas. Dekisugi wouldn’t fall asleep in class.' *(mocking voice)*
Dekisugi laughed softly — and then winced. His head still ached.
Dekisugi Hidetoshi
Dekisugi Hidetoshi
Good to know I became a standard.
Suneo stood up, stretching.
Suneo
Suneo
Well, you’re gonna see him soon anyway. You’re in Humanities, right? He’s in the same building.
Dekisugi’s heart skipped. He was finally here. In the same city. The same school. With the boy he hadn’t been able to forget.
Dekisugi Hidetoshi

💭I wonder what he’s like now… Eight years is a long time. Has he changed? Has he grown taller?
Dekisugi Hidetoshi
Dekisugi Hidetoshi
💭…Does he still smile like he used to?
Suneo
Suneo
C’mon, Dekisugi. I’ll show you the way to the main hall. You look like you might faint again if left unsupervised.
Dekisugi rolled his eyes but followed, clutching his bag. He didn’t know what lay ahead — but the thought of seeing Nobita again made his fingers tremble with anticipation. And he hadn’t even realized… The boy who bumped into him earlier — was the very boy he came back for.

The sunlight filtered softly through the towering ginkgo trees, casting dappled shadows across the bustling campus courtyard. Dekisugi followed Suneo down the paved path, clutching his bag close to his side. The lingering dizziness from the morning still hummed faintly, but the warmth of the day and Suneo’s chatter were steadying him. Suneo waved toward a cluster of students gathered near the benches.
Suneo
Suneo
There they are — Gian and Shizuka. Come on.
Dekisugi’s eyes scanned the group before settling on the two. Gian stood broad-shouldered and confident, arms folded as he talked. Shizuka, graceful as ever, listened attentively, her dark hair catching the sunlight. As they approached, Suneo cleared his throat.
Suneo
Suneo
Hey, everyone. I want you to meet someone.
He nodded toward Dekisugi
Suneo
Suneo
This is Dekisugi Hidetoshi — the ‘genius’ from Nobita’s old class. Yeah, the one who left without a word eight years ago.
Gian’s eyes widened slightly, his usual tough-guy demeanor softening in surprise.

No way... Dekisugi-kun? That Dekisugi?

Thank you. It’s good to see familiar faces.
Just then, footsteps echoed nearby. A figure approached them casually. And then Dekisugi’s breath caught.
This was Nobita — but not the Nobita he remembered. Gone were the oversized glasses. Gone was the slouching, timid boy of his childhood memories. In their place stood a young man tall and broad-shouldered, his posture straight, confident. His hair was neatly styled, and his eyes held a quiet strength Dekisugi hadn’t expected. Nobita’s gaze flicked over the group, landing on Dekisugi.

His voice was calm — almost detached. Suneo grinned like this was just another day.
Suneo
Suneo
Yeah. Came back after eight years. Figured you’d want to say hi.
Nobita nodded once, expression unreadable.
Nobita
Nobita
Hm. Doesn’t really change anything.
The words hit Dekisugi like a sharp wind. He blinked, struggling to keep his composure.

💭Doesn’t matter? After everything… after all those years, it doesn’t matter?
He forced a polite smile.

I’m glad to be here again.
Nobita turned away slightly, as if brushing off the conversation. Gian gave a low whistle.
Gian
Gian
Man, Nobita’s a whole different guy now, huh?
Shizuka nodded thoughtfully.
Shizuka

He’s grown a lot… in more ways than one.
Dekisugi swallowed the sudden lump in his throat. He thought back to the boy who used to trip over words, who would nervously adjust his glasses when embarrassed. And here stood a man — poised, distant, almost cold.
Dekisugi’s fingers tightened around the strap of his bag. He felt a mix of longing and hurt, but he wouldn’t let it show. He’d always been the composed one — the reliable one — the one who kept his feelings folded away like a letter never sent. But the truth was, Nobita’s words cut deeper than he wanted to admit.

💭Maybe he’s trying to protect himself too… Or maybe he’s moved on. But I can’t… I just can’t.
Suneo, sensing the shift in mood, clapped Dekisugi on the back.
Suneo
Suneo
Hey, don’t let it get to you. Nobita’s just… complicated.
Dekisugi nodded, giving a small laugh.

I suppose old friends are never as simple as they seem.
Nobita glanced back over his shoulder.
Nobita
Nobita
Don’t expect me to act like nothing’s changed. We’re not kids anymore.
Dekisugi met his eyes.
A moment passed between them — heavy with unspoken memories.
Suneo grinned, breaking the tension.
Suneo
Suneo
Well, enough of the nostalgia. Let’s get to class before Professor Yamada starts complaining.
Gian and Shizuka nodded, beginning to gather their things. Nobita lingered a moment longer, then stepped closer to Dekisugi. His voice dropped just low enough for only Dekisugi to hear.

If you want to catch up… don’t expect it to be easy.
Dekisugi’s heart raced. He nodded, words caught in his throat.

I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Nobita gave a brief smile, then turned and walked away, blending into the crowd of students. Dekisugi exhaled, feeling the weight of years and the hope of new beginnings mingling in his chest.

The sun was dipping low, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. The playground was quiet except for the faint chirping of cicadas. Nobita’s heart pounded loudly in his chest. He clutched a small, crumpled note in his hand — words he’d rehearsed a thousand times but still felt impossible to say aloud.
There, sitting alone beneath the big oak tree, was Dekisugi — reading a book, his brows furrowed in concentration. Nobita swallowed his fear, took a shaky step forward. Nobita said in voice barely above a whisper

Dekisugi… I… I like you.
The words tumbled out awkwardly, raw and honest. Dekisugi looked up, eyes wide with surprise. For a moment, everything froze. Then, without a word, Dekisugi stood abruptly and started walking away.

Wait! Please… don’t go.
But Dekisugi didn’t stop. Nobita’s chest tightened — a sharp sting like the autumn chill in the air.

Nobita sank to the ground, clutching his note like a lifeline.

I told him how I felt, but he ran away… Does that mean he hates me?
Doraemon moved closer and placed a gentle hand on Nobita’s shoulder.

Nobi, feelings are complicated. Sometimes people need time to understand them — even themselves.
Nobita sniffled, wiping his tears.

But it hurts so much. I don’t want to be rejected….

You’re not alone. And you don’t have to carry this pain forever.
He pulled out a small gadget from his pocket — a sparkling little hourglass with a soft glow.
Doremon

This is the ‘Growth Timer.’ It doesn’t erase feelings, but it helps you heal and become stronger. To face your fears, to be brave in your own way.
Nobita looked at the hourglass, hope flickering in his eyes.

It will help you grow. And growing up means learning to carry your feelings without fear.
Nobita nodded slowly.

Present Day – Nobita’s Dorm Room, Early Morning
Nobita sat on the edge of his bed, staring at the window as dawn light spilled in. His hands trembled slightly as he adjusted the sleeve of his shirt. He thought back to that day — the confession, the running away, the tears.
But now, something had changed. He was taller. Stronger. Different. And yet… The memory still weighed on him. A soft knock came at the door.
Shizuka
Shizuka
Hey Nobita, you coming to breakfast?
Nobita took a deep breath, his lips curling into a small, determined smile.
Nobita
Nobita
Yeah… I’m coming.
He stood, feeling the unfamiliar but welcome steadiness in his heart.
Nobita

I’ve changed. I’ve grown. And maybe one day, I can say the things I couldn’t before… without running away.
