“Beneath the Veil”
Episode 1
[Hospital – Night. Dim light. Rain tapping against the window. Heart monitor beeping softly.]
🐾 A black cat sits silently beside the bed, its glowing eyes watching everything.
🛏️ Sung-hee lies weakly on the hospital bed, slowly opening her eyes.
Lia
Lia: Sung-hee… oh my god… you’re awake!
sung hee
Sung-hee (weak voice): …Where… am I?
Lia
Lia: You were in a car accident. It was horrible… I was so scared! 😭
(wiping fake tears, looking around nervously)
sung hee
Sung-hee (glancing at the cat): …Who… is this cat?
Lia
Lia: I-I don’t know. It followed the ambulance… weird, right?
(The cat stares at Lia. Its tail flicks once.)
🌀 [Sung-hee’s eyes begin to drift… her memories come back…]
🌀 [2 Years Ago – Morning. Shinhwa High School, Seoul]
📚 The bell rings. Students laugh and chat in the hallway. Sung-hee walks in alone, hugging her books close.
sung hee
Sung-hee (Narration):
I thought high school would be the best time of my life.
And I thought... she was my best friend.
Lia
Lia: Hee-ya! You’re late again! Come on, let’s go before class starts~ 😊
sung hee
Sung-hee (smiling shyly): Sorry, I missed the bus...
Lia
Lia: It’s okay! You know I’ll always wait for you~
(linking arms with her, pretending to be sweet)
[In Class – Students Whispering]
Girl 1
Girl 1: Why does Lia hang out with her?
Girl 2
Girl 2: Maybe she feels pity. Sung-hee’s so weird...
sung hee
Sung-hee (narration):
I heard the whispers… every day.
But Lia always said—
Lia
Lia: “Don’t listen to them. I’m on your side.”
📍 [Cafeteria – Lunchtime, Shinhwa High]
🍛 Students chatter while standing in line for food. Lia stands at the front, smiling sweetly.
Lia
Lia: Hee-ya! Come quick! I saved your spot! 😊
sung hee
Sung-hee: Really? Thanks, Lia~
(walks up with her tray, smiling)
Suddenly — SPLASH!
🍛 Curry rice spills all over Sung-hee’s uniform.
👥 GASPS from students around.
Girl 1
Girl 1: Ew, it’s all over her!
sung hee
Sung-hee (shocked): A-Ah…!
Lia
Lia: Oh no! I didn’t mean to…! 😰
(fake panic, hands over tissues)
"I'm so sorry, Hee-ya! My tray just slipped!"
sung hee
Sung-hee (embarrassed): …It’s okay. I know you didn’t do it on purpose…
sung hee
Sung-hee (narration):
I believed her.
Even when everyone stared, and I felt like crawling into a hole…
I still believed
📸 Behind that sweet smile… her plan worked.
Lia
Lia (thinking):
Just like that, you look like the clumsy one.
And I look like the caring friend.
Step one: humiliation — done.
[Later – Rooftop, After School]
🌇 The sky turns pink. Sung-hee holds a folded letter close to her chest.
sung hee
Sung-hee: Lia… can I ask you something?
Lia
Lia: Of course~ what’s up? 😇
sung hee
Sung-hee (shy): I… I like Ji-hoon.
Can you give this letter to him? I’m too scared…
Lia
Lia (frozen):
Ji-hoon…?
sung hee
Sung-hee: Please? Don’t tell anyone ...
Lia
Lia (fake smile): Of course, bestie. I’ll help you. 💌
sung hee
Sung-hee (narration):
I didn’t see her hand trembling…
Or the flicker of anger in her eyes.
[That Night – Lia’s Room]
✂️ Lia opens the letter. Smirks. Tosses it aside.
📝 She writes a new one…
> “I hate you. Don’t talk to me again. You’re disgusting.”
Lia
Lia (smirking):
Let’s see how much he likes you after this.
Episode 2
[Next Day – Classroom]
Ji-hoon reads the letter quietly. His smile fades. He looks confused… and hurt.
Girl 2
Girl 2: Did you see Ji-hoon’s face? What was in that letter?
sung hee
Sung-hee (confused): Why isn’t he smiling at me today…?
Lia
Lia (smiling softly at her):
Don’t worry. I’m sure he got the message~
sung hee
Sung-hee (narration):
I didn’t know what she’d done.
Not yet.
I still thought she was my best friend…
But every day, she was destroying me from the inside out.
sung hee
Sung-hee (narration):
My heart was racing…
Did Ji-hoon read the letter?
Did he… like me too?
She sneaks a glance at him. Ji-hoon is silent, staring at his desk.
The teacher walks out. The class starts talking.
ji- hoon
Ji-hoon (suddenly stands):
“Hey, Sung-hee!”
sung hee
Sung-hee: (smiling nervously) …Y-Yes?
ji- hoon
Ji-hoon (coldly):
“I hate you.”
ji- hoon
Ji-hoon:
“I never expected that from you.
Why would you even write that? It’s disgusting.”
He pulls a crumpled letter from his pocket and throws it toward the open window.
✉️ The letter flies out.
sung hee
Sung-hee (narration):
My heart… shattered.
This wasn’t happening.
sung hee
Sung-hee (trembling):
W-What did I…?
Her eyes blur with tears. The room spins.
Girl 1
Girl 1: What a weird girl…
Girl 2
Girl 2: So desperate for attention...
Lia
Lia (putting on a shocked face):
Sung-hee! No… I gave him your letter like you asked! 😢
I don’t know why he’s reacting like that...
She hugs Sung-hee in front of everyone.
Lia
Lia (thinking):
Yes. Cry. Fall apart in front of them.
I look like the good one again.
Sung-hee stands frozen, tears streaming down her face. The classroom is filled with whispers and judgmental stares.
Lia
Lia (pretending to be shocked):
Sung-hee… no… I’m so sorry… 😢
I gave him your letter like you asked. I don’t know why he reacted that way…
She rushes over and hugs Sung-hee tightly — all eyes on them.
Lia
Lia (loudly, for everyone to hear):
Don’t cry, okay? I’m here for you. Always…
Gasps and whispers fill the air again.
Girl 1
Girl 1: Aww… Lia is such a kind friend.
ten
ten : Sung-hee’s lucky to have her.
sung hee
Sung-hee (narration):
I stood there in her arms…
Shaking.
Crying.
Bleeding inside.
Her hug felt warm to everyone else…
But to me, it was ice-cold.
Lia’s eyes slowly open while hugging.
Lia
Lia (thinking, smirking softly):
That’s right.
Let them all see how “good” I am.
Let them pity you and praise me.
Lia
Lia (thinking):
Step two: Make her fall apart…
and let me be the hero.
Lia slowly wipes Sung-hee’s tears… looking like an angel.
sung hee
Sung-hee (narration):
I still didn’t realize…
She was the one holding the knife…
While the whole class clapped for her “kindness.”
[Outside the Window]
🐾 The black cat watches silently from the ledge. Its glowing eyes narrow.
A storm is coming.
Episode 3: "The Curse That Saved Me"
📍 [After School – Late Afternoon. Rain Has Stopped]
Students exit the school gate in groups, giggling under umbrellas.
Sung-hee and Lia walk silently. Sung-hee’s hair is damp. She clutches her soaked bag.
sung hee
Sung-hee (softly):
Lia… why am I always so unlucky?
Lia
Lia (gently):
Don’t say that, Hee. It’s not your fault… people are just mean.
sung hee
Sung-hee (looking down):
First the bullying…
Then Ji-hoon…
I feel like the world hates me.
[Bus Stop Nearby – Empty, Quiet]
A broken streetlight flickers. Water drips from the bench.
Sung-hee walks toward the bench, ready to sit.
sung hee
Sung-hee (thinking):
Just a few minutes of peace… away from stares, whispers, lies…
Suddenly — a piercing cry!
Sung-hee jumps, startled. A black cat is standing right in front of the bench, hissing loudly at her, tail puffed.
sung hee
Sung-hee:
What the—?! Why are you—
???
🐈⬛ Veil hisses again and bolts into the road, vanishing. Meow meow!!
Lia
Lia (frowning):
What’s that psycho cat doing here again…?
sung hee
Sung-hee (annoyed):
It’s like it doesn’t want me to sit…
[Seconds Later – CRASH!!!]
💥 A speeding car SKIDS on the wet road —
Bus stop shelter —
Right where Sung-hee was about to sit.
l crunches. Glass shatters. A scream echoes in the street.
sung hee
Sung-hee (frozen, breathless):
…W-What…?
Lia
Lia (shocked):
Oh my god… if you had sat down—
sung hee
Sung-hee (whispers):
The cat… it warned me.
She turns — the black cat is standing far across the street, completely still. Its yellow eyes locked on her.
🐾 Raindrops fall. A faint wind circles her
📍 [On the Bus – Later. Sung-hee is Silent.]
The bus drives through the wet streets. Lia keeps checking her phone.
sung hee
Sung-hee (thinking):
Was it a coincidence…?
sung hee
First, it hissed.
Then it disappeared.
And then… I was saved.
She glances out the foggy window
sung hee
Sung-hee (thinking):
Maybe the world isn’t just cruel.
Maybe something is guiding me… protecting me… in strange, scary ways.
🐈⬛ The black cat — Veil — walks calmly through the streetlight glow.
Its tail sways. Its eyes shine gold.
A small smirk forms on its dark feline face.
sung hee
Sung-hee (narration):
I didn’t know what you were.
But that night, something changed.
sung hee
You weren’t a curse.
You were my veil.
