Synopsis

Asia is a beautiful and vast continent where countries in South East such as the Philippines, Japan, China, Taiwan, etc. reside. Many folks have registered stories of old which they called Urban Legends that dated back decades of centuries ago are noted to be scary, historic or heroic. But this legendary story I am about to tell you will make you think and realize about your existence. That reading this urban legend will make you rethink if you are part of their lineage or not?

Keyoshi is tagged as the village’s finest, fear less girl alongside Yuna, the former’s challenger in the Hunt’s game. She is part of a clan in an ancient village called Mimiko. Mimiko Village has tradition that to be able to grow strong, and be part of a powerful hunting team, young girls at the age of 13 years will need to travel West and fight all goblins and dark spirits (dead monsters) that they will face in a land a hundred kilometers away from their village, called Yomi (land where a living could never go back alive). Yomi is an island where humans who lived an evil life will get trapped here. Yomi has a man-spirit king named King Aatma. As a keeper his duty is to restore peace and keep the souls good or evil in their place, locked inside the island centuries old and the new. Souls from centuries ago have been chained and bounded not to leave that island until a self-less and courageous huntress/ hunter free them but with a price, which is sacrificing herself for the freedom of these heartless demonoids.

Ten brave girls from ten tribes including Mimiko join the contest. Keyoshi is one of the girls sent out as representative along with her rival Yuna. Keyoshi hates Yuna since this girl has defeated her last year by points in the “Hunt” game, which she always excels ever since.

If hunters kill animals for fun and food. Hunting monsters is different, because these girls will need to find these horrid spirits or hungry soul-eating monsters before they find them first to suck or kill them alive.

Keyoshi needs to set her hate aside since Yuna will be her partner in the quest to seek and fight the Jiangshis in that God forsaken land.

Keyoshi is one valiant huntress that no one can defeat with her own game. Yet, only one girl can, and that is Yuna. Keyoshi only fears one thing.

Yuna is flawless and has a boyfriend named Isaac who is one of the heads of a hunting pact at Mimiko. There are five hunting pacts in the city namely Miriad, Kari, Shito, Kabu, and Ferion. Isaac and Yuna are part of Shito clan. Keyoshi is part of Miriad that always challenges, defeats Shito in the Hunt or all hunts for the village. What will happen when Keyoshi is teamed with Yuna? Isaac will fight for his place in Yuna’s heart. Yuna has an all-time crush with Keyoshi and will not stop until she gets noticed by the fearless heroine of their village. These five pacts hunt and trap spirits and monsters to celebrate the Hunting Season. Yuna always tries to beat Keyoshi but she couldn’t but now maybe she has a chance.

Kabu’s champions Sindid (called “Gull”, the tallest, fiercest half man-half monster in Asia) and Nidar, the small but wise boy next door hunter, who girls love whenever he comes to visit and join along with other fighters from different tribes or islanders for contests such as the “Hunt”.

     Mimiko Island

Warriors

Kari’s Invincibles,  Acamara, an Octo Gypsy Fighter that uses her octopus extensions to strangle her opponents to death and Sarasti, the bear warrior Magi who has the strength of a hundred men in battle yet with a heart so soft and calm.

Ferion, though from across a hundred miles below the ocean sea bed, and from Mimiko Island, has Tilly, a reptile warrior, who can swim the fastest and dive even up to the deepest scary recesses of the sea which no man nor woman has ever gone to. She has a friend companion in the race to qualify for The Hunt competition, he is Keno, a half Gnome, half man, who can transform into a sea-monster.

Many fighters, hunters and warriors, be it of royal blood or commoner, joins the yearly competition not only to regain their title or to steal the throne of Champion Hunters. The winners will be given their own furnished homes in or out of their resident tribes, and will also be presented the key to claim Yomi Island as theirs for five year. Though many warriors have tried to defeat the demoniacs and dark spirits of the underworld, no one has ever succeeded, not even Keyoshi, the first pure Asian blood huntress and Champion of Miriad Clan, and all of  Asia.

Some leader-allies of Miriad Clan consist of Feliz, Leader of Kabu, Hunts, Leader of Ferion, Jazpar, Leader of Shito and Jelioz, Head of Kari, traitor, from the North.

Leon, half man and half lion, Mimiko Island Spirit King, protects the land and it’s living, non- living entities. Furfly, protector of Mimiko Island is a loyal follower of Leon.

During the games Yuna falls for Keyoshi but the girl seems distant while fighting for monsters and spirits they both find themselves trapped in a cave in the island. Nobody can hear them and they need to survive in order to go back home. But Yomi is known for not letting humans live to see the outside world ever again. Will Yuna and Keyoshi get out of there or not?

Miriad                                                                 Hunt

Shi, Shi, wake up!, a little girl at about seven kept pulling Keyoshi’s long hair. Uhmm!!! Stop it, Kera, Shi whispered, trying to wake up. The girl stopped pulling her hair but almost teary eyed after Shi pulled her hair back. Shi saw Kera’s sadness so she surprised her sister and turned to face the little one without her knowledge. Shi grabbed Kera by the arm to hug her tight and tickle her. The little girl laughed until a woman’s voice called them out for breakfast.

The houses in ancient Mimiko only consist of dirt or animal manure, mixed with dried twigs and leaves to make the stone-like shelters strong and durable. Mind you, these homes can stand storms and monstrous winds for ages or decades with minimal restorations.

Shi is not afraid of anything and being chosen to represent the tribe for the “Hunt” is one of the best gifts a huntress could ever ask for.

I never asked for anything but a bow and arrow when I was just seven years old. Then at eleven, I already know how to hunt a deer, lion or bear. Monsters or no monsters, I can kill and trap anything even those scary goblins in Yomi Island, which many of our veteran hunters here fear to try trapping. Hmm!!!! I am not scared of anything but how come every time I see Yuna I get numb, speechless and breathless.

Anyway, what will this adventure bring me. After the second full moon, me and the representatives of the other hunting tribes will try our best to survive the ugliest and scariest place on earth, Yomi.

Training for the competition is tedious. My pact, including my friends, Kyoto and Shimu, help me practice my hunting skills. They also gave me advices on how to use the knife made out of a saber tiger’s tooth and a hunting bolo from a wild mammoth’s long horn.

I have been bruised, cut, bit, almost eaten and strangled by wild animals in the forest but I fought hard not to be defeated by fear, hate or despair. I remained strong, faithful and courageous. I lost my parents from the current tribal war in Keyoshi and other nations in South East Asia Minor. I have lost everything and lived alone with all the pain, heartbrokenness and pity for the misfortunes I was cursed by the Almighty. Yet, I never complained and remained faithful. Hence, there came a moment when I can no longer breathe and take the sufferings so I tried to dive into the deepest ocean to the Pacific to drown myself but a friend dolphin saved me, from being submerged to the recesses of darkness pulling me up to the surface to stay afloat. A sweet deer licked my face that woke me up while I lay on the shore. Keyoshi is a beautiful island not too large but enough to sustain the 1000 people living there including me.

I just thought to myself that when I tried to dive about 20 feet or so deep, it is not to kill myself but to practice my skill. Yomi has water caves that are covered with spirits yet I’m not sure whether the judges would add underwater competition for the Hunt, and the date of the much awaited event is getting nearer and nearer. I can’t wait to participate in this and ahhhh……
