It was a cool chilly day and the rain has just stopped. Nala was in the classroom preparing for finals. She was craming all week so she can pass the test. "sigh!" she said. "I have been studying all week for this exam..I think I should let my brain take a rest..This formula is not getting in my head because my brain cells have probably died memorizing this!!" She went out to take some air when a guy caught her attention. It was Jake..holding his phone and listening to music..Nala was mesmorized by what she had seen. "Such a pretty boy..Ohh..but Nala! Focus! The exam is important! That is what you should be focusing on!" She said to herself..She walked away when Jake noticed her.."Huh..weird girl"..

Nala was back in her room and ready to memorize the formulas all over again and again when someone called her outside. It was Molly, her best friend,

"Girl, I'm going nuts!" Molly said to her. "Is this finals really that important?? My braincells is gonna go bonkers, if I study again!"

"Ms. Agar, even though exams are just memorizing words they also give light to the path on your future."

"Mi-Miss Oliver I didn't notice you!"

"Yes, you didn't notice me because you were too busy rambling over your nonsense...Go back to your class!!"

"Yes! Miss!"

Both of them went back to their classes and went on with the day..

~•3 days later•~

It was exam day. First day is Maths, then Science, then English.

"Okay..Nala you got this..You have been preparing all week and hopefully this go smoothly!"

She took the exam with confidence..

~•1:00 p.m •~

"Nala, finally the first day of exams is over..I got a little bit anxious on some questions but I think I did alright...What about you?"

"I think I did alright..I mean I have been preparing fot this exams for 2 weeks straight so the results should be fine..I guess..My whole family is looking up to me....Ahhh!"

Nala fell down hurting her ankle..

"Ahhh..My ankle..hey you! Next time, watch where you're going..Ahhh pain!!!"

"I'm sorry let me help you.."

It was Jake that bumped into Nala

"How about I take you home..I'm really sorry about today!!"

"Uhh..Yes!" Nala said angrily

"Nala..I have to stay back at school, I think I forgot something.."

Nala talked to Molly in body language

"What are you doing??"

"Helping you on your First date..."

"Ughhh!!"

Nala and Jake were a bit awkward. Nala never rode a bike on the behind before because she was scared of falling over so she was holding onto Jake's stomach for the longest period of time.

"Aren't you tired hugging my stomach..chill..you won't fall off!"

"Well if you didn't have to bump into me then this wouldn't have happened!"

"Fine..Okay, it's my fault! How about listening to some music I have here.."

Nala put Jake's earphone into her ears.. It was Starry Night by Don McLean. She felt comfortable as that was her favorite music as well..

Jake was cycling Nala back to her home and smiled.

It was indeed a beautiful mid-afternoon meeting up a person that liked one of your music..

"What's your name by the way?" asked by Jake. "I didn't get the chance to ask for your name because you turned away".

"Nala, Nala Perez."

"Nala Perez?" Jake said with astonishment.

"You guys own the big hospital near central park?"

he asked.

"Yes, my family owns that...by the way what's your name?" she said.

"My name is Jake Hollander. i just moved from the United States. I'm so glad I moved into a school that speaks English a lot." he said.

The mid afternoon went on with Jake and Nala talking about school pressures, family matters, and their interests in science and space.

A few minutes later..

"You can stop your bike here.." Nala said

"Does your ankle still hurt? Let me help you get inside your home!" he said

"No need, if my family see me with a boy, their expectations about me will rise!'

"Then tell them you got injured,"

"I can't because then they will say "why didn't Molly helped you go home" or "why is their a BOY helping you?"".

"Ohhh..Okay.. I guess I'll see you around??" Jake said

"Yeahhh..see you.." Nala said, having a feeling of love spark.

Jake went on to stalk her facebook..It was filled of throwback pictures..

"How cute..i didn't know she is such a cute shy girl.."

On Nala's dinner table

"Nala, did you study for your exams?" her mother asked.

The Perez's dinner table is always making Nala break a sweat and be anxious. Her family's expectations are really high because her great grandma was a doctor in the war and her family planned to bring the legacy on..

"Yes mother, although I can't promise to you that I will ace the exams but my remarks can make you proud.." she said.

"Your remarks of average?" his brother said in sarcasm

His older brother is a handsome boy and his brains are quite outstanding. He has represented for the Math Olympiad in their country several times winning 1st or 2nd place. He has also been a top achiever in his class since primary one while Nala did get awards but only a few. With the Perez family making a name for itself for the country,

The Perez family's business has been on the rise so it is understandable that they want to keep a stable status and one way to do that is by putting pressure onto their children.

Nala never wanted to be a doctor. She wanted to be an astronaut and explore the space's limits. She want to be the first person to go to Mars and explore life possibilities.

"Nala, you do know that we are doing this for your own good, right?" his father said. His father is the only one that understands his daughter's wants, because he experienced it too. He never wanted to be a dentist but a chef but with family pressures and his current situations back then, which was very unstable, being a dentist was in demand and therefore he had to do it.

"Mom, dad, can I go back to my room I want to go study, I feel full.." Nala said feeling sad.

She went to her room, brushed her teeth and went to her study table she checked her phone and got a notification...

She got a notification....from Jake..Jake DMed here with memes to break a little laughter..

"hahaha..funny Jake!' she sent to him..

"Hey Nala..I checked your profile in facebook..It was filled with your throwback pictures and tagged pictures of your parents with you and your brother's awards" Jake said to Nala.

"Parents shouldn't post those kind of content in the internet..The people will expect something unrealistic for the kids and then the kids will make it their goal to fulfill it..how sad : (" Jake said sending a sad face.

"Yeah..well so what if my life sad? My life has always been a CURSE since I was born. Instead of my parents' loving me and my brother equally I have always felt like they favor my brother more..it's all about competition of love in this household."

Nala said..breaking some tears..

"They have always favored him more because he is a boy..he is obidient, he has more awards than me..while me over here is stubborn, have less awards". Nala sent..

Nala poured her tears out when she realized she has opened up to Jake too much...

She tried deleting it fast, but it was too late. Jake have already read it and replied to her..

"Tomorrow meet me after school.." he said

"What are we gonna do?" she asked

"I'm going to give you the most memorable thing you'll ever remember.." he said

"Well what is it?" she asked

"You'll see"

The Next day

Nala's day was pretty normal. Her ankle got much better. She was feeling excited later and she felt like today was the best day ever.

After school,

"Nala, over her!!!" Jake shouted

The people next to Nala are girls and some of her are jealous because a cute boy called her over..

"Jake, what is it that you want to show me?" she asked getting, butterflies in her stomach and feeling over the moon because. It was her first time not sticking to the routine.

Nala has a routine that after school she goes straight home to study and study.

Nala, Jake and Molly went to the mall after school.

"Wait, what are we doing here?!?!' Nala asked

"Were here to have fun.." Jake and Molly said

"Girl, you have been on auto pilot mode studying and reading. Doing a routine soo much..do you even have time to unwind?" Molly asked

"Well, i usually don't.." Nala was talking when Jake cut him off..

"The exams are OVER! You have to unwind a bit every now and then...." Jake said

"Alright..But I have a curfew..maybe breaking the rules isn't that bad, right???'

"I mean I have been a good girl all my life and I just can't live up to their expectations anymore...''

"Plus you even said that they don't even cherish you.. sure they cherish you but they favor your brother more.." Jake said

" Get over your good girl image and unwind!" Jake said

"Alright since you said that..Might as well do it cause

YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!!!"

Nala sprinted to the mall door..

"What are you slow pokes waiting for??Let's get inside.."

she said. She doesn't give a d@mn anymore because she has been a good girl all her life and maybe becoming someone else for just a small time can be fine...right?

I mean what can possibly go wrong...
