Rise of the Shield: The Lonely Warrior’S Rebirth.
EP: 01
[Adventurer’s Guild – Evening]
Ken
I came as soon as I got your message. What’s going on?
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
(grinning) Glad you could make it, Ken.
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
We’ve got something important to discuss.
Ken
(confused) What’s going on?
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
(smirking) Yeah, something did happen.
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
We’ve decided it’s time for you to leave the party, Ken.
Ken
(shocked) Leave… the party?
Ken
Why? What did I do wrong?
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
(mocking)What didn’t you do wrong?
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
You’ve been dragging us down for too long, Ken.
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
Always acting like you’re so noble, so loyal… but the truth is, you’re weak.
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
You don’t belong in an S-rank party.
Seraphine (Ex.GF)
(coldly) Riven’s right, Ken. You’ve been holding us back.
Seraphine (Ex.GF)
We can’t afford to be seen as weak, especially now that we have a real hero joining us.
Lilith (ex-friend)
(sneering) You’re nothing but dead weight, Ken.
Lilith (ex-friend)
We’ve all been talking about it for a while now.
Lilith (ex-friend)
You should’ve seen this coming.
Elara (ex-friend)
(indifferent) It’s not personal, Ken.
Elara (ex-friend)
It’s just that… we don’t need you anymore.
[The door to the guild opens with a creak, and a tall, imposing figure steps inside. Valen (Hero)]
[He looks down at Ken with disdain, as if he’s a mere insect.]
Valen (Hero)
(smirking) So, this is the loser you’ve been carrying around?
Valen (Hero)
How pathetic. No wonder you wanted me to replace him.
Ken
(desperately) Riven, Seraphine… we’ve been through so much together.
Ken
I’ve always done my best to protect you, to support you.
Ken
How can you just throw me away like this?
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
(snarling) Protect us? Support us?
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
Don’t make me laugh, Ken. You’ve always been a liability.
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
You think your loyalty means anything when you’re too weak to back it up?
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
We need power, not pathetic ideals.
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
And Valen here… he’s the power we need.
Valen (Hero)
(darkly) I suggest you leave before things get messy.
Valen (Hero)
You’re outmatched, outclassed, and unwanted.
Valen (Hero)
If you stay, I’ll make sure you regret it.
He looks at each of his former friends, hoping for some sign of remorse, of regret but there’s nothing.
Only cold, hard eyes staring back at him, as if they don’t care whether he lives or dies.
Ken
(whispering) I never thought… it would end like this.
[Riven crosses his arms, a satisfied smirk on his face.]
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
(mockingly) Get lost, Ken.
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
And don’t even think about coming back.
Riven (S RankParty Leader)
You’re nothing to us.
Ken turns and walks out of the guild, his heart heavy with despair. The betrayal he’s just suffered
[Forest Outside the City – Late Night]
Ken wanders through the forest outside the city, his mind numb with shock. The people he had trusted, the people he had fought for, have abandoned him without a second thought. His whole world has been shattered, and he doesn’t know how to pick up the pieces.
Suddenly, a rustling in the bushes catches his attention. He turns to see a small, frail-looking creature—a demon, barely more than a child—staring at him with wide, terrified eyes. It’s clearly injured, its body covered in wounds, and it’s trembling with fear.
Ken approaches the demon slowly, his heart aching with empathy. He kneels down beside it, reaching out to help, but the demon recoils in fear.
Ken
(softly) Hey, it’s okay… I’m not going to hurt you.
The demon looks up at him, its eyes filled with a mix of fear and confusion. It’s clear that it doesn’t trust him, but it’s too weak to run away.*
Ken carefully tends to the demon’s wounds, using the healing magic he’s learned over the years. As he works, he feels a strange sense of calm washing over him—a reminder that, even in the darkest of times, there’s still some good he can do in the world.
The demon looks up at him with gratitude, its fear slowly fading. Ken smiles, feeling a spark of hope rekindling in his heart. Maybe he’s lost everything he once had, but that doesn’t mean he’s powerless. He can still make a difference, still help those in need.
And as he stands up, ready to continue on his journey, he realizes that this is just the beginning. The people who betrayed him will regret what they’ve done. He’ll grow stronger, far stronger than any of them could ever imagine. And when the time comes, he’ll make them pay.
