My name is (YN) and I’m 23 years old. I been in the survey corps over a year now and now everyday is to live for another day. At least that’s how Erwin Smith likes to say it. I don’t blame him. At the moment, I was standing firm with my fist on my chest. All cadets were here and some were no longer with us but I always felt them around me.
Erwin
I would like to announce that WE will be welcoming three special cadets! Please introduce yourself.
Farlan
Farlan Church. At your service!
Something about the short man, my eyes magnet his. His silver eyes told me many things. But it gave me a bad vibe towards it.
Erwin
They will be joining us. To death.
Erwin turned towards them seeing their reactions as it seems the tall dirty blond and the red haired female didn’t took his last sentence lightly. They were also assigned in my 102th squad as well. Well, Flagon was the leader. Seems I have to deal with them.
Everyone in the background shouted, “Yeah!” Even I said it loud and clear.
That afternoon, every cadet did a small celebration inside doors. A celebration for the three new visitors that have joined. My eyes spotted Erwin talking to someone else.
A faint smile came across Erwin’s face.
Me
I know last night you said you were going to introduce me...you know...
My eyes pointed at the three trio group that were in a corner. They look rather uncomfortable but they seems fine talking to each other.
He went right towards the group as I followed him behind. Oh, boy, here it comes!
Erwin
Hey, there. How are you all enjoying yourselves?
Farlan
Yeah, we are doing fine. Do you guys always do this with every recruit? I mean the whole celebration thing.
Erwin
Well if it’s someone join in the days we weren’t looking for, yes. The unexpected. Every year there is new recruits wanting to join us but we lose more than what we gain.
Erwin
Sorry, heh, I didn’t meant to go harsh. I guess I’m used to hearing this and I see this conversation as normal but it might be harsh to hear. So I apologize.
Me
There is a training ground so don’t worry. Plus, I can’t wait to see your skills tomorrow. I’ll be the judge of that.
Farlan
Ah, so tomorrow is our training session? Well, I’m ready.
Me
Hope you are too...Levi.
No words came from that man. He would only stare at me in this emotionless expression.
Me
Alright! Well hope to see you tomorrow early in the morning at eight am. Understood?
Me
Also, after this small celebration, I’ll guide Isabel to her dorm. We do keep males and females separated dorms. So, Erwin will be showing you two boys where y’all going to sleep.
Isabel
I’ll be separated from them?! That isn’t fair at all. I been together with them for a long time.
Me
I know I’m sorry but that’s our rules here. Also, I’m very sorry of our leader of our squad hasn’t introduced himself. He is a jerk.
Levi
I prefer if you show us the dorms now.
Erwin
Not now, Levi. We still ha-
Levi
Then I’ll be looking for it on my own.
Levi turned his back towards us going towards the exit door but-
Erwin let out a small sighed but let out a small weak chuckled.
Erwin
I’ll be showing your rooms now. Your leader should be the one doing this but apparently he doesn’t want to have a conversation with you all at the moment. Farlan...Levi, let’s go.
I watched them go, seeing the two boys leaving the scene meaning I was stuck with the red haired. My eyes slowly glanced at her seeing how sad she look.
Me
Hey, if you prefer your dorm we can head there. We’ll actually be sharing dorms so if you’re feel more com-“
Isabel
Wait, really? Well, I’m glad then!
Isabel
Actually I never had a girl moments. Or someone to relate.
Me
Well, I’m here for you for that. We can complain about girl issues.
I gave her wink and she gave it back.
Did he just came? Just now?
Turning around I gave a smile at him and stood right beside him facing Isabel.
Me
Well, this is OUR leader. Flagon.
Isabel crossed her arms and looked away.
Flagon
Ugh, if you have a problem kid then don’t come to me crawling with only half of your upper body outside those walls.
That was very disrespectful. I ended slapping his arm.
Me
Go easy on her. She comes from the underground.
Flagon
Filthy rat just like the other two.
Flagon
I’m out. Apparently you know how to handle them.
Me
I don’t even know how Erwin puts up with you. I don’t even understand how I can.
Flagon
You’re just trying to be nice to them because they are different. You’re not better, y/n.
Me
...please leave. I don’t want to have a discussion with you.
Isabel
It’s fine. I met people like that where I used to live.
Isabel
It’s alright! Cause I feel a lot better here. Now you can guide me to my dorm.
Giving a smile and I lead the way. I showed her the showers and everything as well.
Me
I’ll be in my dorm in a few hours. I got business to do. See ya, soon okay?
Isabel
If I end up falling asleep well I like to say this now, thank you and have a goodnight!
Leaving the girls dorm I went to check on Erwin. A lot of people think we are some type of couple since they always see us together but it isn’t true. We are close friends. It’s like they are saying male and females can’t be friends!
Finally when the midnight came I went back to the dorms, but before I entered the building I saw the short male leaving the building and passed by me not saying a single word. Uh?
Turning around I saw he still kept on walking. Where is he going?
Me
Uh, excuse me. Every building is close now. Mostly everyone is asleep by now.
Slowly Levi turned around slightly, his pierced eyes locked on my mine. No words came out. Did he expected me to say more?
Me
You should be heading back to your dorm.
Levi
Who are you to tell me what I should do? You’re not the leader. You’re like me.
Me
I’m not like you. You just arrived here. People won’t trust you roaming at night. That’s all I’m going to say to you.
Levi
Let them believe. Erwin and you otherwise think differently.
Me
This might look bad on us.
Me
Yes it is. Because you and your friends can be sent to the military and probably be killed.
Levi
Not if they don’t know who they are messing with.
With that he walked away again.
I’ll definitely let Erwin know about this! He might be planning on something. And this man gives me the bad vibes.

Episode 2
I was standing outside the dorm building hesitating to go in. My eyes would glance back, seeing Levi was no longer seen. It was dark outside so I couldn’t see nothing much just a few torches in the distance.
Should I really be here? Or should I go back and talk to Erwin about Levi wandering at night? No, I should tell him. It’s the best thing to do.
So I ran straight to his office cause I know he goes to bed very late. He haves a lot work to do and he likes to finish his work properly before going to take break. Entering the Headquarters building, I stopped to see myself Erwin coming out from his office. That’s when I sprint my way there.
I got Erwin’s attention as his head turned over taking out his key ready to lock the door.
Erwin
Y/N...what are you doing back here? Did you left something in my office?
Just when I was about to tell Erwin, Levi came out from his office too with his arms crossed against his chest. A small glare was notice on his facial expression.
I was confused. Why is he in Erwin’s office?
Me
I thought. Well, I saw HIM leaving the building and I thought he was-
Erwin
Calm down. I told him earlier to visit me around this time.
Great, now I look like a totally idiot.
I saw the look of Levi face. The glare look stronger or maybe it was my imagination.
Erwin
Don’t worry, y/n. He knows he shouldn’t be roaming around this time unless like this situations happen.
Erwin glanced over to Levi seeing his eyes only stayed glued on y/n.
Erwin
Well, you should head to bed. I’m still going to have a talk.
He whispered to me loudly, making it obviously.
Erwin
Anyways, have a goodnight y/n. I’ll be seeing you tomorrow morning.
Ugh, I thought for once I was doing a good job. And what Erwin said, he is right. Levi can’t walk outside late without permission. Plus knowing Erwin he probably let people know that he’ll be talking to a cadet. Now, I’m the suspicious one.
Me
Goodnight Erwin and I’m sorry Levi for suspecting you. I’m very paranoid sometimes.
And that’s because of my past. Erwin is the only one that knows and Hanji. Now that I mention her, where could she be? Busy probably.
I walked away knowing that short midget won’t say a word. I returned back to my dorm. When I arrived, Isabel was sound asleep. So I took my time to remove every piece of my uniform off and get in my comfortable clothes and off to bed. And...I couldn’t even sleep.
I went to get breakfast and sat with my own squad. I was tired at the moment. Not enough sleep.
Around the table, Flogan was already eating along with other two cadets that were in my squad as well. We are only missing those three. Isabel was still sound asleep but by the time I got my dorm to pick up of a few things I forgot, she was gone. Maybe she went to see the boys?
Melvin
Morning there, Y/N!
Melvin
You awfully look tired.
Flagon
Probably because she talked to that damn rat girl all night.
Me
Oh, my god. No. Just stop. I just couldn’t sleep.
Melvin
Was that girl snoring loud or something?
Me
No. I just couldn’t sleep.
Maria
Well that won’t be good for the training coming up later.
I nodded as I slowly began to eat. I know I’m screw today but that’s fine. I can pull it through. Once training I’ll be more awake.
At the corner of my eyes, I looked up to glancing the three newbies getting their food. Ah, so Isabel did went to meet them. That’s sweet of her.
I waved at them when they finished gathering their food.
Flagon
Don’t call those rats over, y/n!
I smiled when they spotted me and walked their way to our table and sat down.
I was facing Farlan and Levi sat next to him as Isabel sat next to me.
Me
How is your morning guys?
Isabel
Pretty good! I slept like a baby.
Farlan
Wow, guess you didn’t miss us.
Farlan
But for me, I slept fine. The beds are pretty comfortable.
Melvin
Oh how rude of me, my names Melvin! And I love food. That’s all you need to know about me.
Maria
And I’m Maria, and I love writing and reading in my spare time.
Melvin
What about you guys?
Farlan
I basically repair, one of the skills I learned growing up.
Isabel
I love animals. They make me so happy.
We all waited for Levi but he didn’t said a word.
Melvin
What about you little man?
Flagon
We don’t care. No one cares. We all going to die anyways. At some point.
Maria
You always have to open your big mouth.
Flagon
Hm, if I wasn’t there with you, you wouldn’t be alive. You wouldn’t be eating with us right now.
Flagon
And you know what, I’m going straight to the point.
Flagon got up and looked down at three new recruits.
Flagon
At some point we are all going to die. Whether outside those walls or getting old. But likely we are outside those walls. And since you three think you know it all, all I’m going to see is your lifeless rat bodies.
Quickly I saw Levi got up making his way towards Flagon and grabbed him by his collar. He is short but holy, he isn’t afraid to fight a taller man. Maybe Erwin is right, he must be skill man.
I said making my way between them. Oh, Levi smells good. Did he put some cologne on himself? Guess someone gave that to him. But he smell manly as hell.
Me
We aren’t children anymore. So we must respect one another, like adults.
I glared at Flagon. Referring to him.
Flagon
Why are YOU defending them?
Me
Because they deserve it!
Flagon
They are filthy thieves! They stole from us. Especially that little rat! I bet he is the one who plan that!
Levi
Then... I’ll let Erwin know that thief witness drunk cadets. And you were one of them.
Me
Flagon! Are...you serious? Getting drunk again and again?!
Flagon
Ugh-you-little-sh*tty-rat.
Flagon hands grabbed me by my upper arms and tossed me aside to get to Levi but luckily he didn’t toss me aggressively. I managed to balance my both feet.
Erwin
What is this commotion?
Erwin came just right behind Flagon making every single one of us turn towards him.
Isabel
Flagon is a**hole! He tried to fight my bro.
Erwin
Is this correct, Flagon?
Flagon
I-Ugh! Erwin, how are you defending them?! Why couldn’t they have been in your squad instead? Why mine of all the squads out there?
Erwin
That’s personal business.
Erwin
Y/n, are you alright?
So Erwin notice the scene from distance then.
Flagon
Ah- sh*t, sorry y/n. I really am.
Erwin
Flagon, join breakfast with me. Bring your trait over and follow me. We have to talk. Now.
He took the last glare at Levi and picked his trait and left, following Erwin behind. Once leaving the scene....
Farlan
It’s fine but- that guy over did it a little. He is the one who started after all.
Farlan
I just want to enjoy my breakfast but I guess we already have haters....
Isabel
Maybe...it was best if we stayed underground.
Farlan
Don’t say that! Remember, Erwin save us. So here we are. Let’s not pay attention to those people. Right Levi?
Levi
I actually lost my appetite. Eat without me.
Levi look over at his two friends.
With that Levi turn away.
Without even thinking I said his name loud, I began to talk.
Me
I’m very sorry about Flagon. He is just a hard guy to get around but once you get to know him he won’t be as much of an jerk.
I saw how Levi stopped slowly as he turned over his shoulder to look at me.
Me
And...and, don’t let his words bring you down! I know you’re a lot smarter and tougher than him.
Me
And I’ll be seeing you at the training grounds later!
No emotion show or maybe cause his brain was still in the process over the dramatic scene that happened.
Eventually he turned his head around and walked ahead. Leaving the scene too.
I look down at the rest of the group which all eyes were on me.
Me
I just want everyone to be comfortable here but they are jerks here. Farlan...Take care of Isabel. They are some guys that- are looking for trouble.
Farlan
Oh. Well, don’t worry, I keep Isabel safe. Count on me.
Isabel
I can defend myself!
Farlan
Haha, I’m playing. I know you’re strong.
Farlan
But you need me. Your sidekick.
I watched the two go back and forward, I will only smile like an idiot the whole time. And I sat down and ate my breakfast. Knowing later I’ll be outside training.
Maria
By the way, I think Levi is hot.
Did I just heard that conversation right? Looking up at them I saw the disappointment on Melvin. I know he secretly likes Maria and it’s so obvious! Maria always mentions every ‘hot’ guy she sees.
Why can’t Melvin say something?
Melvin
Yeah, I think he is hot too..
Great. Now she thinks you’re into him now.
Melvin
I mean! He is an attractive m-male! But I don’t like- ugh, I’m going to the restroom.
I tried so hard not too laugh hard. Ah, I love my squad.
Maria
Oh- and you’re cute.
Pointing at Farlan as she had a flirty look on her face.
I saw how Farlan turned red.
Farlan
Haha...ha, I guess. T-Thanks!
Isabel
Hey, the both are mine!

I don’t know about the Maria character. I just searched for side characters randomly. Just letting you guys know.
Episode 3
The afternoon arrived, I was behind a fence of a big field. Right in front of me were three horses. They were special for the three new recruits. They need to know how to ride one.
At the moment, I only had Isabel, Farlan, Maria, and Melvin with me.
Me
Horses are delicate animals. You must need to know how to take care of them. How to calm them down. Especially when we are outside those walls!
Me
You’ll need to know how to stop them, how to control them.
Isabel
Sounds like a lot fun!
Me
Sounds fun? Alright Isabel, you’ll be the first one. Come right in.
Isabel entered inside the fence, jogging her way here.
Me
Here, get to know your horse cause this will be your horse from now on. If you end losing him or dies outside the walls, it will be your responsibility.
Isabel
Really?! I don’t want my horse to die. Don’t worry I’ll take care good of you.
I smiled at her. She will definitely be the first one to handle her horse.
I tried to help Isabel and get on top of the horse but it seems she was having a hard time.
I said, holding to the ropes so the horse wouldn’t move as much.
At the corner of eyes I glanced to see Levi coming in and talked to Farlan. Seeing the two having a conversation.
Me
Can you help Isabel for me?
Maria coming inside the fence as she jog to help Isabel right away.
I stopped my way in closer to the fence, shouting.
Me
Melvin, you’ll be teaching Farlan.
I looked over at the two young boys and they turn eyes on me. Then I read the lips of Farlan, it seems like he said, ‘We’ll’ discuss this later.’
I watched Farlan passed by me with a smile and went right away with Melvin.
My eyes slowly turned to the only one left.
Me
Hey- horse time. Do you know how to ride one?
Me
Alright, I’ll be teaching you. Follow me.
We stopped by the last horse.
Me
Here, give me your hand. He won’t bite.
Levi
Why are you treating me like a child?
Me
I- just want to make you feel comfortable. I don’t know, I just guess I wanted to see you bound with the horse.
Levi
I assume you treat everyone like a child.
Me
...well....are you ready to ride the horse or not? Let me help you.
Levi
Don’t tell me what to do either.
Levi
You’re not the leader. You’re just another cadet.
Me
Ouch. I just want to help. That’s all.
Levi
Then you’re teaching the wrong way. Train the kids. That suits you better.
Oh, my gosh. I let it go and sighed. Stay calm.
Me
Fine. Get on your horse then. I will like to see you handle that horse.
I saw him how he bound with the horse. Making the horse see him and get comfortable with him before getting on. Within a few minutes, he was on top and let himself ride. By doing baby steps.
Well, he seems to know things. He must read books or something.
Me

Hanji
I only caaaame to see this ‘Levi’ guy. Erwin tells me all about him.
Erwin
Well, you do keep asking about him. So-?
Hanji
Fine, you got me! But because I’m curious. So, y/n, where is him? Hmmmm. Wait, I think I found him. Is it the one riding the horse with no problem?
Turning to see Levi helping Isabel but that’s when I made my way there.
Me
Levi. Hey...she can handle herself.
I dragged him away from her.

That’s Maria’s job? You need to know they can handle it. No need to babysit them all the time. Let them grow.
Levi
You don’t know them. They NEED me.
Levi
Without me, they’ll struggle. I know that.
Me
What if you get separate from them? They will die, Levi. Listen to me, let them train and learn their mistake. I learned that the hard way.
Levi
That mistake won’t happen with me. I know what I’m saying and doing.
Levi pulled his arm away from my hand, not realizing I was holding on his arm.
Me
Fine. Then I don’t want to see you crying when you find them dead.
I saw the look at his face of a small glare and that’s when I walked away from him.
Maybe he isn’t as smart as I thought.
Arriving back with Hanji and Erwin.
Hanji
Okay, don’t lie to me because I know that face and tone and from what I saw...are you two not getting along?
Erwin
Y/N, don’t interfere his life. Clearly he knows what he doing yet he doesn’t. He is young after all. By the time he realizes it’s going to be late for him. But- that’s his choice. A choice he will regret.
Erwin
But we could also be wrong. Who knows. Right now, we should focus on their training before our next expedition.
Turning over to look at them seeing how Isabel and Farlan smiled and laughed. I will train them harder even if Levi is going to be in the way.
After the horse training we went to move on with the gear and this time gas and blades.
Me
You hold on to them like this.
I explained the way to hold the blade as well which buttons to press, for the hooks to hook on tress, and buildings. And also how much you should use your gas tank. Lastly, how to kill a titans by cutting the back of the neck .
Me
Here is a small book. It shows you all about type of titans and which flares to use to warn your other peers. Read that tonight. You need to know this information.
Me
I’ll give them to you after training.
Flagon
I’m sorry I’m late!
Flagon
Oh- we are on the last part? Awesome. I assume she told you everything? Good. Now let’s get this started.
Flagon walked out as Melvin set up for the titan trap; which was a big titan shape board that was 20 feet tall or maybe even a little more higher. Maria set up for branches to be in the way to see all their kick reflections.
Flagon will be the judge of what they’ll be doing.
Farlan
You can do it Levi!
We all watched him get ready and there he took off in the air as I watched him go.
Flagon was in the mid way just to see him coming in closer. That’s when he let Melvin know to pull out the titan board. He did it so close so Levi could fail at it but he saw how he had a quick reaction.
He swung around the titan and took the blades out. Though the way he hold them isn’t the right way we all do it.
Levi hit the back of it and continued on.
Hanji and Erwin were watching from the distance.
Flagon
Ugh! That’s NOT the way we hold our blades!
Me
Alright, Farlan, your turn.
Farlan
I’m ready. Wish me luck Izzy!
I watched Farlan go after and It was same thing with Levi but this time Farlan messed up with a hook and didn’t aim it correctly. He ended hanging from one hook on a tree.
Melvin had to help him out.
Me
You did your best Farlan!
Winking at me as she went off after.
That girl haves a lot of energy!
Again same thing as the boys but Flagon did something else. He told Melvin to set the trap just when she was right around the corner. Making it a little harder for her, which meant quick reflexes need to show up but instead she end hitting against the side of the giant board causing her to panic; she flipped in the air multiple times until she hit the ground with force and speed; landing on her legs. Not also that, she was high in the air. Eventually we heard a loud scream.
I knew something went wrong and I ran. I didn’t had the gear on with me.
Levi heard it too as his eyes wide, thinking the worse and use the gear to go back in since he finished his side.
Farlan was already in the scene since he decided to stay there to watch Isabel.
Melvin
Oh my god, are you okay?!
Melvin rushed out towards her and checked to see if she was okay.
Isabel was laying on her side, crying in pain. Her whole body was in pain. For some reason she couldn’t even feel her legs. Did she broke them?
Farlan looked over at Isabel and asked where she felt a lot of pain and when she mentioned her legs, Farlan tried to move them but she only screamed louder, gripping on Farlan clothes. It meant her legs still connected to her body. At least that’s a good sign.
Flagon
I didn’t know it can get this bad...
Levi landed on the ground and ran towards Isabel as he slide at the end with his knees.
Farlan
She hit the the giant board and I think she couldn’t think. I don’t know but I saw her fall feet up from the ground. Maybe 15 feet or 18 feet? I don’t know.
Levi
You did it on purpose. You knew she isn’t the strongest one here and decided to go harsh on her.
Flagon
I swear I didn’t know she was going to get hit like that! Every other person would have use their hooks to stop before they hit the ground. Any smart person would have done that!
Levi threw him on the ground and bend down to pick him up by his collar.
Flagon
Stop! Stop and think what you’re doing. You can get in serious tro-
Levi then began to punch him and even kicked on his face and eventually he placed his boot inside his mouth, putting weight on his head. Hearing his struggles.
Levi
You know earlier when you said...
Levi cock his head to his left.
Levi
People die outside the walls or old. You never mention one thing. Which it’s...getting kill by other humans.
Flagon began to tear up as his eyes wide. He couldn’t even speak properly. The boot was in the way.
I stopped feet away from him and this was my first fear I felt against someone. Was he capable of killing another human?
Me
Please don’t Levi. You can get a lot more trouble. You will never see Farlan and Isabel again.
I walked in further and I watched how he stepped away from Flagon.
Me
Thank you. Farlan, take Isabel to the clinic.
I watched Farlan picking her up as she screamed seeing her holding on to Farlan as he carried her away.
Hanji
Well, this isn’t what I was expecting after my break.
Erwin eyes glared at Levi in which he was fixing his uniform, casually.
Erwin
Hanji, follow Farlan and guide him to the clinic. Please.
Melvin and Maria were also order to leave by Erwin words and that left four of us.
