Cursed System

Chapter 1

It is said that a world with evil is also filled with good. Humanity is cruel, but a creature known as the Devourer is far more cruel. Devur, the king and leader of these beings, died many years ago, seeking revenge against his brother Gifra, the bestower of Gifts.

Humans were given magical abilities known as Gifts, in order to strengthen them for the war to come. Devur hated his brother Gifra, due to his love for humans. This resulted in a clash between the two, gaining the title of The Clash for Humanity. Their battle lasted for ages, but ultimately resulted in one being victorious.

Gifraa stood on top as usual, his eyes filled with sorrow and regret as he gazed upon his brother's broken form. Devur lay dying, his body shattered and broken, yet his gaze still conveyed hatred and contempt.

"You were always so blinded by your hatred," Gifra said, his voice barely above a whisper. "You could have joined me, worked alongside me to build a better world. But instead, you chose to wage war against me, against humanity."

Devur's laughter was weak and ragged, but it still managed to convey his contempt. "You think you're building a better world?" he spat. "You're just making them stronger, preparing them for the very thing you're trying to prevent."

Gifra's expression didn't change, but his eyes seemed to cloud over with a deep sadness. "I did what I thought was right," he said. "I gave them the Gifts, hoping it would bring balance, bring peace."

Devur's gaze grew cold, his voice taking on a sinister tone. "You'll see, brother. Your Gifts will be their downfall. They'll turn on each other, and the world will burn."

With those final words, Devur's body went still, his life force fading away. Gifra stood there for a moment, looking down at his brother's lifeless form, before vanishing into the shadows, leaving the world to wonder what the future held.

The years that followed were marked by an uneasy peace, with humanity struggling to come to terms with their newfound Gifts. The memory of Devur's words lingered, casting a shadow over the world. The Devourers, once Devur's loyal followers, retreated to the shadows, biding their time, waiting for an opportunity to strike back.

The world breathed a collective sigh of relief as Devur's malevolent presence faded. The creatures that had followed him seemed to lose their purpose, their direction. They wandered, aimless and leaderless, their numbers dwindling as they either dissipated into nothingness or were hunted down by humanity.

However, the Devourers didn't entirely disappear. They waited patiently, their hatred for humanity simmering just below the surface. The world remained on high alert, knowing that the Devourers could regroup and threaten humanity once more.

As the years passed, humanity began to rebuild and heal. The Gifts, bestowed upon them by Gifra, became more prevalent, and people learned to wield their new abilities. Cities flourished, and trade and commerce resumed. Yet, the memory of Devur's brutal reign and the war that followed lingered, serving as a reminder that the Devourers could return at any moment.

The world was forever changed, and humans remained vigilant, knowing they had to be prepared to face whatever challenges lay ahead. The absence of Devur's dark influence allowed for the rise of new leaders and factions, some seeking to use their Gifts for the greater good, while others pursued power and control.

The world was a complex web of alliances and rivalries, with humanity struggling to find its place in a world where magic had become a reality. Some humans mastered their Gifts, using them to protect and serve, while others succumbed to the temptation of power and domination.

As the world navigated this new reality, the question lingered: would Devur's prophecy come to pass, or would humanity find a way to overcome their differences and forge a brighter future? Only time would tell.

The silence that followed Devur's demise was oppressive, a heavy blanket that smothered the world. But as the years went by, the weight of that silence began to lift, and the world slowly began to rebuild. The Gifts, once a source of fear and uncertainty, became a symbol of hope and possibility.

And yet, despite the progress, despite the growth, the world remained wary. The Devourers may have been defeated, but their legacy lived on, a reminder of the darkness that lurked within every heart. The world knew that it had to be vigilant, that it had to be prepared to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

For in a world where magic was real, where Gifts were a part of everyday life, anything was possible. The future.

The world of Gifted humans was a complex web of power and influence, with various organizations and factions vying for control. At the pinnacle of this hierarchy stood the Griffin Order, a powerful entity that oversaw the use of Gifts and maintained balance in the world.

Gifts were categorized into four distinct types: Vitalis, Augmenta, Materia, and Arcana. Vitalis Gifts were medical in nature, capable of healing wounds and enhancing physical well-being. Augmenta Gifts, on the other hand, amplified physical attributes such as strength, speed, and endurance.

Materia Gifts allowed individuals to manipulate matter, crafting and shaping it to their will. This could range from subtle alterations to wholesale transformations, depending on the Gifted individual's skill and capacity.

Arcana Gifts were unique in that they enabled the Gifted to forge and create, imbuing materials with their intent and energy. However, the scope and intricacy of their creations were directly tied to the individual's capacity and mastery over their Gift.

The Gifted Academy (GA) was the premier institution for Gifted humans, providing training and education for those seeking to master their abilities. The academy was divided into four schools, each specializing in a different type of Gift. Students learned to harness their powers, refine their skills, and navigate the complex world of Gifted politics.

The Griffin Order worked closely with the GA, providing resources and support to help Gifted humans develop their abilities. In return, the Griffin Order expected loyalty and cooperation from the GA and its graduates.

As the years passed, Gifted humans continued to adapt and evolve, their abilities shaping the world in profound ways. The question lingered: would Devur's prophecy come to pass, or would humanity find a way to overcome their differences and forge a brighter future?

The Gifted Academy's sprawling campus bustled with activity, students honing their skills and preparing for the challenges ahead. The Griffin Order's influence was palpable, its presence felt throughout the world of Gifted humans.

In this world, Gifted humans walked a fine line between cooperation and competition, their abilities and ambitions driving them to greatness. The path ahead was uncertain, but one thing was clear: the future would be shaped by those who mastered their Gifts and navigated the complex web of power and influence......

Boooooo!!!

Chapter 2

Sumit Gredian emerged from the cozy cafe, nodding at the owner as he said, "I'm going to take a break." The owner barely acknowledged him, too busy whipping up lattes at an inhuman speed to attend to the bustling customers. Sumit's eyes flicked to the owner's lightning-fast movements, a testament to their mastery of their Gift. With a brief smile, Sumit slipped out into the afternoon sun.

Sumit Gredian's short, dark hair was styled in a messy, spiky fashion, framing his pale skin and accentuating his dark, gloomy eyes. His eyes seemed to hold a deep intensity, as if they were constantly searching for something. He wore a somber expression, his eyes fixed on some point ahead as he walked down the street, lost in thought.

As he walked down the street, the sounds of everyday life filled the air - chatter, car horns, and the hum of machinery. But suddenly, the tranquility shattered. Distant screams pierced the air, followed by the cacophony of chaos. Sumit's head snapped towards the commotion, his eyes narrowing as he assessed the situation.

A block away, a group of Devourers had broken into a frenzied attack on civilians. Panic set in as people scrambled to flee, their desperate cries echoing through the streets. Sumit's gaze locked onto the scene, his expression filled with concern.

Without hesitation, Sumit swiftly moved to take cover behind a nearby pillar, his eyes fixed on the mayhem from a safe distance. He watched in awe as a group of specialists, Gifted individuals trained by the Griffin Order, rushed into the fray. Their movements were fluid and synchronized, their Gifts bursting into action as they clashed with the Devourers.

Sumit's eyes widened in admiration as he watched the specialists work together seamlessly, their abilities complementing each other perfectly. He felt a sense of wonder at their skill and bravery, grateful for their presence in a world filled with danger. As he observed from a safe distance, Sumit couldn't help but feel a sense of respect for these Gifted heroes who risked everything to protect others.

The specialists' battle with the Devourers was intense, with flashes of light and bursts of energy illuminating the darkening street. Sumit held his breath, mesmerized by the display of Gifted prowess. Despite being Giftless himself, he felt a sense of hope knowing that there were individuals like these specialists who dedicated their lives to keeping the world safe.

The Devourers let out a collective shriek as they were cornered by the specialists. The Gifted individuals moved with precision, their movements a testament to their rigorous training. One of the specialists, a Vitalis Gifted individual, stayed behind, providing healing for their wounded teammates. Sumit watched in awe, his eyes wide with admiration for the specialists' skill and bravery.

As he observed the scene, Sumit's senses suddenly picked up on a dark presence. He felt a shiver run down his spine, and his eyes scanned the area, searching for the source of the feeling. That's when he noticed a being walking past the Devourers, seemingly unbothered by the chaos around him.

The man was tall, with grey hair that reached his shoulders, framing his handsome face. He smiled as he approached the specialists, and Sumit strained to hear what he was saying. However, the distance was too great, and he couldn't make out the words.

Curiosity getting the better of him, Sumit decided to creep closer, taking cover behind a nearby pillar. He peered around the corner, his eyes fixed on the mysterious man. Suddenly, the man's gaze snapped towards Sumit, and he smiled. Sumit's heart skipped a beat as their eyes met, and he felt a chill run down his spine.

Without warning, the man pushed the specialist with immense force, sending them flying across the street. The Devourers, who had been cowering in fear, suddenly gained newfound courage and hurried after the man, heading straight for Sumit. The specialists, realizing what was happening, gave chase, but they were too far behind.

As the Devourers closed in, Sumit's instincts kicked in, and he prepared to defend himself. However, before they could reach him, the environment around him seemed to grow darker, as if the very air itself was thickening with malevolent energy. The atmosphere became oppressive, and Sumit felt like he was suffocating under the weight of the darkness.

Just as all hope seemed lost, a faint crack appeared in the air, slowly widening like a fissure in a dark gem. The crack glowed with a soft, ethereal light, illuminating the surrounding area. As the crack grew larger, a low murmur began to emanate from it, like the gentle hum of a distant engine.

"Brother, are you near?" the murmur seemed to say, the words barely audible but sending a shiver down Sumit's spine. The Devourers, who had been closing in on him, suddenly hesitated, their eyes fixed on the crack with a mixture of fear and reverence. The mysterious man, too, seemed to pause, his gaze locked onto the crack with an unreadable expression. Sumit's eyes were fixed on the crack, his mind racing with questions about what was happening and what lay beyond the threshold.
