INEXORABLE INFLUENCE

episode 1: Blakes curiosity

Five long years had passed since Blake had been working on the gardens of the luxurious mansion, yet he had never once even caught a glimpse of its mysterious owner.

The only information he had about the owner of the mansion came from the gossip of her maid, who would occasionally mention "the madam" in hushed whispers. Yet, despite his curiosity, Blake had resigned himself to the idea that he might never get to meet the enigmatic woman of the household.

Blake knew he had it good. The pay from working in the garden was more than generous and his fellow gardeners were friendly enough.

However, despite his morning shifts, which should have provided a prime opportunity to see the owner of the mansion in full view, he had never once seen so much as her face. All he ever saw was her back and a small portion of her head, as she sat in her usual spot on the balcony sipping her morning coffee. Even as she goes to work, her maids would keep being in the way of her figure.

Inside the boundaries of the luxurious mansion, gossip about the owner had already spread among the surrounding neighbourhoods. People whispered about her alleged mental instability, claiming that she had lost her mind due to the loss of her family to a deadly virus seven years ago.

At just 15 years old, she had been left as the sole survivor and had to take on the daunting task of managing the entire mansion and the family's gold mining business singlehandedly. Every night, she would stand on the same balcony, singing a haunting lullaby and dancing in a seeming ritualistic manner, as if calling out to her lost loved ones.

One thing was clear, she was harmless. Throughout the years, not once was there a whisper of her mistreating her maids. Despite being labeled as 'crazy', her kind heart shone through in how she cared for the people around her.

It all started on a warm summer afternoon, when a gardener named Blake was diligently tending to the lush, well-manicured garden of a grand mansion. As he tended to the flowers, his attention was suddenly drawn to the balcony where he caught a glimpse of a figure, an elegant and refined young woman sitting at the edge of the balcony with a glass of wine on her left hand and a cigarette on the other, her gaze fixed on the world beyond. Despite the distance and the limited view, he was captivated.

"Is that her? The.. Owner of the this mansion I mean." Blake asked one of the elders who's been working as the Whites families gardener for decades

The old gardener, surprised by Blake's sudden interest, asked, "You mean the young Miss of the Whites?"

He chuckled softly before continuing,

"Yep, that's her alright. She's a sight for sore eyes, ain't she?"

"Yup, the young Miss of the Whites family. And not just any family..." the old gardener let out a chuckle, his eyes wandering into the grand garden "The family who owns this whole damn place".

"The Whites, eh?" asked Blake. "But why don't I see her often?"

The old gardener leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a soft whisper "Well, that's 'cause she's a bit... Different."

Blake raised a brow, curiosity piqued. "Different? How so?"

The gardener took a deep breath, scratching at his stubble, "She keeps to herself like a damn ghost. Nobody really knows what she does in there all day, but I heard.... They say she sings. Yeah, ain't that crazy?"

"Sings?" Blake asked, eyebrows raised in confusion.

The gardener nodded, his wrinkles deepening, "Yeah, she sings alright. They say she does it all alone there in the dead of night. It's like... An obsession for her. Some folks say she's lost her mind... She only ever comes out when singing that lullaby of hers."

Blake's eyes widened in disbelief, "That's a bit hard to believe, don't you think?"

The gardener laughed, "You don't have to believe me, son. Some folks also reckon that she's got a weird habit of talking to herself. They say she's crazy, lost her mind after losing her family seven years ago."

The gardener added "if you're that curious, why don't you wait around till midnight? See It for yourself."

"Just stay hidden in the bushes over there," the gardener pointed to a large bush at the corner of the garden before continuing. "You should get a good view of the balcony from there. And don't fret, she won't see ya."

Blake's gaze lingered on the balcony for a moment, contemplating the suggestion. He knew it was wrong to spy, but his curiosity was piqued. He nodded slowly, "Alright, fine. I'll stay till midnight."

At midnight

Blake stood hidden behind the large bush by the corner of the garden, his heart pounding in his chest as the clock struck twelve. A cool breeze blew as the garden fell silent, the moon casting shadows in the darkness. He waited for a few more minutes.

"I knew it, Grandpa Joe was just exaggerating" Blake scuffed shaking his head.

As he was about to take his leave, he stopped on his track as he heard the balcony door opening. He immediately went back to his hiding spot and looked up.

There she was, Olivia White, slowly walking out onto the balcony of the opulent mansion dressed in a long white bridal robe. The soft fabric gently flowed in the cool breeze, wrapping around her body as she took slow steps towards the edge of the balcony.

She stood in the moonlit balcony, her gaze fixed on the sky above. The silvery light of the moon illuminated her delicate face, casting shadows over her delicate features. She raised her hand towards the heavens, closing her eyes as she allowed the wind to slowly spin her around.

The silk-like fabric of her robe swept through the air, creating a captivating dance of light and shadow beneath the moon's glow. With her eyes still closed, she hummed a soft melody, her voice blending perfectly with the night's stillness as if she was in a trance like state. The robe continued to spin gracefully around her slender figure, creating a vision of elegance and mystique in the tranquil midnight.

Blake's breath hitched at the sight, his eyes wide with awe. From his hidden spot, he watched her slender figure moving gracefully across the moonlit balcony. The white fabric of her robe clung to her body perfectly, accentuating her slender frame in a way that was both elegant and graceful. Even from a distance, he could see her pale skin glowing as she hummed her haunting melody.

His heart was pounding, he continued to watch entranced. He watched as the wind gently played with the hem of her robe, sending soft waves of fabric across her figure. He noticed her hair flowing behind her, dancing in the breeze like a veil of silk. Every move she made was like a carefully choreographed dance, graceful and mesmerizing.

"How beautiful.." Blake mumbled as he stares at her grace

With each passing moment, Blake became more restless. He wanted a better view of her, to see her more clearly. However, in the darkness, he misjudged his distance and accidentally stepped on a rake, causing him to stumble back with a loud thud. The sound echoed through the silent night, instantly interrupting her peaceful hum.

"Crap, that hurts" he grunted rubbing the back of his head as he stumbled backwards.

Olivia, mid-spin, was abruptly jerked out of her trance as the sudden sound of a loud thud echoed through the air. Her eyes slowly open, as her gaze looked at the direction of the noise, her gaze falling upon the figure down below who had stumbled backward.

Now lying on the ground Blake froze at the realization of his interruption, he looked up, Their eyes locked, and a moment of surprise and tension shared between them.

Blake and Olivias first encounter 1.

Blake's heart raced as he caught her gaze. He quickly pushed himself off the ground, his face flushed with embarrassment. Stumbling over his words, he tried to quickly come up with an explanation for his unexpected presence in the garden. "I-I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to- I was just-"

"I was... " he paused for a few seconds, his mind trying to catch up to the current reality "I was just here for the... The garden." Blake finished, the words tumbling out awkwardly.

She didn't seem angry, but rather calm and composed. She paused for a moment, before speaking in a soft voice, "You're Blake Watts, Baron Watts' eldest son, correct?"

Blake's eyes widened in surprise, taken aback by her knowledge of his identity. He nodded slowly, his gaze fixed on her. "How.. How do you know who I am?" he asked, trying to hide the astonishment in his voice.

She smiled gently, bowing her head slightly. "Of course I know who you are," she replied, "After all you have been working here as a gardener for years now."

Her voice was soft, but there was a hint of gratitude in her tone as she continued, "I wanted to thank you for staying with us even after the crisis involving my family. It means a lot to me." Her politeness contrasted with the rumors that said she was insane.

Blake's heart skipped a beat as he stared at her, his mind struggling to comprehend the situation. He felt a jolt of excitement and fascination, as if his entire world had suddenly shifted.

The thought of her knowing his name, of her thanking him for staying with the family, it sent a thrill through his body. He stared at her, stunned by her unexpected politeness and the strange yet alluring air that surrounded her.

She tilted her head curiously, her expression revealing slight confusion. "Um.. Mr. Watts?" she asked again, her voice soft and gentle. "Is everything alright?"

In that moment, Blake's heart raced once again. The way she called him by his last name, the hint of concern in her tone, it sent a shiver down his spine. He tried to find the words to respond, but his mind was a mess. He stuttered, his voice barely above a whisper. "Y-yeah, everything is fine..."

She nodded in understanding, a slight smile appearing on her lips. "It is quite late, isn't it?" she remarked. "You should get some rest. Goodnight, Mr. Watts."

Blake's heart felt a pang as he realized he had to leave her. He didn't want to end the conversation just yet. He could only nod in agreement, a hint of reluctance in his eyes. "G-goodnight," he muttered softly, the words leaving a bittersweet taste on his tongue.

As Olivia was about to head inside, Blake suddenly spoke up, his voice filled with curiosity and perhaps a hint of excitement. "Wait!" he blurted out, surprising himself at his own boldness. "Would you like... to take a stroll around the garden?"

Olivia stopped in her tracks, considering his request. She glanced down at the garden below, where the gardeners had labored tirelessly to modify the garden. "You and your fellow gardeners have made quite a few changes to the garden,"

She remarked, her eyes flickering with curiosity. "I suppose it would be rude of me not to appreciate the efforts you've put in. I'll be with you in a moment, Mr. Watts." She smiled gently, then turned away and headed back into the mansion, leaving him eagerly awaiting her return.
