New Professor
The air in the university buzzed with the start of the 6th semester. But amidst the usual chatter, a new topic dominated the conversations, especially among the female students; the new Business Law professor.

"Did you hear? They say he's really strict," she whispered, adjusting her perfectly styled hair.

"Yeah, but also, like, super handsome," her friend gushed, fanning herself dramatically. "I heard he's tall too."
Across the bustling cafeteria, Xander Carson lounged with his best friends, Damien and Asher. A small group of girls had gravitated towards their table, eager to be in the orbit of the university's star basketball player.

Girl 1:
"So, Xander," She began, "are you excited about the new professor?"
Xander who was more interested in the sports scores on his phone, shrugged.
Xander Carson
Professor? What professor?
Damien chuckled, nudging Xander with his elbow.

The new Business Law guy. Apparently, he's the talk of the town.

Girl 3:
"Yeah," she chimed in, "they say he's strict and gorgeous. A total package."
Xander finally looked up, a flicker of mild curiosity in his eyes.

Oh, really? What's his name?

Girl 2:
"Sinclair," the blonde replied dreamily. "Professor Theodore Sinclair."
Xander's attention drifted back to his phone.
Xander Carson
Sinclair, huh? Sounds boring. Anyway, did you guys see Johnson's three-pointer last night?
*A while later - Lecture hall *
The lecture hall was mostly full as Theodore Sinclair stood at the podium, his gaze sweeping across the students. He exuded an air of quiet authority, his voice clear and measured as he began to outline the course syllabus.

Just then, the door at the back of the hall creaked open loudly, interrupting him mid-sentence. All heads turned as Xander Carson sauntered in, Asher trailing behind him, and a blonde girl walking closely beside Xander, occasionally bumping his arm.
Xander, still seemingly unfazed by the hushed atmosphere, scanned the room for empty seats.
The blonde girl giggled, her hand reaching out to touch Xander's arm, but he subtly shifted, avoiding the contact as he continued to look for a seat.

Girl 2:
"We're so late, Xander! You were taking forever looking for your lucky jersey."
Xander just shrugged, a charmingly oblivious smile on his face.
Xander Carson
Hey, gotta have my lucky charms, right?
Theodore's eyes narrowed slightly as he watched the small commotion. He cleared his throat, his voice gaining a sharper edge.
Theodore Sinclair
"Mr...?"
Xander finally made eye contact with the professor, a flicker of surprise in his golden-brown eyes. He hadn't expected the new professor to be quite so... striking. He felt a strange, unfamiliar pull, something beyond mere visual appreciation.

Mr. Carson, class has already begun. In the future, I expect punctuality. Find a seat, and please try to be less disruptive.
Theodore said, his tone firm but controlled tone.

Girl 2:
"Oops! Sorry, Professor Sinclair." She said in a high-pitched voice.
Xander, however, was still slightly taken aback by the professor's directness and the unexpected intensity of his gaze. He found an empty spot towards the back, the blonde girl settling in beside him, leaning close but not quite touching.
Asher took the seat next to them, a subtle smirk playing on his lips as he observed Xander's uncharacteristic pause.
As Theodore resumed his lecture, Xander found his attention divided. He tried to focus on the syllabus, but his eyes kept flicking back to the professor. There was something about the way Theodore carried himself, the intelligence that shone in his eyes, and even the slight furrow in his brow as he spoke that held his attention.

She leaned closer, whispering in his ear, "He is kind of hot, right?"
Xander barely registered her words.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, I guess,"

He mumbled, his gaze still fixed on Theodore. The word "hot" felt too superficial for the unexpected stirring he felt. It was more like... intrigue.
As the lecture continued, Theodore occasionally glanced towards the back, his expression remaining impassive. He had a class to teach, and he wouldn't let a late and seemingly nonchalant student derail his first impression.
But something about Xander's brief eye contact had registered, a flicker of something that he couldn't quite place. He just chalked it up to the usual arrogance of entitled students at this university.

Carson's family is the wealthiest in the country. They are a conglomerate family. And Theodore belongs to a middle class family. He just started as a professor 2 years ago and now is transferred to Royal Elite University.

Xander raised an eyebrow at Asher, who just shrugged with an amused expression before leaving.
Brittany huffed, fiddling with the strap of her bag.
Theodore continued to organize his notes at the podium. The silence in the room stretched, thick with anticipation.
Finally, he looked up at Xander and Brittany, his gaze direct.

During the lecture, I noticed both of you were engaged in conversation. This is a university classroom, not a social gathering. My expectation is that when I am speaking, you are listening and taking notes.

Rolling her eyes subtly "It was just a little whisper, Professor."
Theodore Sinclair
Regardless. This is the first and last time I will tolerate such behaviour in my class. If it happens again, you will find the door locked for the subsequent lectures. Is that understood?

Xander Carson
Understood, Professor Sinclair.
Theodore nodded curtly, then turned to gather the rest of his belongings. He walked towards the door, his briefcase in hand.

(to himself, almost a whisper)
Finally, some peace.
Xander watched him go, a sudden impulse taking over. He quickly gestured for Brittany to leave.
Brittany, slightly annoyed but used to Xander's fleeting attention, just nodded and headed out.
Xander took a few quick strides and called out just as Theodore was reaching for his office door down the hall.
Xander Carson
Professor Sinclair! Wait!
Theodore stopped, turning around slowly, a hint of weariness on his face.
Theodore Sinclair
Yes, Mr. Carson?
Xander jogged up to him, a seemingly contrite expression on his face.
Xander Carson
I just wanted to apologize again for disrupting your class. It won't happen again. Seriously.
Half of that was genuine remorse for being disrespectful in class, that too because Brittany kept talking to him; the other half was a convenient excuse to have a one-on-one with the intriguing professor.
Theodore studied him for a moment, his gaze sharp and assessing.

See that it doesn't, Mr. Carson.
Theodore Sinclair
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have work to do.
He turned to open his office door. Xander, however, wasn't quite ready to let the interaction end.

I... uh... I was just wondering... about the syllabus? You went through it pretty quickly, and I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything important.

Theodore hesitated, his hand still on the doorknob. He looked at Xander, a hint of suspicion in his eyes.

The syllabus is available on the university's online portal. Everything you need is there.
Xander Carson
Right, right. Of course. I just... sometimes the online stuff can be a bit confusing, you know?

Theodore considered him for another moment, a sigh escaping his lips. He was a busy man, but there was something about the earnest (albeit possibly feigned) look on Xander's face that made him pause.

Alright, Mr. Carson. Give me your student ID. I'll add you to my contact list. If you have a brief question about the syllabus later, you can text me.

Xander's face lit up, a genuine smile finally breaking through. This was even better than he'd hoped for.
Xander Carson
Really? Thank you, Professor!
He quickly pulled out his student ID.
Theodore took it, scanned the information, and typed something into his phone. A moment later, Xander's phone buzzed with a new contact: Professor Sinclair.
Theodore Sinclair
There you are. Now, if that's all...
Xander Carson
That's it, Professor. Thank you again. I promise, no more disruptions.

Theodore finally opened his office door and stepped inside, leaving Xander standing in the hallway, a triumphant grin spreading across his face as he stared at the new contact on his phone.
