The beginning:
In the small village of Yongin, nestled in the rolling hills of 19th-century Korea, Min-soo lived a simple life. The 19-year-old was known for his kind heart and striking features. However, the village was plagued by the cruel village minister, who delighted in torturing the villagers.
One day, while searching for wood in the nearby forest, Min-soo stumbled upon an ancient tree bound by a red thread. As he approached, he felt an unusual energy emanating from the tree. Without thinking, Min-soo touched the thread, and suddenly, an ancient earth spirit named Jin-ha was freed.
Jin-ha, over 1,000 years old, appeared as a handsome young man with long hair, dressed in traditional Korean attire. His piercing eyes sparkled with gratitude as he bowed to Min-soo.
"Thank you, young one," Jin-ha said, his voice low and soothing. "I have been bound for centuries. You have freed me."
Min-soo was both startled and fascinated by Jin-ha's sudden appearance. As they stood there, the forest surroundings seemed to come alive, and the air was filled with an otherworldly energy.
As Jin-ha's gazed at Min-soo, he couldn't help but notice the young man's endearing features. Min-soo's wide eyes and soft skin reminded Jin-ha of a cute rabbit, and he found himself drawn to the young man's innocence.
Meanwhile, Min-soo couldn't help but feel intimidated by Jin-ha's towering presence. Jin-ha's tall stature, handsome face, and piercing eyes made Min-soo's heart skip a beat. Despite feeling a bit scared, Min-soo was also captivated by Jin-ha's striking appearance.
The air was filled with an unspoken tension as the two locked eyes, each trying to process their thoughts and emotions. Jin-ha's gaze lingered on Min-soo's face, while Min-soo's eyes darted around, trying to avoid Jin-ha's intense stare.
Jin-ha's eyes sparkled as he began to tell Min-soo about his true nature. "I am an ancient earth spirit, bound to this tree for centuries. I possess powers beyond your imagination, and I can grant your deepest desires."
Min-soo's eyes widened in awe, but he couldn't shake off the feeling of fear. He had heard stories of spirits and their powers, but he never thought he'd encounter one himself.
Jin-ha noticed Min-soo's apprehension and took a step closer, his voice gentle. "Don't be afraid, Min-soo. I mean no harm. Tell me, what is it that you desire most in this world?"
Min-soo hesitated for a moment before sharing his story. "I live in a village plagued by a cruel minister. He tortures and oppresses our people, and I wish for him to be brought to justice."
Jin-ha's expression turned solemn, and he nodded. "I can help you with that. But first, let's get to know each other better. Tell me more about yourself and your life in the village."
To be continued..
Min-soo shared his story, and Jin-ha listened intently, his eyes filled with compassion and understanding. As they spoke, Min-soo felt a sense of comfort and trust wash over him, and he began to open up to Jin-ha.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Jin-ha raised his hand, and tiny fireflies danced around him, illuminating the path ahead. Min-soo's eyes widened in wonder, and he reached out a hand, mesmerized by the sparkling lights.
Jin-ha smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "These fireflies will light our way to your village."
As they walked, Min-soo couldn't help but steal glances at Jin-ha, who seemed to glow with an otherworldly aura. Their eyes met, and Min-soo felt a flutter in his chest. He quickly looked away, his cheeks warming with a blush.
Jin-ha's gaze lingered on Min-soo's face, his eyes filled with admiration and a hint of something more. He seemed to enjoy Min-soo's company, and the young man's innocence was endearing.
The fireflies continued to dance around them, casting a magical glow over the landscape. Min-soo felt as though he was walking in a dream, with Jin-ha by his side.
As they approached the village, Min-soo's thoughts turned to the cruel minister and the plan to get rid of him. Jin-ha's presence seemed to give him courage, and he felt a sense of hope he hadn't felt in a long time.
Min-soo's eyes widened in shock as the soldiers fell to the ground, unconscious. He stumbled backward, his mind racing with questions. "What...what happened?" he stuttered, his voice shaking.
Jin-ha's calm voice reassured him. "Don't worry, young one. They're just unconscious. My presence can be...overwhelming to mortals."
Min-soo's gaze darted between Jin-ha and the fallen soldiers, his face pale. "But...but how will we get past them?" he asked, still trying to process what had just happened.
Jin-ha smiled and stepped forward, his eyes gleaming with a hint of mischief. "Leave that to me."
With a wave of his hand, the gates creaked open, and the unconscious soldiers were lifted off the ground, gently placed to the side. Min-soo's eyes followed the scene, amazed by Jin-ha's powers.
As they entered the village, Min-soo felt a sense of trepidation. What would they find inside? Would they be able to confront the cruel minister?
Jin-ha's presence seemed to fill the air with an aura of power and confidence. Min-soo felt a sense of reassurance, knowing that he wasn't alone in this quest.
As I lead Jin-ha towards the cruel minister's mansion, the night seems to grow darker, the village streets emptier. I can feel Jin-ha's presence beside me, a reassuring calm amidst the tension. When we reach the mansion, the soldiers in the watchtowers alert the ones below, and they approach us with caution.
But before they can even ask us any questions, they fall to their knees, bowing in front of Jin-ha. I watch in amazement as the tower guards shoot arrows towards us, only to have them turn to ashes before they can reach us. The guards on the towers fall unconscious, and I feel a mix of awe and fear.
Jin-ha's powers are beyond anything I've ever seen. I glance at him, and his eyes meet mine, a hint of a smile on his face. "Let's go," he says, his voice low and smooth.
I nod, my heart racing with anticipation. We step into the mansion, the doors swinging open by themselves. I feel a shiver run down my spine as we enter, ready to face whatever lies ahead.
As we entered the mansion, we were met with a group of heavily armed soldiers and the cruel minister himself. His eyes narrowed as he took in our determined expressions.
"So, Min-soo, what brings you to my mansion in the dead of night?" the minister sneered, his voice dripping with malice. "And who is this...this thing standing beside you?"
Jin-ha's smile grew wider as he stepped forward, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I think the young one here has something to say to you," he said, his voice low and smooth.
But instead of letting me speak, Jin-ha took me behind his back, his movements fluid and protective. "We're here to burn this mansion down," he declared, his words hanging in the air like a challenge.
The minister's face turned red with rage. "Kill them both!" he bellowed, drawing his bow and arrow.
But the soldiers didn't move. Instead, they fell to their knees, their faces pressed to the ground. The minister's eyes widened in shock as he took aim at Jin-ha.
I reacted instinctively, throwing myself in front of Jin-ha to protect him. The arrow stopped mid-air, then turned towards the minister, striking him with deadly precision.
Jin-ha's eyes met mine, a warm smile on his face. "You don't need to protect me, young one," he said, his voice gentle.
With a wave of his hand, the soldiers and the minister's family were removed from the mansion. "You asked me to spare them," Jin-ha said, his eyes questioning.
I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "Yes, thank you."
As the inferno engulfed the mansion, casting a fiery glow over the darkening landscape, Min-soo and Jin-ha walked away from the chaos. With each step, Min-soo felt an unshackling within him, as if the flames were consuming more than just the structure behind them. Tears streamed down his face, a mix of relief and sorrow etching his features.
Jin-ha, ever vigilant, noticed the emotional turmoil etched on Min-soo's face. He reached out, gently grasping Min-soo's shoulders, and turned him around. Their eyes met, the flickering light of the burning mansion dancing between them.
"Young one, this is not the time for tears," Jin-ha said softly, his voice a gentle reprimand. Yet, his eyes betrayed a deep understanding, a knowing that Min-soo's tears were not just for the loss of a place, but perhaps for the loss of a part of himself.
Without another word, Jin-ha pulled Min-soo into a warm embrace. Min-soo's initial resistance melted away as he felt the solidity of Jin-ha's arms around him. It was like being enveloped in a haven, a place where the world’s turmoil couldn’t touch him. As Jin-ha held him, a sudden warmth spread through Min-soo's chest, a feeling he hadn't experienced in a long time.
In this moment, wrapped in Jin-ha's embrace, Min-soo felt seen, felt understood without words. The warmth in his chest grew, a flame of hope and comfort that contrasted sharply with the blaze consuming the mansion behind them. For the first time in what felt like an eternity, Min-soo allowed himself to lean into someone, to let someone else bear some of his weight.
As they stood there, the world around them faded into the background, leaving only the two of them, suspended in a moment of fragile beauty. The fire might have been destroying everything in its path, but for Min-soo, wrapped in Jin-ha's arms, it felt like a phoenix was stirring, ready to rise from the ashes.
