Contracted Marriage: Cold Earl's Obsession

Prologue: The Ashes of a Noble House

...They called him The Queen’s Guard Dog, but by seventeen, Earl Ciel Phantomhive had already buried his innocence in the ruins of his family estate—torched to the ground, the scent of burning silk and blood still clinging to his dreams....

__

~Earl Ciel Phantomhive~

In short: mature, guarded, ambitious, and deeply scarred—but never weak.

...

Ciel had scars that didn’t come from noble fencing matches. Branded by a cult that almost took his life, Ciel made a pact with the demon Sebastian Michaelis—a butler by appearance, death incarnate in reality. In exchange for vengeance, Sebastian would consume Ciel’s soul... when the final name on his list of enemies was crossed out.

But vengeance is never clean. Nor is obsession.

Ciel had handled many distasteful affairs. Blackmail. Espionage. Tea with pedantic lords.

But nothing could have prepared him for the Queen’s decree:

___

...“You are to marry Princess Eloise Windsor, my daughter. Immediately. National security, darling.”...

—Yes, that Eloise—headstrong, suspiciously skilled with a dagger, and with a laugh like polished daggers, Strong-willed and Resolve to never be a pawn in the political affairs of her mother. A woman who didn’t want a husband and definitely not him.

~Eloise Victoria Windsor~

✿ Eloise is a fierce-hearted princess with a silver tongue, a hidden ache, and a spark that draws people in—even a cold earl like Ciel.

...

Worse yet: she found out about Elizabeth Midford—his once-fiancée, now divorced and not-so-subtly still in love with him.

...Eloise’s reaction? She sent Elizabeth flowers... and a copy of "How to Lose an Earl in Ten Days."...

~Elizabeth Midford~

...

♡⑅Elizabeth is energetic, affectionate, and obsessed with all things cute. She adores Ciel and goes to great lengths to make him happy, often showering him with gifts or planning cheerful surprises. However, beneath her girlish exterior lies a strong, capable, and intelligent young woman.

...Reaction?: (hurt, Jealous, plays innocent) "I'll do whatever if it makes Ciel happy". *sob*...

___

~Sebastian Michaelis~

Sebastian, ever the graceful demon, Who merely poured more tea.

No need for details you all know him✧: elegant, deadly, clever, and always two steps ahead.

...Reaction?: “A delightful match, young master. Royal blood, sharp tongue, mild homicidal tendencies… A perfect fit.”...

................

__

And then there was Alois Trancy, Ciel’s rival, who knew far too much.

Alois is manipulative, sadistic, and emotionally unstable. He often lashes out at others, especially his servants, to maintain control or express his inner torment. Despite his cruelty, there are fleeting moments where his vulnerability peeks through—particularly in his relationship with his demon butler, Claude Faustus

~Alois Trancy~

He is obsessed with Ciel’s past, his demon, and... strangely, Eloise. Was it revenge or something darker?

...Reaction?: (Tantrum breakdown)...

...

England was shrouded in a thick, gray mist. Gas lamps flickered, casting eerie shadows on the streets of London. Ancient mansions loomed, their secrets hidden behind stone walls.

The clang of industry echoed through the fog, but tradition and propriety still reigned. The aristocracy held power, and whispers of dark magic lingered in the shadows.

Beyond the bustling streets of London, the Phantomhive Estate stood as a world unto itself. Nestled deep in the east countryside, the grand mansion loomed like a specter, shrouded in an aura of mystery and secrets.

It's imposing stone façade seemed to giving the impression that the very house was devouring the surrounding darkness. The manicured lawns and gardens, meticulously maintained by the estate's staff, appeared almost surreal in their perfection.

A dense, misty forest surrounded the estate, casting long, ominous shadows across the grounds.

England was Ruled by Queen Victoria The Monarch of Authority was said to be Strong willed and determined, Resolute, compassionate, and steadfast, she embodied British values and oversaw the expansion of the Empire.

...

But had many secrets....

Chapter One: The Engagement Announcement from Hell

The rain in London wasn’t just rain—it was judgment. Cold. Steady. Unforgiving.

Seated in a polished mahogany armchair within the Queen’s private study, Earl Ciel Phantomhive stared at the velvet envelope in his gloved hand as though it had declared war on his tea.

...

It might as well have.

Across from him sat Her Majesty Queen Victoria, face unreadable, posture regal. Flanking her was the embodiment of polite menace—Princess Eloise Windsor, her daughter and Ciel’s newly declared fiancée.

...

.

.

“This is a joke,” Ciel finally said, voice clipped, precise. “A very poor one.”

“No, Earl Phantomhive,” the Queen replied coolly. “It is a political arrangement. One I expect you to honor without your usual theatrics.”

Sebastian, standing at Ciel’s right like a statue carved from shadow, offered a thin smile. “If I may, Your Majesty, I find the union…intriguing.”

Ciel didn’t glance at him. “You would.”

Eloise tilted her head, studying him like he were a curious type of vermin. “You’re shorter than I imagined.”

“I could say the same about your temper,” he replied without missing a beat.

The Queen’s sigh echoed between them. “You will be married within the month. Officially. You will be seen attending public events together. You will be charming. And you will cooperate, Ciel.”

“And if I don’t?”

Eloise answered this time. “Then I’ll kill you.”

...

She smiled sweetly. Ciel blinked once. Twice.

“Charming,” he muttered.

Later, in the Phantomhive Townhouse...

“This is absurd,” Ciel snapped, stripping off his gloves and tossing them onto the nearest chaise.

“You’ve said that three times now,” Sebastian noted. “I do wonder if repetition might change the outcome.”

“Don’t test me.”

“As you wish, my lord.”

Ciel paced. “A fake engagement, fine. A political pawn, fine. But her? A woman who threatens murder in front of the Queen?”

“She seems...passionate.”

Ciel plopped down on his chair his hands on the desk.

...

“No She’s deranged.”

Sebastian smiled again, wicked and knowing. “Ah. So you like her.”

Ciel froze.

Then, slowly he sighed. “I want tea. Now.”

"Yes, My lord"

...

"Do you want sugar and milk?."

^^^—The Next Day – Phantomhive Manor Gates^^^

The engagement announcement had spread like wildfire. Headlines screamed:

«“ROYAL ENGAGEMENT: PHANTOMHIVE & WINDSOR!”»

^^^“Murder, Marriage, and Mystery: The Devilish Earl Tamed?”^^^

...

Elizabeth Midford arrived not long after—her boots crunching the gravel with enough force to make the footman flinch. She had a bouquet in one hand and a steel fan in the other.

...

“Congratulations,” she said, handing Ciel the flowers. “They’re funeral lilies.”

Ciel blinked. “How thoughtful.”

“your fiancée sent me a book on heartbreak.”

“She has a sense of humor.”

Elizabeth narrowed her eyes.

“So do I. Tell her I sharpened mine.”

^^^—That Evening – Eloise’s Private Suite.^^^

Ciel didn’t knock. He walked in like the place belonged to him. It technically did.

...

Eloise was reading—feet up, boots off, dagger on the nightstand.

“You’re in my room” she said without looking up.

“You’re in my house.” He plopped down next to her.

“Semantics.” she replied flipping a page.

He paused. “Why agree to this? The engagement?”

Finally, she looked up.

“My mother thinks marrying you will protect me from the same enemies who killed your parents. I think she’s wrong. But...”

“But?”

Eloise stood. “You’re interesting. And very broken. I like puzzles.”

Ciel’s jaw tightened. “I’m not a game.”

“Then stop acting like one.”

Chapter Two: Velvet Teeth and Silver Masks

The first official public event following the engagement was a masquerade gala at Buckingham Palace.

Naturally, it started with a dead man.

Well, nearly dead.

...

Ciel had barely stepped into the ballroom, his mask barely fastened, when a footman whispered into his ear.

> “There’s been an incident in the east wing. One of the Queen’s advisors.”

...

Ciel's brow twitched. “How tragic. And predictable.”

Sebastian, draped in all-black with a silver cravat that practically purred danger, followed silently as Ciel peeled away from the waltzing crowd and into the shadowed hallways.

...

They found the man—Lord Huntington, a known supporter of the Phantomhives—collapsed in the corridor. Blood leaked from his nose. His eyes, though open, were glassy and burned.

Sebastian knelt. “He’s alive… barely. But something… unnatural touched him.”

“Like the cult?” Ciel murmured, voice cold.

Sebastian’s eyes narrowed. “Similar, but not quite. This magic stinks of royal blood and betrayal.”

"I'll return to the ball for appearances. Take the body proper care of the situation and do investigate the body thoroughly" He order before walking back to the Ball.

"Yes My Lord" Sebastian smiles and bows gracefully.

^^^~Meanwhile: The Ballroom~^^^

Eloise Windsor was holding court.

In a crimson gown dipped in gold and confidence, she glided through socialites and backstabbing aristocrats with the ease of a blade through silk. Every conversation was a performance. Every smile, a weapon.

She was used to masks. She wore hers best when they came made of diamonds.

When Elizabeth Midford approached with a deliberately sharp smile, Eloise welcomed her with a curtsey so theatrical it nearly ended the monarchy.

> “Lady Midford. You look... freshly unbothered.”

> Elizabeth smiles sweetly. “Princess Windsor. I thought I’d come see if the engagement ring is as fake as the affection.”

Eloise returned a dry soft giggle with a calm facade. Elizabeth chuckles softly glaring.

...

They sipped champagne like it was poison. It was not lost on either of them that Ciel hadn’t told either the whole truth.

^^^~One Hour Later – The Garden Balcony~^^^

Ciel found Eloise standing alone under a marble arch, her mask dangling in one hand, her eyes cast to the sky.

...

“Lord Huntington’s been cursed,” he said. “Eyes burned. No witnesses.”

She didn’t react.

After a pause: “There’s a reason my mother forced this engagement.”

Ciel stepped closer. “I’m listening.”

She turned to him, her face bare. “I’ve been dreaming of the murders. Your parents. The cult. Every death since. I see them before they happen.”

Ciel’s lips parted, a thousand questions swelling behind his ribs.

“Why didn’t you say anything?”

She smiled, bitter and beautiful. “Because you wouldn’t believe me.”

He didn’t reply. Not with words.

Instead, he slowly extended a hand. For a second, just a second, she almost reached for it.

..

Then footsteps echoed behind them.

Alois Trancy entered, clapping slowly. Dressed in silver and smugness.

“Adorable. The cold earl playing warm. Touching.”

Ciel turned. “Trancy.”

Alois twirled a mask on one finger. “I see the engagement’s still a circus. I brought popcorn. And poison.”

...

“Leave,” Ciel said quietly.

“I came to dance,” Alois replied. “With your fiancée.”

Eloise raised an eyebrow. “I bite.”

Alois grinned. “So do I.”

Alois held out a hand. "Your highness" Eloise looked down at him like a roach before flashing a killer smile and took his hand walked back in the ballroom with her.

...

Ciel glaring at His retreating figure, Alois tilted his head back flashing a smug grin and stuck out his tongue. Ciel clenched his jaw balling his fist not to punch him on the nose

...

^^^~Later That Night – Phantomhive Carriage~^^^

Eloise sat across from Ciel in silence as the carriage rocked through the fogged London streets.

...

“I meant what I said,” she murmured. “About the dreams.”

“I believe you,” Ciel said softly.

She blinked. “You do?”

He met her eyes. “I’ve danced with devils. I’d be a fool to doubt a princess who bleeds prophecy.”

She exhaled. “Then you should know—there’s worse coming.”

Ciel tilted his head.

“I saw your death, Ciel. And mine. Tied together.”

Outside, thunder cracked across the sky.

Inside, Sebastian merely smiled.
