COURSED DEVOTION ( Taekook)
taehyung pov 1
Before the shrine, before the curse, before everything fell apart—
there was just us.
Two boys. A camera. And something dangerously close to love.
kim taehyung
When people ask how Jungkook and I met, I usually say something like,
kim taehyung
“Oh, college project. Paranormal studies class.”
kim taehyung
But the truth?
kim taehyung
I saw him before he ever saw me.
He was crouched under a cherry blossom tree with a beat-up Canon camera, filming a crow pecking at a soda can like it was the most fascinating thing in the world. His brows were scrunched in concentration, lips pursed, sleeves rolled up.
He looked like someone trying to capture the soul of the world—frame by frame.
I didn’t believe in ghosts until I met him.
Not the kind that haunt you in forests… but the kind that linger in your thoughts long after you’ve walked away.
We became friends over broken cameras and horror film marathons. He called it “research.” I called it an excuse to be near him.
Eventually, we started our YouTube channel Beyond Shadows—just two bored students chasing urban legends and filming reaction content. But the more time we spent together, the more real it became. The more I fell.
Not just for the mystery,
For him.
For the way he’d laugh in graveyards and talk to spirits like old friends.
For the way his fingers trembled after holding my hand for too long.
For the way he never noticed how I always walked behind him—afraid something would try to take him first.
But Jungkook never saw it.
Or maybe he did, and chose not to.
The unknown email
“Welcome to Beyond Shadows—where love meets fear, and fear never leaves alone.”
“I’m Jungkook—your fearless idiot.”
“And I’m Taehyung—his reluctant partner who regrets this already.”
We said it every episode like a joke.
But every time I stood beside him, I meant it.
I was reluctant.
Reluctant to see him hurt.
Reluctant to admit I loved him in a world where loving someone could get you cursed.
The night he got that email, I was curled up editing footage while he scrolled through our inbox. His expression changed—excitement and fear mingling in his eyes.

If you love him, don’t go. The shrine is not for devotion. It devours it.

“This is it,”
jeon jungkook
“This is the one.”
kim taehyung
“The one to get us killed?”
I said, trying to keep my voice light.
He smiled, but his grip on the mouse tightened.
jeon jungkook
“Taehyung… imagine the views.”
kim taehyung
"I didn’t care about views. I cared about you"
kim taehyung
"because I don't want the past to repeat"
I wanted to tell him that.
But instead, I packed the gear.
Flashback
It was supposed to be a test shoot.
No real ghosts. No real risk.
Just a decaying church in the middle of nowhere, whispered about in some forum Jungkook found at 2AM.
I followed him with a flashlight, stepping carefully over shattered glass and rotting pews.
Rain tapped on the broken stained-glass windows like fingers trying to get in.
Jungkook was glowing. Not just from the flashlight in his hand—but from the way he moved, energized by the thrill of something unseen. He kept whispering commentary into the mic.
jeon jungkook
“We’re in what locals call the ‘Nameless Church’—abandoned for fifty years. No priest, No records, No name. Only one rule: Don’t say your real name inside.”
kim taehyung
I rolled my eyes, said
“That’s convenient for content.”
kim taehyung
But truthfully, I liked watching him like this. Alive. Passionate. Brave.
We split up to check both wings of the church.
I was filming a rusted confessional booth when I heard it.
I froze.
It wasn’t my voice.
And it wasn’t his.
kim taehyung
Then whom could be?
I ran back to the main hall. Jungkook was standing under the altar, wide-eyed, camera still rolling.
jeon jungkook
Did you hear that?”
kim taehyung
I didn’t answer. I just walked up to him, grabbed his wrist, and said, “We’re leaving.”
jeon jungkook
But we haven’t even—
kim taehyung
No" I snapped.
kim taehyung
“Something knows your name. We’re leaving.”
That was the first time I ever raised my voice at him. And the first time he listened without arguing.
Back at the motel, Jungkook was quiet.
kim taehyung
“You okay?” I asked, handing him a towel.
jeon jungkook
He nodded, drying his hair. “You were really scared.”
kim taehyung
“I thought something was going to take you,” I admitted, too tired to lie.
He looked at me then—really looked. And said softly,
jeon jungkook
“You know I’d never leave you, right?”
That was the moment.
The moment I felt something inside me shift.
I loved him.
And I was terrified that one day, something would take him.
