_____

I lay down on my bed, finally able to sleep peacefully. I thought I was going to be trapped in that place forever, maybe I'm already in heaven, that's why it's so quiet. But what about my sibling? I couldn't leave them behind, they only have me, and I only have them. This isn't right, I need to survive.

Sabrina suddenly woke up from her sleep and discovered she was in a hospital. She touched her head, feeling the intense pain. When she looked to her side, she saw her sibling smiling at her. She burst into tears upon seeing her sibling, finally reunited.

But why wasn't her sibling moving, why was she whispering without making a sound? "W-what...happened...to me?" she stammered, tears streaming down her face as she looked at her hands. She realized her wounds from the hardships she endured were still there. Yes, she was still there, she hadn't escaped yet.

Sabrina suddenly sat up again, feeling raindrops on her face. "Are you okay, child?" an old man asked. She nodded, looking at her palms again. It was just a dream, she thought she had already escaped that place.

She really wanted to see her sibling to rescue them from their aunt, their father's new wife. They didn't know how many days they'd been there; their house had died due to hunger.

The old man beside her woke up, and she helped him stand up, noticing his frail body due to hunger. Sabrina couldn't bear seeing people like that, so she stood up silently and left. "Where are you going?" the old man asked. "I'm going to look for food," she replied without looking back.

As she was about to step away, the old man said, "I'll come with you." He stood up, "It's hard, you might get hurt." "I don't need your help, I can do it alone." She spoke emotionlessly and continued walking.

The old woman stood up and held the old man's arm to stop him. As Sabrina searched for food, she suddenly tripped and felt a sharp object pierce her palm. "Argh..." she cried out in pain. In the darkness, she couldn't see the surroundings. She burst into tears from the pain, and suddenly heard footsteps approaching.

Her eyes widened as she saw a figure in front of her; fear took over, and she covered her mouth to stifle her cries. "Sabrina." She immediately turned around, recognizing the voice. She hugged the person tightly, tears streaming down her face as her fear dissipated, knowing she was followed by the two old people.

"Are you okay, child?" the old woman asked with concern. Sabrina slowly let go of the old man and looked around, but the figure she saw earlier was gone. The old man noticed her injured hand and quickly tore a piece of cloth from his clothes to bandage it.

"Thank you...sorry if I worried you..." She was about to apologize when the old man interrupted her. "Let's just go home, something bad might happen to you again." She nodded and looked back in the direction where she saw the figure. I'll get to know you.

As they walked back, the surroundings were filled with silence. Instead, Sabrina decided to ask the old couple about themselves. "What are your names?" The old man stopped walking, and so did Sabrina and the old woman. "My name is Tommy, you can call me Tito Tommy or Tatay."

"Why do you want me to call you Tatay?" Before Mang Tommy answered, he sat down on a metal rod. "You remind me of my daughter, Lhianne. We've been separated for years, and I haven't seen her since my wife took her away from me." He spoke, staring at his wedding ring.

"They said I wasn't good enough, so it's better if my wife takes care of our daughter." "Where is your wife?" Sabrina asked emotionlessly. "My wife...has a new husband. She left me because of a misunderstanding." He looked at Sabrina, his eyes showing pain and sadness.

Sabrina sat down beside Mang Tommy. "You know, Lhianne is very lucky. I, on the other hand, haven't seen my real father in a long time. I thought that when my mother got a new partner, my life would get better, but it only got worse."

I talked to mom back then because I didn't like the behavior of her new partner. He would always come home drunk and plant anger in us. And the worst part was when mom left for her night shift at the bar.

She looked up, and immediately looked at Mang Tommy.

CHAPTER II

Sabrina was about to jump into the water when Mang Tommy grabbed her arm.

Sabrina noticed that he was quietly staring at the water and immediately looked at what he was staring at.

The surroundings were silent for a few moments before they slowly backed away, and a large crocodile suddenly appeared. The crocodile's mouth was just inches away from Sabrina's foot, but thanks to Mang Tommy's help, she dodged it.

He lit up the girl again, and they saw that she was unconscious and bleeding into the water due to the crocodile's bite. "What are we going to do now?"Sabrina asked to Mang Tommy, observing their surroundings. "We need to save her, I feel like she's still alive."

"But the water is too dangerous. What if something happens to you again." Mang Tommy said with a worried face.

"I can handle it, I have a plan." Sabrina said.

"L-lola, w-why are they t-taking so long?" Ching asked the old woman. "I don't know, child, but hopefully, they're okay. Let's pray for them." A few moments later, they heard footsteps coming from where Sabrina and Mang Tommy went. "T-there they a-are." Ching said with excitement.

"Yes, the Lord heard our prayers. Thank you, Lord," Lola said with a smile, crossing herself. "L-lola, w-why are they s-standing?" Ching asked, stuttering. The surroundings were dark, and the only flashlight they had was with Sabrina and Mang Tommy. They couldn't see the person in front of them, but there was a faint light.

A few seconds passed, and the person still didn't move until the two felt pain in their heads and suddenly fell. They didn't realize they had been hit with a hard object on the back of their heads, which made them sleep.

All their belongings and food were taken, and the people they thought were Mang Tommy and Sabrina left. The two were left unconscious and leaning on their base.

Mang Tommy jumped to the other side of the platform to distract the crocodile. Sabrina signaled him, and he nodded. Mang Tommy started pounding to get the crocodile's attention.

Just as they were about to jump out of the water, Sabrina felt pain in her palm due to her wound. She dropped the girl, and some of their belongings fell. Mang Tommy noticed the water flowing towards Sabrina, so he pounded harder to distract the crocodile, but it didn't come back.

"Be careful, Sabrina, the crocodile is coming!" Mang Tommy shouted while pounding.

Mang Tommy noticed a broken electrical wire. "I have a plan, Sabrina, I'll distract the crocodile again, and then you swim."

"Be careful, Mang Tommy. Argh," Sabrina said, trying not to feel the pain and carrying the girl. Luckily, the girl was light and not hard to lift, but the crocodile was approaching.

Mang Tommy looked for a sharp object, cut his palm, and dripped his blood into the water. The crocodile immediately smelled it and swam towards him. Mang Tommy suddenly remembered he had a lighter in his pocket and thought of what to do to kill the crocodile.

While Mang Tommy distracted the crocodile, Sabrina quickly swam towards the platform. She was just a few feet away from the platform when her foot got tangled in a rope underwater. It was pulling her down, and she quickly let go of the girl.

She was drowning and couldn't see anything, so she swam downwards and removed the rope tangled around her foot. She quickly removed it and grabbed the girl again, swimming towards the platform.

When they reached the platform, Sabrina coughed up a lot of water while bending over. After coughing, she slowly turned the girl over. What am I going to do? Ah, whatever.

She clasped her hands together and slowly pressed them against the girl's chest, pumping it repeatedly. The girl suddenly woke up and spat out water. "W-where am I."

"I saved you, are you okay?" Sabrina asked. "Thank you for your help, ate," the girl said, hugging Sabrina.

Sabrina was surprised and smiled, then suddenly remembered Mang Tommy. She immediately stood up. "Mang Tommy! Mang Tommy! Where are you?" Sabrina asked worriedly, crying and feeling scared that no one answered.

A few seconds later, the place suddenly exploded. "Mang Tommy!" Sabrina shouted loudly, tears streaming down her face. The girl stood up, and Sabrina was helped to stand. "We need to leave now, ate, there's nothing we can do."
