*walk towards the sea, he was about to dip inside the sea*

*looked at side, his eyes widen in surprise as he saw...a merman? struggling in the fishnet*

*dives into water, he reach out and to grab the net and pull it away from him, he can clearly see a merman but he's too focused on saving him to question it*

*his fingers works quickly to untangle the net, his hand going numb from the cold water, finally manages free him from the tight mesh, as he broke free he looked into his eyes, seeing a mix of relief and pain*

*Smiles* Thanks young man. *peck his cheek and quickly dives away deeper in the ocean*
Jungkook
*touches the spot instinctively, a faint blush coloring his pale cheeks, he feels a strange spreading through him forgetting the chill of the sea, with a small smile he watches the merman disappear into the depth. *

Days passes, and Jungkook finds himself drawn back to the shore's edge repeatedly, hoping for another glimpse of the merman he saved.

*sits on the edge of the shore, staring at the horizon, his stomach growling from lack of food*

I never saw him after that day, does he never comes up on the surface? *talking to himself*

Jungkook's obsession with the merman grows. He starts spending all his time at the shore, ignoring his uncle's beatings and the stares of the villagers who think he's gone mad.

one evening, utterly exhausted and hungry, jungkook sits with his back against the rock near the water's edge. His body bruised from his uncle's latest beating.

Just once... I wish I could see him again. Just one more time...
*whispers*

*As whispers his wish, a sudden movement catches his eye, He turns his head slowly, his heart pounding in his chest. There, in the shallow water, is the merman from his dreams, playing with a school of small fish.*
Jungkook
*he watches as the merman dive deeper, his tail shimmering like a rainbow.*
Jungkook
*After a while, he realized he hasn't eaten all day, and his stomach growls loudly. He touches his bruised ribs and decided to catch some fish himself before it gets dark.*
Jungkook
*Removes his shirt, preparing to wade into water to catch fish with his bare hands.*
Jungkook
*As he's about to enter, he notices a group of young men approaching. They are drunk and have cruel intentions written all over their faces. Among them is his cousin, who often takes delight in hurting him*
Cousin
Look who's here! *taunts, spitting tobacco onto the sand*
Cousin
Still moonin over that merman? He ain't real, you fool!
Author
His cousin and his friends circle around him, blocking his access to the water.
Cousin
*Shoves him (Jungkook) roughly, making him stumble* you know what we should do? *looked at his friends who are laughing* We should throw him in the water and see if the merman really exists.
Author
They grab Jungkook's arms, dragging him towards the water. Jungkook struggles against their grip, panic rising in his throat.
Jungkook
No! Stop! He's real...*he protests, his voice thick with fear and desperation*
Cousin
*Laughs with his friends maniacally, and they all push his head into shallow water*
Jungkook
*lands hard, salt water stinging his cuts*
Cousin
*After few minutes, pull his head roughly* is he there?!
Cousin
*push his head in again*
Jungkook
*his lungs burn as he's held underwater. just as he thinks he's going to pass out, he's suddenly pulled by his hairs again*
Cousin
*holds him up, laughing* well? is your precious merman going to save you now?
Cousin
*Throw him in the water again, laughs and return back to his home with his friends, leaving jungkook drowning*
Jungkook
*His vision blurs as he's forced back under the water. He tries to swim up, but his limbs are heavy and weak. Suddenly he feels a strong current pulling him down, down, down... He open his mouth to scream, but water fills his lungs instead*
Jungkook
*sinks deeper into the abyss, he's almost unconscious when he feels a strong pair of arms wrap around him, pulling him up.*
Jungkook
*He feels weightless as he's dragged through water, faster and faster, until they break the surface. He coughs and splutters, struggling to breathe*
Jungkook
*became unconscious*

*hold his (Jungkook's) unconscious body and pull him into the sandy shore of the hidden beach, far from the village, layed him down carefully.*
No more sounds of the villagers can be heard, it was pure silence.

*shake him a little* young man?

*whimpers softly, eyes fluttering open. He sees him- merman...his top half out of the water, his eyes widening slightly, he swallows hard*

Where...where am I? *tries to sit up but winces, layed back down*
Taehyung
Your at the other side of the village shore, you are hurt.
Jungkook
*looks around, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings, his eyes meet again with the merman and remember what happened.* you..you saved me. *tries to move again but grimace in pain* My ribs hurts so bad.
Taehyung
You saved me too that day, someone bet you up?
Jungkook
*nods weakly, tears welling up in his eyes as he recalls the brutal beating he received* yes *whispers, holding back his sobs. He looks at him with puppy dog eyes, seeking comfort* it hurts so much...
Taehyung
Stay strong young man *hold his hand*
Taehyung
I don't know if this will work on you, but i will apply it on you *pull out a small pouch which he tied around his waist*
Taehyung
*gently apply the ointment to his ribs* this is what I apply when I get hurt.
Jungkook
*closed his eyes*
Jungkook
*He looks at him with tear-stained cheeks, his voice barely above whisper* Yes? *his eyes filled with gratitude, the way he's taking care of him is making his heart flutter despite the pain*

Aren't you scared of me? *looked directly in his eyes*
