A Loathed Reunion
Prologue
In the middle of the crowd, she sat there, signing her books in hope that someone will recognize her work and buy a signed copy.
As she was focused on the matter in her hands, a shadow emerged on the desk and she lifted her head to greet the person approaching her.
Nadeera
"Hey, welcome. Are you here to-"
The pen fell from her hand as she realized who stood in front of her; Saleem.
Nadeera
No... it can't be. He can't be here, I know I am in Germany but no... I am dreaming...
Saleem
"Hi... It's been a while..."
Nadeera
It's been a while? Is this a joke? How can he be so chill about it when he had hurt me so much like no one ever had... I think I might kill him.
Saleem
"Can I... get my signed copy please?"
*You will sign my copy first, promise?*
*Promise*
Her mind flooded with memories of her yapping about her books to him, and him listening all the way through. Memories of him helping her brainstorm, memories of him telling her he will read her every book... Tears filled her eyes, and then hatred.
Nadeera
How dare he? Coming all the way here to keep just one promise out of many of the most important ones. Why?
Nadeera
"Why are you here?"
Her tone was harsh, filled with hurt and agony. Maybe all these years she has spent pretending she was okay were falling apart At this moment. She was on the verge of tears, and she didn't want to give him a chance to see her vulnerable again.
Saleem
"Okay... I respect that. I am going, but I will be back"
She quits her spot to go to the bathroom, once she's alone and away from any eyes, she breaks, her face her lungs her eyes, she breaks. Gasping as she tries to breathe in between her heavy sobs. Using the wall for support but soon all her energy is worn out, and she falls to the floor.
Finally, she reaches for her phone, her hands shaking while she dial's her best friend's number; Ramna.
Ramna
"HEYY girl what's up?"
Nadeera cries, clutching her chest and looking for air. She is having a panic attack, after years of overcoming them.
Ramna
"Nadeera?! What's wrong? Where are you? I am coming now. Stay in the con"
She hangs up, her head resting against the cool tiles of the bathroom, breathing heavily.
