"This is irritating. Why did I even create that painting~?" <annoyed>
His voice echoed in the small studio of his apartment. He was unable to sleep as he kept thinking about the same painting, unable to resist the temptation, he eventually gave in and came back to his studio to stare at it. The very same painting he had poured his heart and soul into, but also the only one he couldn't complete. It was frustrating!

"Why did I even write such a piece~? " <irked>
He tossed and turned the whole night, unable to sleep. He kept thinking about the piece he had written on impulse. It was just a piece made as a result of impulsive writing and yet, he couldn't get it out of his mind. He had read it countless times, and other times he had ignored its existence, but nothing had seemed to make him forget about it. He was obsessed. He loved it. He hated it. But, he couldn't forget it, ever.
Why do they hate there own creation so much~?
Was there a reason to it~?
What was the reason behind their obsession ~?

"This is irritating. Why did I even create that painting~?" <annoyed>
His voice echoed in the small studio of his apartment. Sleep failed to visit him tonight as he kept thinking about the same painting, unable to resist the temptation, he eventually gave in and came back to his studio to stare at it.
The very same painting he had poured his heart and soul into, but also the only one he couldn't complete. It was frustrating!
The more he looked at painting, the more flawed it became.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
"The painting's title should be sin" <mutters>
He muttered, knowing, he will never do so. The painting had a cozy vibe which looked almost magical.
It was mostly the mix of shades of brown, white and yellow with hints of blue, and even green(only when sunlight fell on it).
The picture was very detailed each stroke was made with extreme care.
Despite the fact that the picture was blurred one could make out his resemblance to a man in his twenties.
The man in the painting leaned onto a tree with practiced ease.
His expression was neutral. But, his eyes...they stared straight into the viewer's soul.
It was very unsettling.
In his mind, something was missing. Due this reason, the piece was still labelled as unfinished by him.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭This piece is extremely disturbing. I should finish it soon to make it bearable.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭 Although, that is what I want... Can I finish it?
His fingers trembled a little.
The thought of not being able to finish this piece was excruciating.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭 Something is missing. It definitely is!
The thought of being unable to complete the painting engulfed him again.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<looked down in sadness, brows creasing into a frown>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
"But, what is it?" <whispered to nothing>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<looks up once again at the painting as if finding answers>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<sigh>
He knew getting stressed isn't going to help. He needs to get a grip.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<looks out the window>
The sun was now up. Pretty birds were chirping while flying towards their destinations. A beautiful scenery.
A good start for a new day perhaps, as sleeping now meant wasting another day and living with another day with his unfinished painting, his beloved regret.
He then gets up with a single glance at his prized obsession and makes haste to freshen up.
After a few minutes when Kieran was done with his morning routine, he decides to go out early today.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
"A nice weather accounts for a nice walk. I'll have breakfast at a nearby café" <murmured>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<Grabs his bags from the couch and the keys from the key-holder and struts out>
Soon he reaches the café and enters. The seat with the better view of the garden, near the bookshelf, was empty today.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭To-day isn't too bad after all.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<swiftly moves towards seat as if afraid someone else might sit on it>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<keeps the bag on the table and picks a random book from the book-shelf which was within reach>
Coincidentally, it was the same book that had a way to get under his skin.
And also the very same book he loved and cherished very deeply.
Just as he was turning pages to skip the prologue a voice interrupted him.

[Waiter]- "Sir?" <called out>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
" I would love to have Pain au chocolat and Café au Lait. That would be all for now. Thank you for your service." < says nonchalantly, but was internally nervous>
For a socially awkward and introverted person like Kieran, it was a very common occurrence for him to be nervous, and often times(like this one) he was proud to speak confidently without stuttering.

[Waiter]- "Yes, sir. I will be right back with your order." <walks away>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭Why are the attendants here always in a good mood~?
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭It's a good thing though. At least some people don't feel irritated by my presence. <A gentle, reluctant smile graces his face as he buries his face in the book>
After a while the order arrived.

💭I should pay more attention to my surroundings... (;;;・_・)
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭It isn't exactly my fault. The book was too interesting to not be immersed in it! <nods to himself>

[Waiter]- <clears his throat> "Please enjoy your meal, sir." (◕ᴗ◕✿)
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭I didn't get a chance to thank him...
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭It's alright, I'll thank him later!
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
"For now let's dig in." <whispers to himself>

He subconsciously glanced towards the new clock in the café.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭A new clock? It is really simple yet, pretty.
The clock was indeed pretty. A simple dark brown frame almost like a brown-coloured canvas. Instead of numbers there were dots. The hands moved swiftly as if, running instead of ticking. Something about this was weird. Almost unsettling.
Time seemed like it passed too slowly in that clock when in fact it was not. He opened the clock app in his phone, even the seconds were matching.

💭Leave it!
After devouring his meal, he pays and walks out after collecting his things.

Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<Pulls out his phone to the check time>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭I still have time? That's pretty unusual...
There was still an hour to go for library to open.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭Let's go to the park!
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭My phone has plenty of battery to waste anyway.
He goes to the park and sits on a bench.

The pleasant weather with the cool shade of trees, the chirping of birds, without any human in sight. The perfect place for new ideas and new works of arts.

Kieran Rey <Painter>
<takes out a note-book and a pencil with his phone still on the other hand>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭Where should I start...?
Just as he was looking around his eyes fell on something that made him as shocked as a deer in headlights.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<his lips parted and widened as he stared at the sight in surprise>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭Is that a cherry-blossom tree?
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭In full-bloom? How-
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭This is absurd. A cherry-blossom tree in full-bloom, during autumn?
He unlocked the phone to click the picture of the tree only to find out that the battery had run-out.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭Are you kidding me? Even if I tell someone, no one will believe me now.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<he frowned in realisation>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭It's not like I have any friend or family left to talk to.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
"Let's sketch this instead." <whispered to no one>
He tried to draw the sketch of the remarkable tree in front of him.
It was unusual. Almost haunting. He should leave. Something unusual means something trouble and Kieran always preferred to stay out of trouble always, since the that terrible day, the day everything went downhill.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭focus...focus
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<He repeated in his mind. His hands shaking>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<moves onto the next page as the layout of the sketch, which had just been made was terrible>
This process was repeated several times. Until, he got fed up and yelled.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
"I give up" <yell and tosses his belongings into the bag> (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
"I will try again and draw you. Just you wait." <points at the tree challenging>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<he blushed and lowered his hand as he realised how embarrassingly he had just behaved >
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<takes the bag and leaves hurriedly, flustered>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭Why did I behave like that?
Something was wrong. It definitely wasn't just the tree. Then the realization struck him.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<hurriedly takes out the phone out of the pocket while walking>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<eyes widen>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
"The battery... Is now no longer dead?" <his voice cracked>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭Calm down... Calm down
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<uneven breathing>
It was weird. Too weird. First, the cherry-blossom tree and now this...?
He had had a habit of checking battery. Since, he lives alone phone might come in handy any time, due to emergencies, particularly.
If the battery was down he definitely would've asked the staff for an extra power-bank which is always available in this café.
Then, in the park the battery goes out?
After which it returns on its own?
Moreover, something even more absurd was noticed by him.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭The time...only two minutes have passed since earlier?
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭This isn't possible.
Even if the estimate was wrong. It still was impossible for only two minutes to have passed as, it takes at least 5 minutes to reach the park.
He looked towards the clocks nearby... in the shops, on the streets, even on other people's watches.
Only two minutes have passed.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<a cold drop of sweat traced his face>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
💭Even if the phone was wrong, was the café clock wrong too?
Without a second thought he sprinted towards the mobile-repair shop.
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
<was panting when he entered the shop>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
"Please, check this. It is the latest edition. It obviously wasn't brought long ago, but it is somehow glitching." <almost pleaded>
He was desperate.
He wanted to assure himself that he isn't going insane. Many unusual things had happened today.
He wanted to console himself...that everything was normal. When in fact it was not.
After checking the phone the worker spoke,
Random Character
Random Character
[Worker]- “Sir, your phone is perfectly fine. Hardware and software, both are great.”
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
“B-but it did malfunction a few minutes back! At first the battery percentage was about eighty- then it suddenly ran out of battery- After which it was again eighty. Something is definitely wrong with this!”
Random Character
Random Character
[Worker]- “I'm sorry, sir. There is no issue with the device. Maybe it was just a little glitch.”
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
“Can you check for malwares? Maybe-”
Random Character
Random Character
[Worker]- “Sir, that is included in the software too, and no such thing has been found.”
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
“Alright.”
Random Character
Random Character
[Worker]- “Is there anything else we can help you with?”
Kieran Rey <Painter>
Kieran Rey <Painter>
“No, thank you.”
As he went outside the shop taking his phone-a new mystery he wondered,
