It had all started early in the morning, not quite late enough for the sun to start shining over the horizon. It was going to be a gloomy day, as it had started to rain and the forecast stated for rain throughout the day. My dad had left earlier for work, and my mom was leaving to go with my baby brother. I was stuck at home babysitting the oldest of my younger brothers. I had made some microwavable breakfasts so my brother wouldn't complain about being hungry. I woke him up for breakfast and turned on his favorite TV show. I pulled out my phone, and the next thing you know, he is slowly walking over to me and he put my phone in his mouth, and he ate it.
Now, I have no idea why he decided to eat my phone, but he did. Usually I would be glad if he were choking, but he was choking on my phone and not food. I went down to do the heimlich and the phone popped out of his mouth. It was very weird, but that wasn't the most concerning part of it. The news had turned on and the news headline was titled "ZOMBIES-YES, ZOMBIES" I heard some of what she was trying to say, and it got very disturbing.
"...And the newfound virus, previously called Covid-19, is starting to turn the infected into zombies. Most towns have a huge rate of infection, leaving the rest of the living in panic and fear. For safety, we advise everyone else to go to the nearest fallout shelter to wait for the infection to pass. I repeat, go to the nearest fallout shelter for safety as we all wait for the infection to pass. Also, if there is and infection in your town, be sure to call 555-555-5555. Again, if there is an infection in your town, be sure to call 555-555-5555 and we will update the data to ensure the safety of everybody. Now, let's turn to Tod for the weather..."
I was so confused, thoughts racing through my head. My main thought was "since when did covid turn people in to zombies?" This was just all to exausting for me. I decided to take my brother to the nearest fallout shelter, but here's the problem. The nearest shelter was located at least 15 miles from my house. I remembered that my neighbor, Stan, had a makeshift bunker for when the end of the world comes. I then sprinted across the street, afraid that there was something following us, to Stans make-shift bunker in his basement. But when I walked outside, the town was dead silent except for the tornado sirens were blaring from the other side of the town. I had gotten an alert on my phone stating that we should get in to a bunker, make-shift or not, to stay safe from the worldwide Zombie infection.
