She followed him into the dining room, the scent of roasted meat and spiced wine filling the space. The long dining table was set beautifully, candles flickering against the dim lighting. It looked almost… peaceful. Almost like a home.

"Eat" (he said simply said soft voice, pouring wine into her glass before filling his own.)

(She stared at the plate in front of her, appetite nonexistent. But she knew better than to refuse. Lifting the fork, she took a bite, forcing herself to chew.)

Her stomach twisted, anger and helplessness clawing at her insides. He was right—she was still here. Not by choice. Never by choice.

She looked at him then, meeting his gaze without fear. Not because she wasn’t afraid—she had learned long ago that fear was useless with him.

The knock was soft, almost hesitant. Adonis wasn’t asleep

(He opened the door to find Isola standing there, her face unreadable under the dim hallway light. She said nothing. She never did. Instead, she walked past him, heading straight for his bed before sinking onto it, lying flat on her stomach.)

(let out a slow breath, closing the door behind him. She never asked for help. But she always came to him when she needed it.)
He moved to the bed, fingers brushing against the hem of her oversized t-shirt. Lifting it just enough, his hands found her lower back, his thumbs pressing into the tense muscles there. She was in pain. He knew why.
She was on her period.
The signs were always the same—the stiffness in her posture, the way she pressed her stomach against the mattress, as if grounding herself against the discomfort. She’d never complain. Never say it outright. But Adonis had learned her body better than she had. Because he had shaped it, owned it, ruined it.

His hands continued their slow, deliberate movements, pressing into her tense body, unwinding the discomfort inch by inch.

Maybe because he knew her better than anyone.
