The mobile was playing. A girl was standing and stared into the sky. The sky was bright blue with white clouds. It was a hot day while the sun danced over joyfully on everyone’s head. The girl the quietly watched the people walking on the road as if God were watching over the mortals. She was a girl of average height with a fair complexion. Her Lips were small and pink. She had small eyes with reddish brown irises and short reddish black hair that hung loose on her shoulder. She was quite beautiful if not she wore a bit boyish clothes. She wore a black long T-shirt that hung up a little above her knees. Along with it she had a shirt over it and a three-quarter jeans with simple sandals and a small side bag. It was evident she did not care about her appearance much. Her name was Maria.

She focussed totally on her phone. The mobile played..

“Now the moment you all have been waiting for.....We have with us on our talk show, the one and only, everyone please welcome Samuel.”

A big round of applause was heard. Then the girl turned her head and looked at the mobile. A boy was showed on the mobile screen in a brightly lit environment and overly blushing colours. Suddenly a smile came on their face. The girl looked happy. Eagerly she picked up the mobile in her hands and putting her face close to the screen she watched.

It was a talk show.

The Anchor: Hi, Please introduce yourself to the audience.”

A beautiful boy came out. He had a tall and stout build yet he was not muscular. He had silky reddish brown hair. He was so enchanting as if Adonis was standing right there.

“Hello I’m Samuel ”

A smile slowly spread across her face, her face brightened up. She pressed her lower lips with her teeth. She was happy. Hurriedly she put on her headphones and looked at the phone with full attention.

The talk show still went on.

Anchor: “We are lucky to have you, thank you for being with us”

Samuel: “No, No...I’ve always wanted to be here”

Anchor: “Your welcome to our show, how are you feeling? I mean You have got your new solo album out. So how’s the feeling?”

Samuel: “it’s great, amazing and I hope my fans’ll love it”

Anchor: “It’s marvellous; right now "Lost" is on the top of everyone's playlist”

Samuel: "I’m glad people liked it”

Anchor: “O ...... it’s great, I personally really like it...So we are going to ask some questions by fans”

Samuel: “yes”

Anchor: “So not wasting more time we move on to Q&A.......Yeah”

Samuel: “Yeah....Let’s do it”

Anchor: “So, the first question......Your new solo album Lost just came out, what was the inspiration for it”

Samuel: “Um...it was someone from my high school....She was a friend and she was practically good at everything......She was the one who inspired it”

Anchor: “Aaaah....so it’s like that....So are you in contact with her anymore “

Samuel: “No, we lost connection after that and I never tried”

Anchor: “Aah....That’s sad.....ok....Let’s move on to the next question....So what makes Lost so special”

Samuel: “Well it’s my first solo album after working together so long with Lucky star....and it is dedicated to a certain someone?...Someone very special to me....”

Anchor: “Oh is it that high school person”

Samuel: “yeah, actually I got the idea from her or rather you can say she gave the idea...I have tried to find her but in vain....”

Anchor: “That’s sad...I hope you find her soon”

Samuel: “Yeah”

Anchor: “Moving on to the next question”

The mobile still played the audio.

Suddenly a bang was heard. She jumped up. She turned back and sighed. Pulling out her headphones, she looked quite angry and thought “Hash!....These people irritate me so much. Aah...Sorry...Samuel. I will meet you later...Sorry....Bye.”

She put her mobile and headphones in her side bag. Staring at them she thought “I know what you’re here for, I’m not a fool anymore, come to me so that I can cut you off...for forever.”

My world

A voice came out “Hey”. Then a short girl and a boy who was just a bit taller than her were standing. She looked at them uplifting her brows as if she knew everything they were going to tell.

The small girl’s name was Anna. She had a white complexion with excessively rich red lips it was evident that she did too much of makeup. She wore tight jeans, a tight t-shirt and high pencil heels sided with a big hand bag. Her clothes were so tight that the size of her breasts and butt could be recognized. She talked almost like an Aristocrat. This made Maria’s eyes a little big forcing her to think “How can someone wear so protruding clothes”.

The boy’s name was Sam. The boy was rather shy. He wore simple jeans, t-shirt and regular sneakers. He was not at all good looking but was average. He smiled at her in intervals pressing his hands against each other.

Anna broke the silence first as she walked over to the table she was standing at.

Anna: “I hope we are not late. Actually I was at my friends place right now and she was not ready to leave me in any way. Then I told her clearly...Sorry....I got to meet my friend...so....I...got to go now. You know yet she was not ready to leave me...ah...it took me so long to get to leave her place.”

Maria: "Really...whoa....Then why bother coming here.....why not stay there....heh.”

She said twisting her upper lip half smiling.

Anna: “Sorry I would not have come if weren’t for your good....”

Half laughing and confused Maria said

Maria: “My own good....but I thought you only used me.......if I’m not wrong.”

Anna: “Ah come on...That was years ago......Do you still think I’m like that......”

Maria bent her brows giving a look saying "I don't think so." She wanted get rid of this annoyance faster.

Maria: “Why are you here...Speak faster I’m in hurry you’ve already wasted a lot of my time....Now speak up”

Anna: “Ah..come on...We are in a cafe... let’s sit down and talk....”

Maria: “Hurry up”

They took a small four person table by the window. The three ordered three different types of things. Maria ordered a simple coffee, Anna cappuccino and Sam only milk with sugar. The waiter went away. Maria stared at the busy street with a serious face. Sam stared at her and looking at her stare. Seeing no one speak Anna spoke up.

Anna: “How are you nowadays, I hope you are fine-----“

Maria still staring at the street heard her and gave out a smile. Now a sad look came on her face. Ignoring her Anna went on.

Anna: “I called you so much but you don’t answer it....Oh...where were you so long and it’s okay you don’t call me anymore but you should at least take his call....How can you break his heart like that..He was trying to find you out for so long.....

Maria: "So, It was him who found me out huh......."

She still stared at the streets.

Anna: “.....how could you do this to him....You should be grateful to me for bringing him here......."

The she looked at them with a questioning attitude for a moment. Seeing her getting angry Anna suddenly stopped. Suddenly she asked her bringing a smile to her face.

Maria: “So...what are you here for?”

Anna: “Huh....If you really want to get to the point then I’ll let him speak...”

Maria: “So your here just for this......” turning to him she smiled and said “I’m very sorry...Please just move on....I’m sick of people already....if you want to be hated by me....then I already hate you”

Sam: “Please don’t do this.....ahaaaaa”

He started to cry. Anna comforted him. Maria was shocked. She suddenly started to laugh. Anna got angry.

Anna: "What the hell is wrong with you......Why are you like this......He is so good to you......you are just selfish and greedy........he is just perfect for you.....just accept him....”

Maria: “look who’s talking...whahahaha.....”

Anna: “Just stop it... y-y-y-you.....monster.....”

This made her come to her senses. She looked at them with pity.

Maria: “I pity you. I-I-I-I’m sorry I’ve got to go now and you don’t dare to follow me next time. Or I’ll call the police. Stay away from me you disgusting swarm. Heh, So thank you. Hope I never meet you again. Bye Bye you pack of rotten eggs."

She got up and left. While she walked away. She looked at them and smiled mockingly and waved her hand.

Anna was heard from far away shouting “Monster, You are a Monster”.

Sam stared at her looking up from his act of crying and then put his head down on the table.

She came out looked back at the shop window. They still stared at her. She made a face at them and left jumping happily. As she went out of their sight, she felt that her heart was already cold. She looked up at the sky, forced a smile and left.

Maria is used to being lonely now. People only meet her for their own benefit. So she has abstained from making friends. She talks to everyone, keeps connection with the ones she need and continues on till she needs them. That is her so called friends leave once she changes her course. She helps everyone that needs it but doesn’t expect any return. She promised to herself that she would never make friends nor ever fall in love with anyone. She would live in her own world and do whatever she liked.

She had learned a lesson though the hard way. Her teacher was Anna. She had once loved and cherished her but now she hates her. Anna too had left a scar in her heart. Years ago she was her best friend. She was ready to do everything for her. But her friendship was not reciprocated. She had heard Anna beg to someone else to remain her friend while saying Maria was only her tool which she only used. This broke her heart. It took her days to recover and wear the outer pretence hiding the wound in her heart.

She became a loner from then on.

Still in love with the lost world

Maria was happy now. As she walked on she talked to herself giving out occasional proud and angry expressions.

“Huh, you think you can black mail me, Huh! You want to do that...that way is too ordinary for me, I am always being emotionally blackmailed by my mom, no one knows it better than me....You drama queen first you use me and now you want to set up him with me.......He deserves me....Huh!....how dare you....Me and that idiot......"

The sound of her last expression got out of her thoughts into the public.

Maria:"...aaaarh"

The people stared at her. She suddenly found eyes looking at her. This was rather awkward for her. She normalised her expression and hurriedly ran away.

As she walked on her phone rang. She took it out, looked and took the call. She walked on as she talked on the phone. It was her mother. She called her to order her to get to her destination hurriedly. She only said okay and cut the phone. She gave out a sigh and smiled and said “What will I do with you, Can't even say no”.

As she crossed the road she entered the station and heard the announcement. She rushed on to a train. As she stepped in the train left. She stood near the door leaning on the train wall, then put on headphones and looked outside.

As she looked outside the scenery changed slowly from the urban city life to the life of luscious greenery. She had been a fan of nature for quite a long time. She had spent the start of her life almost in the womb of nature.

When she got her senses, she was already surrounded by her maternal grandparents. At the age of three she was left with them. Their home was quite big.

A two storey building with two bedrooms, one kitchen, one dining space, one bathing area and two separate toilets on each floor. Actually, it had more than one would need for a shelter.

There was quite a small cemented place in front of the house. A cemented path took you to the garden or rather a forest canopied by big trees almost forty to fifty years old making it dark with occasional streaks of sunlight. She had roamed in the darkness for long being one with it. There was a large bush of red hibiscus almost at the centre of the garden. The plant bore large deep red flowers. It was her personal favourite.

She loved staying there. When she came out she always found her grandfather at work in the small patch of land in front of the house which was left flat to plant small flowering plants. Her grandfather was found tending the garden and her grandma in the kitchen. She went there and helped him asking him about everything that happened in the world. He had his unique way of presenting everything. Long after when she grew up, she understood the meanings of his words. A part of her personality was formed from those words.

Her grandma came with food while she and her grandfather talked. They three sat inside enjoying the food and talking. This was the world she had always been in love with. A life surrounded by nature and good people.

But now they are gone. The land’s been sold and she was afraid of the change. So, she never went there after they died. Their death left a scar in her heart and she became aloof from life for years doing whatever she liked. For their death made her understand that life is full of sadness and sorrow. Nothing is stable. No matter how hard you hold on to the thing you love, it will eventually break. In short everything will be gone one day so there’s no use in living something. Life became meaningless for her. She felt the pain in her heart. So she decided to melt herself in her environment and indulge in self enjoyment. So she can forget all her sorrows.

She looked outside enjoying the nature. After a while a seat got empty she noticed it and sat on it. In the next station an old hermit got on. He was very old yet stood stout and straight. He wore light orange clothes, a long wooden staff and carried a bag like structure made of the same clothes as he wore. The bag looked heavy and the hermit struggled to hold on to it.

After a while her eyes went to him. She saw him struggle for some time. Then she got up and went to him.

She offered him her seat saying “O Hermit, please have a seat”.

The hermit looked at her for a moment then smiled and said “No No, Thank you, but I don’t need it, I’m quite okay”.

So to persuade him she lied “O, don’t worry about me I’m getting off at the next station, please take the seat.”

This persuaded the hermit. He sat in her place and watched her from there. She smiled for the last time at him and turned her head. Then she took her previous pose and listened to music lost in her thought. The hermit watched her. The next station came yet she stood there still looking out. The train left the station. The hermit smiled and turning his gaze whispered “Kind child, may God bless you”.
