Reese. That was Desiree's nickname. But no one called her that after her Mom died. Her Mom was all she had. But why did she have to die? Her Mom trained Reese to fight since she was young. Reese knew that she was no longer safe in Arkansas and she needed to leave there as soon as possible or else she'll end up like her mom. Dead. Her Mom never told her the reason why people hated them both. Reese was beautiful, attractive, smart, pale and of course, a vampire.

Humans can feel when a vampire desires them. It makes them feel the desire in return. Her Mom's voice echoed in her head. 'That's it, Reese! Trevor will like you back!' Reese thought. But being in love with a human is dangerous. Telling him your secret is even more dangerous. No matter how you hide it from him, he'll find out eventually.

Reese was shoved by another junior passing by again causing her to fall backwards and throw all of her things. Reese sighed and tried to calm herself down. 'Why do they have to be so mean?' Reese asked herself. If you wore more revealing clothes, socialize and wear make up maybe they'll stop messing with you. A voice said inside her head. But did she have to? She was already pretty and attractive even for just wearing sweats and a hoodie. But no one ever saw her. Her face was always hidden.

"You okay?" Trevor asked. Reese nodded and hid her face. She accepted Trevor's hand and he pulled her up. Trevor gathered her things and handed them to her. "Don't just let them shove you. You should try standing up for yourself. You're making them think you're weak. And I know you probably aren't." Trevor said. Trevor was curious. He wanted to see her face, her body, hear her voice, touch her skin, and capture her lip with his. "I'm Trevor, by the way. You are?" He asked. Will she reply? What will she say? "Desiree. Reese." She said, still hunging her head low. Trevor lifted her chin making her gasp. She pulled away. "I'm sorry. Must've caught you by surprise." Trevor said. He caught a glimpse of her eyes. They were blue. But a vampire's eyes could change color. Sometimes red, sometimes gold, sometimes grey or just normal. Reese walked away from Trevor. She wasn't ready yet. She didn't want him to go any further. He just knew her name, not her story.

Trevor waited for her at the gate that day he wanted to know more about her. Something inside of him craved for her. He hasn't saw her face clearly yet but he knew she was beautiful. He was attracted to her. Reese's mother was right. Reese can get any guy she likes even without putting much effort. She just needed to let them feel that she was attracted to them and then poof! They'll mirror your feelings for them. Reese reflexively turned around when she felt a hand touch her shoulder. "Reese? Sorry for startling you. Can we talk?" Trevor asked. Reese could read his mind. She can read anyone's mind in the room. Every single mind. He was thinking about her, and the things he wanted to do with her. Reese smirked. Reese pulled her hoodie down to cover her face even more. Reese nodded. Trevor motioned for her to get inside his car. Reese hopped in and tried her best to cover her face. Trevor looked at her lips. They were red, dry. He drove his car into an abandoned park. Reese opened her door and hopped out. Trevor reached for her hand. "Desiree Adamson. I like you." Trevor said and those words were all it took for Reese to show her face to him. Trevor gasped. "Why have you been hiding your face? You're beautiful, Reese. More beautiful than any other girl." Trevor said. Reese smiled. "I don't know if I'm ready to tell you this but, I'm different from everyone else. I'm dead. And I'm not human." Reese said. Reese smiled with her teeth making Trevor see her fangs. Trevor flinched. "Y-you're a....... a vampire?" His hands trembled. Reese read his mind. It was filled with regret. Reese broke down. "You regret it, don't you? Bringing me here? Confessing your feelings? If only I was human." Reese said. "It's not that, Reese. Vampires and werewolves can't be together." Trevor said. Reese furrowed her eyebrows. "A-are you saying that...?" Trevor nodded before Reese could continue. "Neither do humans and werewolves. If you thought I was human earlier and didn't care then why'd you regret when you found out that I'm a vampire?" Reese asked. Trevor sighed. "I thought you were a Downworlder because you kept hiding your face." Trevor said. Reese nodded. "I regret the fact that I fell in love with a werewolf and made him fall back. Don't worry, I'll try my best to not like you anymore." Reese said walking away from him. She broke into tears. She felt like she just got dumped. Trevor always had this strong scent. But Reese never paid attention to it. She regrets it all. If only she knew he was a werewolf from the start. She wouldn't be this broken up if she did. Trevor spun her around and crashed his lips next to hers. Reese felt confused. "I'd break all the rules if it meant being with you." Trevor said between kisses. Reese pulled away. Trevor furrowed his eyebrows. "Hey, don't you think you're too fast? And the Council of Downworld will execute us both if they found out." Reese said. "Then don't let them find out." Trevor said leaning in to kiss her again. Reese pulled away. "If you're a werewolf, the love spell didn't work on you, so it means...?" Reese suspected. "Yes, it means that I really love you. Your spell only works on humans." Trevor said. Reese nodded, but this time it was her that kissed Trevor.

Reese was starting to get pissed. Ever since she stopped wearing hoodies, and sweats everyone started to notice. The girls envied her and the boys praised her. But she really hated the attention. She had to meet up with Trevor and tell him that she can't take it anymore. Why did she even promise Trevor that she'll change her style? She bought a coat just incase. Her skin shined when the sun kisses it and she doesn't want anyone else to know that she's vampire. Boys started teasing her and the girls still bullied her and hated her. Most of the boys' minds are full of mischief and malice. And most of the girls' are jealousy, envy, fear, anger, pride, anxiety, distress and ego.

Just then, she felt a cold liquid splash on her face. She closed her eyes and controlled herself. She knew it was Fritzy Cooper who throwed her drink at her. Reese struggled to control her anger and then she thought of what Trevor said. She opened her eyes, her contacts were blue but, they were black inside. She punched Fritzy acrossed the face making her stumble and fall to the ground with a loud thump. Now, she was meters away from her. Reese cracked her knuckles.

A girl handed her a tissue and she quickly grabbed it and wiped her face. "Thanks." She said smiling fakely. Her dentures helped her cover her fangs and it's a good thing her dentist is her uncle so that she didn't have any problem explaining and threatening the dentist. Reese walked towards Fritzy. Reese bent down to Fritzy's body and whispered, "Thanks for the drink, I was really hot all though, I would've loved it if I drank it instead." Reese said straighthening her back once again. She smirked when she read fear. She walked out of the caféteria. It was her first time standing up for herself. Now no one will ever mess with her again. Unless, some stupid kid who'd feel high and mighty and challenge her. She just raised her hand and crashed her fist at her face but, why'd she fly away? That's right, vampires are a hundred times stronger than humands. She won't even move a muscle if you hit her.

Reese decided to ditch class for the very first time. It's not like she had anyone who cared if she skipped class and it's not like the school had anyone to call. She hopped out of the bus and walked the remaining blocks to her home. She lived on a basement. She wanted to live somewhere open but, she was afraid. She had to blend in and to never tell anyone what she is. Until Trevor. She decided to rent the basement since the owner made the house a dormitory. She paid 2 grand for her payment every month and she worked part-time at a bakery.

And then she suddenly thought of Trevor. She missed the way he felt against her largest organ (skin). She missed the way his lips touched hers. She missed the way his hair felt. She missed him. And then a familiar scent filled her nostrils. "Trevor." She whispered. He was near. And then there was a knock on her door. She flicked the lights open and opened the door. She saw Trevor and a sea of girls watching him. Reese smiled and hugged him. He smelled like old spice, sweat and a little stink of werewolf.

"Hi." Trevor mumbled against the crook of her neck inhaling her scent. "Hi." Reese replied. Reese pulled him inside and locked the door behind them. They walked down and Trevor wasted no time and crashed his lips next to hers. "I missed you." Reese couldn't help but say. Trevor smilled and wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her again. "I missed you more." Trevor replied. Reese grinned and wrapped her arms around his neck. She kissed him and laughed when she remembered she was still wearing her dentures. She removed it and placed it inside a glass filled with water. She kissed him again accidentally cutting his bottom lip with her fangs. "Sorry." She said and frowned when the taste of his blood was different from human blood. Trevor kept kissing her until they were on top of her bed with Trevor hovering her. Trevor sucked on her neck and collar bone. Trevor removed his coat and tossed it away. He lifted his shirt revealing his six-pack abs. Reese grinned and trailed her hand up and down his abdomen making him shiver and moan. Reese smirked and trailed kissing on his chest, down to his abs. Trevor lifted her shirt revealing her peach-colored bra. Trevor trailed kisses down her flat stomach. He stopped and lifted her chin. "I'd break every rule, just for you, my love." Trevor said. Reese smiled. "I'd do the same my love." Reese said mocking him. Trevor pouted playfully and unclasped her bra. And I'm sure you can fill the blanks there.

'When will this class end?' Reese asked herself. She'd been sitting for thirty minutes that seemed like hours. She scratched her left arm and pretended to listen to the teacher. The teacher was bored too. 'Why'd he even bother showing up to all of his classes?' Reese thought shaking her head. "Ms. Adamson?" Their teacher called out snapping her out of her thoughts. "Y-yes sir?" She asked. "Do you disagree to my rules? You seem to be shaking your head." The teacher said. "No, no. Not at all Sir. I think that your rules are just right and it can help to discipline all of us." Reese replied. Their teacher nodded and Reese sighed. She heard muffled whispers. "She decided to speak up. She's just being nice so that she'll have good grades, that isn't what she really thinks." A voice said. 'How could you know? I'm the one who reads your minds." Reese told herself. At the end of the class, a girl decided to approach her. "Hi I'm Jem and I saw this fall out of your bag earlier and here," A girl with brunette hair handed her a fountain pen. Reese smiled. "Thanks Jem. I'm Reese." She said reaching for the pen. She tried her best not to touch Jem so that she wouldn't suspect anything. Reese's skin was cold against human body and normal against werewolves. "See you around Jem." Reese said shoving the pen inside her bag and standing up from her seat.

Jem's mind was filled with confidence, happiness, loneliness, expectations and sadness. Jem always got rejected. Reese wanted to be friends with her. A part of her did. Jem was cheerful, confident and strong on the outside but sad, lonely and weak inside. Reese pittied her.

And then a familiar vampire scent filled Reese's nostrils. "Daniel..." She gasped when she saw him. Daniel was his childhood love. But they broke off after her Mom died which is 4 years ago. They didn't really break up but Reese didn't kiss him goodbye or anything. "Surprised, my love?" He asked. "I'm sure I'm not your love anymore. I stopped being your love four years ago." Reese said. "Oh Reese. My darling, darling Reese. A little mouse told me you're having a fun time with the werewolfie." Daniel said twirling a lock of hair on her head. "I'm sorry, who?" Reese asked. Trevor's and Leigh's name appeared in Daniel's mind. "Leigh..." Reese mumbled. "Mmhm, that's right my love. I'm sure Leigh would love to say hi to you since you stole me from her." Daniel whispered. "What do you mean I stole you from her? She had four years to spend with you, and I'm not thinking of.... getting back with you." Reese said. Daniel gasped. "Yes, yes. She had four years but all I ever wanted was you." Daniel said. "I will kill that bítçh! She does nothing but tattletale every bad deed I do!" Reese shouted.

"Hello, Reese." Leigh said. Reese turned around and punched Leigh's jaw. Leigh fell to the ground with a loud thump. "I do not control Daniel feelings Leighanna. Don't blame me. I never even loved him in the first place so why don't you just live your life and try winning Daniel's heart (if he even has one) or look for another good looking vampire to fool." Reese said. "Now, now little Reese. I'm sure you don't want to make a scene right? Leigh is a student here and punching her jaw would send you to detention right?" Daniel asked. "Why don't you two just leave me alone?!" Reese asked. "Pain." Leigh said making Reese fall to the ground.

Reese winced and thought of a way to stop Leigh. Reese thought of the fire 4 years ago that killed Leigh's family. Leigh shut her eyes making Reese stand up again. Reese thought of a passionate night she spent with Daniel years ago. And then she thought about Leigh's half human and half vampire cousin that the elders punished. "Stop! Stop! Make it stop! Please Reese! I beg you!" Leigh shouted making Reese smirk. "Okay now, pretend nothing happened and leave me alone." Reese said walking away from the scene.

"It isn't safe anymore Trevor. I'm sure once Leigh and Daniel go back to Town they'll inform the elders of our dirty deed and I don't want the werewolves and vampires to get heated again." Reese said. "I know that it isn't safe Reese. I am willing to accept the consequences of breaking the rules from you Reese." Trevor said. "But.... I-I-I'm..... not." Reese mumbled. "You're not willing? Do you really love me Reese? Or is this just a fling to you?" Trevor asked. Reese avoided his gaze but Trevor lifted her chin to meet her eyes. "Answer me Reese." Trevor said. She had to hurt him. She had to let him go. She'd rather hurt him than see him die. "Yes, I don't really love." She pushed Trevor's hand away. Her eyes were blue. She was sad. "And yes, this is just a fling to me." Reese said. Trevor broke down to his knees staring sadly at her eyes. "You should've told me from the start. And now you're just making me mad!" Trevor shouted. He turned into a werewolf and attacked Reese. "I don't want to hurt you. Just leave me alone and never bother looking for me." Reese said as she disappeared into the night.

Reese was starving. Feeding from blood banks wasn't enough. She needed to bite flesh. Reese was could not risk killing innocent people that's why she only fed from animals. So she snuck out of the house and went to the woods to hunt. She spotted a deer nearby and she positioned herself and waited for the right moment to attack. When the deer wasn't looking, Reese quickly leaped and attacked the deer. But it wasn't enough. She needed more. She searched again and found another deer.

Reese wiped her bloody mouth with the back of her hand and made her way back to the house. She was finally full. She stopped dead in her tracks when she smelled a very familiar scent. Vlaxier... "Listen, I just need to know where Desiree is. Just tell me." Reese was on camouflage mode. She didn't want Vlaxier to smell or notice her presence. "I'm sorry but I can't help you Sir. I don't know who Desiree is. You can ask anyone, no Desiree lives here." Gale, her land lord said. Reese didn't tell them her real name for emergency purposes. She knew the Council of Downworld and the other vampires would come looking for her. Vlaxier grabbed Gale's throat. Reese hesitated. She wanted to help Gale but Vlaxier would tell everyone. "Vlace! I'm here, I'm here. Please don't hurt her." Reese said. Vlaxier let Gale go and walked towards Reese. "We need to talk." Vlaxier said as he walked past her. Reese gave Gale an apologetic and followed him out of the house. Vlaxier walked towards the direction of the woods. "The Council sent me to come watch you Reese. You must stop your business with that werewolf as soon as possible. You know that Seynia can tell if I'm lying and I do not want to lie to them. I'll be back to square one again." Vlaxier said. Vlaxier was a Senior Vampire. The Senior Vampires do the dirty work for the Council of Vampires. The Senior Vampires wear three different kinds of jewelries to identify their ranks. Emerald, Ruby and Diamond are the three ranks. Vlaxier owns a ruby ring. "I knew you'd come. I already broke up with him yesterday. It was a mistake. I thought he was a human. Screw me for falling in love with a werewolf. He was so nice to me." Reese said. Vlaxier lifted her chin to meet her eyes. "Some things are just not meant to be Reese." Vlaxier said. Reese broke into tears. Vlaxier wiped the golden tears falling out of Reese's eyes. Vlaxier hugged her small figure, and kissed the top of her head. "If only Vampires and Werewolves made peace." Reese said, her voice breaking."The Council do not want to have peace Reese. Their decision was final the day they found out you were sleeping with him." Vlaxier said. Vlaxier was like his older brother. Her mother liked him and he always visited their home in Arkansas. "Then its time I change that." Reese said. "I know what you're planning to do Reese. You can't kill Davious alone." Vlaxier said. Davious is the leader of the Vampires. He was a thousand years old and the oldest of all vampires. He was strong and powerful. He can control the nature and fire. He can also heal fast. His army was the senior vampires. "Who said I was alone?" Reese asked.

Reese and Vlaxier walked quietly towards Dane's front porch. Dane was a vampire that had special powers. He can control the ice and water."Are you sure he lives here?" Vlaxier asked Reese. Reese nodded. "I can smell him. He's near. Shh." Reese said holding one finger up to make Vlaxier shut up. Reese listened and sniffed. She knocked on the door. Dane's scent was getting nearer and nearer. The door flung open and Reese wrapped her arms around Dane. "Dane! It's been so long! I was still taller than you when I last saw you." Reese said placing her hands on her hips. "Yeah well, a lot of changes happen when you hit puberty Aunt Reese." Dane teased. Reese gasped and smacked his arm. "How dare you call me Aunt? I'm just seventeen years old! I'm not that old. I'm old enough to be your older sister!" Reese argued. Dane chuckled and shook his head. "Okay, so what brings you here?" Dane asked. "I'm with Vlaxier. Vlace, where you hidin' now?" Reese asked. Vlaxier was no where to be seen. "I swear he was just right behind me." Reese said. She jumped when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around but saw no one. "What?! Vlace you didn't tell me you had invisibility powers!" Reese shouted. Vlaxier appeared again with a frown in his face. "Invisibility power? Seriously? How old are you five? You should learn more about the Vampiro de Libro tsk tsk tsk. I wonder how you became the Vampire Librarian." Vlaxier said. Reese rolles her eyes. "Hey you 36 year-old hunk, don't you have sarcasm? Tsk tsk tsk. Of course I know why you became invisble. You said Mi cuerpo disappiro! Inside your mind and said mi cuerpo appiro to let your body appear again. I don't even know why I became the Vampire Librarian. I just loved reading books." Reese said. Dane cleared his throat. "Oh right, Dane. We came here to ask if you wanted to join us? On planning and fighting Davious' army? If you don't, I'll cast a spell that you wont say a thing to anybody." Reese said. "Ever. Again." Reese whispered at Dane's ear. "First, I wanna know the reason why you want to defeat him. Did he challenge you?" Dane asked. "No. And I don't plan on telling them because if I do, they're not gonna play fair. You know Davious. I bet Leighanna and Daniel are siding with them since they hate me." Reese said. "What's in it for me?" Dane asked. Reese jumped and hugged him. "Yay! I knew you'd say yes!" Reese said. Dane sighed and hugged her back. There was no point of arguing with Reese. She'll win anyway. "What's in it for you? Freedom! To do whatever you want! To go to any country you wish to visit and stay at!  To leave Arkansas with or without permission! And to marry anyone you like..." Reese said. Vlaxier smiled sadly and placed a hand on Reese's shoulder. Reese smiled. "S'alright. Trevor and I... This is so stupid. I make everyone think that the reason I'm doing this is for freedom but in reality, I'm doing this for love. I'm doing this for Trevor. Even if he isn't doing anything to fight for us." Reese said with golden tears streaming down her face. Vlaxier hugged her and placed his chin on top of her head. He rubbed her back. "Vlace?" Reese asked, he hummed in response. "Promise me you'll never leave me. You're all I got." Reese said, her voice breaking. "You're stuck with me... forever, Reese." Vlaxier said. Reese smiled and stood on her tippy toes to kiss Vlaxier's cheek. Vlaxier smiled and kissed her cheek but missed. He kissed the side of her lips. "Uh- sorry. Didn't mean to do that. Now Dane, you in or out?" Vlaxier asked Dane trying to change the topic. Trevor felt his chest ache. He knew Reese kissed somebody. He felt it. And he knows it. Dane rubbed his thumb and index finger against his chin and narrowed his eyes as if to think for an answer. He sighed. "I'm doing this for Reese. Nothing more." Dane said. Reese smiled and wrapped her arms around Dane's neck. "Thank you Dane. This means a lot to me." Reese said rubbing his back. Dane smiled. "My pleasure, Reese." Dane said.
