Prologue: Welcome to the Game
The night was supposed to be ordinary. Just another group of freshmen settling into their dorm rooms, unpacking clothes, setting up desks, and nervously introducing themselves. The fluorescent hallway lights buzzed overhead, the sound of distant chatter and laughter filling the air.
But then, everything changed.
At exactly midnight, a deep, resonating chime echoed through the dormitory, shaking the walls as if reality itself had cracked. The ceiling lights flickered, the air thickened, and an eerie, static-filled voice blared from the dorm intercom:
"Welcome, participants, to Dorm Survival Game. Your mission: survive until dawn. Protect yourselves. Protect your teammates. The game begins now."
And then, the screaming started.
Chapter One: The First Night
The first thing Alex noticed was the sudden suffocating silence that followed the announcement. Every sound in the dormitory had vanished—no laughter, no voices, no footsteps. It was as if the entire building had been sucked into a vacuum.
His roommate, Ethan, stared at the ceiling, pale-faced. “What the hell was that?”
Alex swallowed hard and turned toward their dorm door. The wooden frame rattled as something heavy pounded against it from the outside.
Thud. Thud. THUD.
A deep, guttural growl seeped through the thin cracks, sending a chill up Alex’s spine. The doorknob twisted violently.
“Someone’s trying to get in,” Ethan whispered.
“Not someone,” Alex corrected, stepping back. “Something.”
A piercing scream echoed from another room down the hall, followed by frantic footsteps and the sound of furniture crashing. The entire dormitory had erupted into chaos.
Ethan grabbed his phone. “No signal. Wi-Fi’s down too.”
“Figures,” Alex muttered. He turned toward the wardrobe in their room—his last hope of barricading the door. But as he stepped toward it, something changed.
The air in the room bent unnaturally. The wardrobe, an old wooden piece left behind by previous students, trembled as a deep, violet glow seeped from its edges. The door creaked open on its own, revealing a swirling void—an otherworldly portal into a dimension Alex could barely comprehend.
“What the—” Ethan gasped.
A pair of red, glowing eyes stared back at them from the abyss.
Before Alex could react, the pounding at the door grew more aggressive. The wood splintered. A rotten, decayed hand forced itself through the crack.
The game had begun.

Chapter Two: No Way Out
The door wouldn’t hold much longer.
Alex and Ethan stood frozen as the wood splintered, revealing gray, rotting fingers clawing their way through the cracks. The guttural growls grew louder, accompanied by the sickening sound of something wet and hungry smacking against the door.
“We need to block it!” Ethan shouted.
Alex snapped out of his shock. He grabbed the desk chair and rammed it against the door, but the force on the other side was too strong. The door hinges groaned, barely holding under the relentless attack.
Then Ethan did something desperate—he grabbed the mini-fridge and shoved it in front of the door. The heavy thud of the appliance slamming into place gave them a few extra seconds. But it wouldn’t last.
“What the hell is going on?” Ethan gasped, backing away. “This is—this isn’t real, right? It’s gotta be a prank. Some sick—”
Alex cut him off. “No prank has zombies, Ethan!”
The word felt strange on his tongue. Zombies. As if saying it out loud made it more real.
And then they remembered the other problem.
The wardrobe.
That eerie glow still seeped from within, its door barely open. Alex’s skin prickled as he felt something watching him from the swirling void. The red eyes from before were gone, but he knew the thing inside hadn’t left.
“This is a joke,” Ethan muttered again, pacing. “A dream, a nightmare, a—”
A sudden crash from the hallway made both of them jump. More screams. Heavy footsteps running past their door. Then a different sound—a deep, guttural voice, speaking words that didn’t sound human.
Alex’s stomach twisted. He could barely make out what it was saying, but it wasn’t a language he knew. And yet… he understood.
Run. Hide. Or become one of them.
The announcement hadn’t been a lie. This was a game. And they were its players.
Something slammed against the door again, and a new crack splintered through the wood. The mini-fridge shifted. They were running out of time.
Alex’s mind raced. The window? No, they were on the third floor. Jumping would break their legs at best, kill them at worst. The bathroom? A dead end. The wardrobe—
He turned back toward it, dread pooling in his stomach. It was a gamble. But whatever was in there… was probably better than what was outside.
“Ethan,” he said, voice tight. “We have two choices. Either we stay here and let that thing break in, or we go in there.” He pointed at the swirling void in the wardrobe.
Ethan’s face twisted with panic. “You’re saying we just—what? Step into a freaking portal?”
The door gave another lurch. The mini-fridge scraped an inch forward.
Alex made his decision.
“Better than dying here.”
And before Ethan could argue, Alex grabbed his arm and dragged him into the wardrobe.
The second they crossed the threshold, everything changed.
The air turned thick, almost liquid. Colors warped around them—deep purples, electric blues, shifting in patterns Alex couldn’t understand. His body felt weightless, like he was falling and floating at the same time.
Then, just as quickly as it began, it was over.
They landed hard on solid ground, the air knocked from their lungs. Alex coughed, trying to get his bearings. The wardrobe was gone. The dorm room was gone.
And around them… was something else entirely.
A vast, open space stretched before them—an endless forest of black, twisted trees under a dark red sky. In the distance, massive structures loomed—castles? Towers? But they weren’t normal. Their shapes shifted constantly, defying logic.
Something was waiting here.
Something worse than the zombies.
Alex turned to Ethan, who was pale and shaking.
“We’re not in the dorm anymore,” Ethan whispered.
Alex swallowed hard. “No. We’re not.”
And then the ground trembled, and the first creature stepped out of the trees.
The game wasn’t over. It had only just begun.
Let's meet in next chapter.

Chapter Three: The Rules of the Game
The announcement sent a chill down Alex’s spine.
“Phase One Complete. Next Round Begins in 30 Minutes.”
The mechanical voice seemed to echo from everywhere and nowhere at once, vibrating through the walls. The tension in the air was suffocating.
Ethan was the first to break the silence. “Next round?” His voice wavered. “What does that mean? What even was the first round?”
Alex stared at the lifeless bodies scattered across their floor—the zombies that had burst through their door moments ago. If this was just Phase One, then whatever came next would be even worse.
“We need to figure out what’s going on,” Alex said, his mind racing.
Ethan hesitated, then nodded. “Yeah. Agreed. But first…” He gestured toward the bodies. “What do we do about these?”
Alex had no answer.
Instead, he took a deep breath and stepped toward the open doorway. The hallway outside was eerily quiet. The once lively dorm, filled with students moving in just hours ago, was now a horror scene.
The walls were scratched. Blood smeared the floor. Some doors were wide open, revealing dark, empty rooms. Others were shut tight, as if their occupants were still hiding inside.
Alex’s stomach twisted. How many people had made it?
A rustling noise made him freeze.
Ethan grabbed his shoulder. “Did you hear that?”
They turned toward the end of the hallway. A figure emerged from the shadows, moving cautiously. Alex tensed—ready to fight if needed.
But as the figure stepped into the dim light, relief washed over him.
It was a girl.
She looked about their age, dressed in an oversized hoodie and sweatpants. Her dark hair was pulled into a messy bun, and she held a fire extinguisher in both hands like a makeshift weapon.
Her eyes locked onto them, filled with the same fear and confusion they felt. “You’re alive,” she breathed.
Alex nodded. “You too.”
She lowered the extinguisher slightly but didn’t relax completely. “Did you hear the announcement? About the ‘next round’?”
Ethan ran a hand through his hair. “Yeah. No clue what it means, though. But considering the first round had—” he gestured at the corpses, “—zombies, I’m not feeling great about round two.”
The girl frowned. “Same.” She glanced around before stepping closer. “I’m Rachel. My roommate’s… gone.” Her voice caught on the last word.
Alex didn’t ask for details. He could guess.
“I’m Alex. This is Ethan,” he introduced.
Rachel nodded, gripping the extinguisher tighter. “Do either of you know what’s going on?”
Alex hesitated before answering. “Not exactly. But… something came out of our wardrobe. A shadowy figure. It stopped the zombies and told us to ‘survive until dawn.’”
Rachel’s eyes widened. “Your wardrobe?”
Ethan nodded. “Yeah. It turned into some kind of portal, and this thing came out.” He shuddered. “It wasn’t human.”
Rachel’s face paled. “Then it’s not just you.”
Alex’s blood ran cold. “What do you mean?”
She gestured toward the hallway. “I saw something similar in my room. My wardrobe started glowing, and then I heard whispering. I didn’t stick around long enough to see what came out.”
Ethan groaned. “Great. So we’ve got zombie attacks and haunted furniture. Love that for us.”
Alex ignored him. He turned back toward their room, staring at the wardrobe. If this was happening in multiple rooms, then…
He clenched his fists.
“This isn’t random,” he said. “It’s a game. That announcement said ‘Phase One Complete.’ That means this is structured. There are rules.”
Rachel swallowed hard. “Then we need to figure out what those rules are. Fast.”
A loud click echoed through the dorm.
All three of them turned toward the sound.
The lights in the hallway flickered. The air felt heavier.
And then—
A new message played.
“Phase Two: Initiating. Survive the Night. New Conditions Have Been Added.”
A pause.
Then, a second message:
“Wardrobes Unlocked. Choose Wisely.”
The moment the announcement ended, every door in the hallway creaked open simultaneously—including their own wardrobe.
The violet glow returned, illuminating the room with an eerie light.
And then… something stepped out.
Alex barely had time to react.
His survival game had just gotten worse.
