The room is silent except for the soft hum of machinery. Zaira Veyrin, standing in her sleek, modern office, watches the encrypted screen of her desk monitor. Her assistant, Vespera Asteris, is pacing behind her, holding a tablet tightly in her hands.
Vespera Asteris/FL assistant
(nervously)Are you sure this is a good idea, Zaira? Breaking into Valtieri Holdings’ encrypted files… They say even the FBI wouldn’t dare touch their systems.
Zaira Veyrin/FL
(calmly, her fingers moving across the keyboard)That’s because the FBI doesn’t have what we do—this algorithm. It’s untraceable. If anyone can do this, it’s me.
Vespera Asteris/FL assistant
(gripping the edge of the desk, voice lowering)That’s not what I’m worried about. You’ve heard the rumors about Zephyrus Valtieri, haven’t you? They call him “Night Reaper” for a reason.
Zaira Veyrin/FL
(with a faint smirk, her eyes never leaving the screen)And I’m sure he earned that nickname. But you forget—I’m not some helpless pawn in his game. I play by my own rules, Vespera. If he wants to intimidate me, he’ll have to try harder.
(The monitor beeps sharply. A file opens, displaying a schematic of an intricate, ancient-looking device. Zaira’s smirk fades as her eyes scan the image)

Vespera Asteris/FL assistant
(leaning over her shoulder, her breath catching)What… is that?
Zaira Veyrin/FL
(quietly, almost to herself)It’s not a weapon. At least, not in the traditional sense. It looks… older. Centuries old, even. But why would Valtieri Holdings have something like this in their vault?
Vespera Asteris/FL assistant
(shaking her head)I don’t like this, Zaira. You’re poking at something that feels… off. Maybe we should stop.
Zaira Veyrin/FL
(snapping out of her thoughts, her tone firm)No. Whatever this is, it’s important. They’ve gone to extraordinary lengths to hide it. That alone makes it worth knowing.
(The lights flicker. A low vibration hums through the floor beneath them. Vespera steps back, alarmed, as Zaira stiffens in her chair)
Vespera Asteris/FL assistant
(panicked)What the hell was that?

(standing abruptly, her voice sharp)It’s coming from the vault.
Vespera Asteris/FL assistant
(grabbing her arm)Zaira, wait. You’re not seriously going down there—
Zaira Veyrin/FL
(pulling away, her eyes blazing with determination)I didn’t get to where I am by running from answers, Vespera,Stay here.
Vespera Asteris hesitates, her hand lingering in the air as Zaira strides out of the room. The elevator ride to the lower levels is eerily quiet, the sound of her heels against the marble floor echoing. The vault is massive—sterile, metallic, and lit by cold white lights. She approaches a table in the center of the room, where the device from the schematic rests, encased in glass.

(murmuring to herself)So you’re the secret they didn’t want anyone to find…
She places her palm against the glass, studying the intricate details of the device. Its surface is engraved with strange symbols, almost like a clock but with no numbers, only shifting, glowing lines that seem to pulse faintly under her touch.

I wouldn’t touch that if I were you.
Zaira spins around, her eyes narrowing as a man steps out from the shadows of the room. He’s tall, dressed in a dark, perfectly tailored suit, his presence commanding and dangerous. His piercing midnight blue eyes lock onto hers.

(coldly)And who are you to tell me what I can or can’t touch?
Zephyrus Valtieri/Night Reaper/ML
(smirking faintly)The man who owns this building. And the man who will decide whether you leave here alive.

(crossing her arms, her voice steady despite her racing pulse) Zephyrus Valtieri. Should I be impressed that you’ve finally shown yourself? Or concerned that you’ve been spying on me?
Zephyrus Valtieri/Night Reaper/ML
(stepping closer, his tone dark and deliberate)Let’s call it curiosity. You’ve been quite the busy little thief tonight, haven’t you? Breaking into my systems, snooping through my vault… Do you know what kind of man you’re dealing with, Miss Veyrin?

(raising an eyebrow)I know exactly who I’m dealing with—a man who hides behind shadows and myths. You think I’m scared of you? I don’t cower to men like you
Zephyrus Valtieri/Night Reaper/ML
(laughing softly, his smirk widening)Bold. I like that. But boldness without caution? That’s a mistake you won’t survive.
He steps closer, his towering figure just inches away from her. Zaira stands her ground, her heart pounding, though she refuses to let it show. His eyes flicker to the device behind her.
