Mathias was an orphan, he didn't know his biological parents. After reaching the age of 18 he was kicked out of the orphanage to fend for himself. He had landed on a cashier job in a convenience store. One of his regulars was Clement his then crush, he said he confessed his feelings and Clement agreed for them to date.
Two years later he found out that Clement was cheating with other men. Upon confrontation Clement didn't deny and the two parted. Mathias was left feeling like the only person who he had left with had betrayed him seeing no good in the world.
Mathias climbed on top of the building which was nineteen floors high and jumped down with the intention of ending his miserable life.

In the story Mathias Greenheart was the only son of a noble family. He was kind and caring to those around him. One night Mathias went to the fountain to make a wish to find true love, a shooting star appeared as he was making his wish.
A wounded man appeared and started drinking from the fountain, out of his good heart Mathias went to help him not knowing he was the Devil Duke of the kingdom. Other kingdoms had formed an alliance to kill him but he was still breathing.
Mathias took him to an inn, treated his wounds and left. The Duke went back to his palace arranged his men to fight off the alliance. Fortunately he won and united the kingdoms declaring of king.
Since that day he has been searching for Mathias until he found him. The Duke proposed marriage but Mathias denied and when forced he tried to take his own life but survived. Due to his arrogant behavior and pride he forcefully married Mathias and locked him up. Mathias who was not adapted to the situation, his body became weak and later died.
Upon his death the Duke went crazy destroying and killing everyone. The duke's heart was left with regret and eventually he killed himself.
