The Villainess Thorn

The flower that never grow.

One night, atop a building, a girl with short brown hair and brown eyes nervously gazed at the sky.

MC: "So ugly, like me."

The girl started to laugh bitterly. She began to get up and moved toward the edge of the building.

MC: "I wonder how high this building is..."

She looked down and flinched.

MC: "Fawwwwwwwk."

She started to sob, tears falling down her cheeks. She wiped them off and stood up again.

MC: "I'm not a coward. Maybe I am, but not here. Not now, and never."

She sighed, unable to believe how her life had turned out after she left the house. Her mother, whom she loved so much, had died due to breathing problems.

Not a single day gave her a break since her mother passed away just a month ago. She messed up at work, got fired, had no money left, and no happiness.

She wished she could smoke, but her mother’s face before she passed away made her want to stop whatever she was doing before she destroyed herself.

Her mother's voice began to appear in her mind.

(Flashback)

Mother: "My sweet daughter, Alia, don't smoke anymore. It's dangerous for your health."

MC: "Okay, Mom."

Mother: "One more thing..."

Alia leaned closer to her mother as she whispered, rubbing her thumb against her daughter's finger.

Mother: "Listen to your father, and your..."

MC: "The first wife? I know. But I don’t think her children will ever let me live in peace."

Mother: "It's okay, sweetie. You're strong, like the...uh..."

Alia chuckled.

MC: "Like an oak tree?"

Her mother nodded.

Mother: "Yes! Like an... an... oak..."

Her mother's breath began to slow, and Alia started to panic, calling the doctor.

(Flashback ends)

Alia breathed in and out, remembering how soft her mother’s voice had been before she was gone. If wishes could come true, then why couldn’t it be her that was granted one tonight?

Alia put her shoes and phone down behind her, realizing she had forgotten to read her mother’s last messages. She reached for her phone, but a large rat crawled onto her leg.

Alia froze, her eyes wide.

MC: "AHHHHHHHHH!!!"

Alia screamed loudly, wondering why a large rat was on her leg. She stepped back, and once the rat ran away, Alia stepped back again—only to fall off the tall building.

MC: "I TAKE IT BACK!"

Just before hitting the ground, she jumped out of bed and accidentally hit her head on the ceiling.

MC: "OWWWWWW!"

After the pain from her head subsided, she looked around, shocked. Her eyes darted from side to side.

MC: "W-Where am I?"

Suddenly, there was a noise, like water splashing on the floor. She turned her head and saw a maid, her expression filled with shock.

Maid: "D-Duchess!"

A heavy silence fell over the room.

MC: "Who?"

Who am i?

The maid bowed her head.

Maid: "D-Duchess."

Alia looked at her and tilted her head.

MC: "Who?"

--------------------------------------•☆•-------------------------------------

Alia tilted her head and looked at the maid, who bowed until her head reached her waist, her hands placed below her stomach.

MC: "Uhm...who are you again?"

The maid finally lifted her head slightly.

Maid: "M-My apologies, Princess. My mouth must have slipped and called you Duchess instead of Princess."

The maid's hands began to shake as she spoke.

Maid: "It's just that you look very similar to your mother, the Duchess."

Alia stared at the maid, wide-eyed.

MC: "Can you tell me who I am?"

The maid bowed again.

Maid: "You are Sheila De Grazion, the first princess and the—"

Alia cut her off.

MC: "No."

The maid flinched at the sudden "no."

Maid: "N-No?"

MC: "No, I mean—who am I, really?"

The maid jolted, her eyes darting around the room as she intertwined her fingers, trying to find the right words.

Maid: "Sheil—"

Alia’s eyes widened when she heard that name again.

MC💭: "I think I remember that name...but where?"

The maid continued talking about how great Sheila was, but when Alia finally realized who she was, she got off the bed.

Maid: "Princess?"

Alia walked to the mirror and grabbed a lock of her hair. Ah, yes, this hair—the soft blue-cyan hair and sharp purple eyes. This is—

MC: "Nahhhhhhhhh!!!"

Alia grabbed the mirror with both hands, holding it at either side, shaking it wildly.

Maid: "P-Princess??"

The maid probably thought Alia had lost her mind. Who in their right mind would shake a mirror like that, especially not the Princess, if she was already crazy?

Alia pressed her forehead to the mirror and thought.

MC💭: "NO WAAAAAAY! NOT THE D*MN VILLAIN! NO! NOOOOO!"

The maid began calling other workers, who quickly came and grabbed Alia away from the mirror.

The maids gently placed Shila back on the bed, and one of them spoke.

Maid 2: "Please don't hurt yourself, Princess!"

The other maids nodded eagerly in agreement.

Shila began to squirm, but the maids held her arms, legs, and head.

Suddenly, the door opened, and a woman with dark brown hair and gray eyes appeared.

The maids noticed the figure and immediately released Shila, bowing to her.

Maids: "YOUR HIGHNESS!"

Shila sat up and glared at the maids. She then looked up at the figure, her gaze softening as she recognized her. She bowed her head.

Shila: "Mother..."

The Queen nodded and dismissed the maids.

Queen: "Leave. I need to talk to my daughter."

The maids quickly left, closing the door behind them, leaving Shila alone with the Queen. The Queen walked toward Shila and placed a hand on her shoulder.

Queen: "Do you still feel sick?"

Shila stared at the Queen.

Shila: "N-No."

She thought the Queen's face looked very similar to her mother's in her world. Shila swallowed and smiled at her mother.

Shila: "I'm fine, Mother. Thank you for worrying about me."

After the queen left Sheila to rest in her room, she looked out the window and opened it. The birds were flying, free from everything, and playing with their friends.

It reminded Sheila of her childhood. She missed her mother because, when she was a child, she remembered how lonely she had been. Nobody would play with her because they thought she was a freak just because she had a scar on her hand.

She clearly remembered how she got the scar from her aunt. She had lived with her aunt for a month and suffered because of her. Her aunt started treating her cruelly, probably due to the way she was raised.

She couldn’t forget the way her aunt looked at her, as if she were trash. She didn’t understand how someone could be so cruel to their niece—her own half-blood. All the things her aunt did would never be erased from her memory; it was a fresh wound, as if it had happened yesterday.

She wanted to forget it, but every time she closed her eyes, she had flashbacks to that time. It hurt her. She wanted to tell her mother, but she couldn’t—what if her mother told her aunt? And what if—

What if her aunt made it worse?!

She hoped her aunt wouldn’t appear in her dreams. Every day, she lived in fear.

--------------------------------•☆•--------------------------------

She wanted to be the bird… a free creature… but being a bird was also dangerous because they could be hunted by predators.

Sheila sighed, looking around and gazing at the beautiful garden. It was beautiful, but why did she feel uneasy about it? Maybe she'd ask one of the maids later.

She opened the door and looked left and right, forgetting about the garden. She wanted to go home! She didn’t care if her world was already destroyed! This place was much worse than her world because there was no way in this damned world she would be able to live as the villainess!

Before stepping out of her room, she already had a plan....

Plan 🎀

-Bring money □

-Buy enough food □

-Buy the necessary supplies □

-Buy a damned boat or ship to sail □

-Find a damned witch or wizard to ask for help □

She puffed her chest confidently and pulled her hood down to cover her face. Before putting the hood on, she tied her hair because, damn, her hair was almost reaching her thighs.

MC: “Now that’s settled…”

Sheila ran toward the carriage and tapped the carriage man.

MC: “Do not turn around. Listen here.”

The carriage man nodded eagerly, in a panic.

MC: “If you take me to downtown, I’ll give you my jewels—understood?”

Sheila threatened the carriage man with her knife. He flinched, clearly panicked.

TCM: “R-Right away, P-Princess…”

The carriage started moving, and Sheila took a seat. She opened the map and smiled.
