The Destiny

Beginning

Jade POV

My heart thumped in my chest as I woke. I checked the clock, and sighing I rolled out of bed, preparing myself for what I was going to do in the next few hours. Slipping into black clothing and comfortable leather boots, I armed myself with several wooden stakes, and my silver dagger. I sighed again.

Opening my door, I grimaced at the creaking noise it made. I tiptoed onto the landing, ever cautious of waking my sleeping sisters. I crept slowly down the stairs, skipping over the last two at the bottom because they creaked, a lot.

Unbolting the front door, I stepped out and locked it behind me. Taking one last long glance at the house, I sprinted across the front yard and got on my motorbike. I started it up, wincing at the loud roar it let off as I turned the ignition. Glancing around to check there was nobody watching me, I put on my helmet and sped off quietly into the dark.

Niamh POV

I woke suddenly from a nightmare, sitting bolt upright I tried to calm my breathing as my body seemed frozen with fear and my heart thumped in my chest, as if it was trying to escape from its enclosure within me. Eighteen or not, the nightmares still terrified me more than anything; not that they were imaginary nightmares, they were more like distorted memories of things in my past than anything else.

Yawning, I got up and walked to the bathroom, intending to splash some cold water on my face, now my body was actually functioning again, to shake off the last of the nightmare.

Having finished my task, I headed back to my room. As I passed Sarah's room, I stuck my head around her half open door to check on her. I may be the youngest of the three of us, but I cared deeply for my only remaining family, and I honestly would do anything to keep them safe. Sarah was, of course, sound asleep and snoring, as usual. I noticed she had fallen asleep with her headset still on and her laptop on her lap, rendering some video. I sniggered at the typical Sarah behaviour and withdrew myself, closing her door quietly behind me. Noticing Jade's door slightly ajar, I glanced inside. I was met with an astonishing sight; she was gone!

Sarah's POV

I woke up at some stupid time in the night, or morning, or whenever it was, to find my headset still plugged into my laptop which was probably on the verge of overheating; it had continued to render my videos whilst I was asleep. Sitting up, I reluctantly got out of bed. I unplugged my headset, and put that and my laptop away after shutting it down and praying that the battery doesn't catch fire. I then changed out of my jeans and marvel t-shirt into my batman pj's, which were far more comfortable.

Quietly, or rather quite loudly considering how heavy footed I am, I crept out of my room to get a cold drink, but as I did I was met with quite a sight; across the landing, Niamh was outside Jade's room, frozen in place and staring at something inside.

I peeked in around her, expecting to see jade sleeping in a funny position or something of the like, but instead I found no Jade at all. I froze in position, a frown etched on my face-as shell-shocked as Niamh must be.

Episode One

Niamh POV

"Where is she?" Sarah verbally echoed the question which was bouncing violently around my head.

I closed my eyes, unable to move or to respond to my elder sisters' question. I felt a tear drip down my cheek. I felt abandoned, discarded, betrayed. There wasn't an explanation for why Jade was gone; it was the middle of the night and she wasn't in bed, wasn't in the house, and her motorbike was missing according to Sarah who sounded like she was going on a rampage. I couldn't move, I can't think.

My body collapsed to the floor as I began to shake. Jade was the eldest, the one that looked after the broken remains of our family. And now, now she was gone. And I didn't know where. She was just gone. Anger surged through me like a long awaited tidal wave. She had left us, abandoned us, deserted us. She is no sister of mine.

Sarah's POV

"Where is she?" I cry out at Niamh.

She flinched but otherwise stayed completely still; retreating into herself she would refuse to deal with anything whilst she was like this.

My emotions had got the best of me as I angrily stormed to the window in Jade's room and looking outside I saw that her precious motorbike was gone. I screamed my frustration out loud and clenched my fists. I pummelled them on the wall, achieving nothing apart from bruised hands. I sank to the floor, shaking as I tried to fight off the feelings of abandonment that were coming creeping back. I angrily blinked away tears as I stood and bolted to my room. Locking myself in, I ran to my bed and sobbed into my pillow until my throat hurt and I wished I had gotten that drink that I had got up to get earlier.

Jade's POV

The vampire I was watching was dragging some unrecognisable person into a darkened alley. With my suspicions confirmed, I climbed up onto the nearest roof and scanned the alley below me, until I caught sight of him preparing to clamp his mouth on her neck.

Taking a deep breath, I aimed my wooden stake at the centre of his back. In between two deep breaths, I threw my weapon with deadly force. It landed deep in his back, embedding itself as he fell forwards onto the floor, immobilised. He wasn't dead, because the stake was only wooden and not silver, but my first priority currently was helping the person he had dragged into the alley with him.

Jumping from the roof, I landed in a roll on the floor of the alley below. Calmly I walked over to the person, who I could now see was a girl, and helped her up. I walked her out the alley; she appeared to be dazed and confused, with a lot of alcohol in her system. As she wandered off, I turned, and stalked over towards the weakened vampire.

I waggled my fingers at him, saying goodbye. He snarled at me, not appreciating my sarcastic gesture. I smiled and brandished my silver knife. Within a second, I cut off his head, and as a result he turned to ash at my feet.

Walking to where I had stashed my bike, I jumped on and started it up. I raced home, deciding I had had enough of vampires tonight. A few minutes later, I pulled up on the curb at home. As I was about to open the door, it was thrown open by a furious looking Sarah.

"Oh dear." I muttered under my breath.

Episode Two

Sarah POV)

I threw the door open with so much force it pretty much shook the whole house.

Jade sighed and looked at the floor. "Guilty" she muttered under her breath. "Guilty of what!?" I roared with anger. I was so annoyed that I was ready to murder her.

"Of killing vampires." she said calmly, shrugging.

"Wait, what?" I said, shocked out of my anger.

"I'm. Guilty. Of. Killing. Vampires." Jade replied, while flicking her shoulder length, jet black hair out of her clear blue eyes like nothing of such absolute craziness had come out her mouth.

"V-vampires?" I stuttered, shaking.

"Yep." She said, gazing at me intently, watching my reaction closely. Seeing that I didn't believe her, she held up a wooden stake, pointed at it and said "vampire blood, look." I looked, and there was indeed some black liquid on the weapon, and on her silver dagger too.

Finally believing her, I stuttered out an "oh."

Suddenly finding my voice again, I almost shouted, "but mom and dad were killed by v-v-vampires... You lied!" I yelled, suddenly realising what had happened. "You covered up for that bloodsucking freak that killed them!" Jade looked down at her boots. "I was trying to protect you..." She mumbled. I was about to retort, when I heard Niamh come down the stairs, and before I could say anything, she started yelling "protect us! Protect us! Just because you are the oldest, it does NOT mean that you have the right to hide the truth from us!" With that she shot a furious look at Jade, grabbed a vase and lobbed it at her with all her strength. She easily put her hand in the air and caught it, without it breaking - no human could of moved that fast.

Me and Niamh gasped. "Jade?" Niamh asked with a question in her voice. "You guys..." Jade started. "Yes?" I probed her. She moved across the room and sat heavily in a chair. "Well you see... I-I'm..."

"Half vampire" she finally got out.

(Niamh POV)

When I had thrown that vase at Jade, I expected it to crash onto her, or for her to have at least moved out of its way. I almost wish I hadn't thrown it. Almost. Now I knew the truth, everything made a sort of sense. It explains why she goes out at night.

She goes out to suck blood - to be a filthy bloodsucking freak.

I broke down crying on the stairs yet again.

Why my sister? Why our family? Are we cursed? First our parents, now my sister. Ex sister. I thought bitterly.

I gave up on crying, and trod heavily down the stairs to question and shout at Jade some more. I stormed into the messy living room which had mismatched furniture everywhere to find Sarah asleep on the sofa, snoring her head off. I giggled, and then remembered what Jade was now. The smile fell from my face, and my giggles stopped abruptly.

I opened my mouth, and started a sentence that would have most definitely insulted Jade, but she crossed the room in a flash and cut me off by saying, "Don't, just don't. I can explain everything, just don't patronise me any more, ok?" I nodded, and she sat back down.

"Before I start, don't interrupt me, ok?" She said. I nodded again, not trusting myself to speak. Jade took a deep breath and began to tell her twisted tale of four years.
