It was Dark

very dark.

so dark that you can't see past your own face.

That's the kind of dark a young boy found himself in on this night.

Not even the moon, nor the fireflies can help him find his way home.

The only sounds in his ears were the buzzing of fire flies, chirps of the crickets, and his own frantic running and scared breaths.

"N-No... NO! I can't show up late again! He'll.... He'll...."

The young boy was interrupted by horrified tears, not by the dark, or what hides in it, but by someone else.

As the young boy stood in the dry dirt, he heard a voice, one that didn't sound human

"Hello there, child."

the boy's eyes open before meeting the gaze of the tall, shadow-like being. its eyes and mouth glow a deep blue glow, like an angler fish glowing for its prey.

"W-What are you!?"

the child was shaking like the surrounding leaves

"Be not afraid, I'm... Your guardian angel"

the dark one lies

"M-my angel?"

A gentle smile lies across the creature's dark face.

"Of course, my dear, call me Shadow."

the boy wipes his tears

"I-I'm Skylan.. Skylan Blackwood."

A deep yet falsely cheery chuckle emerged from the pretend angel.

"Oh, of course I knew that, my sweet boy. how about I help you get home, then we'll have some fun..."

young Skylan then looked uneasy

"B-but... my dad..."

Shadow grins

"I can hide in your shirt. He can't know about angels, my sweet."

with that, Shadow turns into a smoke-like form and enters Skylan's shirt

Skylan yelps at the feeling of Shadow's cold self against his skin.

"T-that felt weird!"

"You'll get used to it, kiddo."

after a few more minutes of walking, Skylan sees the cabin him and his dad live in.

he holds his arm as he walks to the door, his heart races, his body is in a cold sweat, and his jaw keeps chattering as he knocks on the old splintery door.

he closes his eyes as he hears his dad's footsteps come to the door before swinging it open, beer in hand.

"SKYLAN! what did I say about going in those woods?"

Skylan tries to speak, but it's like his brain is too scared to form words.

the older man forcfully grabs a handful of his greasy hair

"WHAT DID I FUCKING SAY!?"

Skylan cries in pain

"T-T-to..

**POW**

his father punches him, smashing his nose.

"STOP STUTTERING IDIOT!"

the older man pulls him inside and pushes him away in the dark, trashy living room.

As Skylan walks to his room, Shadow was still in his shirt, Shocked by what he heard. he looked at the boy's back, noticing the scars and bruises.

Skylan walked into the mostly empty room, there only being a junky old wooden bed. no dresser as the only peice of clothing he had, was a filthy and oversized t shirt.

**later that night**

Skylan sleeps, not very peacefully.

Shadow stands over him, his eyes and mouth now glowing red.

he forms his hand into a knife, holding it to Skylan's neck.

but before he can go through with the plan he remembers how his father treated him. It's a lot like Skylan's situation.

"I... I can't kill him..."

his eyes and mouth go back to blue.

as he sits with Skylan.

he looks over at him, brushing a piece of his hair from his face.

"I'm no guardian angel... but I will be your guardian demon."

Skylan is soon woken up by the blinding light of the sun shining on his eyes.

he sits up

"Good morning, sweetie."

Skylan is relieved that it wasn't a dream.

"Good morning, Shadow."

Skylan gets up out of bed before peeking out of his door, he sees his dad passed out asleep.

"I can show you around now"

he sounds so happy as he takes Shadow's hand and shows him around.

Shadow is saddened to see how trashy the cabin is. mold on walls, roaches, mildew in the carpet, the smell of booze, and piss.

Skylan points to a picture on the wall

"that's me, my dad, and my mom."

Shadow looks closely, and shock, and guilt strikes him as he sees who his mom is

"She went missing in the woods when I was a baby... I've been with my dad since."

Shadow can't let Skylan know what he did...

"Say kiddo, wanna go outside?"

Skylan smiles for the first time since he got home

"Yes!"

Shadow and Skylan go outside together.

it'd very hot, as it usually is in August.

"ugh... I hate August"

Shadow grumbles

"I love it, my birthday is August 13.

"I'll keep that in mind"

Shadow says.

Skylan plays for a while, kicking dirt mounds, calling birds, and pointing out every squirrel.

until one animal catches his eye, an owl sleeping.

"Woah, an Owl!"

Shadow looks up

"You like owls?"

Skylan gets very giddy

"I love owls! one day I'll have a pet owl."

Shadow chuckles

"sure you will."

they stay out a while longer.

"SKYLAN!"

Skylan's happy mood is now ruined

"My dad's awake..."

Shadow gets back in his shirt.

Skylan goes back in

"Y-yes dad?"

His dad looks pissed

"it's time for your morning beatings."

without time to respond Skylan is now crying as his dad beats the shit out of... Ok as a narrator, this is fucked up. I'll go ahead a skip this.

his dad goes outside to drink more, leaving Skylan badly hurt and barely able to stand.

Shadow comes out and helps him up.

"are you ok dear?!"

Skylan stands

"not as bad as he usually does.."

Shadow's heart would break if he had one.

Shadow was about to go kill the dad when he gets an idea...

Skylan woke up, excited.

it's his birthday.

"Shadow, it's my birthday!"

Shadow Smiles at him

"how old are you turning honey?"

Skylan thinks for a second

"Eight?"

Shadow points to the closet

"I made you a gift."

Skylan's big baby blues open wide

"Wow! my dad never gives me anything."

He looks in the mostly empty closet, it's only inhabitant being a long box.

Skylan opens it as Shadow grins eerily.

inside is a baseball bat and a note.

"Listen to Shadow, and you'll never be abused again"

Shadow comments on the note

"this means that the bat is only part one of your gift, part two is making your father never hurt you again.

Skylan looks confused

"how?"

Shadow Smiles

"You're going to kill him."

the silence is loud, Skylan is Shocked by what he heard, but after a moment of thinking, he grabs that bat and goes into the living room with Shadow, where his dad is in his chair drunk.

Shadow nudges him ahead

"full force, head."

he instructed.

Skylan steps closer.

he now stands right behind his dad, he winds up the bat... and swings.

blood splatters from the dad's head, and Skylan hits him again, and again, and again. blood is now on the walls, the chair, the floor, the TV, the porno mag, the bat, and Skylan.

He stands there, his breath heavy, his pupils dilated, and his innocence shatterd.

Shadow laughs like a proud parent.

"that's a good boy"

He dips his fingers in blood before smearing it on his mouth whole forcing a smile.

"Very good"

Skylan dropped the bat.

"I...I killed..."

Shadow reassures him

"killing those who hurt you is the best way to save yourself, now you're free as an owl."

Skylan looks at his dad's body before smiling

"You're right..."

Shadow takes his hand

"come, I'll train you to be a killer. All humans will fear you. Nobody will abuse you my sweeting."

Skylan holds his hand and walks outside with him

"where are we going"

Shadow opens a fire filled hole in the ground

"Hell"

suddenly, they were in a very different place. the sky was red ad the blood staining Skylan's shirt. the ground black as Shadow, and it's so much hotter.

and all they can hear is the screams of demons

"this is where you'll train, if you can kill demons, you can kill any human."

Skylan looks around horrified, but before he could say anything a large bull-like demon starts to charge at them.

Skylan screams before Shadow swipes at it with his hand, cutting the beast in half.

he then grabs a single rib from its bloody corpes.

"Demon bones are very strong. If you wish to kill demons, we must carve you a weapon."

they sit together as Shadow helps carve the bone with a special knife.

soon the curved blade is finished, Shadow tears a peice of Skylan's shirt and wraps the hilt with it.

"it is finished, the blade you will cut down anyone who hurts you with.

Skylan takes the sword and smiles

"cool"

Shadow dips his fingers in the demon's blood before marking Skylan's right eye.

there is now a red ring around his right pupil, along with a white pentagram in his pupil

"that will make you see your enemy's next attack.

the moment is cut short by another demon.

thus time Skylan sees its next move and dodges before stabbing it through the eye, into its brain. killing it.

"Good boy"

Shadow says with glee.

Tuesday, August 13th, 2020.

Skylan has fought demons non-stop since that day, in hell he doesn't grow tired, he's been eating demon meat, and drinking demon blood.

once he kills this demon he looks around at the countless others he's killed that day

"too easy"

Shadow appears to him

"Heya Skylan, it's your birthday!"

Skylan looks confused

"it is?"

Shadow laughs

"it is silly, and your 18th you know what that means dude?"

Skylan tries to remember

"I get to slay a succubus?"

Shadow laughs

"no, I said Lay a succubus"

Skylan remembers

"Oh yeah, that's right."

Shadow takes his hand

"but that's only part one of your gift."

He says as he takes him to a succubus he knows.

Lilly Is what they call her. she's just sitting on a particularly shaped rock before seeing them.

"Oh, it's Shadow, and the human.. you here to kill me too?"

"No, Skylan here is an adult now. It's his 18th birthday, and I want to see if you or one of the other succubi can.. make this day of his great."

Lilly smirks at Shadow's words

"Of course, that's why Lucifer created us.

She grabs a hold of Skylan's muscular arm and leads him away.

after the whole thing is over, Lilly lies by Skylan

"So, how was that?"

Skylan looks at her unfeelingly

"Killing is more fun."

Lilly kind of expected that

"Of course... though these skills could also help you, if you need to use seduction. let me show you how we do it~"

soon after that, Skylan returns to Shadow

"So, what's part two of my gift?"

Shadow Smiles as he opens a portal to earth

"You're ready to go back"

Skylan's eyes widen in surprise, he's been in hell ten years now, longer than he's been on earth.

"Back..."

Shadow hands him a bag

"also put these on, you'll need clothes on earth."

Skylan looks inside, grabbing the grey hoodie with red sleeves and hood, the blue sweat pants, and the black combat boots.

after he's dressed, he takes a look back at hell

"I'll be back..."

him and Shadow step onto earth.

it's much colder than hell, and brighter.

"You wanna go kill humans?"

Shadow asks with glee.

Skylan laughs like a mad man

"Fuck yeah"

South of the main monster city, Gramclaw town, was a small farming community, and the main home of the Gramclaws, a humanoid monster type with the body of a human, and the face of a bear.

On this day, Mrs Silverclaw was in her hospital bed, nurses around her. The Doctor holding her newborn son.

"Congratulations Mrs Silverclaw, it's a boy."

The doctor hands the young boy over to his mother.

Mrs Silverclaw looks down at him.

"a little ugly, but you'll do uh... GrizzAre."

A nurse writes thAt down.

"Just wish his useless father was here"

Grizzare is trying to learn to walk on his own since his mother's doing drugs, and his father's drinking and watching porn.

He pulls himself up on the trashy coffee table and manages to stand for a moment before his face meets his father's boot

"You're in front of the TV!"

Grizzare cries loudly as his nose bleeds from being kicked.

His mother does nothing to comfort him.

"Ugh, shut up you little brat!"

Grizzare just crawls away on the filthy floor to cry alone.

Grizzare sat at the trashy table, his father isn't home, and his mother is throwing together a quick cake, as it was Grizzare's 4th birthday.

Mrs Silverclaw plops the pancake covered in vanilla pudding with a lit cigarette as a candle.

"Better be grateful, I wasted a cig for you."

Grizzare smiles as he loves his birthday, not realizing how depressing it is.

He blows out the cigarette and makes a wish in his head.

"I wish I will grow up and get to hunt humans."

Mrs Silverclaw hands him a folded piece of paper.

"also your useless father wanted you to have this."

Grizzare takes and reads the letter

"Dear Grizzare... well... here you go. -dad"

Grizzare feels very giddy to read it

his father seldom talks to him, so this is the best gift ever in his mind.

Grizzare was now 7 and going to school.

Gramclaw town is quite politically backwards, so his school didn't teach evolution, dinosaurs, or the big bang.

but did make sure to hammer in one little belief

"Being gay is an abomination!"

Mrs blackclaw screamed at Grizzare when she caught him talking to a boy

"I was just trying to be friendly"

Grizzare says before getting backhanded by his ugly bitch teacher.

later he figured maybe he should try to befriend a girl in.

he walked up to one girl.

(all Gramclaw's bear faces resemble real bears.)

she had white hair, resembling snow.

"Hi, I'm Grizzare what's yo-"

Grizzare gets hit by the teacher again

"DO YOU WANT TO BURN IN HELL?!"

Grizzare cries, causing the polar bear girl to laugh.

"what'd I do this time?"

The witch of a teacher scowls at him.

"if you talk to a girl you'll GET HER PREGNANT! And if you do that before marriage YOU'LL GO TO HELL!"

Grizzare was confused.

he had heard of how men usually feel ways about women and get them pregnant, but he didn't feel that way about her, or any girl really.

Throughout the rest of the school day he got yelled at and hit for just about any stupid reason you can think of.

he Also didn't talk to any other kids.

but one came up to him, it was a grey werewolf boy from the Luna family who moved to town a few years ago.

Grizzare was sitting alone when he came up

"Hi, I'm Fenrir."

after making sure the teacher wasn't around Grizzare spoke

"I-Im Grizzare."

Fenrir sits by him

"I keep seeing you get hit, it sucks."

"She's really mean"

Grizzare says sadly

"She's just a hateful old bag"

Fenrir says with a giggle.

and suddenly as the ground shakes they now fatass is coming

"WHAT!!!!? WHAT!!!!? SAY THAT AGAIN YOU LITTLE MUTT!!!"

Fenrir looks pissed at the slur

"Say that again you big cunt!"

Grizzare looks at Fenrir shocked, he had never heard a kid talk like that.

Mrs Blackclaw starts to beat the shit out of Fenrir

"YOU LITTLE MUTT!!! ILL FUCKING KILL YOU AND SEND YOU TO FUCKING HELL MYSELF YOU WORTHLESS RUNT!!"

After the beating the whale stomps away.

Grizzare looks very worried

"Oh my Cthulhu! Are you okay?"

Fenrir smirks as he stands up

"'Tis but a scratch. Anyway, wanna go take a dump in her car?"

Grizzare looks shocked for a moment, then smiles

"Yeah"

Wednesday, October 12th, 2016.

Grizzare is now 14

he is at his new school.

still only has one friend.

Fenrir runs up and grabs Grizzare from behind.

"Raa! happy birthday bro"

Grizzare struggles

"gah! let go!"

Fenrir drops him

"So, wanna come to my house today? Since you don't let me come to yours."

Grizzare is a little saddened, the reason he doesn't let Fenrir come over is because his parents are still trashy, and he doesn't want Fenrir to see them beat him.

"Yeah, your place is better..."

Fenrir looks over at two girls, one has the face of a black bear, the other of a panda

"Yo Grizzy, check out those two."

"Eh..."

Grizzare looks at them unfeelingly.

Grizzare doesn't know why, but he just doesn't get feel attracted to girls, he never has.

Though he has felt something for...

"Eh? What's wrong with you? They're cute as hell!"

Grizzare shrugs

"they just don't do it for me."

Grizzare and Fenrir walk out of the school at the end of the day.

they start walking through the small town.

not that many houses in the main part, as most Gramclaws live on farms.

The homes and shops that are there have a very cottage core look, making the town look more friendly than it is.

Fenrir points out every cute girl they walk by, Grizzare doesn't care.

eventually they get to a two story house, the Luna residence.

They two boys go inside with Fenrir's key. they're met by Skoll and Hati.

the twin sister's, younger than Fenrir by 7 years.

"Buba, you're home"

Hati says with excitement.

"and you brought him?"

Skoll adds.

"Girls, he's my friend. Also, it's his birthday, so be nice!."

Fenrir says sternly.

Grizzare loves Fenrir's house, its clean, doesn't stink, and Fenrir's mom isn't an addict.

Fenrir's dad is kinda scary though.

"Is your dad home?"

Skoll shakes her head. followed by Hati.

"Just momma"

Mrs Luna steps out of the kitchen hearing them

"Hey son, oh hey there Grizzare."

she says sweetly.

Grizzare smiles warmly, he likes Fenrir's mom, she's actually really nice to him.

Him and Fenrir go up to his bedroom and play video games for a while before Mrs Luna calls them down to eat.

"Ooh, Let's go eat Grizzy."

Fenrir says before darting downstairs.

Grizzare stays behind, pulling an envelope from his pocket, it has a heart and for Fenrir written on it.

he puts it on his dresser before joining them downstairs.

Grizzare loves Mrs Luna's cooking.

Grizzare hadn't seen Fenrir at school today. he was getting worried.

after school he decided to go to his house.

he knocks on the door.

after a minute Fenrir opens the door slightly

"Oh, it's you..."

Grizzare smiles at his friend.

"Heya, why didn't you come to school today?"

"Don't worry about it!"

Fenrir snaps.

Grizzare is taken aback

"Are you mad at me?.."

Fenrir growls

"My dad found your stupid letter to me, I'm not supposed to talk to you anymore so go."

Grizzare looks heart broken

"But... we're best friends"

Fenrir swings the door open, revealing his black eye

"GET OUT OF HERE YOU... YOU HOMO!"

he yells before shutting the door.

Grizzare starts to cry... he knew he shouldn't have wrote that love note... and shouldn't have put it in his room.

He walks back home, looking up at the underground ceiling and the glow worms that are the monster's stars.

When he gets home he's met with a full force punch in the mouth from his dad

"You little freak! Mr Luna told me what you wrote to his son, a BOY!"

Grizzare statts to cry and plead as his father beats him as his mother shakes her head disapprovingily.... at Grizzare.

This became a nightly thing for the next 4 years.

Monday, October 12th, 2020

Grizzare is packing his bags into his car. He is finally leaving this house, this town.

As he sits in his driver seat, he gives his childhood home one final unfeeling look before he drives away.

As he drives down the street he sees Fenrir, he decides to stop next to him to sat goodbye.

"Hey Fenrir..."

Fenrir glares at him

"Grizzare..."

Grizzare looks hurt

"I'm going away, I'm moving to the main monster city to be a human hunter."

Fenrir walks away

"Good riddance gay boy."

This really brakes Grizzare as he drives past the towns limits, past the sign saying

"Welcome to Gramclaw town, the friendliest place underground."

Grizzare scoffs at the sign

"only of you're straight."

he drives for miles until he sees the mix of modern, and Gothic architecture. the main monster city.

Grizzare drives around looking at the diverse species of monsters and the beauty architecture.

He eventually parks infront of a building.

"Hellsing's hell"

An apartment building.

the night before Grizzare was looking for a place online and found an ad looking for a roommate.

Grizzare goes to the floor and room number before knocking on the door.

A Jester woman with green and black coloring answers the door

"Need something?"

she stinks, and so does the apartment.

Grizzare ignores the smell

"Are you Shade?"

She nods

"Yeah, You Grizzare?"

Grizzare nods.

Shade steps aside

"come on in"

As Grizzare steps in the room he knows this is the start of something... Undesignated.

It had been a few hours since Mysty had given birth to her 2nd girl.

She was in her hospital bed, looking into her big, beautiful eyes. One green with a black pupil, the other swapped like all Jester monsters.

"Heh, you kinda look like my momma."

Her little girl looked up at her smiling, emphasizing her poker themed Spade and Club markings on her cheeks.

"Cute, my sweet Shade."

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2002.

Dazzle was sitting in front of the TV, watching a rocker chick performing

"That's gonna be me some day.

Then the door opens, and Mysty squeezes her plump body through, holding her newborn.

Dazzle gets up.

"Mama, you're home!"

the excited 5-year-old says

Mysty sits on the couch, causing to creak as if begging her 470 pound ass to get off.

"Come meet your little sister Dazzle."

Dazzle runs over and looks at the baby

"I love her already! What's her name?"

Mysty looks at the little baby and smiles

"Shade"

Dazzle was sitting in front of Shade playing with her little hands

"Do you know what today is, Shade?"

Shade just chews on her own hair

"Aauubba"

Dazzle giggles

"It's your first birthday! You're gonna have some of mommy's cake. "

Mysty comes into the living room and picks Shade up

"Come blow out your candle, sweetheart."

Shade smiles as her mom caries her into the kitchen and sets her in a highchair.

Mysty places a small cake that says

"Happy 1st birthday, Shade!"

She places the candle on and then lights it.

Shade looks in awe at the flame.

She has never seen fire before, but it awakens something in her.

"Blow on it."

Shade listens to her mom and blows.

Slightly disappointed that the flame is gone.

As Mysty is cutting the small cake, she thinks to herself

"If only her Daddy was alive to see her."

The three eat the cake up, unsurprisingly. Mysty's fatass got the biggest piece.

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006.

Shade peaked into her mom's room and saw her getting ready for work.

"You shouldn't spy Shade, come in."

Well, Shade has been caught.

She goes into with her.

"You go work?"

The 3-year-old asks, her vocabulary still in development

Mysty smiles at her cute attempt to talk properly

"Yes, sweetheart."

Shade suddenly gets a thought

"what you do?"

Mysty realized she never got around to telling her

"Oh, I actually have a very important job for monsters. I'm a human hunter. I go up and hunt humans to lower their numbers."

Shade's eyes widened in excitement

"WOW!"

Mysty puts her shoes on

"Maybe when you're older, I can start teaching you to fight and kill humans."

Shade jumps up and down and nods her head.

"YES, YES!"

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

At one of the cities, Parks Mysty took 5 year old Shade

Shade runs over to the swings as Mysty sits down to keep an eye on her.

Shade goes to the swings and sees a girl. Skin pale, hair black that fades into white, black teardrop markings under her eyes.

Shade looks at her black eyes with white cat-like pupils

"woah, you're pretty!"

The girl says nothing, only smiles.

Shade remembers something her mom taught her.

"Oh, you're a mime monster! so your kind really can't talk?"

The mime girl shakes her head.

Shade sits by her

"That's ok. I'm Shade."

The girl takes off her white baret hat and hands it to Shade.

Shade looks inside. There's a name.

"Emily. Is that your name?"

Emily nods.

Shade smiles at her.

"That's a cool name. my sister is Dazzle, she's at school now. I'm going to start school next year!"

She says excitedly.

Emily points to herself as if saying.

"Me too."

Shade laughs

"I hope we end up in the same class."

Shade talks to her for a little while.

A girl with white hair, one large eye, and no other visible facial features besides freckles comes up to them.

"Heya, I'm Oculia. wanna run?

Shade looks at the Cyclopiod.

"I'd love too, wanna run too, Emily? it's fun."

Emily smiles and stands up.

Shade and her two new friends run around for a while.

"I need to practice running, I'm gonna hunt humans some day."

Shade says, still full of energy.

Oculia looks at Shade with a wide eye.

"Oh my Cthulhu, that's awesome!"

Emily gestures to herself

"You too, Em? cool."

Shade asks

Soon, it started to get late. Due to being underground, the only way to tell is with the clock tower that dominated the skyline.

"Shade, time to go home, dear."

Shade turns to her new friends

"Aw.. I gotta go. "

Oculia chimes in

"I come here a lot. Maybe we'll see each other again."

Emily gestures to herself as if saying.

"Me too."

Shade smiles.

"Cool, see ya,"

Shade waves as she runs to her mom, who takes her hand.

"You'll get to see your friends again."

Shade was bouncing in excitement.

Mysty was prepping her outfit for her first day of school.

"I'm so excited to get to go to school like Dazzle!"

Mysty gets her dressed up and starts breakfast.

Dazzle sees Shade dancing

"I'm going to school, I'm going to school."

Dazzle remembers that excitement.

"You're so excited, huh?"

Shade, continuing her excited dance

"Yeah, I am."

Dazzle smiles

"I can tell, just don't let other kids be mean to you. K?"

Shade nods

"I'll be Ok."

after breakfast Mysty loads both kids in the car and drives drown the streets of the main monster city. she's playing Joan Jett on the radio as Dazzle and Shade jam out in the back

"This will be me someday,"

Dazzle says with enthusiasm

Shade smiles.

"I'll listen to all your songs!"

Mysty drops Dazzle off at her elementary school first.

than Shade off at her's.

Mysty holds her hand as she leads her to the door.

"Have a good first day sweetie."

She says before kissing Shade's forehead.

A teacher comes out. She's a female Wendigo, with a humanoid appearance, fluffy brunette hair, and little antlers.

"You must be Mrs Foxlove."

Mysty nods

"Yeah, here to drop Shade off for her first day."

The teacher looks at Shade

"I'm Ms Doe."

Shade goes in with her as Mysty waves.

Mysty goes back to her car

"Oh Daniel, you would've loved to see this."

Inside Shade is lead down a hallway with papers of bad drawings on the walls, the screams of tweaked out little kids are all that's heard.

Shade was talking to her friends Emily, Oculia, Pixel, Jinx, and her boyfriend Vex.
