Fated

Prologue

The five candles placed on the points of the star glowed an eerie red illuminating the ring of blood salt around it, to ward off any super naturals from nearing it. The pentagon inside the star was lit by he'll fire, its black smokeless flames flickering in an invisible breeze. In the center of it all, chained at the ankles and wrists, was Eliot. From the scratches around the chains, it was evident he'd put up a fight, or at least tried to. The cuts on his wrists, which looked like it was made with a knife, were bleeding staining his small hands red. Dian froze at the sight, a sense of dread washing over him. "Eliot", he called shakily, voice barely above a whisper. When there was no response, he started to panic. He wasn't ready to lose him yet, not when he was finally able to move on from his past. "Eliot!", he called again, louder this time. Just as he was about to take another step forward, the blood trickling from Eliot's wrists sealed the pentagon completing the ritual. A gust of wind blew, plunging the hallway into darkness with the light from the candles and the fire as the only source of illumination

Chapter 01 (1)

The bar was very noisy with loud music blaring from the speakers. Eliot Rick carefully navigated his way to the counter past the packed bodies on the dance floor.

Eliot was small for his age with light brown hair that turned golden in the sunlight. His wide hazel eyes were framed with thick, long lashes. The kind that girls would kill for. He was slim to the point that his bones could be counted, and his skin was pale, almost translucent.

He generally disliked crowded places, but this bar was an exception. He knew the manager of the bar, Mr. Dan, since they used to live in the same neighborhoods. That was before Eliot decided to move out to live by himself. But they still kept each other in contact and when he opened the bar, Eliot became a regular. And as he paid special attention to Eliot and took great lengths to make sure nothing happened to him, Eliot felt quite safe with him.

"Oh, Eliot!", Mr. Dan called to him when he finally managed to get through the bustling crowd.

"Mr. Dan", Eliot replied smiling by way of greeting, his voice soft and his gentle smile lit up his face which further enhanced his beauty. "I've told you to not call me mister", Mr. Dan sighed while passing Eliot a glass of water as per his custom with a plate of snacks. "I'm used to calling you like that", said Eliot, accepting the snacks, "besides, you're way older than me. It'd be weird if I call you just by your name".

After downing the glass of water, he ordered a glass of cider. His eyes swept across the throng of customers while waiting for his drink to be ready.

"Err... Eliot", Mr. Dan started hesitantly, "how're things going with your family?". Eliot's eyes darkened at the question. Family was a sensitive topic for him. He'd never gotten along with his family well. Even after moving out, there was no real peace.

"Still the same", he sighed looking down at his hands which were locked around his glass, "but don't worry, I can take care of myself". Mr. Dan nodded in understanding, "if it's too much for you to handle, I'm here for you alright?". He just couldn't help but worry despite the assurance.

He'd witnessed helplessly as the sweet, innocent child slowly disappeared throughout the years. He'd watched on as the eyes which were once filled with childish innocence, filled was a sadness so profound that it wiped out all other emotions till, eventually, it too disappeared leaving blank eyes behind. With a heavy sigh, he got back to work but still keeping an eye on Eliot who was once again watching the crowd. The poor boy was forced to grow up too soon. He had gone through so much in his 20 short years of life than even people older than him had gone through.

As Eliot was observing the crowd, his eyes were drawn towards a group of three people. All three of them were good-looking and clothed in designer brands from the looks. They seemed quite unbothered by the stares that the other customers were giving them.

Chapter 01 (2)

The guy in the middle was wearing a black leather jacket over a plain black tee and black jeans. His posture was relaxed, legs crossed casually, back resting back into the cushions. His blonde hair was tied back though a few strands still managed to escape and were framing his face. The thing that stood out the most was definitely his eyes which shown a crimson red which was striking against his white skin.

To his right was a girl. She was easily the most beautiful woman Eliot had ever seen with her straight black hair which reached her waist. Her lips were painted a dark red, the color of blood, which was almost the same color as her eyes. Her black dress sparkled where the light hit making it look like there were a thousand stars sewn to her dress.

Opposite to her was another guy who was the carbon copy of the girl in features, only that his were sharper. His black hair barely brushed his shoulders. His jacket was draped on the seat and through the short sleeves of his tee, his toned muscles were very visible. Just from watching the three of them from afar, Eliot felt a chill run down his spine. They seemed other worldly with an air of danger around them.

As Eliot was observing them, the black-haired guy looked in his direction. Feeling terrified by the hungry glint in his eyes, Eliot excused himself to the bathroom.

He stood in front of the mirror, observing himself. His light brown bangs were almost covering his hazel eyes which were ringed with thick, long lashes. His ivory complexion had paled due to fear, turning his face almost white.

Shaking his head, he splashed water on his face. That look had to be his imagination. It was the kind of look a predator would give to his prey, not human.

As Eliot was gathering his thoughts, he heard the door lock falling into place with a soft 'click' noise. Raising his head from the sink, he slowly looked into the mirror to find blood red eyes stare back at him hungrily. The crazed look in his eyes made him freeze in place, unable to move.

Strong arms locked Eliot's arms tightly in place making it impossible for him to escape. He bared his teeth, and Eliot realized that it wasn't his teeth he bared, but fangs. The vampire tilted his prey's head, exposing his neck and without a hesitation, he sunk his fangs through the thin skin membrane sucking the sweet red liquid coursing through the neck.

Eliot felt his vision darken as he slowly lost consciousness. The vampire looked in horror of what he had done as the body went limp in his arms. He licked the punctured holes clean and watched as the skin began to knit together again. Removing all traces of blood, he turned to leave. He looked at the fragile body on the floor which looked like a sack of skin and bones, like glass that could easily be broken.

The sweet taste of his blood still lingered on his tongue, a reminder that he nearly killed the human and therefore should take responsibility. Making a quick decision, he gently carried the human and returned back to the table where the other two vampires were waiting for him to return.

"We have a situation", he almost whispered, unable to looked either of them in the eye.

Neither of them asked what had happened. Instead they too stood up to leave. Leaving a sum of money on the table, the three of them left the bar and headed back to the clan base with the fragile body in the dark haired vampire's arms.
