\\-Story\\#2
I wrote this short story 9 years ago about my first experience in riding a cable car.
Hope you like it :)
\\-First Riding\\-
It was a splendid spring day. I set my backpack to go to Jericho with my school trip. I didn't wear heavy clothes since the weather there was very hot. We got there at around 9 Am and then went to visit some places. The most attractive thing in Jericho was the cable cars. I had always been thinking of being inside a cable car flying over the houses beside the birds. Because I had never been in one, that was an opportunity to seize. Anxiously, I went to the headteacher and raised my idea to him. He didn't show any hesitation and gave me his agreement. Then, we mounted the bus and headed there.
Approaching to the place where the cable cars were, all the class were extremely impatiently zealous to ride them. We stepped out of the bus and got ready to hop in them in a queue. The unexpected feeling hit me while I was waiting my turn to ride. It was really easier said than done. I felt a bit scared because a new experience can be sometimes petrifying. That was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. I was always afraid of high places, as well as those dangerous games in the fair. New situations always make me quite nervous.
I could see another cable car slipping down nearer and nearer from afar to load a new group of students. After a couple of minutes, a teacher came over and told me that it was my turn to ride with other three students. At that moment, I could feel my heartbeats boosting up in every second the cable car became closer. My palms got sweaty and I had some thoughts that something wrong could happen while we are 70 meters away from the ground. Of course, it was not only the fear of being in a high place. Rather, it was the view of a long way to fall, of rocks far below me with no safety equipment.
I saw my friends were having fun and laughing out loud, which encouraged me to get in with determination. One of my friends reassured me and enthusiastically said that it would be an exceptional moment. I wouldn't like to miss out this chance, and finally, I decided to give it a try. The cable car already arrived and landed in front of me. I moved forward slowly but confidently towards the car to enter first, then I sighed and sat down. After that, my friends took their seats too, and I began to feel more at ease but kind of edgy.
As soon as they closed the door, I took a deep breath through the nose and said eagerly: "Let's do it!". I was vigilant as the car began its first move, and then I tested out the door to make sure it had been shut properly. Every move that the car made, made me feel like never before. It was a brand new feeling. My friends and I were laughing with excitement, and I strove to live the event to the max. We started exclaiming and cheering when the car raised higher points and that was frankly extraordinary despite of the noise and the rowdiness inside the car by some playful students which made it to swing. I still had niggling doubts about the door, so I checked it yet again.
When the car reached out to the highest possible point of it, "Oh goodness!", we shouted. The car became motionless all in a sudden. Immediately, silence and composure hung over the car and everybody started muttering and making assumptions, and it sounded like a cat had got those playful students' tongues. We woke up from that nightmare when we heard the car's cable clanking again, and then it moved like before.
The scene from above was glamorous. I went my hand out of the little window to feel the passing air, and then I took some pictures with my friends and for the scenery around. After five minutes, the car began sinking down towards its platform. I wished it could go back again for another cycle so that I can live that amazing feelings once more. At last, the car landed safely, and we dismounted from it to carry on our eventful trip.
