lily/fl
Hey babe, are you on your way?
lily/fl
Dinner's almost ready! 😊
lily/fl
Yes... who is this?
jake
This is Jake, Ethan's friend.
lily/fl
Oh, hey Jake! Did Ethan lose his phone again?
jake
No... um, listen, something happened
lily/fl
What do you mean? Where's Ethan?
jake
He... he got into an accident on his way to your place.
lily/fl
What? Is this some kind of joke? Because it’s not funny, Jake.
jake
I’m serious, Lily. He’s at St. Mary’s Hospital right now. I thought you should know.
lily/fl
What?! Oh my God. Is he okay? What happened?
jake
I don’t have all the details. He just called me before the ambulance arrived. You should come to the hospital.
Lily’s hands trembled as she gripped the steering wheel, her mind racing. Ethan had been fine just hours ago, teasing her over text about her cooking. How could everything change so fast?
It was silly but it's my first time writing one so please 🥺 trust me you will enjoy it
Please atleast read up to the second chapter
ch 2
Lily gripped the wheel, her knuckles white. Tears blurred her vision as she sped through the rain-soaked streets, Jake’s words echoing in her mind.
jake
He got into an accident… he’s at St. Mary’s.
Her heart felt like it might burst. She couldn’t lose Ethan. Not now, not ever.
She barely noticed the red light ahead until it was too late. The screech of brakes, the deafening honk of another car, and then the sharp, jarring impact.
The car swerved, slamming into the guardrail. Pain shot through Lily’s leg as she screamed, but her mind refused to focus on her own agony. Ethan needed her.
lily/fl
*Gritting her teeth, she pushed open the door and hobbled out. Her leg throbbed, but she didn’t care. Limping back into the driver’s seat, she forced the car back onto the road.*
Lily stumbled into the hospital, her injured leg barely supporting her. Blood seeped through her jeans, but she ignored the nurses who rushed toward her.
lily/fl
“Ethan… where is he?” she gasped, clutching the counter.
Roxanne receptionist
The receptionist frowned. “Ma’am, you need medical attention—”
lily/fl
“Just tell me where he is!”
Roxanne receptionist
“Room 214.”
By the time I reached the elevator, my breaths were ragged, and the hallways blurred through my tears. Each ding of the elevator’s ascent felt like an eternity. My heart hammered against my ribs, and all I could think was, Please let him be okay.
When I finally threw the door to Room 214 open, my knees nearly gave out—not from relief but from sheer disbelief.
There he was, Ethan, standing perfectly fine. Not in a hospital bed, not injured, not even remotely concerned.
ethan
"Surprise!” he shouted, holding up a bouquet of flowers like this was some grand romantic gesture. Beside him, Jake smirked, barely holding back his own laughter.

ch 3
ethan
Ethan stepped closer, still grinning. “It’s a prank, babe! Jake and I thought it’d be funny to see how much you’d freak out.”
ethan
He laughed again, shaking his head. “You should’ve seen your face—”
lily/fl
That’s when it hit me—the sharp, searing pain in my leg. My vision blurred as I clutched the chair behind me for support. My knees buckled, and I collapsed into it.
The laughter died instantly.
ethan
“Lily… what happened?” Ethan’s voice was different now, panicked.
lily/fl
“I… I almost got into an accident,” I whispered, barely able to get the words out
lily/fl
Tears burned my eyes, but I forced myself to continue. “But I didn’t care. I just wanted to see you, to make sure you were okay.”
I heard footsteps rushing into the room, followed by a doctor’s voice.
doctor
“We need to get her to the ER, now!”
I lay in the hospital bed, staring blankly at the ceiling as the doctor’s words echoed in my mind:
doctor
“I’m sorry, Miss Evans. The injury to your leg is severe. You won’t be able to ice skate again.”
My life. My passion. The one thing that connected me to my mom, the person who taught me everything I knew about the sport. She had passed away years ago, but when I was on the ice, it felt like she was still with me.
lily/fl
Now, that connection was gone. Stolen by a stupid prank.
ethan
Ethan sat beside me, his face pale and filled with guilt.
ethan
“Lily… I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean for this to happen. I didn’t know…”
His voice broke, but I couldn’t bring myself to look at him.
Didn’t know? Didn’t mean to? Those words didn’t erase the pain in my heart or the loss of my dream. How could he think it was okay to joke about something so serious? How could he not see what he’d taken from me?
ethan
“Lily, please,” he tried again, his voice trembling. “Say something. Please.”
My heart wasn’t just broken—it was shattered.
I turned my head to the window, tears slipping silently down my face.
For the first time since I met Ethan, I didn’t want to hear his voice. I didn’t want to look at him.
