Chapter 1: The Forbidden Book
Kevin is a lawyer handling an unusual estate case, stumbles upon a mysterious old book sealed with wax. Driven by curiosity, he opens it, triggering a strange and unsettling chain of events.
Kevin hated estate cases.
The room smelled like old paper and mildew as he sifted through a dead man’s belongings in a dusty law office downtown. His boss had dumped the case on him, saying it was “an opportunity.” An opportunity to waste his weekend, an opportunity to fuck your mind.
He flicked through yet another stack of faded receipts, sneezing as the dust rose. “Why do old people keep every single piece of paper? Like, who needs a receipt from 1975 for a toaster?”
Behind him, the paralegal a bored college kid named Jamie snorted. “At least he was thorough. That toaster probably outlived him.”
Kevin smirked but quickly sobered as he moved to the next pile. Beneath the receipts and yellowed documents was a small, wooden box. It was surprisingly elegant compared to the rest of the clutter, with carved swirls decorating the lid.
“What’s this?” Kevin muttered, pulling it out.
Jamie looked up from her phone. “Treasure? Or more toaster receipts?”
Jamie was making fun of Kevin. But we know curiosity kills the cat and exactly the same thing happened......
Kevin rolled his eyes and opened the lid box. Inside there was an old leather-binded book sealed with crimson wax. The wax was stamped with a strange symbol two overlapping circles with jagged lines running through them. It looked like something out of a bad horror Giving totally horrible and scary vibes
“Ooh, spooky,” Jamie teased. “What if it’s cursed?”
Kevin laughed dryly. “If it is, maybe it’ll curse me into a better job.”
Still, the book felt heavy in his hands, like it was holding a secret. He ran his thumb over the wax seal, debating whether to break it. “It’s probably just someone’s weird diary,” he said aloud, though the uneasy feeling in his gut suggested otherwise.
Jamie raised an eyebrow. “Only one way to find out.”
With a shrug, Kevin snapped the seal.
At first, nothing happened. Then a sudden draft rushed through the room, flipping papers off the desk. The dim but lights flickered, casting sharp shadows on the walls.
“Okay, that’s creepy,” Jamie said, standing up.
Kevin forced a laugh, though his heart was pounding. “Probably just... bad wiring. Old building.”
He opened the book. The pages were blank at first, but as he flipped further, strange symbols and phrases began to appear, written in what looked like dark red ink. The handwriting was jagged, almost angry, and the words didn’t make sense:
“By blood it binds, by flesh it claims, by soul it seals.”
Kevin frowned. “What kind of nonsense—”
Suddenly, the red ink on the page began to spread, forming more words on its own.
“Kevin,” Jamie said, her voice shaky. “I don’t think you should be touching that.”
But Kevin couldn’t stop staring. The book was... alive. The letters twisted and rearranged themselves, forming what looked like a sentence in English.
“Read it aloud,” the book seemed to command.
Kevin hesitated. His rational brain told him to close the book and throw it into the nearest dumpster. But curiosity—and maybe a touch of arrogance—got the better of him.
“Fine,” he muttered. “Let’s see what this thing has to say.”
He cleared his throat and read:
“Through blood and bone, through time and stone, I call thee forth.”
The moment the words left his lips, the room plunged into darkness.
Jamie screamed. Kevin scrambled to find his phone, fumbling in the pitch black. The air felt heavy, pressing against his chest. And then, as quickly as it started, the lights came back on.
“What the hell was that?” Jamie hissed, clutching her phone like a lifeline.
Kevin didn’t answer. He was too busy staring at the book. The once-blank pages were now filled with writing, the letters glowing faintly. And on the back cover, a single word was etched in jagged handwriting:
“Lily.”
“Who’s Lily?” Jamie asked, leaning over his shoulder.
“I don’t know,” Kevin replied, but he had a sinking feeling that whoever—or whatever—Lily was, he was about to find out.
Suddenly, the book grew cold in his hands. Kevin yelped and dropped it, but the book didn’t hit the floor. It floated in mid-air for a moment before slamming shut and falling with a heavy thud.
“Yeah, I’m out,” Jamie said, backing toward the door.
Kevin nodded, his face pale. “Good idea.”
As they left the office, Kevin couldn’t shake the feeling that the book wasn’t done with him......
What you guys think what's next .....
See you soon
Lily, a civil servant with a scheduled structured life, who starts experiencing strange things happening after Kevin unknowingly triggers the curse or u can say spell. Her quiet days turned into chaos as visions and supernatural powers that created a huge difference in her regular routine.
She always believed in living simple life. Her morning routine was the same as every day: alarm at 6:30 AM, tea instead of coffee, a perfectly portioned breakfast, and a brisk walk to work at the City Planning Office. She liked it that way.
Her life was totally normal.Organized and Manageable.
So when she was having a cup of tea it suddenly get's shattered on its own while sitting on the counter, she froze, unsure how to the process at the sight of broken cup which was scattered everywhere.
“Earthquake?” she muttered, though she hadn’t felt any tremors. Carefully, she starts to clean it up, her hands were trembling slightly.
Her phone buzzed on the table. Grateful for the distraction, she grabbed it.
Emily: Don’t forget dinner tonight. 7 PM! No excuses.
Lily smiled faintly. Emily is her best friend and self-appointed personal manager, always trying to pry her out of her introvert shell.
Lily: Wouldn’t miss it.
Sliding her phone into her bag, Lily glanced at the clock. She was running late. Hurriedly, she grabbed her jacket and headed out, pushing the strange incident with the cup to the back of her mind. Totally forgetting about it.
At work, Lily gets settled into her desk and started working up on her computer, determined to shake off the morning’s weirdness/incident.
Her inbox was flooded, as usual, with requests for zoning permits and complaints from that one grumpy resident. She began to type a response to an email when her screen flickered.
“What now?” she sighed.
The flickering grew more than before, the screen was filling with static before abruptly shutting off. Then, in the reflection of that dark monitor, she saw something that made her blood run cold getting goosebumps all over her body.
A figure stood behind her a tall man with broad shoulders, cloaked in shadows having perfect physique looking all well built.
Lily spun her chair around, her chair squeaking loudly, but there was no one there.
“Okay,” she whispered to herself, her heart pounding fast in her chest. I guess “I need coffee.” now otherwise I might go crazy.
She grabbed her mug and headed to the break room, trying to figure out what she saw few moments before. Maybe it was a trick of the light. Or stress. Yeah, stress made sense.
But as she poured her coffee, the lights in the break room flickered. The air grew heavy, and a low hum filled her ears.
“Lily...”
The voice was deep and distant, like it came from everywhere at once.
Her mug slipped from her hands, shattering on the floor.
“Lily,” the voice called again, more insistent this time.
Panicking, she looked around. “Who’s there?” she asked, her voice was shaking with fear.
There was no response, but the room seemed to tilt slightly, the walls were pressing in on her. Her breathing were increasing by every sec , evry moment. Then, as quickly as it started, the sensation vanished.
She stood there for a long moment, staring at her broken mug. A coworker poked his head into the break room.
“Uh, Lily? You okay?”
She blinked, forcing a tight smile. “Yeah, just... bit clumsy today.”
The coworker looked unconvinced but shrugged. “Happens to the best of us.”
By the time she left the office, Lily was exhausted and bit terrified. The day had been a whirlwind of malfunctions, strange whispers, and a growing sense of uneasiness.
As she walked home, the streetlights buzzed overhead, flickering making it more terrifying. She tried to ignore them, but her anxiety was building her blood was running cold with many horrific thoughts.
When she reached her apartment, she let out a shaky breath and fumbled with her keys. As soon as she stepped inside, she slammed the door shut, locking it with trembling hands.
“You’re being ridiculous,” she muttered, dropping her bag on the floor. “It’s just a bad day. That’s all.”
But deep down, she knew it was more than that.
Her phone buzzed again. She snatched it up, hoping it was Emily with some normal, grounding chatter. But instead of a message, her screen displayed a name she didn’t recognize
Kevin Miller
Her brow furrowed. “Who the hell is Kevin Miller?”. And why the fuck this guy is texting me,is he behind all these things happening today. Many thoughts were building up in her head making her tremble on her feet.
She didn’t remember giving her number to anyone recently, let alone someone named Kevin. With her trembling hand, she answered the call.
“Hello?” Who's this???
“Finally,” a man’s voice snapped. “You’re a hard person to track down.”
“I’m sorry, who is this?” she asked, irritation creeping into her voice.
“Kevin Miller. Look, this gonna sound crazy, but listen I think we’re connected. By, uh... a curse. Or a haunted book. Something like that.”
Lily stared at her phone. What the fuck “Is this some kind of prank, right? Did Emily put you up to this?” Did she asked u to do this??
“No! I’m fucking serious about this thing!” Kevin said. “I opened this book but now don’t ask why and how unexpectedly your name showed up in it. And now there's a lot of weird stuff is happening to both of us.”
Lily was about to hang up when she felt the same heavy, suffocating feeling the presence that she experienced in the break room. The air in her apartment grew cold, and a shadow flickered across the wall.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” she whispered, clutching the phone tighter.
“Yeah, see? I know somehow its weird kind of shit. But I’m not making this up to you,” Kevin said, his voice sharp but laced with panic. “We need to meet. I think we’re in danger.”
Lily hesitated. Every instinct told her that this was insane, but the events of the day had already shattered her sense of normalcy.
“Fine,” she said finally. “But if this turns out to be a scam, I’m calling the police.”
“Fair,” Kevin replied. “Tomorrow. 10 AM. Café Luna. Don’t be late.”
Before she could argue, the call ended.
Lily stood there for a long moment, staring at her phone, before a faint voice whispered her name again.
“Lily...”
