The year is 1500 BC and the king Xie Yan is having his 39th birthday celebration. All the clan are making their way to the palace

Bai Ying POV

I was in the carriage with my mom and father as the rest of my clan follows. We are the Fox clan and I'm the last male within my clan. I looked outside the window as we head to the place. "Ying'er" My mother called. I turned around and looked at her as she handed me my face mask. I nodded and took it from her then tied it around my face. We arrive at the place and stepped out of the carriage. We walked into the place and head to the main hall. As we got there we saw a servant. " Queen Bai Su, King Bai Qian welcome, welcome" The servant said before turning around . "FOX CLAN HAS ARRIVED" the servant yelled and we walked inside. We walked up the king and bowed " Greetings Your Majesty" We all said in unison. The king smiled before standing up and making his way to us. " Bai Qian" The king said with a smile. My father smiled back " Xie Yan" my father said. " Come now sit" The king said. We bowed once again and took our seats. Soon after the king returned to his seat and the celebration began. After some hours everyone was chatting when the king raised his hand. " Bai Qian, I see that you brought your only son with you" the king said. My dad smile and nodded " Of course my daughters are all out on their adventures so they are not home right now. So we brought our son Bai Ying" my father said and the king nodded. " However I wonder why he is wearing a mask?" The king asked. " Well it's in our tradition to now show our faces until we hit the age of 18" my mother said. " Well isn't tradition meant to be broken. I wonder how he looks without the mask on" The king said while staring at me. " Ying'er why don't you go play outside" my mother said and I nodded before getting up. I bowed to the king and walked out. " I wonder what that was about" I said as I walked down the stairs. I heard people whispering so I got closer. " Did you hear that the king is trying to take the Fox clan only son as a consort" one person said " Yeah I heard even though he's a male the king still wants to suggest that" another said " I wonder how pretty he is if the king wants him" " me too" I walked away from their conversation confused until I say a small palace where a boy with a book is. I walked over and climbed up. " Hey" I said but he didn't respond. " Heyyyyy" I said again and he looked over at me. I smiled " What are you doing here? Why aren't you at the party?" I said. " I could say the same for you" He said as he looked back at his book. " Well my mother told me to leave" I said and he just nodded. " So why aren't you at the party" I asked. " Because I'm studying" he said. " Studying?" I said and he nodded. I just nodded before I lost my footing and felled. I expect to hit the ground but it never came so I opened my eyes to see the boy. " Thank you" I said and he turned around but I grabbed him. " Since you out why not play with me for a bit" I said and grabbed his hand and ran away. We started playing for a bit and then sat on the grass. " Hey what's your name" I said. " I'm Xie Lie. You?" Xie Lie asked. " I'm Bai Ying" I said " Ah by the way do you know what a consort is?" I asked and Xie Lie looked at me. " Where did you hear that" Xie Lie asked. " From someone in the place they said the King wanted to take me in a consort but I don't know what that is" I said. " It's like... a second lover" Xie Lie said. " Oh... why would the king want a second lover and why me? I'm a male" I said. " That I don't know" Xie Lie asked. " YING'ER!" Someone yelled and I looked up. I stood up and smile. " Mother, Father" I said. I turned to face Xie Lie and took off one of my jade pendants and gave it to him. He took and and looked at me " What's this?" He asked. " My pendant. That way if we meet again in the future we can identify each other. See one half makes a whole." I said and he nodded. I smiled and wave as I turned around and ran to my parents.

However, Bai Ying never expected that months later the king would frame his family and kill his entire clan only he made it out alive.

{ 10 years later}

"Young master!" Someone yelled. I groaned. " Young Master It's time to wake up!" Someone yelled again. It went quiet and my door creaked open. " Ying'er" Someone said. I opened my eyes and faced the person to see my older sister. " Song!" I said and hopped out my head and ran up to her. " Still being lazy as ever I see" She tapped my head. I pouted and she just smiled. " Hurry and get dress so you can eat" She said as she walked out. I put on my clothes on and opened my bedroom doors to see my maid. " Young Master" She said. I smiled and walked out my room and headed to the main hall. I walked in to see my mother, father and sister all sitting. " Look who finally woke up" my father said. " Ah, father..." I said as I sat down and my father just laughed. " Ok, Ok" My mother said with a smile and patted my father hand. " Later we have to go to the palace so we can meet the king to discuss your sister wedding to the crown prince" My father said and I nodded.

'I wonder what the place will look like' I thought

Bai Ying POV

We went inside the carriage and headed to the palace. " Song how do you think the palace will look like?" I asked my sister. " Probably spectacular" She said. " And what about the crown prince?" I asked while looking at her. " Why you thinking of taking him from me" She said playfully " What! No I just want to make sure he's the perfect guy for my dearest oldest sister" I said while leaning on her shoulder. She scoffed and slightly pushed me off and we started to laugh. " However, you need to learn more ethics before my wedding" She said. " Ahhh... But I hate studying. It's so boring" I groaned. " If you do it for me then I buy you the nicest food and give it to only you at the wedding" She said. My eyes light up " Really" I said with excitement and she nodded. " Food always peeks your interest" She said. " Yeah because food tastes amazing depending on who cooks it and it can never break my heart. So food is the best" I said with a smile on my face and my sister laugh and patted my head. " One day you'll find someone" She said and I just smiled. Soon we arrived and the palace and got out of the carriage. We walked into the palace and headed towards the main hall. As we were on our way I looked around and I felt a strange sense a familiarity " Have... I been here before?" I said under my breath. " What was that" my sister said. " Oh nothing" I said with a smile. " THE BAI FAMILY HAS ARRIVED" A servant yelled snapping me out of my thoughts. We entered the main hall where we saw the king sitting on his throne. We all greeted him and he just smiled. " Welcome, Welcome" The king said. I looked at him and I once again sense familiarity but I brushed off the thought. " THE CROWN PRINCE, XIE LIE HAS ARRIVED." A servant yelled and I turned around so see a tall, handsome figure made his way to us. "So that's what he looks like" I thought. I looked down to see a jade pendant on his waist that was very similar to mines. " I guess my mom right everyone has these" I thought to myself. " Father" The crown prince greeted. He chuckled and the crown prince stood up. " Mrs and Mr. Bai" The crown prince greeted and my father nodded. " Good! Very Good!" My father said with a huge grin on his face. " This is very good, we should discuss the date for the wedding" My mother said and the king nodded. " Ah... but before that how about your son" The King said. " Our... son?" My father said and looked at me. I held onto my sister arm in fear " Yes, isn't he of age to get married?" The king asked. " Well...yes but he still needs to learn a lot of things" My mother said. " Well I can teach him if..." The king said. " If?" My father said. " If he becomes my consort" The king said and the room fell into a stiff silence. My father then nervously laughed " Y-Your joking Your Majesty... how can my son be a consort he's a man" my father said. " Oh... I'm not joking. Just look at the boy a soft and cute lamb just waiting to be tamed" The king said as he scanned me up and down. " But.. Y-Your Majesty" My father said. " Song" I whispered. " Mhm" she whispered back " What exactly is a con-" I stopped mid sentence when I suddenly got a headache.

" Oh by the way... do you know what a consort is" " Where did you hear that word" " From one of the servant. They was talking about how the king wanted to take me in as a consort but I don't even know what a consort is"

I grabbed my head and my chest trying to breathe. "Ying'er?" My sister said and she turned to look at me. "YING'ER!" My sister yelled before everything went black. I woke up hours later in a bed and room that wasn't mines. I shot up to see the crown prince walk in. " You're awake" He said and I just nodded. " What... What happened" I asked. " That's what I would like to know. Why did you pass out" He asked as he sat on the edge of the bed. " I-I don't know. I just remember hearing a voices" I said. " Oh?" He said while raising an eyebrow " Yeah, one was asking what a consort was and the other was explaining it" I said and the crown prince nodded. The crown prince stood up " Well let me go get your sister I'm sure she's worried about you" He said. "WAIT!" I said while grabbing his hand. "Was there something else?" He asked. " Well... yes that jade pendant... where did you get it?" I asked. He smiled slightly and sat down again. " Someone very special gave it to me as a kid. He told me if we ever meet again in the future we can use it to identify ourselves. Two halves makes a whole as he puts it" He said as he took my pendant and put them together. " And what about you? Where did you get it?" He asked. " I don't remember I just know I had it ever since I was a child" I said and The crown prince just nodded. " Thank you Crown Prince-" I said before getting cut off. " Xie Lie" He said. " Huh?" I responded " Just call me Xie Lie" He said before standing up and walking out. " Xie Lie? Where have a heard that before" I said. A couple minutes after my sister burst in. " BAI YING!" She said as she ran to me and hugged me. " Song" I said as I hugged her back. "What happened?! Are you okay?! Were you poisoned?!" She said " I don't know. Yes and No" I said with a smile and my sister playfully hit me " Stupid" She said. " Just rest a bit more before getting up okay" She said as she got up. I nodded and she walked out.

" Xie Lie" I said to myself and gave a small smile

Bai Ying POV

After hanging out at the Xie's estate we went home. I had my head on my sisters lap all the way home. I woke up the next day and went to eat. " Ying'er" My mom said. I looked up at her in response. " You feeling better" she said with a worried expression plastered on her face. I smiled at her " Don't worry mom I'm feeling much better" I said and she nodded. " Good cause I wanted to borrow you today" My sister said. " For what?" I asked. " Help me with my wedding gifts for Xie Lie" She said. " Ooooo right" I said and she just smiled. " Okay" I said. After eat I went back to my room and washed up and changed. After I meet my sister outside and we rode down to the main market. We got out the carriage and walked from shop to shop. We passed a dress shop and my sister stopped me " Bai Ying" she said. " Yes?" I said. " Let me run into here real quick. I be right back stay here" she said. I nodded as she ran up the stairs and into the shop. I was outside for thirty minutes when someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around to see two dudes dressed in all black. " Yes..." I said nervously. They didn't respond and then I felt a hard hit on my neck and blacked out. I woke up hours later and saw nothing but a bit of sunlight. I tried to stand but couldn't because my hands and legs was tied. I started to panic when I suddenly heard the door slam open. Something was ripped from my head and I looked into see my attacker. " Y-Your Majesty..." I said in a soft voice. " You... really do look like him" He said. " Like... him?" I questioned. He sighed and held his head down. " They should have just left you with me. I would have taken such good care of you" He said as he creased my face. Suddenly three guys walking in and His Majesty stood up and walked out. I started to panic again as they step closer and closer to me. I closed my eyes and waited for the worse to come until I heard the door slam open again and there was fighting noises. I opened my eyes to the guys fighting someone with a half face mask on. Soon the fighting stopped with the man who had kidnapped me lying on the floor. The masked man stepped closer to me and I closed my eyes. " Don't worry, I'm not here to kill you" he said. 'That voice' I thought to myself. I opened my eyes " Xie Lie?" I said. I heard a soft chuckle " You remember I see" he said as he began to untie me. He helped me up " Thank you" I said and he just nodded. We walked outside and he helped me on his horse. He hopped onto his horse and we rode all the way back to my house. When we reached my house I got off the horse and thanked him again before running into my house. " MOM?!" I yelled. I heard feet behind me and I turned around to see my mom, dad and older sister. " Y-Ying'er" my mom said with a shaking voice. I ran to her and hugged her tightly. My mom began crying as she held my face. After a while we sat down at a table. " What happened? Who took you?" My sister asked. " That I don't know... their faces was all covered... so was my savior" I said. " What do we do" my sister asked my father. " Knowing that he's still alive I'm sure the person behind this won't give up and seeing that I'll be leaving the house next week to live in the palace I sure they will strike again" My father said. " How about he lives with me" my sister said. " With you Song?" My mother said. My sister nodded her head " Yeah, no one would suspect he's there so he won't get kidnapped again. That way we can find out who is behind all of this and why" My sister said and my father nodded. " She has a good point" my father said. " Okay, tomorrow when the prince come we will ask if he's okay with Bai Ying staying with you" My father said and my sister nodded. " It's getting late" my mother said. " Let's all go to sleep for now". We all got up and I went with my sister to her room. I slept with her that night and woke up the next morning a bit earlier than anyone else. I walked out my sisters room and walked in the garden we have. As I was walking I saw a fox sleeping under a tree. I slowly went up to it and sat down. It woke up and looked at me. " I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you" I said and the fox leaned it head on me. " You like me?" I said with a smile. The fox nodded and I smiled. " Me too" I picked it up and sat it on my lap. I began petting it " I wonder? Would the prince let me bring you with me to the palace" I said to myself and the fox looked up at me. " Even if he didn't I would sneak you in" I said with a smile. " Ying'er!!" I heard someone call. " I've got to go" I said as I sat the fox back on the grass. I stood up and said my goodbyes before running away. " Bai Song!" I yelled and ran to my sister. She smiled and gave me a hug. " Where were you?" She asked. " In the garden" I said. " Hurry up and get ready Xie Lie will get here in any minute now" She said. " Okay" I said and ran to my room and got myself ready. A couple of minutes later the prince arrived. " Mr. And Mrs. Bai" He greeted. My father smiled and nodded. " It's good to see you again but we would like to discuss something important to you as well" My father said as he walked towards Xie Lie. " Please" My father said. Xie Lie and my father walked out the room and I heard a little cry. I looked back to see the fox from earlier. " What was that?" My mother said. I ran to the fox and picked it up. " Just my fox" I said. " Your...Fox?" My mother said. " Yeah" I turned around with it and my mother's face froze " Isn't he cute... Mom?" I said. " Sorry I have to go with your father about the discussion" my mother said before leaving the room. " What's wrong with her" I whispered and I pet my fox. I set my fox down and he ran away. Soon after the doors open again and it was my father, mother and Xie Lie. " He has agreed." My father said with a booming voice. I ran to my sister and hugged her. " Bai Ying you go get ready as I have a quick word with your mother" my father said. I nodded and ran out the room to began packing.
