“Hey! Hey!, Wake up!”

“Huh”

“ARGHH! YOU’RE SO LAZY!”

“Who’s there?”

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHO?? ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY!”

“My birthday? are you sure? what's the date again?”

“April 5th.”

“WHAT?”

Melody’s eyes shot open in an instance, just in time to notice her sister’s eyes blazing straight at her.

“Telsey! Oh sweet heavens! What’s the time?” She asked frantically.

“12:50, you’re going to be late for your very own party!” Telsey answered.

“Oh relax, I’m turning eighteen,'' She replied, “It’s not much to look after”.

“Eighteen is a big deal, you’re a legal adult now, you’re welcome”, Telsey bragged.

“Oh, get out Telsey! I’ll be ready soon!”

“Fine.”

Melody let out a slight chuckle as her sister left, she thought that Telsey acted 18 with the demeanour of a 6 year old. She let out a slight sigh and rushed out of bed, it really was late; she must get ready quickly. No time to bathe either.

“I’ll just throw something on”, Melody told herself.

“Finally, you’re down here!”, Telsey exclaimed.

“Yeah, I’m here”, Melody replied.

This party meant a lot to Melody and Telsey, they rarely ever saw their family, yet alone grandparents. They’d always be stuck with work upon work. They haven’t spent a lot of time together, but every last second they’d spent with each other was worth it.

“Hey, the birthday girl is finally here!”, Melody’s father exclaimed.

“Took her long enough.”, Telsey answered, “Anyways, I’ll bring the fruit salad out!”.

“Alright”

“Alright”, was anything alright? Melody was 18, with no job, let alone any relationship or car. All she ever wanted was to find love, but no, there's no time for love. there's no time for a job, or a car, all she needed time to herself. That’s right, time. I need to focus on myself. Melody’s thoughts went racing through her head. With all the years she’d spent like this, they’d never occurred to her.

*Author's Note About Appearances*

Hey! Hope you're enjoying the first chapter so far (haha). Anyways, I didn't note a single thing about any of the character's appearances so here I go! (Skip if you'd like).

Melody (Female Lead) - Ginger hair, curly and long. Spotted freckles on her cheeks and warm hazelnut eyes. Average weight, around 5'3 (160 cm). She's a natural beauty who loves dressing up cozy (Sweaters, Scarfs, Sweat-pants).

(Male Lead will come up later in the novel)

Telsey (FL's Sister) - Hazelnut hair, straight and short with bangs. Rosy cheeks and a young, joyful look. Sparkling, Green eyes. Average Weight and a height of 5'1 (155 cm). She dresses in a very formal style (Dresses, Skirts and Tights most the time). (Telsey is 14 - her name is pronounced Tells-lee)

Melody & Telsey's Father - Dark, hazel hair (usually slick back). Height of 6'0 (183 cm), around 14 pounds overweight, not a full dad-bod. Formal Style and Green eyes.

Melody & Telsey's Mother - Light brown with hazel & ginger highlighted hair (medium-lengthed). Average weight and a height of 5'5 (165 cm). Formal style of dresses and skirts, grey-green eyes.

Grandparents look like any average grand-parent couple, grey hair, wrinkled, cozy style.
