Mr Bang Si Hyuk, still in his night gown robe, is sitting on the red velvet sofa in the living room of his cottage villa, situating at the edge of the city of Seoul, which is not a very crowded place but decorated with many of rich luxurious houses.

It is around 10 am.The sun is shining outside. Summer scent is everywhere. And he is enjoying his morning coffee that his servant, Tae Suk has made him for.

"Umm.... such a beautiful weather!!" he exclaims..... looking through from the big tall glass window into the green garden outside.

Then, he picks up the photo stand from small circle table besides his sofa. The photo shows him and his only daughter hugging, Bang Seungwan....but he has nicknamed her.."Wendy". 

At that moment, Tae Suk, the servant, just come inside to take his mop he has left behind, forgotten...after he has clean up the room in the early morning. This has never happened before. 

"My daughter is 25 now...but she has never even has one boyfriend or use to...."

Bang Si Hyuk is saying...

"I'm getting old now...and has lots of haters...!!..

but I just want someone to look after my daughter especially after I'm gone..."

The servant Tae Suk look up to his master with the mop in his hand.

"Ummm...Master, are you talking about Miss Seungwan getting married to somebody of trustworthy?"

Mr Bang Si Hyuk nods.

Tae Suk continues..."Miss Seungwan is such a beautiful lady!!...And I am sure there are a plentiful of fine young men of status who are interested in her!!.."

Tae Suk is quiet for a moment... then he chuckles his pump face....and continue his saying...

"but being a daughter of such a vicious money loaner ...no fine eligible man would even dare to ask her out..and when they do come ..they come for her money.. Mistress Seungwan knows that.." Tae Suk starts to shake his head .."such a bad luck of hers to have such as a father..poor lady!!"

Mr Bang sighs and says..."ahhh.. Yes..yes...it is such her bad luck for having me as father indeed...."...then his mood changes to opposite and his face is now red... turning to Tae Suk...."WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!...who are you to tell me... being such a bad father...I would have given my life for my daughter..."

Tae Suk is a bit frightened now..and he just turn his face away.... still chuckling a little though.

Mr Bang continues to talk. There is an evil smile on his face. He is remembering something.

"Well, maybe...Mr Jung would keep up his promise ...he made 30 years ago...I heard he has a son called Jung Hoseok..!!"

"Mr Jung...?..Is it your old friend from College?"

Mr Bang nods.

Mr Bang is a money loaner for many successful businessmen...He is well known for his forceful method in getting back the money he had lend with great deal of interest too... in which he become such a rich man. His wife has died long time ago, leaving him a beautiful good mannered daughter, Seungwan or Wendy. Although, Mr Bang is not so clean with his business in many cases, he rises his own daughter as a good well manner and kind lady with good morals.

In his younger days..Bang Si Hyuk wasn't even interested in doing business. He is more interested arts such as painting and music...and literature. But when his parents died and most of his family farm has been taken by the ones who lend the money to farmers, his parents. Since, then fate has somehow made him to persue the career he thought he hated most...but for survival he had done well out of it.

Tae Suk is a family servant since Mrs Bang Si Hyuk is still alive. Tae Suk is very loyal and loves his master with life no matter what the world talks about him. Bang Si Hyuk indeed is very kind to Tae Suk and his family, Tae Suk's wife, two sons and his parents. Bang Si Hyuk support Tae Suk a lot then.

This luxurious vintage villa is Mr Bang Si Hyuk private house for taking rest. For this summer holiday, he has taken only one servant with him...his most trusted Tae Suk.

Bang Si Hyuk is not so happy about his job of course..but those who borrow money from him and not given back the money needs some punishment too..and he has done nothing wrong...he just make the pay back by public rules...(if one cannot pay back...he did take their houses and lands).. and Nope!!...not all those his little victims are innocent...some of them running away from the money they have borrowed..

But he is worried about his only daughter. He does not want her to continue the job. Yes..he wants her to tie to another family name better than himself.

Mr Jung Ji Wook is his best friend from young days. The two love each other and had promised that when they have children of different genders, they will make the kids married so they can become related. Mr Jung Ji Wook is a respectable man in city. He has done so many good things to public as a past official mayor or the city of Seoul. He is not as rich as Mr Bang Si Hyuk..He has two children one girl and one boy.. Jung Yoona and Jung Hoseok...Mr Jung Ji Wook is a moralistic man...but as the two beloved friend has taken different path in life, will he be keeping his promise to his best friend from old days...?Will he want his son to marry such a vicious money lender's daughter?

At that very time..Wendy is enjoying her summer at Jeju, a famous island in South Korea.

In Jeju....

The two pretty girls are enjoying time, walking by the seaside. One looks medium height with long brown curly hair. She is very cute with her round face. The other one looks a little taller with black straight hair. Her appearance is similar to that of a model but she looks rather cute in some way too. They are both wearing white T shirt, black short pants, sandals and big sun glasses. A holiday wear indeed.

It is such a hot holiday. Wendy, the girl with the brown hair, is really sweating walking along the beach.

Joy, her best friend, is walking alongside with her. 

Wendy (taking off her sunglasses): "Ohh..the weather is too hot. Omo...I'm sweating. I'm tired!! Even the pretty view of the sea doesn't help..!!"

Joy: "Yes...I agree. Let's go back to our bungalow..."

The two girls walk to the group of beautiful brown bungalows by seaside near the big tall hotel.

However, just as they are about to reach to the resting bungalow, they can see a middle aged couple arguing.

In fact, the man starts hitting the  woman endlessly. He seems to be taking pleasure in doing so. Wendy has just seen them having loving and fun moments the day before ..and now he is hitting her...No one seems to care about the matter however... Everyone around just walk pass them.

Wendy is very disgusted by the man behaviour.

She does not consider herself a feminist but she cannot accept if anyone especially women are mistreated.

Out of anger,  she just goes straight to the couple arguing place...and shouted at the man. ..

"Heyy ...you ...you..man... stop it...you said you just love her yesterday...so don't hit her !!"

The man: "You better stay away from this business..she is my wife. I can punish her for her misbehaviour."

Wendy: "Misbehaviour?. it's you who are doing it!!..and if you don't stop, I'll call the police."

That seems to make the man angry even more. He turns to Wendy now. Wendy is starting to get a little scared inside.

Joy quickly go to the woman and hold on to her. " Don't worry, Sister", she says.

"So you little pretty round face wants a fight! Before, you can go to the police, let me give you a lesson first!"

The man is going to hit Wendy. She is now stepping backwards and he is coming towards her. Just as he is about to hit, another man catches his hand.

"No gentleman... hitting women is not so fun. You better be kind to them...".

He is a tall fine young man in red hair.

The man saying to his wife: "What is happening today.. my flower Jane, you get heros to save you today.... "...

by saying that, the man tries to kick the young man leg. But the young man is swift enough. They fight. Both of them get the bruises. The young man wins. Ladies are very happy indeed except for the wife. "That is enough..!!.. I thank you all.." she says as she gets herself out of Joy's arms, run to her husband. She tries to help him stand up and they just go inside their own bungalow and shut the door.

The young man sighs. He turns to Wendy.

"Sometimes, it's better to ignore things, lady... well, I wish you good luck!!"

He then turn to his friend who is coming into the area at the time..

"Ahh..Chim Chim... I'm ready ... let's go!"

The two young men go out of sight.

Wendy and Joy then looks at each other.

"I have not even ask his name yet. Well, thank you mister.. although you don't stay to hear it. "

Joy then put her arms around Wendy. Wendy holds her back.

This will not be the last time Wendy encounters the red haired young man.

The night has finally come. People are partying around the swimming pool because there is an important party the Hotel is holding. Yep, it is the 25th anniversary of Emerald Shan Gri La hotel. Everyone is having fun. Wendy and Joy are at the party too.

While Joy is talking with employees at the event for some of her private business, Wendy just walk alongside the beautiful swimming pool. Beautiful lights are around the above. Wendy happen to go near the edge of the swimming pool. Well it is the nearest the she could do. She wants to learn how to swim. But her phobia stops it. She looks the water surface and sigh.

Just then....

Suddenly, someone push her from behind.

Wendy is so scared..When she looks up, she can see the evil smile of the man standing at the edge of swimming pool. He is the same man who hit his own wife that afternoon. After very short time, he just walks away from there.

Wendy is very scared. "Help! Please Help!" she screams. Everyone come near to the swimming pool... nobody dare to dive in even those who can swim. There is a belief that is someone who can swim help the one who is drowning because because they can't swim, both of them will drown...as a result of the one who cannot swim will hold on the so tightly to the other person that can cause both of them drowning..

The employees are shouting...

"call the staffs who can swim now!!....do something..!!"

Everyone is just very restless but nobody is going to help Wendy. And she is drowning and drowning to the bottom now...

It is just then, the young man with red hair appear again dive himself into the swimming pool and picking up Wendy's body up to the surface and finally up to edge of the swimming pool...

He does need to perform..kiss of life on her too...

Finally , Wendy opens her eyes, see the gentle eyes of the young man...those eyes are showing that he is so worry about her. ..Wendy somehow feels very relieved... she closes back her eyes because she still feels numb from drowning. However, in her head, she is thinking..."such a hero!!"

The dim light has come into the wooden Bungalow of Wendy and Joy. The room is now getting dimer and dimer.

The night before, Wendy has been unconscious in the red haired dude arms after he helped her from drowning in swimming pool of Shan Gri La hotel.

However, when she opens her eyes, she is lying on her bed in her bungalow. Joy is sitting on a chair besides her be, sounding sleeping by lying her head on her arms/hands on Wendy's bed. There is a little snorting too...from her slight open mouth..

Wendy stares at her friend, smiling and shaking her head a little.

Wendy then touch her friend's nose with her index finger ...and press a little hard

that makes Joy wakes up.....

She sits up upright back...and then..

"Ahh..it's hurt"

Her arms are red because of her head resting on them for several hours..

" Ohh Wendy ...you wake up finally.....are you ok!"..You had been sleeping nearly whole day and night...!!"..

Wendy:"Really!!..Oh I remember...I drowned last night . He came and help...!!.Er...I even forgot to thank him!"

Joy: "Well... you are not so conscious last night!"...

Joy's face light up .... and say...

"Yep...I'm interested to meet him again too...a beautiful red head dashing hero..." by saying that Joy just get up to turn on the light.

Wendy is trying to sit up on bed and says

"Joy.. let's go out. I need to feel some fresh air?"

Joy: "Are you sure you can go out?"

Wendy nods...

"and I want some red velvet ice cream we had on the first day of our arrival here.."

Joy looks at her friend and one of her eyebrows goes up..

"Okay. let's get prepared and go!!"

On the same day that Wendy has been sleeping whole day, Mr Jung Ji Wook, the father of the red haired young man that has saved Wendy, has been visited by a man in the brown suit at his office in the city ...the office for important officials in parliament. ... hours before Wendy wakes up in Jeju.

At the day, everyone congratulate to Mr Jung Ji Wook for his elder child, daughter, Jung Yoona got married several days before.... those who have not get the chance to join the wedding party.

"Happiest congrats to your daughter..Mr Jung!!"..the words are repeated the whole morning.

But then the man in brown walks in..ask for Mr Jung...who is working in his private office room.

Mr Jung comes out to meet his guest who is said that is his old friend from the past.

And yes...as soon as he sees the man...Mr Jung Ji Wook remembers the man immediately.

The man takes off his brown hat and says..

"Long time no see buddy..do you remember the promise we make ....time ago.."

and yes...Mr Jung Ji Wook remembers..

Back in Jeju...in late afternoon....

The two young men are sitting and resting on a bench in front of the hotel they are staying.. staring into a deep blue sea.. they are resting after playing volleyball with other youth there who are at staying the hotel..

Finally, the young man with cute cheeks and fair hair says to the red head young man who is closing his eyes....

" Hobi, Hoseokie...do you enjoy the holiday.. Hyung (brother)...."

Hoseok: "Yes..I feel a lot better!!"

Jimin (The fair haired man):"Time will heal your heart!..Just think she and you has no destiny together."

Hoseok nods.

Hoseok has just had a broken heart not so long ago when his girlfriend of four years ran off with another man. He has just heard that she is now pregnant with the man.

His best friend, Park Jimin or better known as Chim Chim among friends has done everything for his friend Hoseok to recover. Hoseok finally gets better... with the help of his family too. Hoseok thoughts go to Yoona, his sister who has just got married not so long ago. It is funny enough..at her wedding, all the ladies tried to catch the bride's bouquet. But as he happens to be near the group of the girls ..the bouquet strangely fell into his hands.But Hoseok is sure he is not getting married for sure.. Because he could never ever love any women again. He is now quite scared of them in fact...for a reason. He would not let his heart break again.

Anyway He hopes her husband treats her well. He is serious about it especially after his encounterment with the abusive husband the day before. He wonder how is the wife now?

Then, his thoughts turn to the brave lady who dare to interrupt the abusive man..as Hoseok thinks about her...he smiles..."Quite brave indeed.. but she should have been more sensible about it!" what if he has not been there at the moment when that abusive man is going to hurt her.?..He does not want to think about it anymore.

Jung Hoseok and Park Jimin are friends since they were in primary school. They actually loves each other like brother. When they grew up however, they do separate their jobs. Park Jimin has good taste in fashion because it's his family business ...but he is building he is own business on his own too..that makes his family proud of him.

Jung Hoseok has just graduated with master in Business and also in political science. He just does not know if he should just help his mother with hotels and tour management or he should work hard to become the head of Embassy as his father has wish him too..but before he could decide anything...his life is falling apart.

After a moment of silence..Jimin speaks..

"Man..it's such a hot summer... let's go and get some ice cream to cool down.."

"Ok, " Hoseok nods.

So they goes to the ice cream shop situated in the garden of the hotel.

But then again...as they come closer to the ice cream shop.. Hoseok bumps into a woman..who is walking restlessly with red velvet ice cream in her hand.. the people are crowded at the place at the moment. When the man suddenly passes her to get ahead and he kinds of hit her to fall ...it is the time she happens to bump into Hoseok. She falls above him. The red ice cream are falls and spread on his body ....but more astonishing thing is her face is falling above his and she try to pick her face up..and they end up touching their lips..

At that very moment... Wendy is feeling so strange. Her heart is beating fast...

It is only a peck on lips...but she knows that she has felt beyond somehow.

They finally let off each other...and say "Sorry" together at once...His face is astonished by the event too.

But.

His clothes are now..so he is hurrying back to his own hotel room. Jimin follows him. But before he could disappear from sight .. Wendy shouts to Hoseok..

"I'm very sorry Mister.. but thank you so much for everything!"

Hoseok doesn't look back...

but he says back..

"You are welcome, lady."

Then he continues his way.

Wendy is left standing there and besides her.

Then, she looks up to the sky. !!

The sunset is beautiful!!

But to her at that moment... everything go red.. Velvet Red.. It's colour is just beautiful. Wendy encounters lots of red these days..

She smiles and tells herself...Joy is standing watching her...

"It is a red summer indeed!"
