The First Lady Who Takes No Prisoners
Track 1
This book does not follow the conventional chat story format.
Damien
"Did the chairman call?"
Narrator
Damien asked his assistant, his voice sharp but calm as he stepped out of the conference room.
Narrator
He had just wrapped up a grueling meeting, one that had drained him more than he'd like to admit.
Narrator
Earlier, before heading into the meeting, he'd deliberately left his phone on his office desk, unwilling to carry it around.
Narrator
Damien knew his phone would incessantly buzz if he kept it with him—especially with his grandfather's relentless attempts to reach him.
Narrator
For the past week, his grandfather had been pestering him to visit and discuss the matter of his marriage.
Narrator
Each time, Damien skillfully dodged the conversation, citing his busy schedule and the mountain of work he needed to address.
Narrator
It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the full truth either.
Juno
"Yes, Mr. President. The chairman asked that you return his call immediately."
Narrator
The assistant replied, her tone professional yet tinged with urgency.
Track 2
Narrator
Damien let out a silent sigh, the weight of the situation pressing down on him.
Narrator
He didn't have the energy for another one of his grandfather's long-winded rants.
Narrator
However, guilt tugged at him.
Narrator
The man was old, after all.
Narrator
Reluctantly, Damien decided he would call his grandfather once he was on his way home.
Narrator
As soon as the call connected, it didn't even ring twice before the line was picked up.
Oberon
"Damien, you're done with work? Good. Don't go back to your place tonight. Come straight to my house."
Narrator
Damien raised an eyebrow, suspicion flickering in his mind.
Narrator
His grandfather was a chatterbox, but this was different. He rarely issued direct commands like this.
Damien
"Why? Is something wrong at your place?" Damien asked, his tone guarded.
Oberon
"Stop asking so many questions and just come home. Quickly!"
Narrator
The old man's voice was impatient before the line abruptly went dead.
Track 3
Narrator
Damien stared at his darkened phone screen, his mind churning.
Narrator
He had a few ideas about what could be awaiting him at his grandfather's house, and none of them were good.
Narrator
No doubt someone was there waiting for him.
Narrator
His grandfather wouldn't summon him with such urgency for no reason.
Narrator
A bitter smirk tugged at Damien's lips as he muttered under his breath,
Damien
‘He's up to something’, as usual.
Damien
"Take the longest route to the chairman's house," Damien instructed his assistant from the back seat.
Narrator
The assistant at the wheel acknowledged the order with a quick nod before turning onto the countryside road.
Narrator
This route was notoriously narrow, with barely enough space for a single vehicle to pass.
Narrator
If another car approached, navigating around it would be a nightmare.
Narrator
The road was lined with quaint village homes, and Damien knew they had to drive carefully; it wasn't uncommon for children to dart out onto the road without warning.
