"It's Easy to Fall, but it's Hard to Find someone to Catch you."

"Brielle!" I called his name as soon as I reached him.
'This is it! You can do it, Arianna! You can do it!' I cheer up myself.
"Yes, Yanna?" Gabrielle asked as he looked at me with a smile.
That smile. Shucks, why does he have to be so handsome with just a simple smile? It makes me fall for him deeper.
"Uhm, I-uh......" Oh my gosh! I'm so nervous!
How do I say it? I'm so nervous that I can't even finish my word.
I sighed as I compose myself. 'You can do it, Aria. You can do it!' I cheer up myself again.
"Ahm-uh, I-I want to tell you something." I said while my heart keeps beating faster, I'm really really nervous. I've been hiding my feelings for him for so long and now that I have the courage to tell him about it, I can't let this pass.
He raised his eyebrows, "What is it?" He asked, curiously.
"Uh, I-I------" Before I could finish my word, someone called him from the back and I knew already who it was.
"Babe!" It was Yasmin, his girlfriend. His first love. His everything. And it makes my heart break thinking about it.
Gabrielle turned around and immediately smiled as he saw her. "Babe, what are you doing here?" He asked as he approached her and kissed her on her cheeks.
"Well, I'm here to say that the party will start soon since almost all of the guests were already here." Yasmin said softly.
"Oh, okay." Gabrielle smiled at her then he turned to look at me. "I'm sorry, Yanna, but I have to go. I need to welcome the guests. If you have something to say, just tell me about it after the party." He said apologetically.
I smiled at him, hiding the pain that I felt right now as I remembered what the party's purpose was. "It's okay, Brielle, don't mind me. And congratulations to both of you." I said with a fake smile.
"Thank you, Arianna." Yasmin replied.
"So, we're going then." They were about to walk away but Gabrielle stopped and looked at me again. "Ah wait, aren't you going with us inside?" He asked.
"Ah no. I'll stay here for a while." I answered.
"Okay, so we'll go first." He said then they walked together inside the mansion with his hands wrapped around Yasmin's waist.
When I'm sure that they are already inside, a tear escapes away from my eyes.
"Ugh! Why did I forget that?" I whispered. "Why did I forget that the reason I'm here is to attend their engagement?" Another tear fell as I said that.
It hurts. It hurts so much that the man I love is getting engaged to the woman he loves.
I thought this was the time that I could tell him about my feelings. But I'm wrong. I'm really really wrong. Even if I confess my feelings for him right, I won't still have a chance because he's engaged.
He may love me but as a friend and I hate myself for being in love with my best friend.
"Ladies and gentleman, thank you so much for coming to this special event of my life with my love." My heart keeps crying as I watched his eyes twinkling as he looked at her. "Being engaged with the woman I love is an achievement for me and I know that this is not yet the most awaited day of my life, but this is just the first achievement for me." He continued. His smile reached his eyes, he looks so happy.
I looked down at my hands as I felt my tears trying to escape from my eyes.
"Are you okay, sweetie?" I heard my mom ask who was sitting beside me.
I looked up at her then smiled, a fake smile. "Yes mom, I'm okay." I said.
She sighed, "How about you?" She suddenly asked which made me raise my eyebrows.
"What about me?" I asked back still raising my eyebrows.
"I mean how about you? When are you getting engaged? Gabrielle is already engaged and about to get married and you, you're still single. Aren't you planning to settle down?" She said.
'How would I settle down when the man I want to be with me for the rest of my life is already engaged?' My mind said and it makes my heart torn into pieces, again and again.
I sighed trying to compose myself, "Mom, I-I'm not yet into that. I'm still young and I'm not yet thinking about settling down. And also, I'm focusing on my career or you can say, I'm busy so I don't have time for that." I said.
My mom sighed as she reached for my hands. "Aria, me and your dad are not getting any younger, we're getting old day by day." She said looking through my eyes. I didn't get her point so I raised my eyebrows. "My point is, we want to see you getting married with the man you love and we also want to see you carrying your child." She continued.
I sighed again as I held back her hands. "I know mom, it's just that I haven't met my Mr. Right yet." I smiled. 'Because the man I thought was my Mr. Right is actually getting married to his Ms. Right and that's not me.' My mind continued.
"I know, I know, I'm just asking you when you are planning to settle down." She said.
"When I meet my Mr. Right." I said as I flashed a smile. "We shouldn't talk about this here." I added.
She sighed and smiled back then she focused on the stage.
I sighed again as I looked at them, Yasmin and Gabrielle sweetly talked to their guest with their parents.
"I wish you happiness in your life with her. If we are really just friends, I'll accept that but I'll still love you more than a friend as I always do." I whispered as I closed my eyes then smiled sadly.
"I need to know if I should raise or fold my heart is stuck on hold I wanna know which way to go~~"
...ARIANNA...
It's been a week since my failed confession and Gabrielle's engagement with Yasmin and I still can't get over it.
I tried to move on but I know it's hard especially when the person that I want to move on to is always near me.
I sighed as I rubbed my temples cause my head is aching. I've been busy these days so I don't have much time to rest.
My mom was worried about my health so she always told me to take some rest but I always insisted not to. And now, this is the cause of my stubbornness.
I closed my eyes when my head aches again. Ugh! I think I should take some medicine.
I reached my handbag to get my phone inside when my head aches again. Ugh!
I rubbed my temples again. "Shane? Shane!" I called my secretary when my vision started to get blurred. I tried to close my eyes and open again but my vision is still blurred. "Shane, can you get in here?!" I shouted.
I heard my office's door open and I knew it was Shane when she spoke. "Yes, Miss Cabrera? Is there anything wrong?" She asked.
"Ahm, can you help me stand? My head is aching and my vision is blurred so I can't stand alone." I said.
Shane immediately ran towards me then helped me stand up but before I could even start to walk, my world turned upside down and my body started to fall down as I didn't have any energy left on my bed.
"Miss Aria? Miss Aria! Help!"
All I could hear before I closed my eyes was Shane's panicked voice shouting for help.
When I opened my eyes, all I could see was clear white. Where am I?
"Oh my gosh, finally you're awake!" I heard my mom's voice so I looked around and saw my parents walking towards me.
"Mom, what happened?" I asked.
"You fainted in your office earlier and we came here quickly when Shane called us." She replied, and I saw tears falling from her eyes.
"Hush on, honey. Aria is already awake so don't cry." My dad comforted her.
"I'm just worried." My mom said then she looked at me, "I told you to take some rest but you didn't listen. Look what happened now." She said, worry is visible in her voice.
"I'm fine mom, okay? So don't worry, I'll take care of myself from now on." I said as I flashed a smile.
"You should be!" She shouted which made me and dad laugh. "Why are you both laughing?" She looked at us raising her eyebrows while crossing her hands in front.
"Nothing mom, you're just funny when you're worried." I continued to laugh.
"Hmp!"
I was awoken when my phone rang. With a hazy mind and sleepy eyes, I picked up my phone.
"Hmm?" I answered it immediately without even looking at the caller ID.
"Hey," My eyes widened and my mind was finally awakened when I heard his beautiful soft voice on the phone. My heart beat went faster as I blinked my eyes three times.
"Oh hey," I replied as I cleared my throat. "Uh-uhm, you called?"
"Uh yeah, I heard you fainted in your office, so I immediately called when I heard that you're already awake." He said then he paused for a while before he continued, "Are you okay?" He asked.
"Ah yeah, I'm fine. It's just that I hadn't taken a good rest that's why I fainted." I explained.
Well, I'm still here in the hospital. When I woke up earlier, my mom wouldn't let me discharge immediately, she wanted me to stay here for another day so that I could take a good rest. Because I couldn't do anything, I just agreed rather than fight.
"You should take good care of your health and yourself. Don't be so stubborn. Look what happened now. We're not always by your side to remind you that." Here we go with his brotherly reminder.
He always thinks of me like a teenager, like his lil' sister. Can't he just stop that? It hurts me more when I think that he just treats me like his sister!
"Yeah yeah yeah, I know okay? So don't remind me again. I'm grown now so don't worry." I irritatedly said.
'When are you going to treat me like a woman and not like your lil' sister?' My mind says.
"Tsk tsk. You always say that but you still don't act like one." He said. I can already see that he's shaking his head on the other side.
And hearing what he said, it makes a bang in my heart. Do I really not act like a grown woman? Do I always make them worried because of my stubbornness?
I sighed trying to ignore the pain that I felt right now. "Hey, you still there?" I heard his voice again.
I sighed again, "Yeah," I answered.
"Okay. I'll remind you again to act like a grown woman. Don't be so stubborn and take good care of yourself." He said. I felt like a teenager being scolded by my dad. "I think you should find a boyfriend so that someone can take good care of you." He added.
Like WHAT?! He wants me to have a boyfriend?! The last time I remembered, he chased away all my suitors when we were in Middle High which gives me a reason to think that he likes me too. But of course, all of that was wrong because when I talked to him, he just said that he can't let another boy be near his little sister and that's the first heartbreak I felt.
And now, he's saying that I should find one? I can't believe him!
"Yeah, I will. Ahm, I need to hang up now, Brielle. I need some rest. Goodbye and thank you for reminding me." I did not let him answer because I immediately ended the call.
I can't take it anymore! I can't bear him treating me like his little sister!
I love him yet he just treats me like his sister!
"At some point, you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart but not in your life."
...ARIANNA...
After I got discharged yesterday, I came back to work the next morning like nothing happened. My mom was against it because she wanted me to rest at home but I insisted. I don't want to be stuck at home and do nothing. And I'm feeling better, my mom was just paranoid. I understand her though because I never fainted before even if I work late and barely take a rest.
I came back from my reverie when I heard a knock on my office door. I never got to answer before my mom entered my office with a paper bag in her hand. "Mom, what are you doing here?" I asked as I stood up to greet her.
She sat on the couch in the middle of my office. She put down the paper bag she was holding. "I heard from Shane that you barely eat lunch. So I'm here to bring you your lunch." She says and pulls out what's inside the paper bag. It's two lunch boxes. The first one she opened had a sandwich in it and the second one was pasta.
"Mom, you don't have to do this." I said as I sat down across her.
"No, from now on, I'll bring you your lunch. I've always told you to eat lunch or eat your food on time but you didn't. Look what happened, you fainted because of your stubbornness. "She started to lecture me and I just sighed. "Your work won't fill your stomach. So you better eat food not your work." She continued.
"Yeah, yeah, I will." I muttered. I reached the lunch box that was filled with pasta and started eating. I offered my mom but she says she's done eating.
I ate quitely while my mom went on talking about some stuff. After eating, I thanked my mom before she left. I then go back to work.
After work, I didn't go home immediately. I stopped by the park that I used to go with together with Gabrielle when we were young.
This park was where Gabrielle and I met. Where our friendship started. This place was the witness of everything that happened to my life. Every time I'm sad, Gabrielle would always bring me here but now, I'm all alone. No one would accompany me anymore if ever I want to go here. Because the only person who would do that has his own partner to accompany now.
I smiled sadly. I didn't notice that I was already crying until someone lent a handkerchief in front of me. I looked up and saw a man. "You okay?" the man asked.
I immediately wiped away my unshed tears in embarrassment. Gosh, someone saw me crying! "Uh, yes." I answered without looking at the man in front of me.
In my peripheral vision, I saw him sitting beside me. "Here," he again offered his handkerchief. I hesitated whether I should accept it or not but reached for it so.
"Thank you," I muttered silently, enough for him to hear as I wiped my face—especially my wet eyes with his handkerchief.
"It's nothing," he said and silence followed. After a while of silence he suddenly offered his hand for a handshake. "Tyler, by the way." he said.
I hesitantly shook his hand. "Arianna," I muttered my name and let go of his hand.
"So, why were you crying, Miss Arianna?" Tyler suddenly asked.
I cleared my throat. "Aria, just call me Aria. And to answer your question, uhm I just remember something sad which makes me cry." I lied swiftly.
"That must be really sad because a girl would not cry without a reason." Yeah, it's really sad. Really really sad and hurts.
"I—uh, I should be going." I said as I stood up from the bench. I looked at the handkerchief in my hands that was wet with my tears and was suddenly embarrassed. This stranger saw me crying and offered me his handkerchief. I looked back at Tyler who was already looking at me, making me blush. "Uhm—uh, thank you for the handkerchief. It's wet with my tears so I'll just buy you a new one." I said, still embarrassed by what happened.
Tyler stood up and smiled at me. "It's okay, you can keep it."
A small polite smile formed on my lips. "Thank you again." I murmured and was about to walk away when he spoke.
"Whatever that is that makes you cry, I hope that you'll be okay." he says. I looked back at him and smiled again before taking my leave.
I walked back to my car that was parked nearby and went inside then drove off to my house. When I reached home, my mom called me asking if I was already home. I said yes and she kept on asking questions or reprimanding me—like eating on time and stuff.
My mom is sweet and caring. She always worries about me too much making dad and I sometimes just sighed and said 'yeah'. My mom always treats me like a baby girl while my dad spoils me. I understand them because I'm their only daughter or what they always called their 'unica hija'. Though they spoiled me too much, I didn't take advantage of it, I know my limits. I'm not some spoiled brat who spends money here and there.
A sigh left my lips as I lay down on my soft and comfy bed. My bed has always been my source of relaxation. It always relaxes me. I felt like whenever I lay on my bed, I forget everything. Everything means my problems, heartaches and all negative things that went through my mind. My bed was my own cloud nine.
I smiled at the thought as I slowly drifted to a deep slumber.
