Hello, I'm back with the first chapter. Please let me know your thoughts on it
Cries of discomfort filled the empty room by the innocent soul who was too young to understand what was happening around him
The sounds of broom sweeping the floor could be heard from afar as the foot steps
Approach the door of the supposed occupied room
"Hearing the cries, the janitor, startled, dropped his broom and quickly closed the distance to the door. Peeking inside, he saw the baby."
"As the door was near the crib where the baby lay, he rushed to call the nurse from the reception, their favourite spot to gather whenever they were free from their duties."
(Janitor’s POV begins here)

"I ran as fast as I could. When I reached the reception, I called out for the head nurse, only to see her emerge from one of the rooms, clearly irritated by my shouting. Before she could start scolding me, I quickly explained what I had seen."
(Head Nurse’s POV begins)

"I was preparing the list of medical supplies that needed to be ordered."
Head Nurse
"As the hospital pharmacist was on leave, I was checking the medicines nearing their expiration date when I suddenly heard shouting. I walked out of the room to see Ji Yoon, the janitor, trying to catch his breath
Head Nurse
"Before I could speak, he told me something that left me speechless. Without wasting a second, I ran to room number 97. As I approached, the cries of the baby reached my ears."
Head Nurse
"I entered the room and gasped, 'Why would they do this?' I gently picked up the baby in my arms, rocking him to soothe his cries.
Nurse Iseul
'Where are the parents?' asked Nurse Iseul, her voice filled with concern."
Janitor
''I don't know. I just heard crying while I was sweeping,' Ji Yoon replied.
Head Nurse
"I hushed them and asked Iseul to grab my phone. With the baby fast asleep in my arms, I carefully walked out with him."
Nurse lia
"He is so cute," whispered in awe of the baby's delicate features.
Head Nurse
"Indeed he is," I said to nurse lia as she insisted on holding him
Head Nurse
"I turned to see her holding my phone. Carefully, I handed the baby to Lia and watched as everyone gathered around her, whispering about how adorable he was."
Head Nurse
"I took my phone with trembling hands and stepped out of the room, hoping it wasn’t what it seemed.
Head Nurse
"I searched for the Chief Nursing Officer’s contact. Just as my thumb hovered over the screen to tap, an incoming call flashed—it was from the Chief Nursing Officer’s number. I answered immediately."
Head Nurse
"'Hel—' Just as I was about to greet, I was cut off. 'Jerk,' I muttered in my head."
Head Nurse
Jerk, I said in my head
Chief nursing officer
"'No need for formalities, Yun. I’ve sent someone to handle all the paperwork—he’ll take care of everything. Your only responsibility is to stay out of his way and keep your mouth shut.'"
Chief nursing officer

"He will give you an envelope. Before you do anything, think about your son and the debts weighing on your shoulders."
"After letting out a long sigh, he continued."

"Now, I don't think there's anything else to explain, except this—if this news gets out, be ready to say goodbye to your license and maybe..."
"With a chuckle, he hung up."
Head Nurse
"My heart sank as his words echoed in my mind. I silently prayed for the poor soul who had become a mere pawn in this cruel world."

"I went to the reception, gulped down a bottle of water, and waited."

"Hello, yes, boss. I’m 5 minutes away from the hospital, and after... hmm, okay... okay, boss, got it."

"Would you mind if I name the baby?" he asked in a calm voice. Yon stood there in silence, hoping to hear a yes.
"She watched as the stranger's hand, pen in hand, moved toward the name section."
"He nodded, signalling her to speak."
"After taking a deep breath, she said..."

"After speaking with Yun, I searched for a specific number, pressed the call button, and eagerly waited for him to pick up. After 5 or 6 rings, I finally heard his voice.

'Good morning, boss,' I said, smiling happily."

“I got an instant reply and was in no position to defend myself.”

"Yes, boss," I replied immediately, then continued, "I’ve sent one of my men to take care of everything and also given money to the hospital staff to keep their mouths shut."

I smirked as I lied about giving money to the entire staff when, in reality, I had only given it to Yun.

"Good. Now, make sure to send the men involved in this out of the country for a while until everything is sorted out."
Chief nursing officer
"OK, boss. So, I was thinking—" I got cut off and grinned happily.

"I know, I know. You’ll get it by the weekend. Now don’t call me again and again."

The call ended, and I sighed in relief as I closed my eyes, dreaming about the money before drifting off to sleep.

As the atmosphere grew quiet again, it felt as though a huge storm had just passed through.
A 6-year-old Jungkook, used to it by now, as it had become part of his everyday routine of being scolded by his father, got up from the dust-filled floor. He picked up the dirty, torn blanket and began folding it.
Then he walked toward his bag, which had been passed down by his elder brother. It could barely hold anything other than clothes.
He started packing his bag to leave before his father came to his roo—no, basement—to hit him, as his father couldn’t stand it when someone disobeyed him.
Footsteps echoed as an unknown person walked down the worn-out wooden stairs.
Jungkook immediately recognized who it was from the sound alone—a skill he had developed by paying close attention to how people moved and spoke.
A soft yet manly voice caught Jungkook’s attention as he was tying his shoelaces.
He looked up to see his uncle, the only person besides his elder brother who cared about his well-being.
His uncle was only the good friend of his father.
Jungkook continued packing his bag after tying his shoe lace. he heard a sigh and looked up at his uncle, who looked at him with sad, filed eyes .
Hee-soon knelt down, patted Jungkook’s head, and said,

"Listen to me, son," said softly.
Jungkook stared at him, his eyes hidden beneath his bangs.

"You don't need to suffer like this," he said gently.
He paused, feeling at a loss for words. Then he continued, saying.

"I will take you far away from here and treat you just like my own. Please, come with me," he pleaded.
He begged, unable to bear seeing this innocent child suffer, as he patiently waited for Jungkook’s reply.
Jungkook began to think about how his father would react if he found out that Jungkook also supported the idea of living with Uncle Hee-soon.
Everyone had left Jungkook’s father—his mother, who ran away with the neighbour, abandoning them without a second thought.
His elder brother, who went abroad to study three years ago, had never returned.
He had wanted to take Jungkook with him, but Mr. Jeon refused as Jungkook was the only one he had left by his side.
It wasn’t the first time his uncle Hee-soon had asked him this, but Jungkook stayed silent, lost in thought about his father, who would be left all alone.
The only reason he still called his father Appa was because he remembered how his father had cared for him when his mother left them.
Jungkook and his Appa lived in a small studio apartment. His father worked as a school bus driver to make ends meet.

"I will go with you," Jungkook said, his words causing Hee-soon to smile widely.
