My Unrequited Love
Failed confession
Alan scoffs as he hears Maya pour her heart out, a sweet confession of affection. Nevertheless, every last bit of sugar coated words only reduced to condemnation.
Alan
Why do you insist on confessing when you know that I’ll never reciprocate your feelings back? Your words are sickening to me.
He said assertively, there was a cold, heartless gaze in his eyes.
Maya
*trembling with eyes filled with tears* I...i.... can u give me chance?
Alan's eyes narrow as he looks at her with a mix of irritation and pity. He takes a step closer, his tall frame looming over her trembling form. His voice is low and menacing.
Alan
Chance? You think I owe you a chance?
He sneers, his face contorting with disdain.
Alan
You’re delusional if you think that I, Alan Sterling, would ever consider being with someone like you.
Maya was stunned by his words, unable to speak for a while.
Maya
*speaks after a long while* Sorry for wasting your time, I won't pester you anymore.
Maya turns around to leave
Alan watches as her walk away, a smug expression on his face. He calls out to her, his voice laced with mockery.
Alan
Good! Remember your place and stay away from me. And oh, consider this as a warning. If you dare bother me again, you'll regret it.
Meeting again
Maya left from there without turning back.
Alan smirks to himself as he watches her retreating figure, satisfied that his harsh words finally got through to her. With a dismissive shake of his head, he turns on his heel and strides away, leaving Maya's bruised heart behind like discarded trash.
Few months passed, but Maya never appeared in front of Alan again. Alan felt empty for some reason
After a year later, Alan unexpectedly runs into Maya at a mutual friend's event. He eyes the changes in her - the distant, guarded look, the cold shoulder she gives him. Intrigue flashes across his face as he remembers his cruel words. He approaches with a smirk.
Maya was sitting on a couch with a glass of red wine her hands, her face devoid of any emotions
Alan sits down next to her, his presence commanding attention despite her efforts to ignore him. He leans in close, his voice low and conversational.
Alan
Looks like my little warning worked wonders, hasn't it? You've changed. Become... distant. Almost unrecognizable.
Maya turns towards him with a smile
Maya
*briefly answering him* yes...
He studies her face, searching for any sign of the old, lovestruck her. But he finds none. He finds himself inexplicably drawn to this new her. His smirk fades, replaced by a look of intense scrutiny.
Alan
And what are we to each other now? strangers?
Meeting again (2)
Maya answers him with a smile
Maya
Why are you asking that we have always been just acquaintance, haven't we?
Alan's gaze lingers on hers, his mind racing with the implications of her words. He's always seen her as more, but he's never acknowledged it, not even to himself. The question hangs in the air, heavy with unspoken emotions.
Alan
Acquaintances. Right. Just acquaintances.
Maya just smiles at him and looks away.
Alan's hand twitches with the urge to reach out, to touch her, to feel the old warmth that used to radiate from her. But he hesitates, unsure of the new boundaries she had erected. Instead, he stands up abruptly, breaking the tense moment.
Alan
Well, it was...interesting seeing you again.
Alan finishes awkwardly, a rare hint of uncertainty flashing across his normally composed face. He adjusts his tie unnecessarily, buying time as he tries to reconcile the her before him with the memory of the girl who once proclaimed her love so desperately.
Maya stoods up with a smile.
Maya
Well..it was unexpected.
Alan nods, a faint smile tugging at his lips despite the turmoil within him. He takes a step back, putting some distance between them, as if afraid he might lose control and confess everything if he stays too close.
