Chapter 1: The Unremarkable Life of Jennie Rose.
Jennie Rose's life was a monotonous routine, a never-ending cycle of work, sleep, and repeat. Her office job was a soul-sucking drudgery, where creativity went to die. She felt like a cog in a machine, a replaceable part in a corporate giant. Her coworkers were just as unremarkable, their conversations limited to weather updates and weekend plans.
Jennie's true passions lay hidden, tucked away in the pages of her favorite fantasy novels and the vibrant worlds she created in her own writing. She devoured books on mythology, folklore, and fairy tales, losing herself in the magic and wonder. Her own stories, filled with fierce heroines and dashing heroes, were her escape from the dullness.
But, those were just hobbies, not "practical" career choices, according to her parents. They urged her to focus on her marketing job, to climb the corporate ladder, and secure a stable future. Jennie's creativity was relegated to weekends and evenings, scribbled in secret notebooks and hidden from prying eyes.
One fateful evening, as she scrolled through her social media feed, an unusual ad caught her eye: "Transmigration Experience – Explore New Worlds!" The link led to a cryptic website, adorned with mystical symbols and an otherworldly aura. Out of curiosity and desperation, Jennie clicked the link, and a strange sensation washed over her.
The room began to blur, colors bleeding together like watercolors on wet paper. Jennie's body felt weightless, suspended in mid-air. She tried to speak, but her voice was lost in the void. The world around her dissolved, replaced by an endless expanse of white.
When Jennie's vision cleared, she found herself standing in a lush forest, surrounded by towering trees and strange, glowing plants. The air was alive with an ethereal energy, pulsing with magic. She stumbled forward, her feet carrying her toward a shimmering light in the distance.
As she approached, a figure emerged from the radiance. He was tall, dark-haired, and piercing-eyed, with an aura of power and mystery. Jennie felt an inexplicable pull toward him, as if their fates were entwined.
"Welcome, Jennie Rose," he said, his voice low and hypnotic. "You have been chosen for a great purpose, a transmigration of souls. Your journey begins now."
Jennie's mind raced with questions, but before she could ask any, the stranger vanished, leaving her alone in the mystical forest. She looked down at her hands, and they seemed different, stronger and more agile. Her senses were heightened, and she could feel the magic coursing through her veins.
With a thrill of excitement and trepidation, Jennie Rose took her first steps into this new world, ready to embrace whatever lay ahead.

Valerie Valentine. The name echoed in Jennie’s mind as she walked through the forest, each step drawing her deeper into this new world. No longer Jennie Rose, the unremarkable office worker, she was now Valerie Valentine—a name that felt powerful and dangerous, like a secret waiting to be unraveled.
Her senses thrummed with energy, every sound and sight sharpened. The rustle of leaves, the perfume of wildflowers, the distant call of an unfamiliar creature—it was intoxicating, a symphony of magic and life. Valerie felt a surge of excitement, but also a tremor of uncertainty. This wasn’t a fantasy novel she could close if things got too intense. This was real, and she had no idea what awaited her.
Soon, the forest gave way to a clearing, and in its center stood a grand mansion shrouded in shadows, its towers stabbing the sky. Ivy crawled up the stone walls, and the windows glinted ominously in the fading light. Valerie’s heart raced. Who lived here? And more importantly, where was she supposed to go?
“Welcome, Valerie.” The deep voice startled her. Valerie turned to find a man standing near the forest’s edge, his presence both commanding and unnervingly calm. His dark hair fell over his piercing eyes, and his tailored suit did little to mask the aura of danger that clung to him.
“You’re Liam,” Valerie whispered, as if saying his name aloud made the reality sink in. How she knew this, she couldn’t explain. Memories that weren’t hers flitted through her mind—flashes of him, moments of pain and passion, locked together in a tapestry of fate.
Liam’s gaze never wavered. “You remember,” he murmured, almost to himself. “Good. That will make things easier.”
Valerie stepped back. “What’s going on? Why am I here?”
His lips curved into a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “You belong here. Our fates are bound, Valerie, for better or for worse. But you’ll understand in time.”
He strode forward, his movements swift and predatory, and Valerie’s instincts screamed at her to run. Yet, as he approached, she found herself frozen, trapped by his magnetic pull.
“Come,” Liam said, extending his hand. “We have a wedding to prepare for.”
“What?” Valerie’s breath caught in her throat. “A wedding? Whose wedding?”
“Yours,” he replied, his voice a blade of certainty. “To me.”
Valerie Valentine was no stranger to the feeling of powerlessness, but in this new world, every moment felt like a test she was bound to fail.
Liam stepped closer, and Valerie’s breath hitched. He was dangerous, undeniably so, but there was something else—something she couldn’t name—that made her pulse race. His eyes, dark and unreadable, bore into hers.
“Our families are sworn enemies,” he said. “Bound by blood and betrayal. But this marriage is a truce, a necessary evil.”
Valerie’s mind raced. She remembered the stories she had read, the tales of mafia families and power struggles. “You mean... this is about revenge?”
Liam’s jaw tightened. “For both of us. You think you’re the only one who lost everything? Our marriage is a chance to rewrite our fates.”
Valerie’s anger burned brighter. “And I’m supposed to just accept that?”
“No,” Liam said softly, surprising her. “But you’ll see. This world is not as simple as good versus evil.”
He turned and gestured for her to follow, but Valerie stood her ground. Her mind was a whirlwind of confusion and fury, yet curiosity stirred within her. Who was she in this world? Was she truly a villainess, destined to be entangled with Liam’s darkness?
As if sensing her hesitation, Liam glanced back. “There’s a room prepared for you. You’ll be safe there, for now.”
Safe. The word felt like a joke, but Valerie followed, her mind racing with plans of escape. She was led down a long hallway, each step echoing in the silence. The doors on either side were carved with scenes of ancient battles, warriors and monsters locked in eternal combat.
They stopped at a door that swung open at Liam’s command. Inside was a lavish chamber adorned with rich velvet curtains, a grand four-poster bed, and a balcony overlooking the dark forest. It was a prison wrapped in luxury.
Before she could protest, Liam spoke again. “This isn’t just about you or me, Valerie. Our world is a web of alliances and betrayals, and you’re a crucial piece.”
Valerie stared at him, hating the way his voice made her heart race. She was supposed to despise him, wasn’t she? Yet something about him drew her in, a magnetic force she couldn’t deny.
“Why do you care about this truce so much?” she asked, hoping to see a crack in his armor.
For a brief moment, Liam’s gaze softened, as if haunted by a memory. But he quickly masked it, his face becoming unreadable once more. “Because revenge is a path I won’t walk alone.”
With that, he left, the door closing behind him with a soft click. Valerie sank onto the bed, her fists clenched. How had her life turned into this? One moment, she was Jennie Rose, a mundane woman yearning for adventure. Now, she was Valerie Valentine, caught in a tangled web of power, passion, and danger.
Determined not to be a pawn, Valerie stood and walked to the balcony, the night air cool against her skin. Somewhere out there, answers awaited, and she was determined to find them.
But as she gazed at the stars, a whisper of magic brushed her senses. The energy of this world pulsed through her veins, making her stronger, fiercer. She would survive this, and maybe—just maybe—she would find a way to bend this world to her will.
Because if she was a villainess, she would be the kind who wrote her own story. And she couldn’t shake the feeling that Liam, for all his darkness, might become more than just an enemy.
Her obsession with the villain was only beginning.
---
Valerie sat on the velvet-covered bed, her mind swirling with unanswered questions and a gnawing unease. The ornate chamber, despite its grandeur, felt like a gilded cage, and Liam’s parting words echoed in her mind: “Revenge is a path I won’t walk alone.”
Why me? Valerie thought, running her fingers over the cool, intricate carvings of the bedpost. Her transmigration into this world had placed her at the heart of a centuries-old feud, but she had yet to understand why she mattered so much—or what power she truly wielded.
Determined not to sit idle, Valerie stood and walked to the large vanity mirror. The reflection staring back at her was almost unrecognizable: the once-tired eyes of Jennie Rose had been replaced by the fierce gaze of Valerie Valentine. Her hair fell in luxurious waves, her posture radiated confidence, and an aura of latent magic surrounded her. But underneath, she was still herself—terrified yet defiant.
If this world expects a villainess, then that’s what I’ll be. She refused to be anyone’s pawn.
A soft knock on the door pulled her from her thoughts. Before she could respond, the door creaked open, and a young woman with golden hair peeked in. She wore a simple maid’s uniform, but her eyes sparkled with a keen intelligence.
“My lady,” the maid said, stepping inside and curtsying. “I’m Elise, assigned to serve you during your stay.”
Valerie narrowed her eyes. In a world of shifting loyalties and hidden motives, she couldn’t afford to trust anyone. “Serve me, or watch me?” she asked, her voice cool.
Elise flinched but recovered quickly. “A bit of both, if I’m honest. Lord Liam has his ways, but I’m here to help you, truly. You must be confused about everything.”
Valerie studied Elise, sensing no malice, only caution. Perhaps an ally could be useful. “Then help me understand,” Valerie said. “Why does this marriage matter so much?”
Elise hesitated, then stepped closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. “It’s more than just a union, my lady. The Valentine and Blackwood families have waged war for generations. Blood has been spilled, and grudges have festered. But the magic that binds this world is old and vengeful, tied to the oaths and promises made long ago.”
Valerie frowned. “Magic... and revenge.” She clenched her fists, frustration building. “How am I supposed to make a difference in all of this?”
Elise’s expression softened with pity. “You’re not just anyone, my lady. You carry magic in your blood—magic that was awakened the moment you entered this world. If the marriage is broken, chaos will follow.”
Valerie’s heart thudded. So that was it. She was a walking, talking key to the balance of this world. But why did she feel so out of control?
Before she could press Elise further, a commotion erupted outside the chamber. The heavy stomp of boots echoed in the hallway, and Elise’s face paled.
“What’s happening?” Valerie asked, but before Elise could answer, the door burst open.
Two guards stormed in, flanking a figure Valerie hadn’t expected to see so soon—Liam. His dark eyes smoldered with barely restrained fury, and his jaw was set in a grim line.
“Out,” he ordered Elise, who quickly bowed and left, her gaze flicking back to Valerie with concern.
As the door shut behind them, Valerie’s heart sped up. Liam crossed the room in three swift strides, his presence suffocating yet electrifying. He stopped just a breath away, and Valerie fought the instinct to step back.
“You’ve been asking questions,” he said, his voice low and dangerous. “Digging into matters you’re not ready to understand.”
Valerie refused to be intimidated. She lifted her chin, meeting his gaze. “What else am I supposed to do? You’ve trapped me here with no answers and expect me to play along.”
Liam’s eyes darkened, and for a moment, she thought she saw a crack in his mask. “You think this is easy for me?” he whispered, the words slipping out before he could stop them.
Valerie faltered. There was something raw in his voice, a pain he couldn’t hide. But the moment passed, and his expression hardened once more.
“Your safety is paramount,” he said, his control slipping back into place. “Until the wedding, you will remain here. Guarded. Protected.” His voice turned cold. “And if you try to escape, the consequences will be dire.”
Valerie bristled. “You don’t own me, Liam.”
A humorless smile tugged at his lips. “No. But our fates are bound, like it or not.”
Before she could muster a retort, Liam stepped back, his gaze lingering on her for just a second longer than necessary. Then, with a sweep of his coat, he strode out, leaving her alone with her racing heart.
Valerie sank onto the bed, her mind a whirlwind. Liam was hiding something, a truth buried beneath layers of bitterness and duty. And if she wanted to survive—and perhaps even bend this world to her will—she would have to unravel the mystery of the villain who had ensnared her.
Her path was set, but whether it would lead to triumph or ruin, only time would tell.
