Belinda...
New York was always the first city that came to mind when asked where I wanted to live. I've always been amazed by how city life can be in New York. This is my third year since I've moved here. Yap, still I have it in heart. I fell in love with a city that one day would be my home. Three years down the line and I love it more than any other cities in USA. Born and raised in LA, and yet I had no such love like which I had for this particular city.
It's where all my hopes and dreams have come true. Even though it's not all of them. I still had so much to see and hoped the city could provide more too. In terms of sou mate, I already had one. He's super loving and caring. This one man I fell in love at first sight. He helped me from a guy who almost tried to take advantage of me one fateful night three years ago.
Kinda lame but that's how we fell in love. At first it was like I was the one who ended up confusing care for love but in the end he still fell for me. So we decided to give it a go and see if it would work.
" Bell, quit spacing out, or we are gonna loose. Focus lil missy. " Sam hit me slightly on my arm trying to get me back from the land I had been engulfed in.
"Sorry." I mumbled a quick apology before getting my attention back in the game as I rearranged my cards.
I aced in playing poker. Over the months I've been pretty unbeatable. Can't deny the fact that the man am in a relationship with is a beast in poker. It's just naturally that I follow in his foot steps. I'd simply say I had good luck that the universe usually provide but this was a different case, I was always good with numbers and calculations thus it made it easier for me to have higher chances of success.
" Your cards." I heard the dealer's voice announce.
Later it was my turn to lay down my cards on the table.
"What!" one of the guys eyed my cards in utter disbelief. His eyes almost pocking out of its sockets. "How does she keeps winning every game?" he spoke loud enough to burst my ears drums and his voice had a hint of annoyance in it.
It was a clean swift of win. A royal flush it was. Sam screamed in excitement upon seeing my cards. The dealer closed the game with us being the winner as he slid over to our side the pile of dough. The rest of the players quitted after being broke.
"I can't believe this, am mad doomed." the same guy from earlier spoke scratching behind his neck taking a step closer to us.
"Relax man, it's just a game. Next time better luck." I pointed out while we stashed our money in a black bag that Sam had previously prepared. Knowing how I ace in poker, she always is prepared for lots of cash.
"You bitch." he cursed.
"Chill out man. Who are you calling a bitch?"I got annoyed.
" Let's get out of here before he causes any trouble. " Sam suggested and I agreed.
" Who? Me. Cause trouble. You little bitch how dare you... "He dragged.
" You better keep your mouth shut if you can't win it fair and square. "I warned cutting him mid way.
" Damn you." he cursed again.
" What was that again? I didn't quite hear you. Speak up like a man if you are so bold. " I raised my voice at the end.
" Fuck" He was about to throw a slap to my direction when a hand stopped him mid way.
" Dare and I promise, you will definitely go home short of an arm. "he warned.
" Douglas. "I called.
" Nah baby girl. You know I don't like it when when you call me that. "he complained.
" What are you doing here? "I whispered asked.
" Missed me. "
" You wish. " I rolled my eyes.
" One sec. " he turned back to the guy who tried to hit me. " You are one bold bastard to even have the guts to raise your filthy hand on my woman. "he stated letting go of his arm.
" She's your woman..?Am so sorry.. I didn't mean to." he pleaded.
" Get out of here before I change my mind about letting your arm rest on your shoulder. " Douglas warned.
Job well done. The guy disappeared without a second thought. That was super cool at the moment coming from him. But I still hate the fact that he always let it get the best of him.
" Any wins today?" he asked while coming back to me as he stretched his arms to my ass past my waist.
" Yeah, a lot infact. "I bragged clipping my arms over his shoulders behind his neck.
There he was doing that thingy where he pulls me closer to him in order for me to feel how hard he was. His eyes on mine then a second later they shifted to my lips. I could see how he was lusting over them. Slowly he closed the space between us as he took me by my lips taking it slow and passionate. I could taste the mint stench of cigar on him yet I didn't mind at all. I have dated this guy for the past three years. Some things, I have come to live with. Furthermore, I warned him about it but he always turn a deaf ear about smoking.
"Get a room you guys." Sam teased while walking away with the bag on her shoulder.
"You are gonna let her leave carrying that like that."
"Let her be."
"Meet me at my place tomorrow night." He whispered to me.
"Okay." I mimicked him.
One last peck and soon Sam and I, we were heading out the back door to where she had parked our car. Time for a girls night since we had won a large sum of dough.
"You two never ceaze to amaze me. Bel, it has been three fucking years and still that kind of affection you two emit, it's still fucking fresh." she spoke her mind out loud as we entered the car.
"That's why I insist on you, Samantha Russell, to find your self a man." I bit my words knowing clear she has never settled down or better have such thoughts.
It has been all drama for her to the extent of a soap opera concerning relationships. One moment she is in a super serious relationship the next she ain't in one. She's looking for the best but yet one way or another she always ends up with either total assholes or idiots.
"Relax, Belinda, amma find my self a man. Sooner or later. You'll see" she assured me. Yah wishful thinking. Good luck to her. Judging by how quick she falls in love and out of love I doubt she will find him sooner. Later am sure of that but sooner, naah.
Well that's that. She drove us back to my apartment where we had settled in destroying my apartment with our little bitchy party which by the way she invited several dudes even though I didn't like the thought of it. I knew I'd get drunk and do silly stuffs.
" Enjoy the night missy, me am going to enjoy myself by making out with any guy that says am pretty." she was dead serious.
"Sam don't trash my sheets." I warned seriously.
"Don't worry I'll buy you new ones. We have the money. Right?" she shouted back heading down the hallway to the direction of the bedroom with a tall masculine guy.
That I knew I needed new bed, new sheets and new mattress. The party went well since we all enjoyed the night. The fact was I didn't know a single soul here that's what made it super fun. It was all drink and enjoy music. By the way, Sam had bought everyone for the party. Anyways who doesn't like free food and alcohol on top.
The night was still young when we decided to end the party. Most guys were already drunk and I didn't want any of them sleeping over. It was barely midnight but we had to. Tomorrow was a busy day too. I needed to go to work and Sam needed to finish up some of her jewelry deliveries.
"You phycho." I spoke upon seeing her in one of my pj's.
"What, can't I have a peace of mind in my own home?" she asked shamefully without a hint of shame in her voice.
"Darling, it's my apartment, basically it's my home." I stated.
"We are best friends for crying out loud. Your apartment is mine too. Live with that."
"Better replace my beddings tomorrow or else I'll kill you." I threatened.
"Fine lil missy." she hissed getting under covers.
We settled in for the night in the sitting area cause I wasn't going to sleep on those dirty sheets left by Sam. The small bed we had made for ourselves wasn't comfortable but it will do.
" So when is Harvey going to propose?" Sam asked yawning.
"I have no idea." I paused. "Anyways we are not in a any rush. We still have a lot to ourselves." I stated.
"Excuses lil missy." She spoke. "Am pretty sure he is taking his time forever. Are you sure he wants to take the next step with this your relationship? I mean not to jinx it but it has been three years, Bell."
She was right, it has been three years now. No engagement. No marriage. No kids. Just us two fooling around as if the world revolves around us. Sometimes I wonder if he still wants to be with me but yet he has never given me any doubts to believe he doesn't.
" Maybe it's high time you talk to him about it. "she suggested.
" I don't know maybe he'll get in his moods again. Remember the last time I asked and he ended up travelling for a month to hide from me. "
" Yeah, that was very cowardly of him. "
We both laughed at the thought. Even though he is a grown man sometimes he ends up doing somethings that will make me term him as a kid.
" Better make sure he still wants to be with you for the rest of his life. I don't want you crying over it when he ruins the three years you build together."
"Sam, cut me some slack."
"I just want to be sure. Plus am pretty sure your family is hot head on you about marriage stuffs. You will be turning Twenty two in four months time. Right?"
"Yeah." I agreed.
"Start planning your future now. Time to take over the family business and stop fooling around with poker game." she advised.
"Look whose talking." I paused sitting up eyeing her. "You enjoy the money."
"Yah I do but..." " Your future is important too."
" Fine. I'll think about it. "
Samantha Russell was the first person I knew when I relocated here. We met at a night club one Saturday evening. We both spoke about our shitty lives that we mourned together drunk. Till then we have been best of mates. Saving each other from ones misery.
With that we both said our good night's as we retired for the night.

Early bird catches the worm. I learned it the hard way. There I was running my way to the direction of the cafe upon seeing the line. It was indeed a long one and I was already late for my meet up with Douglas. We do business together , thus he needed us to discuss important details in person.
'' Shit is not going to work for me.'' i complained out loud.
''Late for work?'' I heard a male voice behind me.
"Yah." I stated going back to check what the time was.
"You are not much of a talker. Ain't you?" he asked.
"Am kinda hungry and the line isn't helping much." I complained going back to what I had been doing on my phone.
"Wait there I'll go get you something. What do you need?" he asked leaning in slightly.
"Black coffee and vanilla croissants." I stated.
"Alright."
Ten minutes later it was already his turn to order. He had been standing in line while I enjoyed my rest at the furthest end of the cafe on a corner seat. Time to time I had been watching him. Maybe that's how gentlemens are made.
"There you go." he spoke cheerfully.
"Thanks." I appreciate his gesture.
"Don't thank me yet. Mr. Douglas Harvey sent me here." he stated taking a seat.
"How did he..." I dragged.
"You were late that's why he sent me here."
Couple of minutes later we were done. That was after he kept pestering me about eating fast since we were late while I kept telling him since we were already late it won't hurt doing things at our pace.
This only got him annoyed. He literally dragged me out of the cafe. Something about his behavior alarmed me.
"The boss doesn't like being kept."
"Fine." I took pace.
He drove me to where Douglas and I were supposed to meet. To my surprise we weren't alone. I spotted him in the crowd. Luckily he spotted me before I had decided to make way to him.
"Guess that's the end of my work." he stated.
"Wait, what's your name again?" I asked.
"I never told you." he pinpoint.
"You don't have to be so damn rude, you know."
"I wasn't trying."
The nerve of this guy. He was totally being a dick right now.
"Name is Ten." I heard Douglas voice behind me. "One of my best mate."
"Mate," I paused. "Don't you think I already know all your friends."
"Naah. This one is special. He always lay low."
Something about this new guy ticked me off. All of Harvey's friends I knew them. So how comes there is this one guy who I had no idea where he came from. I didn't like one bit of it but it was none of my business. Better stay out of it before I get myself in trouble.
"You are late young missy." Harvey spoke after a kiss on the lips.
"We are at work are we supposed to be doing this right now?"
He eyed me for a second there before I could identify my mistake.
"Oh! Sorry. I overslept." I apologised.
With that we got to business.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * *
"Tired?" Douglas asked when he saw me yawn as I stretched my arms.
Soon he was at the back of the office seat I had been sitting on. Slowly he massaged my shoulders. Felt so good especially now that I was exhausted.
"Wanna take this further? " he asked brushing his lips over my ear.
All I could feel was his warm breathe on my neck. Slowly he started dominating over the whole situation. His right palm was already hot on my neck tying me down as his lips landed on my neck making every little bit of air I had taken in not to be enough for me.
''Babe, '' I paused to get a response.
''Mhh!'' He hummed as a sort of response while in the middle of what he was doing.
''Can this wait ,am really exhausted right now.''
He paused for a while, one last kiss on my neck and he was no longer beside me.
'' I'll send Ten to drive you back.''
I nodded as I shut down my laptop, put it back in my shoulder tote bag while I stood.
''Is it okay with you ,if I don't come to your place tonight?'' I asked my eyes never leaving where he was standing as I walked closer to him.
''Its okay. '' he paused his eyes fixed on mine. '' You better think of something really good to make it up to me.''
Soon he had already called Ten who was on his way to his office. A minute later we heard a knock on the door. That might be Ten. One passionate kiss and I waked out of his office with my tote bag hanging on my left shoulder.
Felt so good when I got home . Finally I could have some alone time. What I needed was a warm bath and a bottle of champagne to relax. drawing myself a bath I emersed myself in. the water was so good relaxing .
''Now this is life.'' I thought out loud.
Suddenly I heard my phone ring across the room on the other side of the room. Damn it. I left it on the bed. Didn't notice I had already fell into slumber land not until the phone rang than I woke up. There I was covering myself with a towel as I marched to the bed area. Checking the caller ID it was Sam.
''You better come right now or else I'll come get you. This place is no fun without you.'' She literary yelled at me.
''Sam, sorry , am really exhausted. Can I raincheck?'' I asked politely judging by how Sam can be, she would practically do the impossible.
''Nope. Yet better get into that car that I have sent to you or else it's gonna get bloody.'' The line was disconnected afterwards.
suddenly a new number called.
''Is this Nadia Belinda's contact?'' He asked.
''Yes, speaking.''
''Samantha Russell asked me to come get you. Am in the parking lot waiting.'' He informed me.
It would be so wrong to send him away, plus Sam would definitely kill me if I don't avail myself to wherever she was.
''I'll be there in twenty.'' Then I disconnected.
I got into action dolling myself up. A simple purple tight jumpsuit , a fluffy short jacket and sneakers. I was ready to go. On top I added a black shoulder bag to match the outfit. Quickly I marched out , locked the door and hurried down the hallway. The twenty minutes were already down to negative ten.
The only car I saw was a black gladiator jeep. There was a man standing next to it. By the looks of it I don't suppose he is the owner of the jeep. Upon seeing me he walked to where I stood.
''Miss. Nadia.'' He wanted to confirm.
''The one and only.''
Soon I boarded the car and we hit the road. Down the main road in Rochester , two blocks we were driving down 152 Baden street. He took a detour of the main road to a narrow road that led straight to a government private chopper helipad.
''I believe this is my last stop.'' He spoke while slowing down and stopped the car.
''What do you mean?'' I asked curiously.
''They will take care of you. A sure of that.''
For a second there I had dirty thoughts about being sold to a Mafia or something. I pushed that thought aside when I saw Mayfield , Sam's best guy friend coming to where the car was parked.
''Running late missy.'' He joked.
''You bet I am. She didn't let me take a proper shower.''
Later after our catching up, since we haven't seen each other for almost three months , we both entered the chopper. soon we were in the air.
''Where are we heading?'' I asked Mayfield.
''Something like Spyce Astoria.''
'' How in the world did she get to know such a place?'' I was more amazed compared to being shock.
''I could ask you the same. You spoil her too much with money.'' He paused. '' So you still gamble?'' he asked .
''Once in a while. '' I stated.
'' Better keep her in check with all the money you give her before we hear she has joined a gang or something worse.'' He advised.
We ended our conversation with me thinking of what Mayfield . Tops twenty minutes we were already on the ground being driven to Spyce Astoria, 31st Ave Astoria.
''Wow!'' I gestured.
That was not what I originally had in mind . Yah I saw the place couple of times in Magazines, but this, man it was amazing. The lights made it even better than what I had seen. It was to die for. Both Mayfield and I alighted the car as we were led inside. I walked in wide eyes, open mouth with amazement. Finally i had found a place I can really have a great time. This I was surely going to big up Sam for finding it.
''Don't even dare appreciate Sam. It will be the beginning of something even worse.'' Mayfield warned.
''I wasn't.'' I lied.
''Fool me , but I know you missy. You are a bad liar. Your eyes says more than you can mumble.''
Later he got in touch with Sam. She delightedly had that big smile on her face the moment she saw us.
''Bel, you made it.'' she screamed on top of her lungs.
Even though the music was booming I was able to hear her loud and clear.
'' Neal, time to pay up, Mr.'' I heard her talk with some dude who I was yet to know.
She called her Neal that is something too.
''Wait , Did you bet on me coming here?'' I asked in disbelief.
'' No. Yes.'' Both Sam and Neal responded in unison.
''You lil bitch.'' I slapped her hand slightly but she had to make it so dramatic that i had to apologize.
''Sam, I think you forgot someone.'' I pointed out to Mayfield who sat the opposite direction from us.
''Him, nah! We have been talking so it's no use.'' She teased.
''Ouch! That hurts.'' Mayfield spoke his mind.
Now I get where this two get their dramatic expression from. They teach each other that stuffs. Good for them I envy them. couple of minutes later Neal transferred a brick to Sam. she was so excited. Wow at least am worth that much. I thought I worth less than a dollar in her world. But still that got me wondering how can someone bet with a hundred thousand US dollar. Does it mean he is filthy rich to spare all that for a bet?
''You are spacing out again.'' Sam whispered.
''Was I?''
''By the way who is the owner of the jeep that got me to the helipad?'' Damn right I was curious.
''Him.'' She pointed to where a not so masculine guy stood, one hand in his pocket trouser and the other he held his phone placed on his ear. His back captivated me more and I was even more curious of what he looked. Judging by his posture I'd say he was from a well respected family or a prominent one with a siler spoon always in his mouth. The moment he turned to my direction once he was done with his call, my all attention was captivated by his facial looks , body built and his smile when he joined us back in the booth.
''You are staring too much.'' Sam spoke to me.
Quickly I snapped out of it. He was too watching as I got embarrassed by the whole situation. For a second there I could have sworn I saw him smirk . Kind of creeped me out but I puled myself together. This night I needed to enjoy myself. Its been long since I had to enjoy myself without Harvey being there. It felt like an achievement that's why I have to use this time wisely.
Did you discuss with him about marriage?" Sam asked loud enough that the mandem heard what we were talking about. Everyone looked at us as if they too wanted to know the full details about my marriage.
"Sh!" I shushed her looking away.
"You are getting married?" Neal asked surprised.
"Not in a million years." I stated as a hint of embarrassment flushed my face, dager eyes fixed on Sam afterwards. She was the one who started this whole discussion.
"Great. I was a little worried that my pal here won't have someone to spend his life with." Neal spoke looking past me to the dangerous stranger who had caught my eye.
For a second there our eyes met. What felt like an eternity was swap in just mere seconds before he broke the contant getting back to his half filled glass of whisky.
That might have bunned since he gulped it down dry, but to my surprise he had no expression at all. In fact he poured another glass for himself and drank the same way as the first time. I might have expected him to be drank by now but nope, he was the same as I saw him. Hard facial expression to read. Calm that I started to doubt he was even a person. His eyes fixed at his phone. Neal spoke to him once in a while and he responded with just a simple answer.
"Oh shit!" I cursed once my eyes laid sight of Harvey straight ahead past our booth.
"What is it?" Sam asked when I hid my face down the table dragging hers too.
"We are toast." I whispered.
"Why?" she whispered back.
"It's Harvey." I pointed down the table signalling the front direction.
"Where?" she asked peeping past the table to the front.
"I can't see him."
"Huh," I spoke peeping too.
There was no one there. We both sat straight up as I tried looking to other directions.
"Looking for someone?" We heard a familiar voice behind us.
"Harvey." Sam pretended to be happy to see him.
"Long time no see." I added salt to injury.
"Young missy. You and I in private." he spoke in a friendly manner that I thought he was all cool seeing me here.
"Okay." I sheepishly agreed.
"You too missy." He directed it to Sam who was about to drink the content remaining in her glass before Harvey took it away.
"Why me...?" she asked in a dragging tone indicating she was already drunk.
"I bet you know why." Harvey spoke before walking away.
Both Sam and I said our goodbyes as we struggled to take our jackets and bags. My heels were killing me since I was already tipsy enough to sway me over left to right while walking.
"What the heck are you two doing here?" He asked angrily once we were a step or two away from the booth.
Oh oh. we were in for a lecture now. He was just saving us face the first time.
"Fun." Sam spoke while leaning his head on my shoulder.
"Fun. Seriously." he got annoyed.
"Yeah fun." I said
"Don't even get me started young lady" He yelled at me making the guys to murmur something to each other.
"Stop. It's embarrassing." I raised my concern as I whispered.
"Ha! Now you know it's embarrassing. Do you know how I felt, being called in that my girl was having company with strangers, far from home and I didn't know about it."
"I meant to tell you." I lied.
"Bel, don't you dare lie to me. What happened? I clearly gave you to Ten to drive you back home. Now am seeing you in a fancy night club miles away from home dressed like a whore knowing clear you said you were tired the last time I saw you." he paused. "What does that make you look like?"
"What the heck... A whore..." I yelled.
Sam pinched me on my arm signalling me to stop. This could be a lot worse if I didn't calm down.
For a second he eyed us in anger. "I expected you to be more responsible than this."
With that he walked away. I felt my eyes become watery as a tear drop escape from my right. I was so hurt that I didn't look back. Making my way to the stairs, I felt Sam taking pace behind me. My mind was foggy and the only thing I wanted to do was lie down and cry my heart out.
"Bel wait for me." she shouted.
I ignored her and followed Harvey outside knowing clear she'd soon follow back.
"Get in." Harvey commanded the both of us to enter his black Chevrolet Suv which was parked at the entrance.
Soon we hit the road in silence before Harvey decided to break the deafening silence. Sam was already past asleep on my lap while I struggled to keep myself awake. I was more angrier that I didn't try to fall asleep.
"What hell were you thinking, Bel." he asked his eyes on me while seated besides me.
"I didn't mean to..." I dragged.
"Mean what! Bel, you are not getting the point here."
"Seriously what do you want me to say, sorry that I wanted to have some alone time and fun and not have you around, mmh," I whispered angrily in order not to wake Sam eyes deep stare on his.
"You bitch. Am done." He paused. "Ten stop the car." he ordered.
He alighted after giving ten clear instructions to get us to the helipad and then home safely. I tried apologising but it turned on a deaf ear. He was already gone by the time I wanted to sincerely apologize.
"So niosy." Sam complained half asleep.
"Go back to sleep." I said to her tapping her back to sleep.
My mind roamed thinking of every possibile way I made the whole situation worse. I could have just apologised from the beginning then things wouldn't have turned out this way.
"We are here." Ten said.
Slowly I woke up Sam.
"Mis..." Ten called once I had put Sam back to sleep in the chopper.
"I know this is not my place to say this but..." He dragged.
"It's okay. Am all ears."
"He's just angry give him some time he'll come around. Right now he's just disappointed." he stated.
"I know but why would he be disappointed. It just slipped my mind about telling him I was going to accompany Sam." I said.
"The person who called him am sure he was the one at fault. In Spyce Astoria, he also has enemies there. I bet they kind of hit the nerve when they delivered the message. Plus..." he dragged the last part.
"Plus what?" I asked.
"Plus the people you were in company with they are dangerous so stay away." he warned.
So bad I wanted him to elaborate more and in details but the chopper wasn't going to let me stay for a second more. I bid him bye and soon we were in air going home.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
" My head hurts so bad. "Sam complained the moment she woke up.
" Meds on the counter take them. " I yelled while still in the laundry room.
" What happened. I remember seeing Harvey and... "
She looked at me sadly then closed her mouth using her palm. Her eyes still on me.
"Are you okay? Did he get angry or something? Was it that bad?"
"Sam I don't know. We had a fight in the car and he bailed out on me." I spoke as tears stung my eyes. My voice became shaky.
"Am so sorry to cause you all of these." she apologised.
"No it's okay. Maybe it was bound to happen. We both have been having issues." I said to her hoping she'd feel much better and not blame herself.
"Was that supposed to make me feel better cause it sure didn't." she complained while drying a tear that escaped from my eye.
"No worries, I'll go talk to him when he calms down."
I paused. "Oh! That reminds me, who were those dudes from last night?" I asked.
"Don't know, don't care." she stated.
The laundry machine dinged and I got in action to get my stuffs.
"What do you mean 'don't know, don't care'?"I was confused now. She chatted with them as if she was acquainted with them.
"A friend told me about them. They are rich so I kind of mingled and that was that. Then the bet came, had to get the money or else I'd spend the night with Neal."
"Thats why you insisted so much."
She nodded slightly.
"Good for you. Now you divide the money 50/50." I was dead serious now.
"No...." she pretended to cry. "Come on Bel, I did most of the talking. 60/40."she tried to bargain.
" Fine. "I agreed.
We both walked to where I usually hang my clothes for sundrying. Soon I got in action hanging them up while Sam sat watching me.
" By the way did you notice the handsome tall dangerous looking guy watching you? "she asked.
" Who are you talking about? "
" The one who sat opposite you. Guess his name was..." she dragged trying to figure out what his name was.
I was curious to know what his name could possibly be. His looks was so attractive that it gives me goosebumps every time I remember how his eyes laid on me for the briefest moment.
" Something like Aidan Christopher." she spoke.
For a while there I kept repeating his name over and over in my head.
"Bel are you listening ?"
"Yeah." I lied.
"Anyways what's for lunch am hungry."
The rest of the day went smooth but my heart ached so much. Every single word that left Harvey's mouth felt like sharp sword piercing my heart every time the words kept repeating as if it was just a second ago.
"Bel will you be okay if leave you on your own?"
"Don't worry about me. I'll go to bed early."
With that she left, leaving me by myself and my inner demons. Ten minutes later I heard the door unlocking the closed. Footsteps coming closer to me. Didn't need to look since I knew that was Sam forgetting something.
" Nadia. "I heard Harvey's voice.
" Babe. "I was do damn glad to see him.
There he was standing a step or two away from the couch I had laid on. His navy blue tax looked so fucking good on him. Guess he just got off work.
" Want me to help? "I asked standing from where I was kneeling on the couch.
" Am good. "
That simple answer already said a lot. He was still angry at me. Slowly I made my way to him, half unbutton his shirt before he stopped me as he held my palms to his chest. My eyes shifted from his chest to meet his eyes.
"I hate it when we fight and you know that." he said.
"I know."
"Don't ever make me get that angry at you. Understood?"
"I understand." I whispered.
He slightly closed the space between us before taking me by my lips. The kiss was soft and tender but it didn't last long. He cut me midway as I was trying to kindle the moment.
"Talk to me Bel, about last night."
"Nothing happened. Harvey will you stop." I tried walking away but he held me firm on my waist little closer than the previous time.
"Why are getting angry. I just want to know."
His face clearly showed how desperate he was.
"Sam called me to accompany her. She was already there when Mayfield and I got there. We just enjoyed the drinks and music. After that, that's when I saw you." I explained in details.
"Okay." he stated.
"What do you mean okay?"
"Promise me, you'll never leave without telling me."
His eyes were more dangerous than I've ever seen him be. Yah we argued a lot in the past three years but this was different. Something was not right somewhere. He was dead serious about this.
" So we good?" he asked.
I nodded.
" Nah! I need words missy."
"we are good."
