I was inside my room reading secretly even though I know girls are not allowed to, I was reading quietly when I heard a knock make me , close to the book and hide it before, I get punished and went to open the door , to the maid stand

" Young Miss , Duke is asking for you in the study room " said the maid in elegance tone while looking down

" am coming " answered Charlotte

Btw My name is Charlotte Fernandez , the second daughter of the Duke in the kingdom of Euphora , In this kingdom female gender are not allowed to do anything which male can do like joining army , studying nor talking back to the Male gender , female are raised as proper ladies , who should know how to take care of the houses and her family

After the maid said that she bowed and left from there , and I start my journey to go to the study room , as soon I arrived, the guard bowed

" Tell the Duke am here to meet him " said in soft voice

he bowed and enter inside and few seconds he came out and opened the door and I entered inside, to find my dad sitting on the chair working, I went near him and bow

" My Lord " bowed elegance

he looked up and gave me a sign to stand up , I and my father really never had any good relationship , he always ignore me and never even care

" Do you know why called you here " asked in cold voice

I nodded my head as no while looking down

" Now listen , His Majesty has decided, you to be his Concubine, so go and prepare yourself, tomorrow you will be sworn in as the new concubine , of Euphora " he said coldly as if it meant nothing to him , after why was he even telling me this as I don't even have a chance to choose if it's yes or no , as i know to be sworn as a concubine it takes like a week but on mine it's only hours being counted that's means they already decided it for a long

I just nodded my head as I know even if say no I will be forced in another way

I was standing there without knowing what to say nor do when my father walked close to me and pat my head which made me startled, surprise, shocked and happy at the same time as it's his first time to pat my head

" am proud of you " Said in soft voice and a small smile

I was really happy , after 18 years I finally made my dad proud but at the same time sad and heartbroken as I was expecting to make him proud by seeing his daughter as a first successful woman in the kingdom but I guess, it will all remain as a dream

After patting my head , he left from there,am sure he is going to return the answer which I didn't even answer truly from my heart

As soon he left from there , I also left and went to the kitchen to prepare dinner for everyone , there I met my Older sister sitting eating fruits as she is 8 month pregnant , she came back home as she needs more care

" sis, how are you feeling " I asked while wearing apron

" fine , " answered While continue eating the fruits

I took out the ingredients and start washing them and start chopping when she spoke again

" I heard the court has chosen you as the new concubine " said while looking at her sister

I just nodded my head without saying anything

" then what your dreams " asked while raise her one eyebrow

Well , my dream is actually to be a physician but it's look like I will end up like other women in this country , just a normal house wife whose responsibility to take care of the house and family

" leave it , this is what my fate is , a normal house wife and nothing else " said while starting preparing the dishes

" if you want to be like that , then it's your wish " shrug her shoulders and stand up with the help of the kitchen counter

Sometimes I really envy sis alot , she is confident and will never let anyone look down upon her

Well the rumors I heard about the king , he is a womanizer , he has many Concubines but has only one kid who is the future heir of the kingdom, he is also known as a God of War , he ambush his enemies as if it's nothing to him , let's leave it am not in the place to judge anyone here

I continued to cook and after few hours I was done preparing everything and asked maids to help me to prepare it on the table , after awhile everyone came to the dining table and had their dinner and left going to their respective rooms

Next morning , I woke up as usual to find maids in my room preparing everything

" Young Miss , you are awake " said the maids

" you need to wake up and start preparing , yourself " said the maid with calm voice

I know it's the ritual but it's so early in morning to start it now , I was about answer them when mom entered inside the room

" oh , dear you are wake " said the mother with a wide smile on her face

I nodded my head but by looking at that smile it's look like she is really happy

" now dear wake up and go and fresh up , to start the rituals " said the mother while caress her hair

I just got up and went to the washroom to be followed by maids who came to help me , after awhile I came but to the room to find my breakfast already there and as ritual the mother has to feed the daughter with their hands as their last goodbyes , so I just sat down and mom started feeding me , she looked emotional while feeding me and I can understand why
