Melike, that’s my name. I am half Italian and half Turkish girl, my mother was Italian while my father was Turkish. He always said to me: “Daima sadece kendinize güvenin, asla başkalarından yardım beklemeyin.” Meaning”Always rely only on yourself, never expect help from others.” At that time I didn’t get it, why he said so. But I understood what he meant 2 years ago. When my father died from a car accident, as soon as the news of his death came to us my mother couldn’t bear it and died from a heart attack. When they died my relatives from my fathers neither my mothers side wanted to take care of me. They said:” You are old enough to take care of yourself.”Never did I think that these people that always smiled to me and my parents face would be some hypocrites. Now I’m 16 years old as I wasn’t able to go to school as I had to work to be able to keep renting the cheap apartment I live in. But I know that my parents would have wanted for me to go to a school. I have moved alway from Antalya and moved to Istanbul as I heard that I can make more money there. Now i will finally go to school at the last year of my high school years. Next I will have to pay for tuition at an university. Tomorrow I have to go to school. I have bought the school form. I chosed to buy the boys form and discussed it with the teachers as I had more boys clothes at home left from my father. I will have to study hard as I haven’t been able to study for the last 2 years, I know my parents would be proud of me. Melike looked at the necklace her father gifted her. “ Baba, Annem( dad, mom) I miss u so much.” Melike held the necklace close to her heart. Tears dripped down her face. Her eyes became red from crying. It wasn’t easy fro her surviving, after all she had only herself to rely on. Minutes went by months and years but the image of her mothers dead and her fathers dead body didn’t leave her mind. Melike some times got nightmares about their dead, making her have insomnia, that’s why she decided to have night shifts as to relive her mind and make herself more tired to be able to sleep. Melike wiped her tears and stood up “ I have to be strong, I have to be strong to survive”

she took on her jacket and went to work at her Night Shift, she wore black jeans and a black t-shirt people at her work called her Yabani ( wild ) as she beat someone at her work for calling her mother:”a wench not being able to make money and look after her own daughter.” Melike smiled thinking about how she beat him. She was a master in kickboxing if only she had the money to continue doing it she would have reached the championship. Melike shook her head and went to work. When I arrived at work everyone applauded

“Yabani because of you we could make it in time to send the ship to the neighbor country, if it weren’t for u being here while everyone left we would have been fired”. Her coworkers cheered and applauded her. Melike laughed,” brothers I didn’t do much if it weren’t for you all we wouldn’t have made it everyone did their part of job, after all you have also helped me many times. Everyone began to smile and chuckle getting touched by her words “ Yabani I wouldn’t even give you to my son as a wife no one deserves to be ur husband, you are a strong person and a honest person may God give you someone that can take your side and be as good as you, dear sister”

Everyone shouted “Ameen”

Melike smiled “ I’m good enough being able to be with you my brothers, well enough of this emotional talk we need to continue our job and send the next ship” everyone smiled and patted her back and went to do their job, deep down everyone had got emotional, after all she is a young girl while still surviving alone, Melike was a stubborn girl and no one could persuade her to do anything. Melike was moving the boxes, while others were helping. It was already 4am while everyone was done Melike decided to work some more, moving the boxes. Some time went by and it was 5am she decided to go home and prepare her clothes for tomorrows school. She washed her hands,arms,head and feet and decided to pray as she had already heard the Azan. After praying Melike went to sleep. She though of how she used to makers with her mother sometimes while she patted her head. After some minutes of thinking Melike fell asleep. Some time went by and the morning came. It was 7am when Melike woke up hearing the alarm clock. She went to the bathroom, took a shower, and did her morning routine. Melike had short hair and she could be taken for a boy sometimes, but her beauty was something she was liked by many at her old school. She had dark brown black hair, with dark brown eyes. Her height was 158cm. She took on her white shirt. And black jeans,she also wore a tie. She brushed her hair took her black backpack and went to school with her skateboard. While she was skating to school a car almost hit her. The car stopped at time, it was a Lamborghini of the latest edition. A guy cam out with the same school form as her. Took of his sunglasses and and shouted” are u crazy, who comes in front of a car like that, are u tired of living?!!”. Melike got angry “and cam close to the guy” Abi (brother) u better look after your car and urself, didn’t u see the red light, are you colour blind, if so I can take u to my friend, he will do something to help you”the guy got furious.

he looked at her from top to bottom and noticed that she was wearing the same school uniform as his. His lips curved into a smirk.

"we'll be seeing each other again very soon"

he say in his car and drove off to the same direction as Melike was going to.

Melike stood dumbfounded and thought

{what was that, I think he doesn't have a good relationship with his brain}

Melike went off to her school, while skating she took a lollipop in her mouth.

Some minutes later she arrived at the school gate, she looked at the surrounding s and noticed the sports cars of the last editions.

Melike knew that this school was for the rich. She applied to this school through scholarship. Otherwise she wouldn't be able to attend becauss of money.

Melike went in and looked around looking for the principals office as she had no idea of where and which class she was attending.

She suddenly heard a familiar voice. "well well well , we meet again"

She turned around and saw the guy from earlier, only then did she notice that he was wearing the same school form as her.

Melike looked at him and thought

{ not bad he looks nice but why does every handsome guys have such a trashy personlatiy}

"dude are u done checking me out}

The guy looked at Melike with a frown.

{how can this guy look like a girl so much, he definitely would be a heart catcher if he was a girl but one thing is confusing, why does he keep checking me out, don't tell me he's}

he stepped far back

" I will be seeing you dude"

and went off

Melike thought

{did the guy just mistake me for a boy?! in which aspect do I look like a guy?!!! }

Melike stomped her feet and went angrily off go look for the principals office.

Some minutes later she had found the principal's office. And was following him to her new classroom, the principle stepped inside the classroom and said

" My dear students we have a new student,let me welcome and introduce to you, your new classmate, Melike Oztürk"

Melike stepped in and stood in front of them.

Everyone started discussing why she was wearing a boys form, and started to discuss about how she looks so handsome like she looks so feminine boy.

There was one boy sleeping at his desk, but suddenly woke up looking at me his eyes went wide.

The principal went out while Melike and the guy where still looking at each other, Melike was still standing.

The teacher looked at Melike and said

"You can go and sit beside Berk"

She pointed at the last roa beside the window.

Melike went and sat beside him.
