The magical forest, a territory marginalized from the rest of the world separated from humanity, an area of one of the races feared for its brute force and hostility towards living beings, there was Kim, a demon with navy blue hair due to his race sharing that characteristic.
His steps could be heard stepping on the green path while the strands of his head shone the most beautiful blue due to the moonlight bouncing on them.
The trees around him had almost no leaves but were numerous trunks of wood as hard to cut as a stone.
In that forest Kim was dedicated to hunting with his daughter Tae who was learning how to do it properly, she did not look very happy about it but her face showed no doubts.
Kim who was a beast of wild monster skins carried a bident with which he attacked the enormous monsters until they were weakened.
Monsters of great size were defeated with great ease for that experienced demon.
—Now!—. Kim exclaims.
Tae lunges forward, expelling a timid "HAAA" at the top of her lungs to attack, swinging the bident in her hands to pierce the monster's heart.
—Well done, daughter—. Kim gives her approval with a small smile while her little daughter with sweat on her face struggles not to make any mistakes in front of her father.
For this race, these monsters are nothing more than food and tools, but for an inexperienced girl like Tae, it is a challenge.
She was bad at hunting unlike her friends, she hates confrontation but it is a tradition in the demon tribe that when she turns 15 years old she goes out to hunt for the first time in the distance.
Going alone and returning home with skins, meat and their useful parts is the demonstration of power that is asked of her children.
Kim should not be accompanying her.
Tae inhaled and exhaled to stay calm before the enormous monster that fell in front of her due to her weapon.
—I-Is he already dead?—. She asked, shyly hugging her bident with both arms, bringing it close to her chest, but with a smile on her face.
"Of course, she won't get up again," Kim said kindly.
Kim was nervous, scared, and he didn't think he could leave his daughter alone, knowing that she wasn't especially strong or skilled with her bident.
"I'll help you for a few days, then you can do it yourself," was his excuse, breaking every rule. He was different from other parents and that bothered Tae.
Tae had no choice but to accept.
"Now take off the skin, flesh, and bones," he said, approaching her.
Totally disgusted, she prepared a knife to skin the monster, leaving a pool of blood on her feet.
"This is disgusting," she thought as she separated the skin from the body.
Her eyes began to get wet, a lump was felt in her throat "This is humiliating and grotesque" she thought while trying not to cry, she bit her lower lip and continued her work without complaints or questions.
—I hear steps... —. Kim says warning her.
It was the sound of wild wolves running, they would not be problems for someone experienced in hunting like Kim is.
Little by little the steps became louder and more numerous.
A pack. No... A group of packs united.
—What's wrong? What's happening? —. Tae asks when she sees her father's worried face.
—To the tree! NOW! —. While pointing with her finger to one of the trees with few leaves.
Tae hesitates for a moment but seeing her father upset despite always being so calm made her feel forced to move away from the battle.
She climbs the tree almost in one jump with her characteristic strength of a demon of the royal hunting race.
—Don't worry, this isn't a problem—. He says.
Seeing a huge pack of dark wolves around him, they surround Kim in an instant in a threatening manner.
"There are many of them, he won't be able to handle so many alone" he thought.
Tae knew the behavior of wolves and feels that something is not right.
—Dad!—.
—You calm down— He responds immediately —Watch how to hunt and learn—. Full of confidence pointing his bident at the wolves.
While they cornered Kim in a circle he watched carefully each one of them around him turning on every survival sense in him.
"I'm sure that at this moment I will impress my daughter" Kim thought.
—Get away!—. Tae shouts waving his bident.
His daughter's words alerted Kim who was focused only on him.
"Impossible, the wolves of the labyrinth do not know how to climb" He thought while watching how the pack divided to attack both of them as a group.
The wolves were intelligent but they only attacked one at a time and had never done anything like that.
Tae attacks the wolves causing them to fall from the tree.
—Ug!—. A wolf bites Tae's leg due to carelessness.
—Damn it—. He mutters in hatred at the wolf.
Kim doesn't think twice and throws the bident through the wolf's body, piercing its body and sticking into the hard trunk.
They hurt the most important thing that exists for him, his own daughter.
Furious and without his trusty weapon, he attacks the wolves with his bare fists, defeating them as if it were nothing, although he received a few scratches from them, it was not important.
He tries to go towards Tae but the wolves do not allow it, these wild monsters were strangely different from the ones he knew.
—I'm going to fight! —. Tae said when he saw his father in trouble.
—No, don't let the wolves reach you! —. He orders him to go up even higher.
—Understood—.
Tae chose to leave everything to his father, seeing how he defeated each one without his spear.
Even though Kim was strong, the number is superior to him.
The spear... He needs it. She thought and even though the wolves climbed to catch it, she decided to take courage, if she didn't, her father could get hurt and her mother would put on that face of disapproval again.
The pain in her leg slows her down and the wolves have a hard time climbing with the blood of their dead comrade spread.
—I have it! —. She exclaimed proudly removing her father's weapon nailed tightly to the tree.
She struggles but it is so hard that it is impossible for her to free it.
Kim who was busy getting rid of those hairy nuisances with his fists watches his daughter disobey.
—I told you not to do it! —. He exclaims angrily.
A wolf bites Tae's arm.
—Gaah! —. He screams in pain.
Kim despairs when she sees her arm bleeding in the mouth of the furious wolf that moved despite being pierced by the bident.
Slowly the wolves approach her trapped in the wolf's mouth.
Kim throws herself at it with fury and desperation but the wolves stop her.
—TAEEE!—. She exhales at the top of her lungs when she sees that she can do nothing but watch her daughter die.
Soon the wolves began to fall from the tree shot by cuts of a transparent color like water that shone under the moonlight.
The attacks do not stop and the wolves fall including the one that bit Tae.
A young man with dark brown hair brandishing two swords comes to the girl in danger.
A clear skin, a fixed and courageous look, greenish eyes and dark brown hair.
That young man posed next to the tree as if he were a hero saving Tae in trouble in a flash.
Tae stared at him without taking his gaze off that savior and from one moment to the next both exchanged glances.
His eyes shone reflecting the moonlight on the sky, the young man approached until he was in front of her.
He carefully stretched his hand towards Tae.
"Huh?" She murmured as she watched him.
Her face turned red at this action, without understanding what was happening the young man continued on his way while she stared at him with a look full of tenderness.
He ignored her completely, his hand tightly grabbed the bident until he managed to pull it out with little effort.
Tae was embarrassed to see that she was unintentionally misinterpreting things.
Without saying a word she threw the weapon towards Kim who was concentrating on the wolves, upon hearing the sound of the bident cutting through the wind she caught the weapon in the air and with a smile continued her battle.
It was easy for someone like Kim to end this little challenge, but this time with a smile on her face since the worry was gone and that individual did not seem to have bad intentions.
The young man posed next to his daughter watching the duel in an admiring way.
—Excuse me... Who are you? —. Tae asks him politely but the young man did not take his eyes off Kim for a second.
Seeing that everything was over the young man approaches with both swords in his arms with a charming smile.
Seeing this Kim answers him.
—I appreciate your help. Can I know your name? —. He asks in response.
—I don't understand—. The young man answers immediately.
Kim and Tae realize that the language he speaks is not from the demon race but the human language.
Kim loosens his throat and begins once again.
—I... Thank you... Thank you very much—. He answers with difficulty.
Surprised, the young man smiles once more almost laughing.
—I finally understand! It's not for nothing, it's a pleasure—. Still with his swords in hand, he bows his head slightly.
Apparently he is someone with good manners without malice since he has saved his daughter from danger. In Kim's heart there was only gratitude towards him and he looked at him with good eyes.
—I wish to face you—. He claims raising his sword.
—Fight?... Why? —. He asks trying to communicate.
—Because you are very strong, for me it would be an honor—. He says politely.
Kim was confused, there were some words that he could not understand.
—I don't understand. What are you saying?—. Tae asks
Even though she asks, there was no way to answer him because she couldn't understand him well either.
—No... Fight—. Kim answers, putting his bident on his back.
The angry young man puts away his swords and with a "Humph!" he looks away with his arms crossed.
Kim approaches the boy who was rejected to fight and notices that his body has many open wounds and others bandaged or with carefully used blades on them.
Kim, seeing the little warrior, takes pity on him, while her daughter jumps down from the tree, trying to find the right words.
Tae approaches him slowly.
—Thank you very much for saving me—. Tae thanks him by lowering his head slightly in a sign of reverence, which the young man imitates by saying "yes" as a short answer.
—He is hurt all over—. Tae realizes this and murmurs almost silently.
Tae moves her hand towards his body, but he reacts by taking her hand before she can touch him.
He takes it with his palm, bumping into hers.
Their hands intertwine feeling each other's touch, his hand was hard due to using swords a little bigger than hers, warm instantly, it is the hand of a brave warrior.
Tae feels the touch of her blushing hand while the boy inside thought "What is he doing?".
Kim observes this with disapproval and separates their hands and then begins to speak again.
—What are you doing? —. He asks.
—I ask the same thing. Why does he want to touch me? —. He answers.
"I can't understand him well" Kim thinks when she hears his answer.
Soon the sound of his stomach is heard in front of them both, a hungry stomach is what gives away the young man who was waiting for a good hunt.
—Do you want... Food? —. Kim says observing his wounded body once again.
The young man only nods his head something he understands perfectly.
Kim takes one of the wolves on her shoulder, motions with her right hand for him to follow her and of course he immediately understands.
Kim begins to walk towards the small village or tribe and behind them Tae who was watching the boy out of the corner of his eye.
While he looked at the strong back of that demon with respect remembering with admiration the way he got rid of those wolves.
While looking out of the corner of his eye he notices Tae and looks back at him but doesn't say anything.
"Hello," he says in his language, victim of nerves and instantly realizes that he wouldn't understand the language.
He carefully observes her from head to toe which made Tae blush, a very pretty girl with shiny hair wearing animal skins lay restlessly in front of his eyes.
"Hello," she imitates the same returning the greeting.
Tae nods with a smile upon seeing this and answers "Very well" happy to exchange words.
After a short time walking and trying to communicate with each other, Tae catches Kim's attention.
—Dad— She calls him touching his marked arm —His hair, it's not blue—. She finally says.
It's what caught her attention the most besides the fact that the eyes of the real demon hunters were blue, the young man's eyes had a greenish color.
—It's natural, humans are like that—. She answers.
—Is he a human?... — While she looks at the boy without being able to feel despise towards him. —It's not possible—.
—It is, but don't worry, he won't hurt you, leave everything to me—. He reassures her.
They finally arrive at the village and the first person they meet is Mia, Tae's mother, Kim's wife, with an expression of concern and disapproval.
It's time for a scolding to the father who broke his word.
A woman of approximately 1.60m height with a frown and crossed arms with long braided blue hair approaches Kim pouting with her mouth.
—You lied to me, you said you wouldn't do it—. While making some tender pouts.
The beautiful woman hits the strong man's pectorals a few times in a sign of disapproval but he no longer looks intimidating at all.
—I'm sorry... I couldn't help myself—. He apologizes.
—If you do that, how will our girl grow?—.
—I'm sorry—.
Mia is her name, the demons of this tribe don't have a last name, only a first name, usually it's short like Tae, Mia, Kim.
She gives up when she sees that he's only apologizing, she won't get anywhere if she continues like this.
Mia can see that they found a good hunt at least, the wolves of the labyrinth are big and juicy so her worries disappear.
He sighs and his face changes to one of concern as he meets the gaze of a young man at his side.
—Is it... a human you brought? —. He asks in a whisper.
—Yes, it has been very helpful—.
Mia, a little shy but behaving like an adult, approaches him.
—Are you going to hurt us? —. She asks him.
—I don't understand—. He answers almost immediately.
Mia covers her delicate mouth with her fingers for a few seconds and continues.
—What's your name? —. She asks again.
But this time the young man smiles as he understands Mia's words perfectly.
—I'm Aaron, it's a pleasure to meet you—. In a formal and polite manner.
Tae is soon amazed by his mother's communication skills saying "Amazing, amazing mom" while Kim shows a proud smile that says "that's my wife."
Mia speaks to Aaron perfectly as if it were her second language and manages to confirm that he is not a bad boy.
But the challenge is approaching, at the entrance of the village two guards watch the only entrance to the tribe.
All around them walls of wood and bones can be seen as a security system against wild monsters.
The four of them approach these lairs to enter.
—Welcome back Kim, I see you have— A guard greets Kim in a friendly manner until he notices Aaron at his side —It can't be—. He says cutting off his words.
—This young man saved us and needs to heal his wounds, let us pass—. He claims.
Aaron looks at the guards with confusion as he cannot understand this strange language so he goes to Mia who answers him "Don't worry my husband will fix it and we will eat a good meal" with a confident smile which infects Aaron who also has that same smile.
"I'm starving" thinks Aaron as he looks at the guards.
"No, it is forbidden" says the second guard firmly.
"Are you going to leave this boy in the forest? Felt you are a bastard" he answers with an intimidating voice along with a threatening face.
The body of this second guard trembles a little and his partner comes to his rescue.
"No no Mr. Kim nothing like that, it's just for safety" he stands between them. "Felt looks for the chief" .
Felt leaves his guard and everyone waits a few minutes until finally a man similar to Kim appears.
If they said chief of the tribe I would think of an elderly man but he did not look like anything like that.
Almost the same appearance except that he was wearing a long blue robe.
—He really is a human, I'm sorry Kim we can't let them pass you know the rules—. He says somewhat bitterly.
But Kim returns a look of hatred to the same chief.
—I'm not going to leave him outside, he's hurt, dirty and hungry—. He answers angrily.
—Humans are enemies of us demons, we can't do something like that—.
—He's just a child Als let him pass—. He answers once again intimidatingly.
Als the chief of the tribe thinks about it for a few seconds but finally gives in because there is no one stronger than Kim in this tribe and even if it is dangerous he would take full responsibility.
—Okay Kim, just this once please don't abuse him—. He asks him kindly.
And it is that Kim has earned the respect of many who admired him.
With an order from the chief the guards allow his entry.
In addition Kim orders that a huge amount of wolves are at his disposal in the forest, more people are needed to collect them.
The houses were made of stones, branches and animal parts like bone and leather.
They were cute huts or small houses, some decorated and others simple, but what was most striking was that each and every one of them shared the same eye and hair color.
Blue. Pure blue.
Each one looked stunned at that human being walking next to Tae so close and the chief in front of him.
Soon Mia began to get uncomfortable by the looks as did Tae, Aaron looked amazed by the sight while Kim didn't even flinch.
"He's a human," "In the village?" And other comments were present in demon language so Aaron didn't understand.
Finally they arrive at a spacious hut and the chief is the first to relax.
He sighs heavily followed by the words "The things you make me do brother Kim, I'm sure I already have the hatred of the tribe."
"I'll make it up to you," he answers.
—You better watch out for bringing a human to this sacred territory when humans are our mortal enemies—. While he gets ruffled with madness.
Aaron and Tae sit at the table while the others help skin the wolf (the men) and Mia begins to prepare to make the food.
—Hello Aaron—. Tae says with a smile.
—Hello—. He answers a little uncomfortable.
Tae begins to try to talk to him with difficulty and uncomfortable Aaron tries to communicate with her as much as possible.
The girl does not seem uncomfortable, on the contrary, she was seen with a smile.
