Legend Of Soumya
Legend of Soumya¹
Once upon a time, in a faraway village, lived a girl. She was called Soumya by the villagers, but no one knew what her real name was.
Soumya lived alone in a small cottage at the border of the village. It wasn't because the villagers had forced her to stay there. She chose to stay there because the sea was closer.
Soumya loved to sit on the rocky beach and gaze at the roaring sea all day long.
You might ask how she survived if all she did was gaze at the sea. She survived because that was not all she did.
While gazing at the sea, she knitted beautiful garments, or wove wonderful baskets. She gave those things to the villagers, who in turn gave her food and other necessities.
She was leading a peaceful life.
Soumya was sitting on the rocky beach as usual. She was weaving baskets, while gazing at the sea.
Out of the blue, she noticed that a fish was swimming towards the shore rapidly.
She found the sight very odd. Why would a fish swim towards the shore and not away from it?
She decided to check it out. So Soumya put down the basket she was working on and ran towards the sea shore carefully.
By the time she reached, the fish was already on land. She quickly tried to put it back in water, but it jumped out again.
Even after several tries when the fish refused to remain in water, she carried it and dumped it in a small rock pool a little farther away from shore.
The fish seemed satisfied and finally didn't jump out again.
Soumya
What a troublesome little thing!
Soumya
Now stay here, I'll get you some food!
With that, Soumya ran towards her house to get some food for the fish.
